Tork T6X Electric Motorcycle Ready For Launch – CEO Shares New Teaser

Tork Electric Motorcycle. File photo.Tork had the first-mover advantage in electric motorcycle segment, but couldn’t capitalize due to production delays
It was around five years back when Tork Motors had launched their T6X electric motorcycle at a starting price of Rs 1.25 lakh. It had received a decent response with around 1k bookings in a single day. However, production was delayed due to multiple reasons including financial challenges, operational issues and most recently, the Covid-19 pandemic.
There is still time for the company to catch up, as there are only a few players in this space. Some key rivals of Tork T6X include Revolt RV400, Joy e-Monster and upcoming Hop Electric motorcycle.
    T6X ready for delivery
Being among the first electric two-wheeler manufacturers in the country, Tork Motors had to develop everything from scratch. The company had earlier stated that all parts (expect the battery pack) will be sourced locally.
For folks who had liked the idea of T6X, the wait could soon be over. The company’s founder Kapil Shelke is cognizant of the challenges they had to face over the years. Although the project has been delayed, it is still active. He said the time invested has allowed them to develop a best-in-class product for their customers.
    [embedded content]
In its current form, T6X has undergone major transformations. This applies to most aspects of the bike including its design, features, and performance. This had to be done, as EV technology has progressed at a fast pace over the last five years. What was relevant and even ahead of its time in 2016 is unlikely to match present-day rival offerings.
Tork T6X gets an updated chassis along with redesigned LED headlight and tail lamp. It gets updated switch cluster and a larger battery pack. Performance has been improved with increased power and torque. The company has been able to develop a pioneering axial flux motor, which is claimed to be 96% efficient. This will allow the motorcycle to extract max miles from the battery. T6X will be manufactured at the company’s new facility near Pune.
Even at the time of its launch in 2016, T6X had impressive numbers. It could travel at a top speed of 100 kmph and offered range of 100 km on a full charge. It was powered by a 6kW brushless DC motor that produced 27 Nm of peak torque.
Tork Motors CEO and Founder, Kapil Shelke gives update
    T6X details expected soon
Detailed specs about T6X are expected to be revealed soon. It will be interesting to see how it fares against its rivals. As of now, Revolt RV400 is the most popular electric motorcycle in the country. The last batch opened for bookings in July was sold out within 10 minutes.
Revolt RV400 has maximum range of 150 km in Eco mode. Top speed is 85 kmph in Sports mode. In normal mode, top speed is 65 kmph whereas range is 100 km. Tork T6X will have to better these numbers if it wants to challenge its rivals. More

Cadillac EVs to Get New Black-and-White Version of Classic Logo

Cadillac joins several other automakers by redesigning its logo with a minimalist look to signify the transition to becoming an electric-vehicle manufacturer. The new logo retains the wider, wreathless style introduced in 2014 but is now black and white, and will be illuminated in some cases, such as on the front end of the upcoming Lyriq SUV.The monochromatic version of the badge will appear on all new electric Cadillacs, while the color crest will continue on the gas-powered models until they are replaced by EVs.

    Cadillac

As automakers transition their lineups to become electric only, several brands have sought to reinvent themselves by redesigning their iconic logos. Within the past two years, Volkswagen, BMW, Nissan, and General Motors have also given their emblems a similar refresh, keeping the same basic shapes but opting for a more simplified, minimalist style. Now Cadillac is joining the party, with Fox News Autos reporting that Cadillac will transition to a new monochromatic version of its logo for its upcoming arsenal of electric vehicles.

    Cadillac

The new black-and-white version of the logo was first seen when Cadillac debuted the Lyriq SUV as a concept in late 2020, where it was illuminated in the grille. Now the monochromatic version of the Cadillac badge—which continues with the wider, wreathless look introduced in 2014—has appeared on Cadillac’s website and social-media platforms, signaling the brand’s shift towards EVs. A Cadillac spokesperson told Car and Driver that “as Cadillac begins its next chapter to an all-electric future” with the Lyriq, Cadillac is “refreshing our brand look and feel” with “a bold and modern interpretation of the Cadillac crest.” The spokesperson also said that while the monochromatic crest will become more common, “Cadillac will continue to use the current crest as well.”

While the Cadillac representative did not specify to Car and Driver when the current, color crest would be used, Fox News Autos reports that a Cadillac spokesperson said that the color version of the logo would continue to appear on internal-combustion-engine models and will be phased out as those models are replaced with EVs. With the reveal of the Lyriq, Cadillac had announced it would not be releasing any more new gas-powered models, at least in North America, implying that the color crest will continue on the CT4, CT5, XT4, XT5, XT6, and Escalade until their electric successors arrive. Cadillac’s first EV, the Lyriq, is set to go on sale in the first half of 2022 for $59,990.

Upcoming Yezdi Adventure Motorcycle To Rival RE Himalayan – Render

Upcoming Yezdi Adventure Motorcycle – RenderAfter successfully resurrecting Jawa, Mahindra-owned Classic Legends is working on reviving other brands like Yezdi and BSA
Even though Royal Enfield continues to dominate, there’s been a consistent threat from new rivals in recent years. The list includes the likes of Jawa, Benelli Imperiale 400 and the most recent Honda H’ness CB350.
Another rival is expected to emerge soon in the form of new Yezdi motorcycles. There will be a scrambler version, likely to be called Roadking as well as an adventure motorcycle rivalling Himalayan. Both motorcycles are expected to use the same platform and engine.
    Upcoming Yezdi Adventure Motorcycle
In terms of equipment and features, Yezdi adventure motorcycle looks familiar to Royal Enfield Himalayan. Even though the bike has a modern design, some retro flavour is evident in features like circular headlamp. Other key features include tall visor, fork gaiters, raised front fender, and larger front wheel.
Rear tyre is shorter and wider, which is similar to that of Royal Enfield Himalayan. Both wheels are spoke units. On Himalayan, the front wheel is 21-inch whereas the rear measures 17-inch. Digital rendering artist, Pratyush Rout has created a few renders of the upcoming Yezdi adventure motorcycle, based on the recent spy shots.
    Upcoming Yezdi Adventure Motorcycle
In other matching details, Yezdi adventure motorcycle gets racks at both front and rear. These can support a wide variety of luggage including panniers. Other key features include sporty rear view mirrors, sculpted fuel tank, tank shrouds, upswept exhaust, split seats, short tail section and circular tail lamp and turn indicators.
It is evident that Yezdi adventure motorcycle offers a comfortable, upright riding stance. Foot pegs are almost perpendicular to the rider seat. Handlebar is ergonomically placed, ensuring the least effort for the rider. These features will come handy when riding on highways or long off-road tracks.
    Yezdi adventure motorcycle engine
It is possible that Yezdi ADV motorcycle could borrow the 293 cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine from Jawa. This unit is capable of generating 27.33 ps of max power and 27.02 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission. To be a better match for Himalayan, Yezdi ADV could get the 334cc unit from Jawa Perak. This unit churns out 30.64 ps / 32.74 Nm and is mated to a 6-speed transmission.
    Upcoming Yezdi Adventure Motorcycle
In comparison, Royal Enfield Himalayan gets its power from a 411cc, air cooled, single cylinder, SOHC motor. It generates 24.3 bhp at 6500 rpm and 32 Nm @ 4000-4500 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. Yezdi ADV motorcycle has standard telescopic forks at front and monoshock rear suspension. Both wheels have disc brakes and are likely to be offered with dual-channel ABS.
It is being speculated that Yezdi motorcycles will be the most affordable range from Classic Legends. This could provide a definitive advantage to these motorcycles. For reference, Jawa range starts at Rs 1.78 lakh for single-channel ABS and Rs 1.87 lakh for dual-channel ABS. Perak is available at a starting price of Rs 2.06 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. Himalayan on the other hand, is priced from Rs 2.1 lakh, ex-sh. More

2022 Honda Civic Type R Revealed in Prototype Form

Honda has shared the first official photos of the next-generation Civic Type R.The new model will arrive in 2022 and is based on the eleventh-generation Civic hatchback. It has similar add-ons as the current model but looks more attractive to our eye due to the new Civic’s less tortured lines. We have our first official glimpse of the new Civic Type R courtesy of these photos Honda shared of a prototype model covered in a bit of camouflage. It’s a pretty revealing look at the latest hot hatchback, which looks far better than its predecessor but maintains its aggressive stance with a body kit, a big wing on the back, and a serious wheel and tire package.Again based on the Civic’s four-door hatchback body style, we can see that the new Type R is wearing Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer tires wrapped around some nice-looking ten-spoke black wheels. Red Brembo brake calipers are visible, too. A big rear wing and three exhaust tips dominate the rear view.

    Honda

Honda isn’t sharing many technical details at this point, but we expect the new model to use the same turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four as the outgoing car, likely tuned to produce a bit more than the current 306 hp and 295 pound-feet. Honda has already confirmed that a six-speed manual transmission will be offered, although an optional dual-clutch automatic transmission may join the lineup.More details should be coming soon, as Honda says that the Type R will be revealed in full sometime next year. It’ll go on sale in the U.S. later in 2022, likely with a starting price just under $40,000.

TVS Jupiter 125cc Scooter LED DRLs Teaser – Activa Rival Launch Soon

New TVS Jupiter 125cc Launch SoonAll-new Jupiter 125 will take on rivals such as Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access, Hero Destini 125 and Yamaha Fascino 125
After Raider 125cc motorcycle, TVS is gearing up to launch its next product. It is likely to be all-new Jupiter 125, a more powerful and better equipped version of existing Jupiter 110cc scooter. Launch date is set for 7th Oct 2021.
With new Jupiter, TVS will have two products in 125cc scooter segment. While Ntorq is preferred for its superior styling and sporty performance, Jupiter 125 will be more suited for practical, everyday needs.
TVS Jupiter 125 styling and features
To ensure a distinct identity, Jupiter 125 will utilize a new set of styling bits. Components like headlamp, LED DRLs, rear view mirrors, side panels, grab rails, and tail light are expected to be entirely new. Only a limited set of design elements are expected to be borrowed from Jupiter 110.
New colour options are expected to be made available for all-new Jupiter 125. The existing 110cc Jupiter is available in more than a dozen colour options. Ones that really stand out include Titanium Grey, Matte Blue, Volcano Red, Midnight Black, Pristine White, Royal Wine and Indi Blue. Available colour options are based on the chosen variant. Take a look at the new teaser video of the 2021 TVS Jupiter 125cc scooter.
    [embedded content]
To match features available with rival scooters in this segment, TVS could introduce things like digital instrument console, USB charger and Bluetooth connectivity for new Jupiter 125. Existing Jupiter 110 is equipped with an analogue instrument console. As it will primarily be positioned as a utilitarian scooter, Jupiter 125 will have ample under seat storage. For reference, Jupiter 110 offers 21-litres of under seat storage. This is good enough for a full-sized helmet.
It is possible that TVS Smart Xonnect connectivity platform could be introduced with Jupiter 125. This feature is already offered with Ntorq. A number of advanced features can be accessed via Smart Xonnect such as navigation assist, caller ID, last parked location assist, ride stats, and remote backlit illumination control. Overall, around 60 connectivity features are available through this platform. Smart Xonnect could be introduced with top-spec variants of all-new Jupiter 125.
TVS Jupiter 125 engine and specs
It is likely that Jupiter 125 will borrow its engine from Ntorq. For Ntorq, the engine is tuned differently based on the variant. For standard variants, the engine is tuned to deliver 9.38 ps of max power and 10.5 Nm of peak torque. For Race XP variant, the numbers increase to 10.2 ps / 10.8 Nm. Race XP variant is the first 125cc scooter in the country to deliver more than 10 hp power.
    TVS Jupiter 125cc LED DRLs
As Jupiter 125 will likely target improved fuel economy, its power and torque output could be less than Ntorq. For this, Jupiter 125 will use an ET fuel injector and not the Race Tuned Fuel injector (RT FI). Suspension system will comprise telescopic fork at front and monoshock unit at rear. The scooter can get the option of front disc brakes. Jupiter 125 pricing is expected to be close to that of Ntorq. The latter is offered in the price band of Rs 72k to Rs 84k (ex-showroom, Delhi). Rivian's Forever Fund Will Turn Nature into an EV Shareholder

Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe announced a new fund called Forever that will put money from the young electric-vehicle company into “high-impact climate initiatives” to protect wilderness.Scaringe said Rivian will invest 1 percent of its equity (not profits) in this fund to move away from the “massive industrial complex” that our current lifestyles rely on.Rivian could end up being valued at $50 billion or even $80 billion in its upcoming IPO, according to various analysts. That would mean a lot of money being spent on Forever.Rivian has been embracing a curious word in its marketing for the past year or two: forever. What started as the “Adventurous Forever” tagline in a series of videos in 2020 about the all-electric R1T pickup and R1S SUV became a new philanthropic mission this week with the announcement of, well, “Forever.”Founder and CEO RJ Scaringe published a note on the Rivian website yesterday about his company’s new Forever mission. The headline detail is that Scaringe promised that he will put 1 percent of Rivian’s equity into Forever, a philanthropic-focused fund that he said would address “our planet’s climate crisis and preserving the critical biodiversity needed for our planet’s long-term survival.”
This content is imported from Twitter. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

Scaringe correctly notes that automakers (and the rest of us) cannot continue to build and consume products as we have been for the past century. The “massive industrial complex” that humans have created, he writes, is “rapidly changing the composition of our atmosphere while simultaneously destroying the interlinked natural ecosystems critical for life on the planet. Our current way of life has been enabled by hundreds of millions of years of accumulated plant- and animal-based carbon in the form of fossil fuels. On our current path, we will fully exhaust this stored energy in only a few more generations and, in the process, carbonize our atmosphere, and damage natural ecosystems to such a degree that life as we know it will not be possible.”

One important detail in Scaringe’s announcement is that Rivian isn’t going to invest some portion of its profits into environmental causes. That would be the very definition of greenwashing, since Rivian is gearing up for an IPO and in some of the paperwork it filed to go public said that it lost $2 billion since the beginning of 2021 and over a billion in 2020. In fact, Rivian will spend around $8 billion building up its facilities and other manufacturing infrastructure through the end of 2023, the New York Times reported. In the Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Rivian specifically said possible investors should not be looking for profits anytime soon: “We do not expect to be profitable for the foreseeable future as we invest in our business, build capacity, and ramp up operations, and we cannot assure you that we will ever achieve or be able to maintain profitability in the future.”

But equity? Equity is another story. It’s difficult to know exactly what Rivian’s valuation or equity will be, but over the summer sources told Reuters that Rivian could be looking for a valuation somewhere in the $50-to-$80-billion range in its IPO. Institutional investors including Amazon and Ford have already plowed billions into Rivian, but the stock market has not yet had its say. To cite one obvious comparison, Tesla took years to make a profit, but the company was valued at around $700 billion earlier this year, way more than other automakers. Shareholder equity, which can be calculated by figuring out a company’s total assets and then subtracting its total liabilities, isn’t the same as valuation, but the two are connected. However much money Rivian ends up putting into Forever, the fund’s focus will be on what Scaringe called “high-impact climate initiatives” that emphasize “preserving and restoring wildlands, waterways and oceans.” These areas shouldn’t just be protected so they can offer exciting backdrops for drone shots of an R1T off-roading, but because these are exactly the parts of our planet that act as “powerful carbon sinks that pull carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, storing carbon in soil, grasses, trees, shrubs, coral reefs and ocean floor sediments,” Scaringe wrote, and the more valuable Rivian becomes, the more money will be spent on protecting these area. “By putting 1% of Rivian’s equity into Forever, the natural world will become a shareholder in our success,” he wrote. “As our company’s value grows by transitioning our customers to sustainable transportation solutions, so will the value of our impact and philanthropic giving, creating a virtuous cycle of impact.”
