    Already the top selling bike in 200cc-500cc segment, things are going to get even more interesting with launch of next-gen Classic 350. The updated bike packs in a range of visual enhancements, functional improvements and new engine and chassis.
    Ahead of its launch on September 01, the motorcycles have started arriving at dealers across India. Hat tip to automotive enthusiast Keshav, for sharing exclusive photos of new RE C350 while it was being off-loaded from a transport trailer and being moved into a dealership.
    New-gen Classic 350 key updates
    Some of the key changes include new headlamp with new pilot lamps, updated fuel tank graphics, new exhaust design and new tail lamp unit. Users can expect a better experience, as the bike has wide and comfortable seats for both rider and pillion. While the handlebar is the same as earlier, the ergonomics have been improved with revisions in grips, switch cubes, info switch and oval master cylinder.
    Other key features of new-gen Classic 350 include integrated ignition and steering lock, semi-digital instrument cluster with LCD info panel, and USB charger. The bike gets Bluetooth-based Tripper navigation that comes with dedicated TFT display device. It is powered by Google navigation. Tripper system was introduced for the first time with Meteor 350. Several other Royal Enfield bikes are also expected to get Tripper navigation system.

    A range of new colour options will be available with next-gen Classic 350. As per reports, new Classic 350 will have five variants. While the lower four variants will have two colour options each, the top-spec variant will have three dual-tone colour options. The top-spec model will make liberal use of chrome.
    New-gen Classic 350 engine and specs
    Powering next-gen Classic 350 will be the new 350cc, air-oil cooled motor that first debuted with Meteor 350. It is capable of generating 20.2 bhp of max power and 27 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. As compared to current model, power output has increased by 1.1 bhp. However, torque output is down by 1 Nm. This is unlikely to make any major difference in real world riding conditions.
    Chassis has been updated, featuring a twin downtube spine frame. The current unit is a single downtube frame that uses engine as stressed member. Working together, the new engine and frame have achieved significant improvements in ride dynamics. Vibrations have also reduced dramatically, as already noted by Meteor 350 users.
    New RE C350 Arrives At Dealer Showroom
    Both front and rear tyres are now wider, as compared to that of existing model. Brake discs are larger; 300 mm at front and 270 mm at rear. The current model has 280 mm / 240 mm discs, respectively. Users will have the option to choose between single and dual-channel ABS.

    The entire motorcycling community in India is presently awaiting the launch of the highly anticipated new-gen Royal Enfield Classic 350. The Chennai-based modern classic bikemaker recently took to social media to confirm that the new Classic 350 will be launched on September 1.
    In recent months, many details of the upcoming motorcycle have been revealed through various spy shots leaked on the internet. Also, the bike has managed to garner attention due to the excessive number of colour options available. Multiple colour options of the new-gen Classic 350 have come to light from recent spy videos and images.
    New Classic 350 Colour options
    Reports have indicated that the new Classic 350 will be made available in five variants. Barring the top-spec trim, rest of the four variants will be offered in two colour options each.
    The top-spec model will offer three dual-tone paint schemes, each of which will be complemented by heavy doses of chrome. The upcoming lineup of the modern retro motorcycle will offer new colour options such as Stealth Black, British Green and Glossy Grey.
    Royal Enfield Classic 350 New Colour
    While some of them like the British Green option will offer tan brown leather seats, the other will offer black seats. Some variants will offer mechanical components such as handlebar, rearview mirrors, headlamp bezels and exhaust tailpipe embellished in chrome whereas others will get these parts blacked out.
    A few other paint schemes expected to be included are Light green, Khakhi, Stealth black, dual-tone red and black and white. The new-gen Classic will also get Signals Edition as one of its variants which are more likely to be offered in light green and khaki. The Signals Edition is a tribute to all men and women of the defence and paramilitary forces.
    Retro-Style design
    Apart from new colour options, the overall design of the new Classic 350 is more of an evolution with most of the styling of the outgoing model retained. This includes a round halogen headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank with rubber grips, tiger-eyed position lights, etc. Like the current-gen Classic, the upcoming model will be sold in both single- and dual-seat derivatives.

    The new-gen Classic 350 will be underpinned by an all-new J platform which made its debut with Meteor 350 late last year. The new double downtube frame will be suspended on conventional telescopic forks at front and dual shock absorbers at rear. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes on both wheels and assisted by a dual-channel ABS as standard.
    Another major update will be a brand new 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that propels the bike. This motor kicks out 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm of peak torque.     Next-gen Classic 350 design and features
    The signature retro styling has been carried forward in most parts for new Classic 350. It’s one of the key things that define what the brand is all about. Most other new / next-gen product that Royal Enfield will introduce in the future will continue to use retro styling. Even the electric motorcycle that the company is developing will have retro styling. The only difference will be in the ratio of retro-modern features.
    In case of new Classic 350, the scales are tilted towards a retro-heavy profile. It is evident in the round headlamp and rear view mirrors, teardrop shaped turn indicators and fuel tank, and broad front and rear fenders. Both spoke and alloy wheel options will be available. Retro enthusiasts are most likely to choose the former.

    Liberal use of chrome garnish is another factor that enhances the bike’s retro profile. Chrome garnish can be seen on several components such as front and rear suspension, turn indicators, handlebar, engine casing and exhaust pipe. However, there will be colour variants that will have a blacked-out look.
    Some of the new colour options that will be available for next-gen Classic 350 include British Green and Glossy Grey. The seat colour will be accordingly adjusted. Some will have brown colour seats whereas others will get the standard black colour seats. In its current form, Classic 350 is available in colour options of Orange Ember, Stealth Black, Chrome Black, Airborne Blue, Stormrider Sand, Gunmetal Grey, Classic Black, and Metallo Silver.
    Just like its predecessor, new Classic 350 will be available in both single seat and dual seat configuration. However, there’s a slight change in that the spring-based rider seat has been replaced with a standard option. It is expected that the seats will have improved cushioning to ensure more comfort and reduced vibrations.

    Royal Enfield has used its new J platform and the new 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine with Meteor 350. This setup will be used for new Classic 350 as well. Users have reported significant improvements in ride quality and vibration level with Meteor 350. Next-gen Classic 350 can be expected to deliver a similar level of performance.

    Ahead of its launch towards the end of this month, the new generation Classic 350 official media rides have started. Automotive enthusiast Darane Dany has spotted the new 2021 Classic 350 in a new colour scheme ahead of its launch. As revealed in spy shots earlier, the new-gen model carried the same retro design of a modern classic motorcycle. However, it has undergone major changes underneath its skin.
    Same Retro-Style Design
    The new-gen Classic 350 retains its modern retro-style design of the outgoing models with signature elements such as a round halogen headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank with rubber grips, tiger-eyed position lights, etc. The spring under the rider’s saddle in the upcoming model has been given a miss.
    It will also receive some new colour options such as Stealth Black, British Green and Glossy Grey. The Green Classic 350 gets a brown colour single seat while the grey and black Classic 350 get black seats.
    While some variants will don a signature chrome finish on mechanical components like handlebar, exhaust pipe and engine casing, others will sport an all-black theme. Some older colour options such as the Signals Edition will be carried forward in the new-gen model.

    Numerous spy shots of the new generation Royal Enfield Classic 350 have been doing the rounds on the internet in recent times which suggest its launch might be around the corner. Test mules of the retro classic motorcycle have been spotted testing on the roads for a very long time which has revealed a few details.
    The latest set of spy pics have revealed another interesting feature about the upcoming new-gen Classic 350. The particular testing prototype was spotted tolling on curved, multi-spoke, dual-tone alloy wheels. These units are different from the one spotted in Signals Edition during a TVC shoot in Rajasthan a few weeks ago.
    Design
    Getting into the details, the new-gen Classic 350 retains its modern retro-style design of the outgoing models with signature elements such as a round halogen headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank with rubber grips, tiger-eyed position lights, etc. The spring under the rider’s saddle in the current Classic is not present in the new model.

    The tail section gets a round taillamp held in a redesigned housing accompanied by round turn indicators in line with the old-school design philosophy. The circular rearview mirrors are embellished in chrome in this model. The seats also get a ribbed pattern. As mentioned earlier, most of the design of Classic 350 has been retained in the new model.

    Next-gen Classic 350 design updates
    2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 continues with its signature retro profile that has remained one of its primary USPs. However, there are several smaller tweaks that give the motorcycle a distinct identity.
    A rugged looking circular headlamp cluster with integrated LED DRLs is among the key design highlights at the front. Other components such as handlebar grips and switchgear have also been updated.
    The instrument console has been refreshed and it comprises a display screen along with an analogue speedometer. It also gets a fuel gauge.     Next-gen Classic 350 seat design has been refreshed and it now comes with improved ergonomics, smoother curves and better cushioning. The 349 cc oil cooled OHC engine is capable of delivering 20.2 hp of max power and 27 Nm of max torque. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The new transmission uses fewer moving parts, which ensures smooth performance and higher reliability.
    Along with the new motor, the motorcycle also gets the new J1D platform. This replaces the earlier single downtube setup. The combo of new engine and chassis are expected to significantly reduce vibrations. We have already seen this with Meteor 350. Performance and handling are also expected to be better, as compared to the current model. In terms of safety, the motorcycle will have disc brakes at both ends, integrated with dual-channel ABS as standard. It will also get alloys and tubeless tyres.
    Classic 350 is currently the top selling motorcycle in 200-500 cc segment. Its market share is almost 50%.     The new-gen Classic 350 is expected to go on sale in a couple of weeks – It will feature a new powertrain and brand new underpinnings
    Since the last quarter of 2020, Royal Enfield has put on its aggressive avatar and is on a launch spree. The retro classic bikemaker had earlier announced that it would be launching four new or updated products every year for the next seven years. It started with the new Meteor 350 late last year and earlier the updated Himalayan and 650 Twins earlier this year.
    Going by the frequency of test mules spotted in recent times, we believe that Royal Enfield would next launch the new generation model of Classic 350. While we have earlier covered some details regarding its design and specifications, new information about the upcoming retro-styled motorcycle has leaked online.
    Updated Dynamics
    It has now been confirmed that the new Classic 350 will be underpinned by J1D architecture which made its debut in Meteor 350 last year. The company will be ditching the single downtube frame for a twin downtube spine frame while the engine will be used as a stressed member. This has proven to improve handling and dynamics of the motorcycle.
    The new dual-cradle frame will be suspended on 35 mm telescopic forks at front with a travel of 135mm and twin gas-charged shock absorbers with five-step preload adjustability and 80mm travel at rear.
    2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 with Alloys
    Braking setup has been revised in the new-gen Classic 350 with a 300mm single disc brake at front with twin-piston floating calipers and a 270mm disc brake at rear with a single-piston floating caliper. Safety net will be provided by dual-channel ABS.
    As far as rolling components are concerned, the new Classic 350 will be offered with 90/90 R19 wire-spoke wheels at front and 110/90 R18 wheels at rear as standard. Both wheels will be shod by tubeless tyres but buyers will get the option of tubeless tyres if they opt for alloy wheels. The manufacturer will also be offering a 90/90 19-inch alloy wheel at front and a 120/80 18-inch alloy wheel at rear as an option.
    Design
    No major changes will be made to its design since RE Classic’s retro appeal is a major USP for the bikemaker. Although we can expect minor updates such as a rounded pillion seat as standard with a new grab rail mounted onto the frame and a redesigned LED taillight. Other design highlights carried forward from the current model include a circular headlamp with chrome bezels surround, chrome-plated exhaust, broad rear fenders, circular rearview mirrors and a teardrop-shaped fuel tank.
