2025 Suzuki Access Road Test Review – The One To Get?

2025 Suzuki Access Road Test ReviewIndia’s 125cc scooter segment is a rather interesting one. It sits above the 110cc scooters, offering a little more performance and bringing more premium features. Suzuki is among the leaders in this segment as the company operates three offerings – Access, Burgman Street 125 and Avenis 125.
Access is by far the most popular in Suzuki’s scooter lineup and is the primary volume generator for the brand. So, when the company launches a major update to Access, it is a big deal and it has even emerged as India’s 3rd highest-selling scooter. After experiencing the new 2025 Suzuki Access in and around Pune city, this is what we think about this scooter.
    2025 Suzuki Access
    2025 Suzuki Access Review
Within the family 125cc scooters, Suzuki Access is a prominent name. It was among the first 125cc scooters in India, launched in 2007. Close to two decades in its life cycle, Access has had multiple updates and the latest 2025 Suzuki Access is the most technologically advanced iteration of this scooter yet. Dropping 125 from its name, Suzuki has simplified the naming too.
Suzuki launched it at the Auto Expo 2025 earlier this month at a starting price of Rs 81,700 (Ex-sh). There are three variants on offer – Standard Edition, Special Edition and Ride Connect Edition. Standard Edition gets drum brakes, steel wheels and single-tone colours. Special Edition brings dual tone colours, steel wheels and a front disc brake.
    2025 Suzuki Access
It is the Ride Connect Edition which offers all bells and whistles like alloy wheels, disc brakes and even a connected instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity and Navigation. This is the variant we sampled in Pune city which was finished in a lovely Metallic Mat Stellar Blue. Even though the launch colour was Solid Ice Green, I liked Pearl Grace White and Metallic Mat Stellar Blue colours more.
    Design & Appearance
Where design is concerned, the new 2025 Suzuki Access does not deviate much away from its family scooter silhouette. It looks very much like an Access, just brought up to date with modern styling cues and in-keeping with current trends. In that regard, we can see Access has gotten much sleeker and looks more athletic than it did before.
    2025 Suzuki Access
We can see headlights have sleekened a lot and look sharper now. Front apron gets re-profiled styling with smaller turn indicators. There’s a U-shaped LED DRL on front apron which is a new addition. Behind this apron, we now get dual glove compartments along with USB charging port, a hook and a conventional keyhole which also operates fuel filler and underseat storage.
    2025 Suzuki Access
The fuel filler cap is now concealed beneath a plastic flap for a much cleaner aesthetic. There is a new re-designed tail light as well. Side profile is vastly carried over. We get circular reflectors now positioned near glove boxes behind front apron. The top two variants get chrome circular ORVMs that look rather nice, offering a retro vibe to this scooter.
    2025 Suzuki Access
Also new are the footpegs, which are of metallic type now that look a lot more premium than before. Top variants get brown seat upholstery which contrasts on the dark blue shade on our particular unit. Even though it doesn’t look like it, 2025 Access packs a new chassis underneath and it has had changes to its powertrain as well.
    Specs & Powertrain
Speaking of powertrain, Suzuki has updated some core components like crankshaft, camshaft and even the crankcase on this scooter with 2025 model. These changes were done to upgrade this engine and align it with stricter BS6 OBD2B emission norms along with Euro 5 emission norms. Because of these changes, there is variance in performance metrics.
    2025 Suzuki Access
This 124cc engine now makes 8.31 bhp of peak power at 6,500 RPM and 10.2 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 RPM. So, power has gone down slightly, while torque has seen a minor boost, when compared to its predecessor. This is still a relatively simple engine as it is an air-cooled single-cylinder SOHC 2V/cyl unit, mated to a CVT and a one-way clutch which ensures quiter starts than before.
    2025 Suzuki Access
This is a smooth and refined powertrain without much vibrations if you’re riding under 90 km/h speed (speedo indicated). Post which, there is a mild buzz. Considering the intended application of this scooter, it is perfectly acceptable as prospective owners are not likely to push it that hard all that often. The 5.3L fuel tank will ensure less frequent fuel stops as Suzuki Access can eke out around 50 km/l of fuel efficiency, depending on the riding style.
    2025 Suzuki Access
    Ride & Ergonomics
Acceleration is brisk and it has enough grunt to manage quick overtakes in the city. The new chassis feels almost similar to its predecessor, offering decent maneuverability. Suzuki is offering 90-section tyres at both ends. Wheel size is 12-inch at the front and 10-inch at the rear. We wished Suzuki offered 12-inches at both ends for better stability and bump absorption.
    2025 Suzuki Access
Speaking of, ride quality is slightly on the stiffer side and bump absorption is slightly uneven as the wheel sizes differ. However, it is a city scooter to be used as a daily commuter and it does that job quite well and without any hassle. Seat is long and accommodating. Ground clearance is 160 mm, which didn’t pose any issues even on tallest of speed bumps.
    2025 Suzuki Access
Braking is quite predictable and is acceptable for a 125cc family scooter. Front disc has decent bite and stopping power. Suzuki offers a parking brake with Access, which is a handy and welcome feature. Some rivals omit the parking brake feature, but I used it more than I thought I would have.
    2025 Suzuki Access Switchgear
Top variants of this scooter weigh 105 kg making it easy to maneuver in low speeds while parking or in city traffic. Rider ergonomics is spot on and it didn’t induce any discomfort in a 182 cm tall individual like myself. Switchgear is aptly positioned too – left gets turn indicators, horn and high beam pass, while right gets an engine kill switch and hazard light.
    2025 Suzuki Access Boot
    Usability
Front dual glove compartments can easily accept 500ml water bottles and with 2025 Access 125, Suzuki has carved out more under-seat storage than before. 24.4L in volume, to be precise. It will not accommodate a beefy XL sized full-face helmet, but it will easily accommodate a half-face helmet or a smaller and less beefy full-face helmet.
    2025 Suzuki Access Storage
The instrument cluster is fully digital and shows quite a lot of information. There are two buttons beside this cluster to control it and functions are quite intuitive. We can see time, speed, odometer and trip meter, fuel gauge and temperature gauge and are surrounded by tell-tale lights. This cluster supports smartphone connectivity via the proprietary Suzuki Ride Connect app.
    2025 Suzuki Access Instrument Cluster
This app is intuitive as well and allows you to connect seamlessly with this system. Once connected, it will show call alerts, SMS alerts and even has turn-by-turn navigation which works well. Also, it has Whatsapp call and message alerts, calendar alerts and weather updates along with an auto-reply SMS feature. These features work quite well, fitting well with tech-savvy customers.
    Conclusions & Reservations
Concluding the 2025 Suzuki Access is rather easy. It is a no-nonsense scooter that offers utmost reliability and aims to offer great value for the buck. However, we have a few reservations about this scooter as well. Some of them are major, while not classifying as deal breakers.
    2025 Suzuki Access Instrument Cluster
    1. We wished the scooter had a smart key implementation for keyless operations. Also, the physical ket that Suzuki offers is unusually long and digs into your thighs when placed in pant pockets.
    2. We wished this scooter offered better Bluetooth range and a more stable connection. That’s because the connection would drop when I placed my phone in my pant pockets even though it is just 3 feet away from this cluster.
    3. For Bluetooth to work, I had to place my phone in the front glove compartment, which is not lockable. So, I was always on the lookout that someone might nick my phone in traffic.
    4. The USB Type-A charger on Access is quite slow as my Samsung flagship phone only managed to gather around 5% of charge despite plugging it in for more than an hour.
    5. The under-seat storage could have been longer and offered more volume to keep two half-face helmets side-by-side, something that rival scooters can.
    2025 Suzuki Access Instrument Cluster
    The one to get?
None of these reservations are deal breakers, which is a good thing. Also, most of these can be fixed in the future by Suzuki if there is enough demand for it. Even the LED headlights are quite decent, offering nice throw and spread of light. Particularly acceptable for city applications. Special mention to Suzuki Ride Connect system that allows for easy pairing and doesn’t require your number to be registered in the company’s database before using it.
2025 Suzuki Access is a strong contender in the 125cc family scooter space and it has great potential to be an all-rounder scooter. In terms of sales, Suzuki Access is currently India’s 3rd best-selling scooters, behind Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter. It has to be noted that both those scooters have 110cc offerings in the mix as well. If you’re in the market for a 125cc family scooter, 2025 Suzuki Access should be high up in your list. More

Honda CB300R Recalled – Defective Part Free Replacement

Honda CB300RReplacement will be done entirely free of cost, even if the vehicle’s warranty is no longer applicable
In line with its continuous focus on enhancing ownership experience and boosting trust and confidence, Honda has announced a voluntary recall for CB300R. Only select units manufactured during a specific period are covered under the voluntary recall campaign. Let’s check out the details.
    Issue with headlight PCB structure
Honda has identified a potential issue in the internal PCB structure that links to the motorcycle’s headlight. During normal use over a long time, vibrations and other movements can potentially cause fatigue breaks in the core wires at the root of terminals. Depending on the level of breakage, the headlights can start to flicker or completely shut off.
It is likely that this issue may have been identified during routine checks. The problem could have been faced and reported by multiple users. Damage to the core wires would be gradual and not immediately evident. It may start with a flickering issue in some cases, whereas an instant complete shut off of the headlight is also possible.
While this issue may not be a problem during daytime, it can create safety risks when riding during the night. Honda CB300R is primarily for city roads, but longer journeys may be possible based on rider preferences and demands of the situation. A malfunctioning headlight can be a major issue when driving across highways at night.
    Honda CB300R
As of now, no accidents have been reported that could be related to this issue. With the recall now announced, users can get the issue fixed completely free of cost. The recall covers even vehicles whose warranty period has already expired.
    Which CB300R units are impacted?
As per the recall announcement, specific CB300R units manufactured between 2018 and 2020 have been identified to have the headlight PCB issue. Honda is carrying out the replacement of the faulty part as a precautionary manner. The replacement will be done at Honda BigWing dealerships.
Honda BigWing dealers will contact the owners of affected bikes via call / email / SMS. Technicians will carry out an inspection and apply the required fix and replacement. To know if their CB300R motorcycle is covered under the recall, customers can also check on Honda BigWing website by entering their vehicle’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). For a hassle-free experience, it is recommended that customers book their service appointment in advance.
    Honda CB300R
While a recall has been issued, it is not known how much time will it take to replace the faulty PCB component. Owners can probably approach their dealership to get more details. Since the identified issue affects only the bike’s headlight, users can continue to use their CB300R in daytime hours. Night rides could be avoided till the faulty part is replaced.
A neo-retro roadster bike, Honda CB300R is preferred for its sharp, dynamic styling and sporty performance. Powering the bike is a 286.01 cc, liquid cooled engine that generates 31 PS and 27.5 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Honda CB300R is available at a starting price of Rs 2.40 lakh. 2025 Hero Passion+ LaunchedTill stocks last, the outgoing model will be available for sale alongside the new OBD-2B-compliant Hero Passion+
Indian automotive space is witnessing a transformative era, with a strong focus on reducing emissions and improving safety. On the emissions front, vehicles have to comply with the stricter OBD-2B emission norms. To meet the compliance deadline of 1st April 2025, many two-wheeler models have already been updated.
Latest addition to the list of OBD-2B-compliant two-wheelers is Hero Passion+, coming from world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp. Let’s check out the updates introduced with the new model.
    2025 Hero Passion+ Update – What’s new?
In addition to the OBD-2B compliance, colour options have been updated for 2025 Hero Passion+. While the earlier model is available with four colour options, the OBD-2B Passion+ gets only two colour options (Black Nexus Blue and Black Heavy Grey). It is possible that these colour variants are in demand. The MY24 model has two additional colours – Black Grey Stripe and Sport Red.
All four colour options have a dual-tone livery, applied across the headlamp cowl, fuel tank and side panels. This is one of the distinctive features seen among Hero’s entry-level commuter bikes. Earlier, Hero also used to offer Passion Pro and Passion Pro XTEC models. However, these two have been discontinued.
    2025 Hero Passion+ Launched
As of now, the OBD-2B Passion+ does not get any exclusive colour options. However, it is possible that new colour options could be introduced for the bike at a later date. Since it is the only bike in the Passion range, it can do better by providing more choices to customers. One can consider the example of Hero Splendor+ that offers a total of 7 colour choices. Similarly, HF Deluxe is available with 5 colour options.
    Price increase
2025 Passion+ OBD-2B model is available at a starting price of Rs 81,651. That’s Rs 1,750 more than the 2024 Passion Plus (Rs 79,901). In comparison, the top selling Hero Splendor+ is available at a starting price of Rs 77,176. The i3S variant is priced at Rs 78,426. To access more features and striking colour options, users can choose the Splendor+ XTEC variant. It is offered at a starting price of Rs 84,301.
In the 100cc segment, Hero also sells the HF Deluxe and HF 100. These are priced at Rs 59,998 and Rs 59,018, respectively. Talking about Passion+, the bike has a more stylized and sporty appearance in comparison to the likes of Splendor+ and HF Deluxe. Passion+ has flowing and curvy body panels, as compared to the minimalistic design seen with Splendor Plus. Body graphics appear more engaging on the Passion Plus, which may appeal to younger riders.
Powertrain and hardware specifications remain the same for OBD-2B Passion+. In terms of sales, Hero Passion+ is currently the 4th bestselling Hero two-wheeler. In February 2025, sales were at 15,598 units. The bike contributed 4.37% to Hero’s overall sales in the month. Hero Passion+ competes with the likes of Honda Shine 100 and Bajaj Platina 100. More

BYD’s Make In India Plans Dashed – Government Says ‘No’

BYD Sealion 7Indian government has raised concerns about China’s non-market economy and potential links of Chinese companies to the PLA
Last month in March, it was reported that BYD will start local manufacturing in India in Hyderabad. The plan was to set up a new manufacturing facility that will have annual production capacity of 6 lakh units by 2032. However, a recent statement by Piyush Goel, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, reveals that BYD’s expansion plan in India is essentially scrapped for now.
    BYD India Manufacturing Plant
Border issues and China’s ambitions in the Indian Ocean and India’s neighbouring countries have prompted government officials to take a cautious approach. While both countries are working to strengthen relations, it may take a long time to settle all the issues and build confidence. These sentiments were echoed by Goyal during his recent interview with Bloomberg Television.
Replying to a query about BYD, Piyush Goyal said that India has to look into its strategic interests. It implies that there will be strict scrutiny in terms of who could be allowed to invest. Goyal clearly said “no” in terms of BYD’s plans to expand its presence in India.
This follows the earlier decision in July 2023 when BYD’s $1 billion (Rs 8,200 crore) investment proposal was rejected by the Indian government. The investment plan comprised building a new production plant in collaboration with Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering & Infrastructures.
    BYD eMAX 7
Road ahead for BYD in India
Till things improve, BYD is likely to continue using the CBU route to sell its all-electric cars in India. Starting with the Atto 3, BYD has introduced new models at regular intervals. BYD’s India portfolio includes the Seal sedan, Sealion 7 SUV and BYD eMAX 7 MPV. Even with the CBU route, BYD has posted an impressive annual growth of 90.32%. Sales have zoomed to 3,401 units in FY25, as compared to 1,787 units in FY24.
In March, the carmaker registered a YoY growth of 175%. Sales have increased from 144 units in March 2024 to 396 units in March 2025. This has been made possible with the introduction of newer models and expansion of the dealer network. Going forward, BYD will be aiming to further add new dealerships and target Tier-II cities as well.
    Hurdles for Chinese carmakers
Due to geopolitical issues between the two countries, Chinese carmakers have faced resistance in terms of investment and local expansion. Earlier, Great Wall Motor’s (GMW) plan to enter India was halted due to regulatory policies that called for strict scrutiny of Chinese investments.
    BYD Seal EV
GMW had planned an investment of $1 billion and was looking to acquire General Motors’ Talegaon plant in Maharashtra. However, due to border conflicts and policy changes, GMW exited from India in 2022. As for the General Motors’ plant, it was acquired by Hyundai. China being a non-market economy, policy makers in India have raised concerns about the Chinese government’s influence over China-based businesses.
Lack of transparency in business ownership in China is another concern. Factors like government-sponsored subsidies and loan write-offs for China-based businesses can create unfair competition in overseas markets such as India. These apprehensions have prompted policy makers in India to limit Chinese investment.

TVS Apache Electric Bike Patent Images Leak

TVS Apache Electric Bike Design Patented – Render for reference onlyExpected to be positioned as a premium offering, TVS electric bike is likely to be fully faired and get fixed battery packs
With the iQube electric scooter, TVS has already established a strong presence in the electric scooter segment with a market share of around 25%. Going forward, TVS seems to be aiming to target the nascent electric motorcycle segment. There aren’t many rivals here and a performance-oriented electric motorcycle can get the attention of enthusiasts. Let’s analyse what the patent images reveal about TVS new electric motorcycle.
    Compact profile, dual-battery packs
For its new electric motorcycle, TVS will be leveraging its experience and expertise in developing and manufacturing performance-oriented machines. The experience gained with bikes like Apache RTR range and RR310, along with BMW’s 310cc range, will be quite useful. Also, TVS has already tested the Apache RTE electric motorcycle in a track environment.
TVS Apache Electric Bike Design Patented
It had recorded a top speed of 200 km/h at the TVS Racing Electric One Make Championship (e-OMC) held last year. New TVS electric bike patent images reveal that the bike will be using a mid-mounted air-cooled motor. While the motor casing seems familiar to that of TVS King electric rickshaw, the architecture is likely to be entirely different.
Also, the platform being used for the electric bike looks entirely new. Patent images reveal a powerful motor and a belt drive setup for sending power to the rear wheel. One can spot some distinctive features such as use of multiple gears to connect the motor with the front sprocket. This design will ensure increased torque or power, depending on the diameter of these gears.
TVS Apache Electric Bike Design Patented
Another unique feature is the dual battery packs, mounted one on each side of the central spine frame. This ensures an even distribution of the battery weight on both sides. Also achieves a desirable lower centre of gravity, as compared to electric motorcycles with fuel tank-mounted battery pack.
However, the battery packs appear to be fixed units, bolted onto the frame. That will limit the bike’s market potential, as some customers prefer electric two-wheelers with removable / swappable battery packs. As of now, only a few models such as Hero Vida, Honda Activa Electric and Revolt motorcycles offer removable battery packs.
TVS Apache Electric Bike Design Patented
    Single-sided swingarm
As evident in the patent images, the electric bike is equipped with a single-sided swingarm and a preload-adjustable offset monoshock suspension. This supports the possibility that TVS upcoming electric motorcycle will be positioned as a premium, race-capable model. It could get USD forks at the front. Positioning of the dual battery packs indicates that the bike may be fully faired.
The bike does not have to include an air box in the sub-frame. This arrangement frees up space, which can be used for installing other electrical and electronic components. In terms of performance, TVS new electric motorcycle could be comparable to the Apache RTE. With the dual battery packs, one can easily expect a range of over 120 km. As the patent has just been filed, it may take a couple of years for TVS new electric bike to reach production stage.
