The 1100-HP Tesla Model S Plaid+ Has Been Canceled

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced late Sunday the Model S Plaid+, the most potent version of the car’s upcoming performance-oriented tri-motor “Plaid” variant, will not make it to production.
This content is imported from Twitter. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

In a series of tweets, Musk announced the Model S Plaid+ had been canceled because there’s “no need” for it in the lineup, claiming the regular Plaid model is “just so good.” The Model S Plaid+ was set to be the most capable car from Tesla yet. The company never released exact specifications, but said it would have over 1100 horsepower, be quicker than the regular Plaid model, and have more range—520 miles on a single charge versus just 390 miles for the standard Plaid model.

Musk sent a follow-up tweet promising the regular Plaid model will still do zero t0 60 in under two seconds (Tesla’s site claims an exact 0-60 of 1.99 seconds). Horsepower is set at 1020, and the quarter-mile comes in a claimed 9.23 seconds at 155 mph. So while it won’t have the range, the standard Plaid should still be a rocket ship. Tesla originally priced the Model S Plaid+ at $139,990 before hiking it up to $149,990 in March. Pricing for the regular Plaid model will start at $119,900 before any EV incentives or options. According to Tesla’s configurator, deliveries should start sometime in June.

Ferrari Dino: Everything We Know About the F8 Successor

The Ferrari F8 Tributo is only two years old, but the rocketship-quick mid-engined supercar is already a bit long in the tooth. We only met the F8 back in 2019 as a 2020 model, and even though Ferrari will never admit this next part, the F8 Tributo was really a stopgap measure to keep the 488 GTB competitive against the shockingly good McLaren 720S. Hence both cars having identical 711 hp outputs. Speaking of things Ferrari will never admit, the F8 is being replaced by a supercar with a hybrid V-6. And it’ll happen sooner than later.Meet the Dino, or perhaps the SF60, and yeah, we’ve made both names up. It’ll crib its platform from the Maserati MC20. We know the MC20 is mid-engine and makes use of an engine that shares features with Alfa Romeo’s 90-degree 2.9-liter V-6. Dubbed Nettuno, Maserati’s 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 makes 621 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque, plus it has a Honda CVCC-like extra set of spark plugs and mini-combustion chambers. Bringing it all full circle, both Maserati’s and Alfa Romeo’s V-6 engines are derived from Ferrari’s 3.9-liter twin-turbo V-8, only with two cylinders lopped off. Moreover, the carbon-fiber monocoque MC20 platform has been designed from the beginning to accept a battery-electric powertrain. Meaning motor mounts and wiring passages have been baked in from day one. A hybrid powertrain would be easy to implement in a platform designed for both gas and EV duties.Yes, the new entry-level mid-engine Ferrari will be a hybrid. A plug-in hybrid to be specific. Following in the footsteps of the mighty SF90, the forthcoming Ferrari will pack at least one electric motor to assist with forward propulsion. We’re hearing that the total system output will be in the 800 to 840 hp range, so we’ll guess three motors. We can do some easy extrapolating here. The SF90 has a total system output of 976 hp, with the gasoline-powered V-8 producing 769 hp. This means 207 of the peak combined hp comes from the hybrid part of the powertrain. And yes, “combined hp” is a black and mysterious art. Assuming the plug-in hybrid components are the same as those of the SF90, we simply add the 207 hp to the MC20’s 621 to get 828 hp—which would be 840 metric horses, a sum that also just happens to be the exact number given by our source. These things write themselves.See all 33 photosWe can also infer that the Dino will have the same—or a similar—battery as the SF90. That said, given the MC20’s chassis is smaller than the 458/488/F8 platform the SF90 is based on, it’s possible the new six-cylinder Ferrari will get away with a smaller battery pack. There will be a “pizza motor” sandwiched between the V-6 and the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (the MC20 also has an eight-speed dual-clutch). Expect two traction motors, one powering each front wheel, too. The front motors will handle the EV driving duties, just like in the SF90, as well as reverse because the dual-clutch gearbox has no reverse gear. This means that, like the SF90, this baby Ferrari can switch between front-wheel-, all-wheel-, and rear-wheel-drive settings, as the front motors stop spinning above 130 mph.We can infer another thing. This new car will be quicker than both the 812 Superfast and the 812 Superfast Competizione, as not only is the 812 a much more massive car that’s RWD only, but the “normal” version makes 789 hp, whereas the Competizione makes “just” 819 hp. The baby SF90 will be AWD, smaller, more powerful, and sport instantaneous electric torque. Again, a V-6—powered anything will be quicker than a big dog V-12 Fezza. And here you thought 2020 was crazy! The Superfast will be faster than the Dino, however, because it retains its glorious V-12’s full power output all the way to its 211-mph top speed. Maybe call the new car the Superquick? Just a thought. The question becomes when will we see this new machine? The answer is soon. We guess we’ll see the new Dino or SF60 or whatever Ferrari calls it on or around September 7—the first day of the 2021 Frankfurt Motor Show. Why not wait for Geneva? Because Ferrari has something even bigger planned. I’m talking about the brand’s first-ever SUV, the Purosange. Like the SF90 and this new V-6 model, the Purosange will also be a PHEV. We’ll go ahead and guess that the Ferrari SUV will make use of the fact the hybrid bits can mate to both the company’s V-6 and V-8 engines. All will be revealed in March. And we’ll learn everything about the Dino come September, though one source is saying Ferrari might reveal its $300,000-plus V-6 hybrid supercar even sooner than that—like maybe in the next month or two. Until then, yeah man, it’s a bit sad that the era of the mid-engine V-8 is coming to a close. But are you going to turn your nose up at a mini-hypercar packing potentially 828 horses? Didn’t think so. More

Ford Building More Mustang Mach-E EVs Than Gas-Powered Mustangs

Ford builds the Mustang at two plants, with the gas model being made in Michigan and the electric Mach-E coming from Mexico. So far in 2021, the production numbers are clear: 27,816 Mach-Es and 26,089 gas-powered Mustangs. The ICE Mustang still outsells the Mach-E by around 3 to 1 in the U.S., but that’s not the case in EV-forward places like Norway. If you’re looking for yet one more sign that the automotive industry is making a shift to electric vehicles, look no further than Ford’s 2021 production numbers. So far this year, Ford has built more electric Mustang Mach-E crossovers than gas-powered Mustang coupe and convertible models.Ford builds vehicles with the Mustang name in two locations. Gas-powered Mustang two-doors are made at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan. The electric Mustang Mach-E crossover is built at the Cuautitlan Stamping and Assembly Plant in Mexico. As first reported by Bloomberg, through the end of May, Ford built 27,816 Mach-Es and 26,089 standard Mustangs. The Mach-E was introduced last year, so this is the first time Ford has made more electric than gas ones.

These are global production figures, not sales numbers, of course. But Ford is seeing strong Mach-E sales in other countries, especially Norway, which has long been a leader in EV sales thanks to strong government incentives. Those incentives helped the Mach-E become the best-selling vehicle in Norway May, which was the first full month the EV was available there. The Mach-E sold 1384 units in Norway last month, about 10 percent of all vehicles sold there. Second and third place were held by plug-in vehicles as well, with the Toyota RAV4 hybrid and the Skoda Enyaq taking second and third place, respectively. In the U.S., Ford sold 1945 electrified Mustangs and 4436 gas-powered ones in May. For the first five months of 2020, Ford sold 10,510 Mach-Es and 29,710 gas-powered Mustangs. In California, which has the strongest EV support laws in the U.S., one out of every four Mustangs sold last month was a Mach-E. No matter where the Mach-E is being offered, Ford said the Mustang Mach-E “is essentially selling as soon as it hits dealer showrooms,” given the short, 10-day average turn time.”We are really excited about the success that we are having with our launch of the all-new Mustang Mach-E, not just here in America, but globally too,” a Ford sales analyst, Erich Merkle, told Bloomberg in an emailed statement. “To be fair, please keep in mind that Mustang and Flat Rock have been impacted by outside factors, which has been the semiconductor chip shortage.”Whatever the causes are for Ford to build more plug-in Mustangs than gas-powered ponies, this likely won’t be the last time this happens. Ford has made strong claims about it electrified future, and plans to offer 40 electrified vehicles globally by 2022, with 16 of those fully electric and the other 24 being plug-in hybrids. Ford’s EV plans are strong in Europe, where Ford expects all of its passenger vehicles to be all-electric by 2030.

2021 Kawasaki Ninja H2R BS6 Launched In India At Rs 79.90 Lakh

2021 Kawasaki Ninja H2R BS6Kawasaki Ninja H2R has no direct rival in the Indian market and has been strictly built for track usage
Kawasaki has announced the prices for the 2021 Ninja H2R in India. The track focussed motorcycle has been tagged at a whopping price of Rs. 79.90 lakh (ex-showroom) which is Rs 4 lakh dearer than the outgoing model. Since it has been built exclusively for track enthusiasts, Ninja H2R gets no headlights, turn indicators, rearview mirrors or a pillion seat.
    Aerodynamic Design
Over the same styling of its predecessor has been carried forward. This includes notable design highlights such as aerodynamic winglets, sharp front fairing, rider-only saddle and a single-sided swingarm. The aerodynamic blades are positioned in a place that is otherwise occupied by wing mirrors.
The single-sided swingarm allows the exhaust muffler to be mounted closer to the bike centreline instead of adopting an underbelly design. The sports bike wears the same Mirror Coated Matte Spark Black paint just as the previous iteration of the motorcycle. Being a track-only bike, it is offered with an extremely committed riding posture hence features supporting pads on the saddle as back support to the rider during acceleration.
    Dynamics ALA-MotoGP
For a litre-class motorcycle, it tips the weighing scales at a mere 216kg making it extremely nimble with a fuel tank capacity of 17 litres. The new Ninja H2R rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends which are wrapped around by 120/600 front and 190/650 rear sections of rubber. The steel Trellis frame underpinning H2R has suspended on 43mm upside-down forks at front and an Ohlins TTX36 gas-charged mono-shock at rear- both fully adjustable, which perform suspension duties.
    2021 Kawasaki Ninja H2R BS6
The motorcycle also benefits from an additional Ohlins electronic steering damper. Braking hardware comprises dual 330mm disc brakes at front chewed by four-piston Brembo M50 Monobloc calipers and a single 250mm rotor with two-piston Brembo caliper at rear. The sophisticated track-friendly dynamics are aided by a very powerful motor underneath.
    Lightning Performance
The motorcycle retains the same 998cc, inline four-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that pumps out 306 bhp at 14,000rpm and a peak torque of 165 Nm at 12,500rpm. The provision of a ram air intake pushes the peak power output to 322 bhp.
This engine is coupled with a six-speed gearbox which benefits from a slipper and an assist clutch along with a bi-directional quick-shifter for super aggressive shifts. The engine required unleaded petrol with an octane rating of RON95 or higher.
Performance is further aided by a plethora of ride-aided electronics controlled by a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sourced from Bosch. The IMU setup consists of cornering ABS, a multi-level Traction control system, slide control, launch control, wheelie control, and engine brake control. Additionally, the IMU gets a bank angle display and a recording function for maximum bank angle on the instrument cluster. More

Royal Enfield New Motorcycle Launches Will Be Highest This Year – CEO

Royal Enfield 650 Sultan By Neev MotorcyclesAlthough Covid-19 has led to disruptions of operations at many levels, Royal Enfield is still confident to launch multiple new models in FY2022
Despite the advent of many brands in the middleweight classic roadster segment in India, Royal Enfield remains the undisputed leader in this space. This has not only got to do with its massive consumer base across the country but also its sizeable production capacity, retail and service network and reliable supply chain management.
However, the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic has disrupted operations at every level. Despite the ongoing crisis of the pandemic, Royal Enfield is confident of making FY2021-22 an eventful fiscal year with numerous new model launches. In an interaction with Moneycontrol, Royal Enfield CEO, Vinod Dasari, shed some light on the company’s upcoming launches.
    Production Affected due to Covid-19
Despite the disruptions, Dasari announced that the company has planned some very big launches for the current financial year. He further added that even if the company does not receive any new bookings, it has enough backlog orders to clear which will keep the assembly line moving for at least the next 2-3 months.
Due to the outbreak of the second wave of novel coronavirus, production has been halved although full-scale production is expected to resume in the coming few days. Late last year, the Chennai-based bikemaker announced that henceforth it will be launching as many four models (new and upgraded) every year which meant one new launch every quarter.
Royal Enfield registers new name – SCRAM
Despite all constraints, the company intends to stick to this claim, however, Dasari admitted that the launch timeline of the products might be deferred by about a month. In Dasari’s own words, “This year will probably see the highest number of new models that are ever seen from Royal Enfield in a year”.
    Future RE models
Since November last year, Royal Enfield has launched one brand new model in the form of Meteor 350 and updated three others including Himalayan, Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. The brand’s next big-ticket launch is expected to be the new-gen Classic 350 which will be based on the J architecture as Meteor. Along with this, the company has planned a couple of 650cc models including a cruiser and a classic roadster.
The manufacturer is also reportedly developing a new scrambler based on the same 650cc parallel-twin chassis. The company recently filed a trademark for the same called ‘Scram’.
Another crucial new model slated to launch in the coming few months is the new roadster which goes by the name ‘Hunter’ and is expected to take on Honda CB350 H’Ness. According to Dasari, all these models are ready to be launched as they have already been in development for 3-5 years.

Top 10 Two Wheeler Exports April 2021 – Pulsar, Apache, Dio, FZ, CT

Image – Satyam GuptaBarring a few, all motorcycles have registered positive YoY growth in April
A total of 4,31,311 units were exported in April 2021, as compared to 45,880 units in April last year. YoY export growth is 840.09%. This higher than normal growth is linked to the countrywide lockdown that was imposed in March-April period last year. Another reason is that several global markets were also severely impacted by the pandemic last year. In 2021, the situation is not so acute in international markets.
In terms of volumes, Bajaj leads with four of its bikes in top ten list. TVS has two bikes occupying the second and fourth spot with Star City and Apache, respectively. Others bikes in top ten include two from Honda and one each from Hero MotoCorp and Yamaha.
Boxer ahead by a huge margin
Bajaj Boxer continues to dominate with exports of 1,20,460 units in April. YoY export growth is 673.57%, as compared to 15,572 units exported in April last year. Boxer share in exports is 27.93%. In international markets like Africa, Boxer is preferred for its rugged performance and low-cost maintenance.
At number two is TVS Star City with exports of 59,148 units in April. YoY growth is 757.84%, as compared to 6,895 units exported in April last year. Share in exports is at 13.71%. Star City is sold in several markets in Africa, Latin America and Asia Pacific.
    Two Wheeler Exports April 2021
Pulsar is third with exports of 42,537 units in April. YoY growth is 715.51%, as compared to 5,216 units exported in April last year. Share in exports is at 9.86%. Pulsar is popular in the Indian market as well. To provide more options to customers, Bajaj is expected to launch multiple 250cc Pulsar motorcycles. The range could include a naked, semi-faired and fully-faired version of 250cc Pulsar.
