New Lamborghini Countach Teased, Arriving Soon as a Hybrid

Lamborghini revealed today that it will be bringing back the Countach name, and the teaser video and photo show a wedge-shaped supercar.A photo leaked on Instagram shows the car’s full name to be Countach LPI 800-4, with LPI indicating a hybrid powertrain and the number suggesting it will have nearly 800 horsepower.Lamborghini will take the wraps off the new Countach in the next several days during Monterey Car Week.50 years ago, Lamborghini took the covers off the first prototype of the Countach. Now, five decades after the world first saw the radically styled LP500 prototype at the 1971 Geneva auto show, Lamborghini has announced the return of the legendary Countach nameplate, releasing a teaser video today of the upcoming supercar. Notably, this recycled name goes against Lamborghini convention, as the company typically introduces a new moniker for each new model.
This content is imported from Twitter. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

The video doesn’t reveal much—at just over 20 seconds long, the teaser shows a young kid putting up a poster of the original Countach on his wall and asks, “What do you see? A new image ready to be hung on a wall or the rebirth of a dream?” The final shot shows a white, wedge-shaped vehicle in the distance as the narrator announces the revival of the Countach name.

Lamborghini also provided one teaser image showing the new Countach under a sheet, and although details are indistinguishable, the classic Lamborghini wedge shape is as clear as day. A leaked image posted to Instagram, as spotted by Roadshow, shows the full name to be Countach LPI 800-4, implying that it will be a production vehicle and not a concept. The LPI portion suggests a hybrid powertrain, with Lamborghini using the “Longitudinale Posteriore Ibrido” designation once before on the 2014 Asterion hybrid concept. The 800 indicates 800 PS, or 789 horsepower, and the 4 means it will have all-wheel drive. Curiously, the Sian, which used a supercapacitor hybrid system, did not include the LPI suffix, suggesting that the Countach could have a new hybrid setup. We expect the Countach to be a limited-production vehicle, with it being too soon for a series-production replacement for the Aventador. The Ultimae final edition of that model was just recently unveiled. The new Countach will likely cost at least a million dollars and will be revealed within the next few days during Monterey Car Week.

Kia Soul EV Boardmasters Edition Is a Surfer’s Dream Machine

Kia U.K. saved a pre-production Soul EV prototype from being crushed, converting it into a concept for the Boardmasters 2021 surfing and music festival. The Soul EV gains a 3.0-inch lift, revised suspension, wider track, and chunky 265/75 R16 Maxxis Bighorn tires wrapped around 16-inch white steel wheels. The custom roof rack can carry two Tahe Bic Malibu surfboards, while the rear seat is replaced with a white-stained spruce deck for extra cargo room.Automakers often destroy pre-production prototypes after they’ve reached the end of the development process, but Kia’s U.K. division recently saved a Kia Soul EV prototype that was destined for the crusher. After it avoided an untimely death, this Soul was transformed into this custom, lifted surf-mobile for Boardmasters 2021, a surfing and music festival on the Cornish Coast in England.

    Kia

Based on the Soul EV, which is not sold in the U.S. and is the only Soul available in Europe, the Boardmasters Edition retains the production car’s powertrain, with a 64.0-kWh battery feeding a 201-horsepower electric motor powering the front wheels. While the powertrain is untouched, the Boardmasters Edition sits on new 16-inch white steel wheels shod in 265/75 R16 Maxxis Bighorn tires, which required redesigned wheel arches.

Along with off-road tires, the Boardmasters Edition gains a modified suspension with a 3.0-inch lift, as well as a 4.3-inch wider track at the front and 4.5-inch wider track at the rear. There is also steel roof rack that holds a pair of Tahe Bic Malibu surfboards and raises the Soul’s height to 76.8 inches, ten inches higher than a Kia Sorento. The rack includes a pair of LED spotlights and a solar panel to help recharge the battery pack while you’re out riding the waves. Kia acknowledged that these changes would negatively impact the Soul EV’s 280-mile range (on Europe’s WLTP testing cycle).

    Kia

The special edition keeps the production-spec Neptune Blue paint but adds white stripes and Boardmasters logos. Inside, the Soul EV’s rear bench has been removed to enlarge the cargo capacity, and the trunk floor features white-stained spruce wood. The tailgate also includes a fold-out bench and a swing-out arm for drying wetsuits or towels. The Soul EV Boardmasters Edition will be on display throughout the festival from August 11 to 15.

2022 VW Arteon Is More Powerful and More Expensive

The 2022 Volkswagen Arteon will have a more powerful engine with 300 horsepower. There are now three trim levels available: SE R-Line, SEL R-Line, and SEL Premium R-Line.The base price rises $3000 to $41,190 for the front-wheel-drive SE R-Line.VW likes to call the Arteon its flagship model, and the hatchback is rising into a slightly higher echelon for the 2022 model year thanks to a powertrain upgrade and a higher starting price. The 2022 Arteon now has a 300-horsepower version of VW’s turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, and it starts at $41,190 for the base SE R-Line model.

The new power output of 300 hp and 295 pound-feet of torque represents an increase of 32 hp and 37 pound-feet over the previous model. The updates also include a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to replace the previous eight-speed conventional automatic. We expect this will result in quicker acceleration than the 2021 model we tested, which reached 60 mph in 6.4 seconds. The base SE model comes only with front-wheel drive and now includes the R-Line appearance upgrades, which largely explains the higher base price. The SEL R-Line now comes standard with all-wheel drive and starts at $45,810, an increase of $1220 over last year’s SEL R-Line AWD. VW has not yet released pricing for the 2022 Arteon SEL Premium R-Line, which also has all-wheel drive.Other changes include a different 18-inch wheel design for the SE, new optional 20-inch wheels for the SEL, and new standard equipment for the SE including park assist and a wireless phone charger.

Someone Got Their Ferrari Roma Stuck in an Italian Alleyway

The Ferrari Roma is a truly exceptional grand tourer, a return to form for a company that spent the 1960s building some of the most glorious GT cars ever to see the road. That makes it a perfect fit for the open roads of Italy, from the vineyards of Tuscany to the top of the Alps. But not all roads in Italy are all that open.At some point in this particular Roma’s grand tour, the driver felt he had no choice but to get to the other side of a narrow alleyway in a historic Italian city. The car was just narrow enough that it almost fit, a particularly dangerous proposition that led to this: a car being stuck on both sides well into an alleyway, with no way out but to move centuries-old houses, remove some body panels, or back up all the way back to the entrance.

The video does not actually show any resolution, just a concerned onlooker (possibly the driver) looking at the corners of the very stuck car and accepting that forward is no longer an option. We have to use our skills of inference, but anyone who has ever gotten a car stuck on a narrow wall can attest that the driver will be dealing with serious scratches and dents, creating lasting damage to the Roma’s elegantly swooped rear fenders.Italy’s historic alleyways are famously narrow and its modern performance cars are famously wide, so this was just a matter of time. The owner can at least take some solace in the fact that he has joined a grand comedy tradition of wedging cars in alleyways.

Hero Electric Scooter Sales Cross 15k In H1 2021 – Maintains No 1 Position

File photo.Hero Electric begins Q3 2021 on a strong note having sold 4,500 high speed electric scooters in July 2021
Hero Electric has announced sales of over 15,000 high-speed electric two-wheelers in H1 2021. This keeps the auto manufacturer atop the sales chart for any electric two-wheeler company in India.
Despite disruptions in the auto industry owing to Covid-19 pandemic, Hero Electric has fared well post-COVID second wave recovery. Sales in July 2021 is reported at 4,500 units. The company is on track to expand manufacturing capacity at its existing facility to over 3 lakh EVs per year to meet demand. Plans are afoot to post 100 percent growth over last year.
All over the world, the popularity of electric scooters has been soaring high. The market has been witnessing a sharp growth in demand for electric scooters with its broader demographic appeal and its easy manoeuvrability. And Hero Electric is taking lead in this segment by consistently offering products which are technologically advanced yet durable, and on time!
    Hero Optima and Nyx scooters
With revisions to FAME II policy, subsidies and rebates are now a great attraction. With certain states offering specific subsidies, it’s easy to see why certain regions are posting more sales than others. This means manufacturers too need to capitalise on such offers, and have a robust network in regions that are already offering benefits.
    Hero Electric Scooters
Optima, and Nyx city speed scooters are available at a starting price of Rs 53,600. This attractive entry price point further strengthens the company’s belief that demand for its electric scooters will further increase. Keeping in mind a steady stream of bookings in previous months, Hero Electric expects this trend to continue.
    Price point under Rs 60,000
Rajesh Jadam, a dealer for Hero Electric in Ajmer said, “Post June 11th, the demand for electric vehicles has grown by over 10X. We have been dealers of Hero Electric for close to 8 years and July has been the busiest month for us. We have been getting numerous enquiries to test ride the bikes, not just at our stores, but also online.
With Hero’s bikes now under Rs.60,000, the most affordable in the market, consumers continue to book them immediately after test riding. We are also happy to see that approximately 90% of our stocks are booked and July has been extremely promising. We are all set to go all out to transform the country”
The company was among the first-movers in the electric mobility space in India, and to launch its first set of scooters. With time, Hero electric is also expanding its reach to newer cities. Hero Electric plans to expand its network in a wide range of markets.
    Hero Electric customer conveniences
New age high tech electric scooters in the personal mobility space have a tough upward battle to win. The number of manufacturers in the space continues to increase at breakneck pace. Simultaneously, traditional companies have plenty of established non-electric vehicles available in the market. So, electric automakers need to face tough competition, while also trying to convince people of the cost benefits, and environmental benefits of electric vehicles.
Focusing on enhancing customer experience and adding more value to customers’ life, the company also offers wide ranging facilities. This makes Hero Electric a preferred brand among customers of all age groups. To ensure customer convenience, Hero Electric focuses on affordable pricing. It’s growing base of electric scooter customers have access to a robust charging infrastructure. Hero’s Preferred Garage owners (PGOs) are being reskilled and trained. Over 6000 such PGOs have been trained. The company is committed to training 20,000+ PGOs over the next two years. More

2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 Fully Undisguised – First Look Walkaround

New Gen Royal Enfield Classic 350. Image – MRD Vlogs
As per the latest info, the new-gen Royal Enfield Classic 350 will make its debut on August 31, 2021
Numerous spy shots of the new generation Royal Enfield Classic 350 have been doing the rounds on the internet in recent times which suggest its launch might be around the corner. Test mules of the retro classic motorcycle have been spotted testing on the roads for a very long time which has revealed a few details.
The latest set of spy pics have revealed another interesting feature about the upcoming new-gen Classic 350. The particular testing prototype was spotted tolling on curved, multi-spoke, dual-tone alloy wheels. These units are different from the one spotted in Signals Edition during a TVC shoot in Rajasthan a few weeks ago.
    Design
Getting into the details, the new-gen Classic 350 retains its modern retro-style design of the outgoing models with signature elements such as a round halogen headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank with rubber grips, tiger-eyed position lights, etc. The spring under the rider’s saddle in the current Classic is not present in the new model.
The pillion seat, as usual, is a separate unit and gets an integrated single-piece grab rail. Watch the detailed walkaround video of new gen Classic 350 below, credit to MRD Vlogs.
    [embedded content]
The tail section gets a round taillamp held in a redesigned housing accompanied by round turn indicators in line with the old-school design philosophy. The circular rearview mirrors are embellished in chrome in this model. The seats also get a ribbed pattern. As mentioned earlier, most of the design of Classic 350 has been retained in the new model.
    Specs & Features
The major update will be underneath as it gets an all-new J platform also underpinning Meteor 350. The new dual-cradle frame will be suspended on 35mm telescopic forks at front with a travel of 135mm and twin gas-charged shock absorbers with five-step preload adjustability and 80mm travel at rear. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes on both wheels assisted by a dual-channel ABS as standard.
It will be powered by the same 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that propels Meteor 350. This engine kicks out 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm of peak torque while paired with a new 5-speed gearbox. The motor is also known to produce much less vibration than its predecessor thanks to the use of a counter-balance shaft.
The most impressive addition, though, has been the updated instrument cluster which now comes with a Tripper Navigation pod. Tripper Navigation provides turn-by-turn navigation when paired with the Royal Enfield App on the rider’s smartphone via Bluetooth. The console also features an analogue speedometer while the digital display could read out information from an odometer and fuel gauge. More
