Tesla Recalls Model 3, Model Y for Loose Brake Bolts

Tesla is recalling 5974 Model 3 sedans and Model Y crossovers for loose brake caliper bolts that could come off and cause the caliper to come into contact with the wheel, which could lower tire pressure. The recall includes model year 2019–2021 Model 3 and 2020–2021 Model Y vehicles.Tesla hasn’t said when or how it will notify owners of affected vehicles.CLARIFICATION 6/3/2021, 9 p.m.: This story has been updated to add further details from NHTSA’s report as to the nature of the potential problem.Tesla is recalling just under 6000 Model 3 sedans and Model Y crossovers for loose brake caliper bolts that might disassemble and cause low tire pressures. The recall affects model year 2019–2021 Model 3 and 2020–2021 Model Y vehicles.

A recall report submitted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) states that the brake calipers are secured using two fasteners and that they might come loose over time if not secured properly. According to NHTSA, if a caliper were to “[make] contact with the inner surface of the wheel rim, the wheel may be prevented from freely rotating, which may cause loss of tire pressure,” meaning the tire is likely to drag along the road until it pops and loses air pressure. NHTSA’s report says that owners might be able to hear the caliper making contact with the wheel. The agency is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue. Late last year, Tesla was notified of a 2021 Model Y that had a missing bolt on the driver’s-side rear brake caliper and reviewed its production torque specifications. The automaker adjusted its production process to deal with the issue, according to NHTSA documents.Tesla has not yet said when or how it will notify owners of affected vehicles, but it will tighten or replace the bolts for free. Meanwhile, owners can contact Tesla customer service here or check the NHTSA recalls site to find out if their vehicle is involved and to stay informed.

2022 Buick Enclave Three-Row SUV Is Enhanced and Restyled

The Buick Enclave has been refreshed for 2022 with a restyled exterior and a tweaked center console with a push-button shifter.A host of previously optional driver-assistance features will now be standard across the lineup, including automated emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and automatic high-beam headlamps. The upscale Avenir trim benefits from interior enhancements intended to make Buick’s biggest SUV feel more luxurious, although it’s still not in BMW or Mercedes territory.Buick has given its flagship SUV a host of enhancements and upgraded its styling for 2022, and the result is a sleeker look and improved value. New headlamps and taillamps, reworked front and rear bumpers, and updated wheel designs give the three-row family hauler a more modern look. Inside, the center console has been tweaked and now features a push-button shifter that’s similar to that in the smaller Envision crossover.
The fanciest Avenir trim gets even fancier this year, thanks to new quilted leather upholstery, updated wood trim, and massaging front seats with heat and ventilation. All Avenir models also wear unique wheels, a special grille insert, and body-colored lower trim panels.

More driver-assist features are standard now, including previously optional technologies such as automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high-beam headlamps. To aid in parking, the Enclave now also comes with rear parking sensors and rear cross-traffic alert as standard. Adaptive cruise control remains optional.
To keep up with the times, the Enclave’s standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can now operate wirelessly. Other changes are minimal, and the Enclave retains its 310-hp 3.6-liter V-6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive optional. The Enclave’s updated styling and feature enhancements increase its desirability as a three-row family crossover, but its Avenir trim still doesn’t offer enough luxury or panache to outdo SUV offerings from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. However, its premium intentions and value-oriented pricing put it on a good footing to challenge rival crossovers such as the Cadillac XT6 and the Infiniti QX60.

Yezdi Roadking Name Trademark Filed – India Launch By Dec 2021

Yezdi Roadking test mule spiedWhile Yezdi will focus on domestic market, BSA will primarily target European countries
After resurrecting Jawa brand in 2018, Classic Legends is working aggressively on expanding its product portfolio. Currently, it retails three motorcycles, Jawa, Jawa forty two and Perak. The company has around 200 outlets across India and cumulative sales have been around 50,000 units. To power the next phase of growth, the company urgently needs to expand its product portfolio. That’s where Yezdi and BSA brands are going to play a critical role.
    Yezdi motorcycle
With Yezdi, Classic Legends can generate higher volumes. In FY2021, the company’s sales were 20,801 bikes (excluding data from Telangana, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh). At current volumes, it may become difficult for dealers to sustain their business in a profitable manner. Yezdi has good potential in the Indian market, as it is a popular name among enthusiasts. Just like Jawa, it also evokes a sense of nostalgia.
    Yezdi Roadking Testing
Yezdi motorcycle is planned to debut during the festive season, around pre-Diwali period. It will be using the same 293cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled motor that does duty on Jawa. It is capable of generating 27.33 PS of max power and 27.02 Nm of max torque. It is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission.
Yezdi could also borrow other hardware pieces such as suspension and brakes. It will be manufactured on the same assembly line that is currently being utilized for Jawa at the company’s production facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. Under the revival, Yezdi could name their first motorcycle as Roadking, appropriate trademarks have been filed.
    Yezdi Roadking Name Registered
    650cc BSA motorcycles
BSA brand has similar familiarity and fan following in European markets, just like Jawa and Yezdi in India. Birmingham Small Arms (BSA) was established way back in 1861. The iconic British motorcycle brand was bought by Mahindra a few years back for around Rs 28 crore.
Dedicated teams at Classic Legends are currently working to perfect a new 650cc engine. This will power multiple middleweight BSA motorcycles. The engine is being tested on various parameters such as dynamics, handling and emission compliance norms in UK. Simultaneously, the design of the motorcycle is being developed at the company’s design centre in UK.
BSA motorcycles will initially be launched in UK. They will be manufactured in India and assembled overseas. A dedicated assembly line has already been setup at Pithampur plant for manufacturing the premium BSA motorcycles. The new bikes could be unveiled at upcoming EICMA 2021 in Milan. However, launch timelines are not clear. These will take on 650cc motorcycles from Royal Enfield.
As per reports, Classic Legends is also working on an electric motorcycle that will be launched under BSA brand. For this, the company has been given a grant of 4.3 million pounds (around Rs 45.2 crore) by UK government.

Honda Two Wheeler Sales May 2021 – Activa, Dio, CB Shine, Hornet, CB350

Image – Takuli’s TalkHonda Two Wheelers reports slowdown in wholesales in May 2021 following surge in Covid-19 infections
The Indian auto market has yet again taken a hard hit In May 2021. With Covid-19 pandemic related pandemic infections and complications at an all time high in April and May 2021, manufacturers have had to rework procedures to reduce production. On the sales front, individual state levied lockdowns meant that dealerships were not open for sales, nor service.
Domestic sales for Honda Two Wheelers was even lower than in May 2020. This is when the country was beginning to open up for business in a phased manner having announced a complete and absolute lockdown in March 2020.
Honda domestic sales in May 2021
Domestic sales was reported at 38,763 units, down from 54k units. Sales volume declined by 15,237 units at 28.22 percent decline. This accounted for 67 percent of total business. The figures reported are nowhere close to the volume of business Honda usually does. Best sellers in the scooter segment were the likes of Activa and Dio. In the motorcycle segment, it was the CB Shine while in performance segment, Hornet as well as CB350 posted decent numbers.
Exports stood at 19,405 units having improved from the 820 units exported a year earlier. Exports accounted for 33 percent of total wholesale business last month. Total business stood at 58,168 units at 6.11 percent gain. Volume gain stood at 3,348 units, up from 54,820 units YoY.
    Honda Sales May 2021
    Current uncertainties for business
Keeping in mind the situation of May 2021, a meaningful MoM comparison isn’t possible. In April 2021, total sales was reported at 2,83,045 units. Of this, domestic sales were reported at 2.4 lakhs, and exports at 43k. The previous April, business stood at naught.
Given the difficult circumstances, one can expect sales to be subdued in June too. As states relax lockdown guidelines, chances are dealerships across more locations will open up for business. Even then, a lot would change in terms of actual business hours as shops are no longer open for the entire duration of a regular work day.
Current circumstances have compelled manufacturers to make business decisions based on ever-changing limitations and lockdowns. Given the myriad of uncertainties, coping and keeping up is difficult. Hence businesses are gauging risk factors and responding as appropriate.
Considering the totalitarian nature of a sudden lockdown last March, it took auto manufacturers months to report sales that appeared to be worth writing about. But a complete failure to gauge a potential second wave by the centre meant manufacturers were yet again pushed into a corner having had to resort to stopping or reducing production to a bear minimum. Given the lack of preparedness to deal with Covid-19, the arrival of any subsequent wave is likely to yet again push manufacturers to a corner. More

Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter To Tata Nexon EV To Get Cheaper As Govt Proposes No Registration Fees

Bajaj Chetak Electric ScooterThe draft notification proposed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is open for comments from public and stakeholders within 30 days
Government of India has been vigorously pushing towards adoption of electric vehicles in the country over the last few months. From concession on road tax for consumers and added concessions for local battery and components manufacturers in India, the Central Government has been pushing hard to adopt cleaner sources of power in automobiles.
As per the latest development, the government has drafted a proposal that exempts all battery-powered vehicles from registration charges in a bid to promote electric mobility in the country. This development comes at a time when demand for electric vehicles and transition to cleaner sources of mobility is slowly gathering momentum in India.
    More Details
While issuing a draft notification, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has proposed to exempt all Battery Operated Vehicles (BOV) from payment of fees for registration of a new vehicle as well as renewal of registration.
It also mentions exemption of fees for the assignment of a new registration mark. A copy of the above notification draft has been uploaded on the road and transport ministry’s official Twitter handle.
    Tata Nexon EV.
The notification further stated that comments from the general public and all stakeholders have been sought within 30 days from the date of issuance. The draft proposes an amendment to Rule number 81 of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 which states the various fees chargeable to consumers including issue and renewal of trade certificate for vehicles, issue of registration certificates, transfer of ownership and more.
Speaking of registration of EVs, India sees higher cases of registration of vehicles running on three wheels, although two-wheelers have also gained prominence ever since new EV brands have come into picture.
If this proposal is implemented, more customers will be drawn into buying EVs. This will help increase the demand for EVs in India which will, in turn, prompt manufacturers to make batteries in India thereby reducing the cost of battery manufacturing.
    EVs in India
At present, building batteries requires huge capital for all manufacturers which forms the bulk of the final cost of an EV. Two wheeler segment is led by the likes of Okinawa, Ampere, Hero Electric, Ather, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube and many others. The passenger vehicle segment in India, as of now, has very few options when it comes to cleaner sources of power. Tata Motors has two in the form of Tigor EV and Nexon EV which serve as entry-level models.
Going higher in the segment, there Hyundai Kona electric and MG ZS EV, both electric crossovers which are locally assembled in India. Apart from this luxury marques such as Mercedes Benz and Jaguar have launched their EV lineup with EQC and I-Pace respectively. Other makers such Audi and Volvo will also be launching new EVs in India in the coming few months. More

    2022 Jaguar F-Type Goes V-8 Only

Jaguar is simplifying its F-Type lineup to include only V-8 engines. The turbocharged four-cylinder and supercharged V-6 are no longer available. The new base model is powered by a 444-hp supercharged V-8 while the F-Type R still uses the 575-hp version. The 2022 F-Types are available to order now and will arrive next month starting at $71,050. Jaguar is dropping the F-Type’s four- and six-cylinder engines in favor of a V-8-only lineup after giving its sports car a new look and simplified engine lineup for the previous model year. It’ll now consist of two models: a new P450 model and the R model, and they will be on sale next month. Unfortunately, the move makes the entry point for Jaguar’s sports car $8300 more expensive.
The F-Type P450 is available as a coupe or convertible with either rear- or all-wheel drive. Its supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 produces 444 horsepower and 428 pound-feet of torque. Jaguar claims that both rear- and all-wheel-drive models will reach 60 mph in 4.4 seconds with a 177-mph top speed. The F-Type R still uses the 575-hp supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 with all-wheel drive, and in our test it reached 60 mph in 3.5 seconds on the way to a 11.7-second quarter mile at 121 mph.

Base models are equipped with 20-inch wheels, larger rear brakes, and an active exhaust system. All-wheel-drive models, which are named R-Dynamic, have gloss black trim and unique wheels. They’re available in 11 exterior colors, and there are even more available from Jaguar’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO).The 2022 Jaguar F-Type is available to order now starting at $71,050 for the P450 Coupe with rear-wheel-drive and $81,050 for the all-wheel-drive R-Dynamic Coupe. 2022 Lexus NX Will Make Its Debut June 11

Lexus has confirmed that a new NX is coming for 2022, and it will debut June 11.A teaser photo shows an interesting taillight setup with a full-width LED bar.The new NX will likely be offered in NX250, NX350, and NX350h versions. The second generation of Lexus’s NX crossover is nearly here, and we’re getting our first official glimpse of the new model thanks to this teaser photo. Ahead of the 2022 NX’s debut on June 11, we can see that it features a taillight setup with a full-width LED light bar and a Lexus script across the tailgate that appears to be in a new font.

We’ve already seen spy photos of the new NX, which show a similar silhouette as the current car. We think some of the bigger changes may be seen inside, as the current car’s interior is dated; we’re especially hoping that Lexus does away with the annoying infotainment touchpad that controls the central display screen in favor of a more modern touchscreen.Trademarks suggest that the NX lineup will include an NX250 model, possibly powered by a 2.5-liter inline-four, and an NX350, possibly powered by a 3.5-liter V-6. The hybrid version is likely to continue, with its NX350h designation suggesting that it could use the RAV4 Prime’s 302-hp plug-in-hybrid powertrain. We’ll learn more next week, as the NX will make its debut live on June 11 at 11pm on the Lexus website.

2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Is Taller with a Bright New Color

The 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and Trail Edition models are updated with new colors, slightly altered appearances, and new suspension setups. Electric Lime is the new TRD Pro–exclusive color, and Trail Edition models can now be ordered in Lunar Rock, last year’s TRD Pro-exclusive. They’ll be on sale at the end of the summer, and pricing is expected to start at around $35,000 and $45,000. Toyota continues to dabble with the trail-ready Tacoma mid-size pickup, which will introduce a new TRD Pro–exclusive color (pictured above) for the 2022 model year. The new Tacoma TRD Pro is slightly taller and has new wheels, and Toyota relocated some of the exterior badging. The lesser Trail Edition model is also slightly jacked up, and it’ll go on sale alongside the TRD Pro at the end of the summer.
The Tacoma TRD Pro gets jacked up with a 1.5-inch lift on the front axle and 0.5-inch at the rear compared to the previous model. It continues to be equipped with Fox internal bypass dampers with rear remote reservoirs, but a revised angle of the ball-joint mount on the new forged aluminum upper control arms help to make the most of the increased stroke enabled by the lift. The new setup increases to the numbers that matter for off-roaders: The approach angle increases 1.4 degrees and the breakover and departure angles are upped by 2.7 and 0.8 degrees, respectively. Trail Editions are also raised up—1.1 inches in the front and a half-inch out back—and along with the removal of the front air dam allows for a 2.0-degree increase at approach. That eye-incinerating new color is called Electric Lime, and it’s exclusive to the TRD Pro. A new set of 16-inch TRD Pro wheels are wrapped in Goodyear Territory all-terrain tires. Trail Editions are now available with 2021’s TRD Pro–exclusive color Lunar Rock (pictured below) and get bronze 16-inchers with all-terrain rubber. Their grilles, which are similar to the TRD Pro, get bronze lettering .
The Tacoma TRD Pro now has a debossed TRD Pro logo on its rear quarter-panel, like the Tundra TRD Pro, but “TRD” and “Pro” are separated on two lines. New graphics on the hood are available, too, and the TRD Pro badge on the door is replaced with a black Tacoma badge. Lame.

Both Tacomas are powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is offered, but we’d select the optional six-speed manual gearbox (#SavetheManuals). Both models can tow up to 6400 pounds. The 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and Trail Edition are only available in 4×4 Double Cab configurations, and they’ll arrive at the end of the summer leading into the fall. Pricing is expected to increase slightly over the 2021 models’ $45,500 and $35,180 starting prices.
