In this journey, electric cars will also play a significant role. The company has realised this and has confirmed four new electric cars to launch in India, starting with the eVitara electric SUV, which will launch soon.
      4 New Maruti EVs Confirmed
      Maruti Suzuki has always been known for their budget and affordable lightweight hatchbacks. However, the company has taken great strides in UV segment (Utility Vehicles). Now, the focus has been expanded to incorporate electric cars into the mix, which is expected to provide the boost for Maruti Suzuki to regain its 50% market share aim.
      The company will launch its maiden electric vehicle, eVitara, soon in many major markets like Europe, Japan and even India. With the eVitara, Maruti Suzuki will open its electric vehicle innings in India, which will be followed by three more EV launches in the future, by the end of the year 2030.

      After the eVitara and Fronx electric, there is less clarity about Maruti Suzuki’s electric car onslaught. We can probably expect an electric version of Ertiga, considering it is India’s best-selling MPV and is an untapped segment. This vehicle might become popular by fleet operators too, a segment BYD has banked on.
      We can expect a small electric car from Maruti Suzuki as well, considering the brand’s unwavering commitment and dominance in the A Segment. Something that could take on Tata’s Punch EV. However, possibility of this happening is quite low, considering the top-down approach Maruti is likely to implement with its electric portfolio.

In contrast, Harley-Davidson has priced X440 from Rs 2.39 lakh (Ex-sh) for base Denim variant and goes till Rs 2.79 lakh (Ex-sh) for S variant. X440 offers quite a lot more even from the base variant, while some of the notable features of Scram 440 are optional extras.

Scram 440 has a larger fuel tank at 15L, which is 1.5L more than X440’s. With a kerb weight of 196 kg, Scram 440 is also heavier, whereas X440 tips the scale at 190.5 kg.

      The lower weight and higher performance metrics give Harley-Davidson X440 the advantage in power-to-weight ratio. Also, the X440 platform is surprisingly agile and responds well to corners and feels very light on its feet, masking its 190.5 kg kerb weight quite beautifully.       Now, Honda has patented SCR125 Xisha scooter in India, which could launch as a smaller scooter below Activa and Dio. Honda Scooter and Motorcycles India (HMSI) has not officially confirmed whether it will launch SCR125 Xisha or not. Also, there is a good probability of this patent just being an IP protection exercise, just like the Honda CG 160.

      Yamaha Sales Breakup Jan 2025 – R15, FZ, MT-15, RayZR, Fascino

      New Yamaha MT15 – Patna BikesTeam Blue started the sales for calendar year 2025 with a total of 55,545 units of motorcycles and scooters sold in India in January 2025. While the company registered a massive 51.02% MoM growth over 36,780 units sold in December 2024, gaining 18,765 units in volume, Yamaha also witnessed a 10.96% YoY decline as opposed to 62,384 units sold in January 2024, losing 6,839 units in volume YoY.

      The company’s best-selling vehicle was a scooter. Particularly, the RayZR 125, which sold 15,209 units last month. When compared to 12,047 units sold last year and 12,002 units sold a month before, RayZR registered a 26.25% YoY and 26.72% MoM growth and accounted for 27.38% of Yamaha’s total sales. Volume growth stood at 3,162 units YoY and 3.207 units MoM.
      In 2nd place, we have FZ range of street motorcycles with 11,399 units sold cumulatively. FZ range of motorcycles accounted for 20.52% of company’s total sales, down from 3.27% in December 2024. When compared to 14,678 units sold a year ago and 8,558 units sold a month before in December 2024, FZ saw 22.34% YoY decline and 33.20% MoM growth.
      Yamaha Sales Breakup Jan 2025 – YoY
      Yamaha recently showcased the FZ-S V4.0 Hybrid at Auto Expo 2025 which also gets an updated instrument cluster with a TFT screen, Bluetooth connectivity and navigation features. Launch is likely to happen soon and we should expect it to make a bigger impact in the 150cc to 160cc street bike segment against Bajaj’s Pulsars and TVS’ Apache.
      R3 and MT-03 sold 2 units combined
      Yamaha’s premium street fighter, MT-15, sold 10,640 units last month and secured 3rd position on this list and contributed 19.16% of Yamaha’s total sales. Sales witnessed a 29.65% YoY decline, losing 4,484 units in volume. However, MT-15 clawed its way back to glory as it doubled its sales MoM at 103.68% MoM growth, gaining 5,416 units in volume.
      The fully faired Supersport version of MT-15, the YZF-R15, sold 8,264 units last month and was Yamaha’s 4th best-selling vehicle. Just like MT-15, R15 saw YoY decline of 14.59% and a massive MoM gain with almost double the volumes at 93.58% growth. R15 accounted for 14.88% of Yamaha’s total sales.

      Yamaha’s most affordable scooter, Fascino, sold 8,261 units last month and registered 1.04% YoY growth and 50.89% MoM growth, gaining 85 units YoY and 2,786 units MoM. The company’s flagship scooter, Aerox 155, sold 1,770 units with a 33.28% YoY decline and 41.83% MoM growth.
      Yamaha’s multi-cylinder lineup, R3 and MT-03 sold a total of 2 units in January 2025. R3 and MT-03 got major price cut on 31st January 2025. Effect of which, will be reflected in the sales chart of February 2025 month.       Called Honda CG 160, this premium 160cc commuter motorcycle is one of Brazil’s best-selling motorcycles. It has 48 years of legacy in Brazil and is currently in its 9th generation model, which has been a popular choice for Brazilians since 2015. In Brazil, Honda offers CG 160 in multiple versions to suit buyer’s needs.

      These versions are called CG 160 Start, CG 160 Fan, CG 160 Titan and CG 160 Cargo. Price for these motorcycles range from BRL 16,440 (Rs 2.49 lakh) and goes till BRL 17,430 (Rs 2.64 lakh). All four of these motorcycles come equipped with the same 162.7cc single cylinder air cooled engine.
      Where design is concerned, the motorcycle patented in India looks almost identical to what is on sale in Brazil. It is a premium commuter in the 160cc class. It gets a sculpted fuel tank with tank shrouds that lend it a muscular appeal. Depending on the model, Honda also offers funky dual-tone colourways and some of them offer painted alloy wheels as well.

      BYD Atto 3 Facelift Debuts – Gets Design Updates, Enhanced Safety

      One of the popular BYD cars in India, the Atto 3 was launched here in November 2022. Updates have been provided regularly, including 3 new variants (Dynamic, Performance and Superior) introduced in 2024. BYD has just revealed the facelift model, which is expected to be launched in many markets soon, including India.
      BYD Atto 3 facelift debuts – What’s new?
      Based on exterior images released by BYD, it appears that the facelifted Atto 3 is aiming for a more refined, polished appearance. While the lighting setup remains unchanged, the air intakes and bumper section have undergone a major refresh. Atto 3 facelift also gets a camera at the front, which is part of the advanced ADAS kit. Side profile has been enhanced with the addition of sportier alloy wheels.

      One can also notice a new exterior colour with the facelift, which looks quite subtle and mature. In India, the current model is offered with colour options of Boulder Grey, Ski White, Parkour Red and Surf Blue. Another noticeable change is the partially blacked-out D-pillars. This treatment balances out the distinctive rippled finish used on the D pillars. Other features such as circular wheel arches, body cladding and conventional body-coloured door handles have been carried forward.
      At the rear, facelifted Atto 3 gets a sportier roof spoiler that has integrated dual brake lights. Tail lamps have been refreshed with Chinese knot pattern elements, reflecting traditional Chinese decorative art. Atto 3 facelift is also expected to get a refreshed cabin with multiple new features. However, interiors are yet to be revealed.

      Advanced ADAS kit
      Facelifted Atto 3 is offering a more advanced ADAS suite, referred to as the God’s Eye C (DiSus 100). This ADAS setup comprises an array of camera, sensors and radars. A three-camera block is installed under the windshield. There are five long-range cameras and four surround view cameras.
      Atto 3 facelift is equipped with five mm-wave radars and twelve ultrasonic radars. The enhanced ADAS suite also benefits from 29 sensors. According to BYD, the upgraded ADAS suite is designed to support ten high-speed navigation scenarios. Moreover, users will also be able to access six intelligent parking modes.

      Same powertrain options
      Atto 3 facelift is expected to continue with the existing powertrain options. Across global markets, BYD Atto 3 is offered with battery pack (LFP) options of 49.9 kWh and 60.5 kWh. In India, Atto 3 is available with only the larger 60.5 kWh battery pack. The single electric motor mounted on the front axle generates 150 kW (204 PS) and 310 Nm of torque.
      As per ARAI standards, range is 521 km with the larger battery pack. NEDC driving range is 480 km. Variants with the smaller battery pack, available internationally, have a CLTC range of 430 km. With a DC charger, BYD Atto 3 (60.5 kWh) can add 0 to 80% in around 50 minutes. With an AC charger, the charging time is higher at 9.5 to 10 hours.
