      Royal Enfield has an interesting array of new models planned for launch in the New Year. These include the next gen RE Classic 350, Interceptor 350, facelifted Interceptor / Continental 650 and a 650cc cruiser bike. But ahead of all that, Royal Enfield will launch an updated version of the Himalayan.
      Launch was expected to take place last month, but that did not happen. But now, first units of the updated Himalayan motorcycle have started arriving at company dealership. Here are latest spy shots – credit to automotive enthusiast Ram Prasath and Gideon Tony.

      As can be seen in the spy image, 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan comes with an all new shade of Green. Apart from the new colour, it also gets Tripper Navigation system, that is already on offer with Meteor 350. The Meteor 350 was the first bike to receive this feature which will now be extended to other bikes in the company lineup.
      Tripper Navigation allows riders to connect their smartphones to the system via Bluetooth and receive turn navigation details. Along with this Tripper Navigation, the 2021 RE Himalayan will likely see updates in the form of a new headlamp which will sport an LED ring to work as a DRL.

      New colour options are also be a part of the update. The current Himalayan is presented in color options of Granite Black, Snow White, Sleet Grey, Gravel Grey and Rock Red. New colours include Green, White and Silver.
      Engine and Transmission
      The 2021 RE Himalayan will be powered by the same 411cc, single cylinder engine which was recently updated to BS6 emission standards. This engine makes 24.3 bhp power at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm torque at 4,000 to 4500 rpm. The engine gets mated to a 5 speed gearbox.
      2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan will be equipped with disc brakes at both ends while it will receive dual channel ABS for enhanced braking performance. Suspension duties will be handled via telescopic forks in the front and a monoshock unit at the rear.
      As per the leaked pricing, new Himalayan is expected to get costlier by about Rs 20,000 – taking the price to about Rs 2.51 lakh. Official launch is expected to take place in the coming days.

      Post this, Royal Enfield has plans to launch the Classic 350 new generation. It expected by April 2021 while the updated 650 Twins with alloys, new Tripper turn-by-turn navigation – will launch either this month of next. More

      Popular among adventure enthusiasts, Royal Enfield Himalayan is set to receive new features and updates with the 2021 model. Although the company has not officially announced the launch date of 2021 Himalayan, it is expected very soon.
      The updated model can boost Himalayan sales in both domestic as well as international markets. As may be recalled, Himalayan is the second most exported Royal Enfield motorcycle, next only to the 650 twins.

      Ahead of its launch, the New Royal Enfield Himalayan has now been leaked via the official RE website. Vlogger Bullet Guru has managed to share exclusive images of the 2021 Himalayan while it was LIVE on the company website.
      These leaked images were saved when Royal Enfield was most likely testing the updated Himalayan and its features / customisations on offer via the official website and the mobile app. As per the leak, price of 2021 Himalayan is Rs 2,51,565, ex-sh.

      It is not clear if this price is with the panniers / customization or without. If it is with the panniers, then the price is same as current Himalayan. If not, than the new Himalayan comes with a price hike of Rs 20k. More details will be available at the time of launch.
      Royal Enfield Himalayan 2021 – New colours
      2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan is more about functional improvements rather than visual updates. In terms of design, it remains largely the same as earlier. However, it does provide more personalization options to customers in the form of three new colours. These are Pine Green, Mirage Silver and Granite Black.
      A unique aspect about the new colour themes is that these motorcycles will have contrasting brown seats. While the brown seat compliments the look and feel of Mirage Silver and Granite Black colours, it looks a bit radical with the Pine Green colour option. The brown seat is expected to offer more comfort, as it utilizes high density foam.

      With the introduction of new colours, some of the earlier options have been removed. The ones that have been retained include Lake Blue, Gravel Grey and Rock Red.
      Another update is the taller windshield, which will provide improved protection against the wind. It also enhances the motorcycle’s road presence. Other design elements are the same as earlier such as round headlamp and rear view mirrors, sculpted fuel tank, sleek turn indicators, upswept exhaust and slim tail section.

      Tripper Navigation
      2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan is likely to get Tripper navigation system that displays navigational arrows on a dedicated screen located next to the primary instrument pod. A segment-first feature, the Tripper system was first introduced with Royal Enfield Meteor 350. It seems even more relevant for adventure-ready Himalayan.
      Tripper system is hugely beneficial, as users don’t need to use their smartphone to see navigational directions. They just need the Royal Enfield app to connect to the Tripper system and enter the required destination. Once that is done, the Tripper screen continues to display navigational arrows. It works with Google maps in the background.

      Updated front rack and rear carrier
      To avoid reported issue of knees touching the front rack, Royal Enfield has shifted it a bit forward and also made it slightly shorter. The rear carrier has also been updated with the use of flat surface metal plate. This should make it sturdier and allow users to carry more luggage. Other equipment such as engine, frame, suspension and braking setup will be the same as earlier.

      One of the popular adventure-ready motorcycles in the country, Royal Enfield Himalayan will soon be launched in its updated avatar. Himalayan has been witnessing good demand in global markets as well and is currently the second most exported Royal Enfield motorcycle. The updated model could help boost sales further.
      Updated Himalayan design and colours
      In terms of design, updated Himalayan will be largely the same as earlier. A few minor changes can be incorporated, for example, a redesign of the metal frame mounted near the fuel tank. In the current model, the frame has been reported to inconvenience some taller riders, as it used to touch the knees.
      In the updated variant, the frame looks smaller and more forward-set. This will hopefully address any issues that riders may have faced when riding the current model.
      In line with the company’s strategy to increase personalization options for customers, 2021 Himalayan will get new colour options. These are shades of silver, matte black and pine green.

      It is possible that some existing colours such as solid white may be discontinued. In its current iteration, Himalayan is offered in colour options of Gravel Grey, Sleet Grey, Snow White, Granite Black, Rock Red, and Lake Blue.
      Updated Himalayan to get Tripper navigation
      One of the most important updates for 2021 Himalayan will be Tripper navigation, which was introduced for the first time with Royal Enfield Meteor 350. A segment-first feature, Tripper navigation is advantageous for users, as it does away with the need to use the mobile screen for turn-by-turn navigation. Tripper navigation system has a dedicated display unit located near the main instrument console, which displays the navigational arrows for the destination.
      For using Tripper navigation, users just need to pair it with their smartphone and use the Royal Enfield app to get directions to the destination. It is to note that Tripper display only shows navigational arrows and not calls or messages.
      2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan Granite Black
      Engine will be the same as the current model, a 411 cc BS6, air cooled, FI unit that is capable of churning out 24.3 bhp of max power and 32 Nm of max torque. It is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. It was expected that power and torque output may be increased on the updated Himalayan – but that is not going to be the case.
      Mechanical parts will be the same as earlier such as the half-duplex split cradle frame, 41 mm telescopic front forks and monoshock with linkage suspension at the rear. Braking duties are performed by 300 mm disc at the front and 240 mm disc at the rear. Himalayan is offered with dual-channel ABS (switchable to single channel).
      With the updates, new Himalayan could cost slightly higher. The current model retails in the range of Rs 1.91 lakh to Rs 1.96 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).

      The Royal Enfield Himalayan is set to receive a minor model year update and the prototype has been spotted testing in Chennai again. While there are no significant visual changes to the motorcycle, it will incorporate new features.
      2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan – What’s new?
      While it is not visible in this spy shot, the 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan is equipped with the Tripper Navigation feature that debuted on the recently launched Meteor. The Tripper Navigation is essentially a smartphone-enabled turn-by-turn navigation system.
      So, it is reasonable to expect an updated instrument cluster with at least one small circular dial with colour display for navigation just like the one of Meteor 350. Going with previous Royal Enfield updates, it is reasonable to expect new colour themes.
      The spy shot above is credit to automotive enthusiast Hidayath, who managed to click it while the motorcycle was on test in Adyar, Chennai. The rider of the Himalayan on test was wearing Royal Enfield accessories – shoes, jacket, gloves and helmet.

      Specifications
      When it comes to engine specifications, we don’t expect any major changes since the 411 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine received BS6 emissions upgrade not long ago. We are expecting the motor to make headway in the refinement department. In its current state of tune, the fuel-injected motor has 24.3 hp and 32 Nm of torque. The 5-speed gearbox will be carried forward.
      The 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan is expected to be introduced in within the first quarter of next year. The retro classic specialist is also gearing up for a comprehensive product launch campaign in 2021. The eagerly awaited next generation Classic 350 based on the new J Platform is slated to introduced in the first half of next year. It will soon be followed by more new models in the 350 cc space. A flagship 650 cc cruiser based on the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 platform is also in advanced stages of development.

      In November 2020, the adventure tourer managed to clock 1,550 units at a YoY growth of 95%. The KTM 250 family which includes the Adventure variant as well found 1,590 takers. In comparison, its rival Bajaj Dominar 400 posted sales of 856 units. With the two wheeler industry in general showing signs of improvement, the Himalayan is expected to maintain its sales momentum. The upcoming update would go a long way in enhancing its appeal.

      Himalayan Owner Modifies His RE With Suzuki 400cc Parallel Twin Engine

      Royal Enfield Himalayan is one of the most popular adventure tourer motorcycles in India. Apart from a decent experience on roads, its well proportioned dynamics provides a good off-roading experience. Although, its low power and torque output could be a slight bummer on rough terrains.
      Fans of Royal Enfield are of the opinion that Himalayan should be offered with a larger engine, probably a twin-cylinder unit like the Interceptor and Continental GT which utilize a 650cc parallel-twin engine. As per reports, a more powerful Himalayan is in the making. But it will not come anytime soon, hopefully it arrives in 2022.
      But before that, a workshop in Punjab has modified single cylinder Himalayan into a twin-cylinder Himalayan. Vlogger Abhinav Bhatt has shared a detailed video about this modified Himalayan Parallel Twin.
      Updated Powertrain
      The workshop has used a 400cc DOHC parallel-twin engine from a 1990s Suzuki GS400e. This engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and returns an output of 39 bhp and 28 Nm of torque. That is 15 horses more than the stock Himalayan. Moreover, this unit is a lot smoother and refined than the 411cc single-cylinder unit despite being a carbureted machine.

      Plus the six-speed gearbox ensures a wider spread of torque which results in a linear delivery of power. According to Bhatt, this bike revs more cleanly and due to a twin-cylinder setup vibrations are almost nil. This modified bike gets two 36 mm Mikuni carburettors which ensures a better mixture of air and fuel.
      Better Performance
      Moreover, this twin-cylinder engine has been fitted into the same chassis with only minor tweakings to its dynamics. This bike now returns around 25 kmpl as average fuel efficiency. There is no alteration to Himalayan’s design what-so-ever barring the additional exhaust of the extra cylinder. Also, the exhaust note is throaty yet very refined and would definitely make for an effortless cruiser.
      Abhinav claims, this modified Himalayan can do 140 kmph easily, without any exaggeration. The owner claims to have clocked a top speed of 150 kmph on the twin-cylinder Himalayan. This is certainly a lot higher than what a stock Himlayan could achieve.

      Royal Enfield is arguably the most popular Indian bike brand overseas. True that most of it has to do with the company’s rich British heritage but the manufacturer has come up with solid and reliable products in the recent past which have been the prime reasons for expansion of its overseas markets.
      Now the bikemaker in association with UK distributor Moto GB has announced the launch of an Adventure Edition of its adventure tourer motorcycle Himalayan in Britain. This special edition model of the tourer comes with several accessories as standard to make it adventure-ready straight from the showroom.

      Accessories Onboard
      The list of accessories includes standard aluminium panniers and mounting rack, handguards, and black engine crash guards which are otherwise offered as optional fitments. The panniers are the biggest highlights which are installed along the brackets to provide necessary storage area for the rider’s personal belongings. Although all these accessories are available at dealership levels and do not come factory fitted.
      This limited edition model is offered at a price of GBP 4,799 equivalent to INR 4.73 lakh which is a premium of GBP 400 (INR 39,446) over its base variant. The idea behind this is to provide an adventure-ready motorcycle to the buyer straight from the showroom without any hassle. The option of customizing accessories according to one’s choice is also open.

      Himalayan Details
      Apart from these additional accessories onboard, there are no mechanical or aesthetic changes made to the Himalayan. It is based on the same half-duplex split cradle frame while suspension duties are carried out by 41mm front telescopic forks at front with 200mm of travel and a rear mono-shock unit with 180mm of travel. Anchoring is taken care of by a 300mm disc at front and 240mm disc at rear that are assisted by dual-channel ABS.
      In terms of its powertrains, it is powered by a BS6 compliant 411cc single-cylinder engine which produces 24.5 bhp at 6500 rpm and 32 Nm at 4000 – 4500 rpm. This unit is linked to a 5-speed gearbox. The latest BS6 models are also available with dual-tone colour variants.

      The company recently launched its much-hyped Meteor 350 in Thailand just a few days after its India launch. The cruiser has been developed by Royal Enfield as a global product and it intends to launch it in several overseas markets in the near future. Apart from this, the Chennai-based bikemaker is also looking to launch a new generation of Classic 350 in coming months which is likely to be powered by a new 350cc mill same as the one offered in Meteor.       Royal Enfield Himalayan in New Blue Livery for Argentinian Police

      Royal Enfield has literally spread its wings just like its symbol when it inaugurated its first overseas assembly plant in Argentina
      A couple of days ago Royal Enfield announced that it will be setting up a new manufacturing facility in Argentina which will assemble some of its models locally. These models include the Himalayan, Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. This is the brand’s first overseas manufacturing facility outside India.

      The facility is situated in Buenos Aires, the country’s capital. It has been set up in partnership with Grupo Simpa, Royal Enfield’s local distributor in Argentina since 2018. Considering the monumental development, the inauguration event was attended by none other than Alberto Fernández, President of Argentina.
      In addition, the country’s police has employed the services of Royal Enfield Himalayan. The police have inducted a specific number of Himalayan units into its force, with special blue livery. There are also some modifications made, it has the PFA (Argentina Police) logo on the fuel tank of Himalayan, there is a PA system installed along with police lights.
      Himalayan in Indian Police

      This is a proud moment for Indian bike brand Royal Enfield as well as its fans in India, as a Police Force of another country inducts RE motorcycles into their force for official use. Himalayan is being used by select units of the Indian Police as well. Some time back, Royal Enfield in association with Bengaluru Police drafted ‘We for Women‘. This is an all women police officer’s brigade – focusing on making life for women and children safer in the city.
      Apart from Argentina, the iconic Indian bike maker has five exclusive stores in China while there are 31 stores and 40 other retail touch points spread across Latin America. Overall, the brand has its presence in over sixty countries across the globe. Furthermore, with new launches lined up, Royal Enfield may decide to locally produce the upcoming models in Argentina and export it to the rest of Latin America.
      Upcoming Launch
      In India, Royal Enfield is currently gearing up for the launch of the much anticipated Meteor 350 which will replace the Thunderbird 350 and 350X from the company’s lineup. The Meteor 350 will be a cruiser motorcycle and will be offered in three derivatives- Fireball, Stellar and Supernova.
      The Meteor 350 is going to be the first model under the new range of UCE350 motorcycles from Royal Enfield. This new range will employ a completely new 350cc air-cooled motor and a brand new platform called ‘J1D’. This new engine ditches the old push-rod tech for a SOHC setup. The new generation classic 350 will also fall under this category.
      The new 350cc powertrain is said to put out 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm of peak torque. This is 0.4 bhp more but 1 Nm less than the older unit. The bike will come with technology such as Bluetooth technology, inbuilt turn-by-turn navigation called ‘Tripper Navigation’ and much more. The bike is expected to go on sale in a few days’ time. More
