    Royal Enfield Sales Breakup March 2023 – Classic, Bullet, Meteor, Himalayan

    Royal Enfield has announced sales for March 2023. During the past month, the company sold a total (domestic + exports) of 72,235 units, down from 67,677 units sold in March 2022. On a MoM basis, total sales (domestic and exports) stood at 71,544 units. The company has reported a growth in terms of YoY domestic sales while MoM sales dipped 7.06 percent. Exports on the other hand have seen growth both on a YoY and MoM basis.
    Royal Enfield sold 59,884 units in domestic markets in March 2023. This was a 2.41 percent YoY growth over 58,477 units sold in March 2022 relating to a 1,407 unit volume increase. MoM sales on the other hand dipped by 7.06 percent from 64,436 units sold in March 2022.

    It was the RE Classic 350 that topped sales charts with 24,466 units sold last month, down 25.17 percent as against 32,694 units sold in March 2022. The RE Classic 350 commands a 40.86 percent share. MoM sales were also in the red, down 10.91 percent from 27,461 units sold in Feb 2023. The RE Hunter was at No. 2 with 10,824 units sold in March 2023 with an 18.07 percent share on this list. It was a MoM de-growth of 16.26 percent from 12,925 units sold in Feb 2023.
    Sales growth was seen for the RE Bullet 350 with improved 3.77 percent YoY and 4.41 percent MoM to 8,595 units in March 2023. There were 8,283 units sold in March 2022 and 8,232 units sold in Feb 2023. This took its share percentage up to 14.35 from 12.78 percent MoM.

    Thereafter Royal Enfield has suffered de-growth in terms of domestic sales of the Meteor 350 (6,211 units), Electra 350 (3,374 units) and Himalayan (2,633 units). However, sales of the 650 Twins improved both YoY and MoM to 1,488 units. The Super Meteor 650, a new entrant to this list, featured ahead of the 650 Twins with 2,293 units sold in the past month and a share of 3.83 percentage above the 2.48 percent share held by the 650 Twins.

    RE Hunter Tops Exports in March 2023
    Posting growth in exports by 34.25 percent YoY and 73.76 percent MoM, Royal Enfield exported 12,351 units in the past month, up from 9,200 units sold in March 2022 and over 7,108 units exported in Feb 2023. RE Hunter 350 as the most exported model in its portfolio. There were 4,814 units shipped in the past month, a MoM growth of 192.64 percent over 1,645 units exported in Feb 2023. This took the Hunter 350 share to 38.98 percent in March 2023 from 23.14 percent held in Feb 2023.
    At No. 2 was the Classic 350 with 0.62 percent YoY growth to 2,597 units in March 2023 from 2,581 units sold in March 2022. MoM exports improved by 50.03 percent from 1,731 units shipped in Feb 2023. Exports of the Super Meteor were ahead of the Meteor, 650 Twins and Himalayan in March 2023. Super Meteor exports stood at 1,678 units in the past month.

    At No. 4, Meteor 350 exports increased substantially by 56.88 percent YoY and 62.64 percent MoM to 1,641 units in March 2023. This was against 1,046 units shipped in March 2022 and 1,009 units exported in Feb 2023. Exports of both the 650 Twins and Himalayan dipped YoY and MoM. 650 Twin exports fell 51.60 percent YoY to 1,051 units from 2,097 units sold in March 2022 while it was a 47.98 percent MoM de-growth from 1,951 units shipped in Feb 2023. Himalayan exports were down to 606 units in the past month, a YoY de-growth of 82.57 percent from 3,476 units shipped in March 2022 and down 21.50 percent MoM from 772 units exported in Feb 2023.     In keeping with its four motorcycles per year strategy, Royal Enfield has a lot on its hands right now. Starting from the lower end, the Chennai-based bikemaker is testing a new Bullet 350, Himalayan 450, Scrambler 450, Himalayan 650, Scram 650, Royal Enfield Shotgun 650, etc
    After launching Super Meteor 650, updated Interceptor 650 and 650 GT earlier this year, Royal Enfield seems to be strengthening its 650cc portfolio with another offering. That is Shotgun 650. There have been multiple test mules of that in 2022, but got less frequent after that. Recently, a near-production version of Shotgun 650 was spotted testing on road. Is this a hint for an imminent launch? Let’s take a look.
    Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 – Spied On Video
    Shotgun 650 was first showcased as a stunning concept at EICMA 2021 and ever since, has been a highly anticipated bike from the marque. It has been attracting a lot of eyeballs from general consensus and celebrities alike, including Fast & Furious fame Sung Kang. It is so, because of how attractive the concept looked.
    The near-production test mule spotted recently, retains much of the concept’s look. Which is a good thing. This RE motorcycle looks muscular all along. One can say that it resembles very closely to the recently launched Super Meteor as well. Sure, Royal Enfield will keep componentry like front USD forks, rear twin shocks, headlights, instrument cluster and most things. Video is credited to Kshitij.
    Royal Enfield plans to launch multiple new 650cc motorcycles
    Owing to different characters, there will be differences as well. Even though headlights are similar, Shotgun 650 gets a different headlight housing, made of machined aluminium like on Scram 411. Fuel tank is different, and so is the rear section. Tail light housings might be similar, but on Shotgun 650 test mules, turn indicators are closer to tail light than in Super Meteor.

    Riding position looks more relaxed, lending Shotgun 650 a different rider triangle. Test mule features alloy wheels, Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 won’t be getting 19” front and 16” rear as we saw with Super Meteor. When launched, Royal Enfield is likely to offer a single-seat option as well.
    Specs & Features – 650 cc Shotgun
    The same 648cc air/oil cooled parallel-twin engine making 47 bhp of power and 52 Nm of torque will be kept as is. There might be a slightly different tune on Royal Enfield’s upcoming 650cc Shotgun, suiting its character. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch.
    Features might include a USB socket to charge mobile phones. Speaking of mobile phones, we expect Shotgun 650 to come with Bluetooth connectivity and GPS, enabling turn-by-turn navigation as standard fitment. When launched, Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 will lock horns with other neo-retro-styled bikes like Kawasaki Z650RS, Benelli Leoncino 500 and the likes. Domestic sales commanded an 88.02 percent share.Exports also improved by 23.48 percent in FY 2022-23 to 1,00,055 units from 81,032 units sold in FY 2021-22 with an 11.98 percent share. This took total sales (domestic + exports) to 8,34,895 units in FY 2022-23 from 6,02,268 units sold in FY 2021-22. It was volume growth of 2,32,627 units making the highest ever overall sales in the history of the company.Royal Enfield In FY 2024 – Even higher sales?There is a huge possibility that RE will break their sales record in FY2024. The company has planned multiple new launches in the coming year which will help boost sales even further.2023 started with Royal Enfield launching their flagship motorcycle – Super Meteor 650 cruiser. Recently they updated 650 INT and GT 650 with new features, colours and engines that now comply with new BS6 Phase 2 emission standards. It was however a MoM decline in sales by 15 percent when compared to 16,574 units sold in Jan 2023. Bullet 350 sales increased by 27.99 percent on a YoY basis while sales fell 15 percent MoM to 8,232 units. There had been 6,432 units sold in Feb 2022 and 9,685 units sold in Jan 2023. This dip in MoM sales brought share percentage down to 12.78 from 14.31 held in Jan 2023.Royal Enfield Domestic Sales % Share – Feb 2023Sales of RE Meteor 350 have fallen both YoY and MoM to 6,698 units. this was a marginal 0.76 percent YoY decline from 6,749 units sold in Feb 2022 while it was a 12.12 percent de-growth over 7,622 units sold in Jan 2023. Royal Enfield has seen sales growth for the Electra 350 by 49.12 percent YoY to 5,109 units in Feb 2023 from 3,426 units sold in Feb 2022. MoM sales also improved considerably by 21.41 percent from 4,208 units sold in Jan 2023.In the more powerful segment, sales of RE Himalayan (2,841 units) and 650 Twins (1,170 units) fell 4.57 percent and 52.61 percent respectively in Feb 2023. The two models did experience MoM growth by 13.69 percent and 19.39 percent respectively as against 2,499 units and 980 units sold in Jan 2023. In more recent news, the company has brought in the 2023 Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 with new feature updates. Sales increased YoY and MoM for the RE Classic 350 in global markets to 1,731 units up 18.89 percent YoY and 14.11 percent MoM.RE Exports % Share Feb 2023The new Hunter 350 posted exports of 1,645 units which was a 9.12 percent MoM decline from 1,517 units shipped in Jan 2023. In the 350 cc segment, the RE Meteor also saw a YoY decline in exports by 24.65 percent to 1,009 units from 1,339 units shipped in Feb 2022 while MoM exports increased 59.40 percent over 633 units shipped in Jan 2023.
