    The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is one of the several new thumpers which are waiting to be launched later this year. Prototypes of the new 350 cc neo-classic roadster are being spotted on public roads frequently as the company has stepped up testing and validation process.

    A speculative rendering of the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 has emerged online based on the spy shots. Being a product with no lineage, Royal Enfield designers had completely freedom to choose the direction and they chose well.
    With blacked out components, alloy wheels and Tripper Navigation system, the Hunter 350 has a modern appeal while also embracing traditional roadster elements like a circular headlamp, a simple slender fuel tank and a minimalist tailpiece.
    Finer details are still under wraps as the prototypes are not fully production ready but we like the short and sleek exhaust canister which angles upwards. As the rendering demonstrates, dual-tone colour themes would go very well with the Hunter 350’s simple yet elegant styling.

    Specs at a glance
    The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is a derivative of the Chennai-based motorcycle maker’s new modular J platform which debuted with the Meteor 350. At the heart of the modern platform is a new 349 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine which is tuned to develop 20.2 hp and 27 Nm of torque. Transmission is a 5-speed unit. We don’t expect any changes to the powertrain on board the Hunter.
    The upcoming Royal Enfield roadster appears to be equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels at either end. The front and rear disc brakes are most likely to be governed by a standard dual-channel ABS. As the spy shots confirmed, suspension system comprises traditional front telescopic fork and twin rear shock absorbers.
    Market positioning
    Royal Enfield has been an indisputable leader in the Indian medium displacement segment. The Classic 350 has been the star performer and this is not likely to change moving forward. So, the Hunter would be pitched as a slightly sportier alternative to the next generation Classic 350. The new motorcycle would be aiming to bring more young riders to the RE umbrella.

    Other new RE motorcycles in the pipeline
    Royal Enfield is also working on an all-new Classic 350, a 650 cruiser and a roadster which is likely to be a spiritual successor to the Classic 500. The produce onslaught is expected to commence in the first quarter of this year and involve big ticket launches at regular intervals for a long time to come.     Royal Enfield dealers have started accepting unofficial bookings for the updated 2021 Himalayan. The latest iteration of the adventure tourer has already started reaching dealerships across the country and is expected to reach its customers in the next few days.
    As per leaked pricing, the updated Himalayan will be available at a starting price of Rs 2.51 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards which is a premium of Rs 20k over its predecessor. Official prices are to be announced on 10th Feb, tomorrow at launch.
    Launch of the new Hinalayan was expected last month, however, due to some reasons, it got delayed. Test mules of the adventure bike have been spotted and clicked on multiple occasions in recent past. Latest spy shots are credit to bijit_bk.
    Updated Cosmetics
    In the latest iteration of the motorcycle, Royal Enfield has incorporated a handful of cosmetic updates along with new paint scheme options. These new colour options include Pine Green, Granite Black and Mirage Silver.

    While some of the earlier options have been included some colour schemes such as Lake Blue, Gravel Grey and Rock Red have been retained in the updated version of the adventure tourer. Along with this, the motorcycle now comes with a new contrasting tan-coloured seat with a high foam density.
    It was expected that the bike will get a new headlamp cluster that sports an LED DRL ring around its circumference. But that seems not to be the case in latest spy shots. Another notable update is a taller windshield in order to enhance the bike’s road presence and improved protection from gusting winds.
    Other design highlights retained from the previous model are a round headlamp, a sculpted fuel tank, rearview mirrors, sleek turn indicators, a slim tail section and an upswept exhaust. The new model also comes with an updated luggage rack with a flat surface metal plate that ensures a larger space to mount one’s luggage.

    In terms of features, the updated Himalayan gets the all-important Tripper Navigation feature which was first introduced in the recently launched Meteor 350. This new feature is helpful in getting turn-by-turn navigation on long journeys.
    It allows riders to connect their smartphones to the system via Bluetooth. The rider is required to enter the destination on the Royal Enfield’s App on the phone and the tripper screen on the instrument cluster will receive all navigation details.
    Mechanical Specifications
    Mechanically, it is identical to its outgoing predecessor. It is powered by the same 411cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that pushes out 24.3bhp at 6,500rpm and 32Nm of torque between 4,000rpm – 4,500rpm. This unit is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
    Its hardware is also retained from the previous Himalayan. This includes a suspension setup which consists of a 41mm telescopic forks upfront and a monoshock at rear. Anchoring duties are handled by front and rear disc brakes assisted switchable ABS (anti-lock braking system).

    Royal Enfield is expanding its product portfolio with launch of one new motorcycle in the 250cc-750cc range every three months

    Royal Enfield has an interesting array of new models planned for launch in the New Year. These include the next gen RE Classic 350, Interceptor 350, facelifted Interceptor / Continental 650 and a 650cc cruiser bike. But ahead of all that, Royal Enfield will launch an updated version of the Himalayan.
    Launch was expected to take place last month, but that did not happen. But now, first units of the updated Himalayan motorcycle have started arriving at company dealership. Here are latest spy shots – credit to automotive enthusiast Ram Prasath and Gideon Tony.

    As can be seen in the spy image, 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan comes with an all new shade of Green. Apart from the new colour, it also gets Tripper Navigation system, that is already on offer with Meteor 350. The Meteor 350 was the first bike to receive this feature which will now be extended to other bikes in the company lineup.
    Tripper Navigation allows riders to connect their smartphones to the system via Bluetooth and receive turn navigation details. Along with this Tripper Navigation, the 2021 RE Himalayan will likely see updates in the form of a new headlamp which will sport an LED ring to work as a DRL.

    New colour options are also be a part of the update. The current Himalayan is presented in color options of Granite Black, Snow White, Sleet Grey, Gravel Grey and Rock Red. New colours include Green, White and Silver.
    Engine and Transmission
    The 2021 RE Himalayan will be powered by the same 411cc, single cylinder engine which was recently updated to BS6 emission standards. This engine makes 24.3 bhp power at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm torque at 4,000 to 4500 rpm. The engine gets mated to a 5 speed gearbox.
    2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan will be equipped with disc brakes at both ends while it will receive dual channel ABS for enhanced braking performance. Suspension duties will be handled via telescopic forks in the front and a monoshock unit at the rear.
    As per the leaked pricing, new Himalayan is expected to get costlier by about Rs 20,000 – taking the price to about Rs 2.51 lakh. Official launch is expected to take place in the coming days.

    Royal Enfield is gearing up for an eventful 2021. First, the existing Himalayan is set to receive an update. After that, Interceptor and Continental GT 650 models are set to receive model year updates which will involve addition of alloy wheels.
    Then, the company will set out on a product blitzkrieg with next gen 350 cc family of products and the eagerly anticipated 650 cc cruiser. Based on the popular demand by our readers, we imagined the upcoming Royal Enfield 650 cruiser in 8 new colours.

    Currently in the advanced phase of testing, the Royal Enfield 650 cruiser will take on the likes of Kawasaki Vulcan 650, Honda Rebel, etc., on the global stage. The low-rider was first previewed at EICMA show in Milan back in 2018. Going by the prototypes that were spotted recently, the production version sports a significantly toned down design but the fuel tank could be a make shift unit.
    Royal Enfield is expected to offer the new flagship cruiser will an array of interesting colour themes. We already have presented you with range of palettes before and now here is the second lot. The motorcycle certainly would look good in unconventional color themes of mild orange, yellow, maroon and purple.

    Specifications
    The specifications are still under wraps. While presenting the concept, RE hinted that the cruiser, if produced, would feature a twin-cylinder engine with displacement of around 830 cc. However, the prototypes appear to be sporting the existing 650 Twin motor that has received widespread appreciation for its refinement and performance.
    On board the Interceptor and Continental GT, the air-cooled V-twin motor displacing 648 cc produces 47 hp and 52 Nm of torque. The 6-speed transmission is likely to be tweaked for relaxed highway touring.
    The motorcycle is suspended by inverted telescopic forks at the front, a first for a modern RE. The rear suspension is composed of traditional twin shock absorbers. Alloy wheels, thick tyres and dics brakes at either end are standard. The motorcycle will also be equipped with standard dual-channel ABS.

    Keeping up with the connectivity trend, we expect the upcoming Royal Enfield 650 cruiser to offer Bluetooth enabled smartphone connectivity for music and navigation.
    Launch and price
    The yet-to-be-named Royal Enfield 650 cruiser is expected to be launched in India sometime in the middle of next year. We estimate the price to undercut INR 3 lakh (ex-showroom). The new product will be important for the brand in export markets where it is likely to undercut all its primary rivals.

    Royal Enfield 650 Gets A Mig21 Makeover – Looks Ready For Takeoff

    Launched in 2018, Royal Enfield 650 twins (Interceptor and Continental GT) have emerged bestsellers in domestic as well as international markets. With their simple design, 650 twins are also preferred for customization projects. We have seen quite a few of these modified versions in recent past and most of them have been a true delight in terms of their creative design.

    The latest in the series of experimentations with 650 twins involves Interceptor, which has been modified based on core design elements taken from Mig-21 fighter jet. This customization has been carried out by Bengaluru-based Bulleteer Customs, one of the leading auto workshops in the country.
    Applying Mig-21 design theme to Interceptor 650 has worked out seamlessly in this mod job, as both share a retro design. Had the designers used the theme of a modern aircraft like F-35, the results would have been highly incompatible. The circular, hollowed nose of the headlamp unit at the front and airbrushed rivets at the sides are among the key design characteristics borrowed from Mig-21.
    Modified Interceptor 650 also gets various other visual updates such as multi-coloured strips on the right side of front cowl and smoked out windscreen. Stock handlebar has been replaced with clip-on units, which enhances the motorcycle’s sporty profile. Similarly, 17-inch alloy wheels replace the stock 18-inch wire-spoke wheels.

    Another key change is aftermarket exhaust, which can be expected to output a superior aural experience to resonate more with the overall theme of Mig-21. The motorcycle also exudes patriotic fervour, as can be seen with the ‘Mig-21’ and ‘IND’ badging.
    No engine tweaks
    This modification project is primarily about visual updates. It’s unlikely that changes have been made to the engine to boost its performance. Interceptor 650 is powered by a 650 cc air-oil cooled engine that is capable of generating max power of 47 hp and peak torque of 52 Nm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

    In case you are wondering why Mig-21 and not any other fighter jet, the answer is that Mig-21 is one of the most successful fighter planes ever created. More than 11k units were produced from 1959 to 1985. It was the first supersonic jet aircraft in the world and has been used by around sixty nations across four continents.

    Royal Enfield reports growth in domestic sales and exports in January 2020

    Royal Enfield has reported 5 percent YoY growth for total sales in January 2021. Sales is up at 68,887 units, up from 63,520 units at volume gain of 5,367 units. FY21 YTD sales is reported at 4,76,633 units at 20 percent decline from 5,96,609 units for the comparable 10 months in FY20. Volume loss stood at 1,19,976 units.
    While Royal Enfield’s dominance in the 350cc segment in the domestic market is largely unchallenged, theres’s been some recent competition. Honda CB 350 was launched in recent months, and the brand is likely to launch a CB 350 based cafe racer in the next fortnight.

    For January 2021, exports account for 4,515 units, up at 103 percent from 2,228 units at volume gain of 2,287 units. Export volumes more than doubling last month is good news for the manufacturer.
    In recent months, the brand has refocused its export goals, and is on a quest to be recognised as a top business house in the mid-size segment (250cc -750cc). FY21 YTD exports is down 17 percent at 28,192 units from 33,776 units at volume loss of 5,584 units.

    On the export front, Royal Enfield has open its maiden store in Japan last month. Having appointed PCI Co as its distributor, the manufacturer now sells five of its motorcycles – Bullet 500; Classic 500; Himalayan (411cc); Int 650; and Continental GT 650 from its Suginami store in Tokyo. On this front too Honda is likely to put forward strong competition. Honda recently launched the CB350 in Japan.

    Domestic sales last month stood at 64,372 units at 5 percent growth from 61,292 units. Volume gain stood at 3,080 units. Of total sales, domestic sales accounted for 93.45 percent, and exports at 6.55 percent. MoM domestic sales fell by 1.71 percent. Volume loss stood at 1,120 units, down from 65,492 units.
    MoM exports grew by 28.89 percent. Up at 1,012 units from 3,503 units exported in December 2020. MoM decline is marginal at .16 percent at loss of about 100 units, down from 68,995 units. YTD FY21 domestic sales decline is reported at 20 percent, down at 4,48,441 percent, down from 5,62,833 units. Volume loss stood at 1,14,392 units.
    Of this, it’s the 350cc segment offerings that contribute to a lion’s share of domestic sales. The segment has in recent weeks benefited from the introduction of its Meteor motorcycle.
    This isn’t the only 350cc segment offering the manufacturer has been readying over months. There’s the likelihood of what’s now commonly known as the Hunter roadster to be launched soon. More

    Royal Enfield launched the BS6 compliant Bullet 350 almost a year back. Offered in two trims- Standard and ES (Electric Start), Bullet 350 has been the longest running motorcycle in the world which has been in production since 1932. The Standard trim is offered in three colour options- Black, Phoenix Black and Silver.
    Now, the Chennai-based bikemaker has reintroduced Forest Green colour option on its entry-level motorcycle after a brief spell of absence. The ES variant is still available with Royal Blue, Jet Black and Regal Red colour options. No mechanical or styling updates have been introduced on the bike.
    Design
    Forest Green colour option has been made available at a price of Rs 1.33 lakh (ex-showroom). Design elements of the bike include an exhaust pipe and muffler laced with chrome, circular headlight with chrome surround, single-piece seat, single-piece tubular handlebar, rectangular taillamp, chrome turn indicator housings and mirrors, etc.
    Mechanical Details
    Coming to its hardware setup, it is built on a single downtube frame which is suspended on 35mm telescopic forks at front and five-step adjustable preload twin-shock absorbers at rear. Stopping power comes from a 2-Piston caliper with a 280 mm disc brake at front and 153 mm drum brake at front and assisted by single-channel ABS. The bike rides on 19-inch spoked wheels wrapped around by tubed tyres.
    Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Forest Green
    Bullet 350 draws its powers from a 346cc single-cylinder air-cooled UCE engine which generates 19.2 bhp at 5,250 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. This unit is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and returns a claimed fuel efficiency of 37 kmpl.
    However, in the coming time, this powertrain is set to be replaced by the new 349cc single-cylinder unit which made its debut in Meteor 350 a few months back. The new engine generates an output of 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm of peak torque.
    Upcoming motorcycles in Royal Enfield’s armoury
    After an update, the Bullet will also be underpinned by the new J platform which will form the base for all future Royal Enfield 350cc models. The brand is expected to feature at least four products in the 350cc retro classic motorcycle category. This includes Meteor 350, Classic 350, Bullet 350 and Hunter 350 which was recently spied testing.
    Like most other automotive brands in India, Royal Enfield too underwent a lull period for nearly two years. However, things have started to show promise post Covid-19 induced lockdown with an increase in demand for personal mobility.
