A lot of thought process goes into creating a bobber motorcycle. In the render, you can see that the wheelbase has been extended quite a bit more than the standard Classic 350.The ground clearance is lowered to give the rider that low-slung riding position. The handlebar is raised too. And then the leather-wrapped, coil spring suspended single-seat adorns the total look of the motorcycle.2023 Royal Enfield Classic 350 Bobber RenderThe Vintage Red colour gives the motorcycle that mandatory old-world charm. How can we talk about a Royal Enfield motorcycle without mentioning its curvaceous body panels? It’s like peanut butter without peanuts. The sculpted metallic fuel tank in the render is a little different from the Classic 350 cruiser. This redesigned fuel tank gives the motorcycle that bobber feel.The render also gets bar-end rear view mirrors finished in black. The engine compartment gets a blacked-out finish to give a sporty appeal. The Classic 350 Bobber render also gets some side body panels. No more, no less. Just the right amount. The Classic 350 Bobber render gets the same J-Series engine displacing 349 cc and developing 20.2 bhp of power @6100 RPM and 27 Nm of torque @4000 RPM.The Classic 350 cruiser motorcycle weighs 195 kg and the Bobber could weigh around the same. The cruiser motorcycle in production also gets spoked wheels at the front and back which our Bobber render also retains. In latest spy shots from the UK by Motorcycle News, we can see that the new motorcycle gets significantly broader seats to accommodate riders of all frames and sizes.Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 – New Spy ShotsIt is also expected to get comfier cushioning to give riders more support and comfort. This will also make sure that riders can ride farther on one stretch before needing to take a break further aiding Himalayan 450’s touring abilities.Rider’s triangle also seems to be better than Himalayan 411. This will aid the rider in daily commutes and as well as highway runs. Pillion seat looks like an upgrade too as it looks broader and better cushioned in comparison to Himalayan 411. The pillion will also appreciate the placement of the rear footpegs and big grab handle beneath them.Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Spied in the UKHimalayan will get a bigger 450cc single-cylinder petrol engine with an overhead camshaft. It will get oil cooling. It is expected to make more power and more torque than Himalayan 411. This will make it an even worthy opponent to the likes of KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G310GS. The engine might be coupled to a brand new 6-speed transmission instead of the 5-speed unit on Himalayan 411.The motorcycle will get spoked wheels at the front and rear. Wheels are expected to be 21” at front and 17” at the rear like Himalayan 411. Ground clearance on the newer model seems to be higher. This might be due to beefier forks with longer suspension travel. Final production version of Himalayan 450 will be slightly bigger than the outgoing Himalayan 411 and is also expected to weigh a little more due to the bigger engine.Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 FeaturesHimalayan 450 will get tubular frames at front and rear to hold luggage, panniers and jerry cans. It will also get a new vertically mounted instrument cluster which will easily fall in rider’s peripheral vision. Other expected features on the bigger Himalayan include, dual-channel switchable ABS, slip and assist clutch, some kind of riding modes with different throttle maps, GPS navigation on the instrumentation and maybe even ride-by-wire to make the throttle response better. Europe reckons that it can become carbon neutral by 2035. Looking at the old continent’s ambitious roadmap, other markets are also striving toward electrification including Indian EV market. And Sid Lal mentioned that the very first Royal Enfield electric vehicle will be revealed in three to four years. I mean, it is not an exact timeline. But it is now evident that Royal Enfield is working on an EV or at least has a plan on its mind.Royal Enfield Electric – Private ModificationBut four years of development and waiting is a lot. And you might be wondering how hard it could be to import batteries from China and slap it on an existing Royal Enfield platform replacing its engine and calling it a day. Right? The British brand prioritizes reliability, good engineering and consistency. If we take a look at the recently launched Hunter 350, its development started way back in 2016, six years ago. So, battery tech needs to improve significantly. Along with that, India should start manufacturing batteries here locally to reduce battery costs.Royal Enfield is in no hurry and will take their own sweet sweet time to roll out an EV that will be good, and also meet all expectations too. We say this because we also have other retro classic motorcycles in 350cc spectrum itself. But they have never made a dent like Royal Enfield motorcycles have. For example, we have Honda H’ness CB350 which sold 3,308 units in May 2022 while in the same month, Classic 350 sold 29,959 units.Even when we look at 500cc+ motorcycles sales charts, that whole segment is mostly driven by Royal Enfield 650 twins with 84.72% market share in June 2022. While every other big bike combined in India only accounts for just 15%. Such is the power of nostalgia Royal Enfield evokes. Now the British brand is making that nostalgia a little more accessible with the launch of Hunter 350.Royal Enfield Hunter 350 – SpecsHunter 350 will sit at the bottom of Royal Enfield’s portfolio in terms of pricing and also, weight. Hunter 350 is a modern interpretation of a retro bike and all design elements and finishes reflect just that. It gets all the retro bike credentials like round headlights, round taillights, round mirrors, fork gaiters, offset speedo like TVS Ronin, curvy and swoopy fuel tank and more.Adding modern vibes is a blacked-out finish at the engine bay and wheels. Fuel tank and side body panels get contrasting colours though which complement the blacked-out engine bay beautifully. But personally, I’m not too hot for its large ‘Royal’ branding on one side and ‘Enfield’ branding on the other side of the 13-litre fuel tank.Royal Enfield Hunter 350 SpecsBut fret not. This style is specific to one of Metro variant’s colour schemes. We say this because we have spotted another Metro variant that has a chick white fuel tank with not-too-shouty graphics. Royal Enfield is clearly going towards ‘urban roadster’ kinda appeal, but with a set of block pattern tyres, it can also come off as a scrambler-style bike too.Siddhartha Lal recently revealed a sneak peek at Metro variants which had a tripper screen. This will be offered as an option, though. We haven’t yet seen a Retro variant to understand how stripped-down it would look when compared to Metro. This is a departure from the bulky and chunky design that Royal Enfield bikes are generally associated with. Design seems to be heavily inspired by another British product, Triumph Street Twin. Hunter 350 will rival the upcoming Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle.In the earlier teaser, Royal Enfield had dropped a subtle hint of the possibility of launching the new Bullet 350 alongside Hunter 350. Their teaser had the tagline Bullet Meri Jaan. Bullet name is actually more popular in India than Royal Enfield’s own name. Bullet is RE and RE is Bullet.Specs & LaunchComing back to Hunter, the Retro variant only gets a disc at front and single-channel ABS. It gets spoked wheels, halogen bulbs all around, oval indicators, and classic analog instrument clusters. Hunter Metro, however, gets 270 mm disc at the rear and dual-channel ABS. It gets alloys, LED tail lamp, round indicators, and Meteor’s instrument cluster. Hunter 350 gets a seat height of 800mm, while ground clearance is at 150mm and fuel tank capacity is 13 liters.Royal Enfield Hunter 350Hunter 350 gets the same J-platform that’s currently doing duties in Classic 350 and Meteor 350. It has a twin downtube spine frame, telescopic front forks and twin rear shocks. Hunter is also powered by the same 349cc motor that makes 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Royal Enfield will launch Hunter 350 on 7th of August, 2022. When launched, it will lock horns with recently launched mixed-bag, TVS Ronin, Bajaj Dominar 250 and also the upcoming Bajaj-Triumph motorcycle. More
