Lucid’s Answer to Tesla’s Autopilot Is Called DreamDrive

Lucid reveals details of DreamDrive advanced driver-assist system, designed to offer semi-autonomous features and upgrades via OTA updates. The automaker’s system will include driver attention monitoring to make sure drivers keep their eyes on the road and hands on the steering wheel, pointing to Level 2 capability.Lucid says it is working on Level 3 features as well, which will be functional in some driving conditions. This week Lucid Motors, just days after starting production of its 520-mile Air sedan, has revealed the first details of its DreamDrive advanced driver-assist system, which is expected to compete with Tesla’s Autopilot and Full Self-Driving systems, among others. The system boasts 32 sensor inputs, including ultrasonic and radar sensors, 18 cameras, solid-state Lidar, and sensors to monitor driver attention.

DreamDrive will offer a group of features dubbed Highway Pilot, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane centering, as well as Traffic Jam Assist, which will function at speeds between zero and 40 mph, working to center the electric sedan in the lane in tight traffic and respond to the movement of other vehicles around it. “An infrared driver camera tracks head position, eye gaze, and blinking, while hands-off detection prompts the driver to return their hands to the steering wheel immediately,” the automaker notes.DreamDrive will also offer an Auto Park feature, which will allow the sedan to identify parallel and perpendicular spots and will enter them automatically, managing steering and drive inputs.

    Lucid Motors

The hardware behind the system is something Lucid calls an Ethernet Ring, which is a high-speed data network that uses four computer gateways, each positioned in one of the four corners of the sedan, to relay data at gigabit speeds, allowing for system redundancy and quick data transmission.”DreamDrive Pro has been designed to grow in capability, thanks to our ability to deliver software over-the-air and key equipment already in place in the vehicle,” said Eugene Lee, senior director of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving at Lucid Motors. “Thanks to highly integrated hardware and software teams, Lucid has the ability to develop new functionality for DreamDrive Pro in-house. This can benefit every facet of the DreamDrive Pro experience, from the frequency of updates to the planned rollout of the Highway Pilot system for conditional automated driving on select roadways in the coming years.”At this point it’s prudent to note just what DreamDrive does not promise. For starters, it does not promise that drivers will be able to take their attention off the road. It also does not promise that drivers will be able to keep their hands off the steering wheel, because driver monitoring sensors will make sure that they do so at all times. So there are certainly a few caveats here that point to a system with no eyes-off, brain-off capabilities of Level 3 and Level 4 systems, some of which are already available in other vehicles. For now, it appears that it will be a purely Level 2 system, like Tesla’s Autopilot and FSD.The company does mention that Level 3 capabilities are in the works, at least for limited circumstances.”The Lucid DreamDrive technology suite supports 19 key safety, driving, and parking assist features that will be available on Lucid Air immediately upon start of production, with another eight features expected to be available later via over-the-air (OTA) updates. Additional DreamDrive capabilities to enable Level 3 driving in certain conditions are also in development,” Lucid said in 2020.The company also adds that Highway Pilot with conditional hands-free capability is something that will be offered in the future. While the major hardware advantage with Lucid’s system could be the inclusion of solid-state lidar, something that Tesla has shunned over the years in favor of transitioning to a camera-only system, DreamDrive appears to be taking a very careful approach to Level 2 autonomy to the point of not offering hands-free driving at the moment, unlike GM’s upcoming Ultra Cruise system. So while it will certainly feature a far fuller sensor suite than that offered by other advanced driver-assist systems on the market, it won’t be pushing the envelope for the time being.

2022 Royal Enfield Hunter 350cc Scrambler New Colours – Render

    Royal Enfield Hunter 350cc Render
Royal Enfield has an interesting lineup of launches – This includes 650cc Cruiser, 350cc Scrambler and many more
Royal Enfield has plans to launch 4 new or updated bikes every year for the next 7 years. In the past 12 months, they have already launched the new Meteor 350, updated Himalayan, updated 650 Twins and the new Classic 350. The next motorcycle in line for launch could be the Hunter 350cc scrambler.
This new offering will allow the company to further fortify its position in the Indian bike market, and more particularly in the 350 cc segment where it already commands more than 90% percent market share. Likely to be christened as Hunter upon launch sometime next year, the bike is currently doing the test rounds.
It is is based on the new modular J platform, which it will share with the Meteor 350 and the new Classic 350. Thanks to latest spy shots, new design elements have come to the fore. On that basis, automotive rendering artist Pratyush Rout has created digital renders in 6 different colours.
    2022 Royal Enfield Hunter 350cc – Render
New 2022 Royal Enfield Hunter 350cc looks young and sporty. It is aimed at new generation of motorcycle riders. It will be offered in both monotone and dual tone colour options. Spy shots of the model on test show off its athletic stance with blacked-out circular headlamp and body panels, a single seat setup, wide set handlebars and blacked out multi-spoke alloy wheels.
    Royal Enfield Hunter 350cc Render
It gets well positioned footpegs that offer the rider a forward leaning stance. Features also include rear view mirrors, upswept exhaust and a shortened tail segment with a circular tail lamp.
Just like Meteor, it will also sport a semi digital instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer and a rectangular multi information display unit. It could however miss out on the Tripper Navigation system seen on the new Himalayan and Meteor 350. Suspension and braking will be via telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers. Braking will be via disc brakes in front and rear.
    Engine Specs
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is likely to be powered by 349 cc, air cooled, single cylinder engine that also powers the Meteor and Classic. This engine produces 20.2 hp power and 27 Nm torque mated to a 5 speed transmission. The exhaust gets tuned for delivering a more crisper / raspier sound as compared to the other 350cc machines from RE.
There are no indications on pricing as on date but it is likely that the RE Hunter 350 could come in within a price range that will undercut the Honda CB350 on arrival. Once launched, the new Hunter 350 will appeal to a younger segment of buyers in the country and compete with the Honda CB350RS and soon to be launched Yezdi Roadking. More

Tesla Removes Cybertruck Specs from Website, Still Taking Deposits

We all know by now that Tesla doesn’t follow the rules or traditions of other automakers as it launches new models, so the fact that previously announced specs for the upcoming Cybertruck have disappeared from the company website isn’t exactly a huge surprise. The removal of these details does make us wonder if the recently announced production delay is really about changing more than the delivery date.If you want to buy an actual, physical Cybertruck, you can do that by checking out the $250 Mega X Cybertruck brick model, which comes with cute Easter eggs re-created in plastic. The Tesla Cybertruck saga continues to roll along on its own path. From its divisive, angular styling to delays for when the truck is supposed to go into production, the Cybertruck is the perfect vehicle for those uninterested in a standard new-vehicle buying experience. The latest twist is that even the few details Tesla previously offered about the truck might not be as locked in as fans might wish.

Previously, for example, Tesla said the Cybertruck would come in three main flavors: a rear-wheel-drive model for $39,990, an all-wheel-drive option for $49,990, and a tri-motor option for $69,990. These prices and other specs, like its 500-plus miles of range and zero-to-60-mph time of under 2.9 seconds (in the top tri-motor configuration), were removed from Tesla’s website this week.Tesla doesn’t have a traditional PR department, so the company did not release a statement about why details about the Cybertruck were taken off the site. Similarly, CEO Elon Musk’s Twitter feed is silent on the matter.

    Tesla

While the specs have been taken down from Tesla’s official site, you can still find them on Car and Driver and other automotive sites. The big question now is if Tesla is simply updating the specs as it reconfigures what, exactly, it will offer when the truck actually goes on sale in the future or if the continued delays and this spec disappearance hint at larger changes coming between what was promised and what will be delivered. Tesla was supposed to start production of the Cybertruck this year, but that was recently pushed back to 2022, and it’s not inconceivable that the delay means details on what will eventually be delivered have changed. Without an official statement from Musk or Tesla, though, all we can do is guess about the reasons behind the removal. For what it’s worth, Tesla is still taking $100 refundable deposits for the Cybertruck. Now, though, instead of picking a trim based on specs that Tesla has previously promoted, if you click to pay your deposit, the site simply says, “You will be able to complete your configuration as production nears in 2022.”

    Hot Wheels
    amazon.com

    $19.99

The good news is you can still buy an actual, physical Cybertruck online today, just not from Tesla. In addition to the Hot Wheels RC Cybertruck we told you about recently, there’s a new one from Mattel. The toymaker has started taking orders for a $250 Mega blocks (i.e., non-Lego plastic toy) model you put together yourself called the Mega X Cybertruck. This “collector’s building set” is made up of 3283 pieces and costs $250, with a limit of two per person. As befitting a desktop toy for the Cybertruck lover, this model includes a working tonneau cover, a folding tailgate, and Easter eggs like driver’s-side windows that look like they’re cracked, a nod to the ironic “these windows won’t break” demonstration when the truck was unveiled in 2019 and the window did, indeed, shatter. Mattel is promising that orders for the Mega X Cybertruck model placed now will be shipped out in December. If the company really wants to provide customers with an authentic Cybertruck experience, it should push that back to January, at the very least.

New Bajaj Dominar 400 Launch Soon – First Look Walkaround

New Bajaj Dominar 400Despite being a well-equipped bike with sporty profile, Dominar 400 hasn’t been able to register strong sales
Although Dominar 400 has no direct rival, it can be an option for folks considering other bikes like TVS Apache RR310, BMW G310R and KTM 390 Duke. To ensure it remains relevant to evolving customer expectations, Bajaj will soon launch an updated version of Dominar 400.
The new units have started arriving at dealerships. New Dominar 400 could get a slight bump in its price. The current model is available at a starting price of Rs 2.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Dino’s Vault has now posted the first exclusive walkaround and review of the new 2022 Bajaj Dominar 400.
New Bajaj Dominar 400 – First Look Review
It is likely that new Dominar 400 will focus on cosmetic updates. It could get a new colour option and updated graphics. In its current form, the bike is offered in colour options of Aurora Green and Vine Black. Other updates could include a new flyscreen and knuckle guards. These could also be offered as an accessory. The new model with the larger flyscreen was recently spotted at a dealership. With improved wind protection, new Dominar 400 will be better equipped to tackle long distance journeys.
Another key update could be connectivity features. The current model has LCD speedometer, but dedicated connectivity platform is not available. Connectivity features are all the more important for sports touring bikes such as Dominar.
    [embedded content]
Most other things will be the same as the current model. Dominar 400 has a sinewy profile with minimal bodywork. The exposed, blacked-out engine assembly ensures a rugged look and feel. Both colour options are a perfect match for the bike’s powerful silhouette. While the Vine Black variant has an indifferent, brooding character, the Aurora Green variant looks more perky and exciting.
Other key features of Bajaj Dominar 400 include full LED headlamp with modes of automatic headlamp on (AHO), position lamp, low beam and high beam. These allow the bike to effectively tackle a range of riding environments. In-built bungee straps are also provided, which improve the bike’s touring capabilities. The bike has a comfortable, upright riding stance with wide handlebars, making it suitable for touring purposes.
    New Bajaj Dominar 400 engine
There are unlikely to be any changes to the engine. The existing model is powered by a 373.3 cc, liquid cooled, triple spark, single-cylinder motor. It is capable of generating 40 PS of max power at 8800 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The bike is equipped with slipper clutch, which ensures smooth gearshifts during fast deceleration. It also enhances the longevity of the transmission by protecting it from strong forces produced during engine braking.
Dominar 400 utilizes a beam type perimeter frame. It has 43mm USD front forks and multi-step adjustable monoshock suspension with Nitrox at rear. Braking system comprises 320 mm and 230 mm disc at front and rear, respectively. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard. More

With the addition of two new bikes, Aprilia now has a total of four bikes in its India portfolio. The other two are its flagship V4 models, Tuono V4 and RSV4. These are priced at Rs 20.66 lakh and Rs 23.69 lakh, respectively. The Italian manufacturer also offers 125cc and 160cc scooters in India.
Aprilia RS 660 styling and features
For track experience, Aprilia RS 660 is probably one of the suitable bikes currently available in the Indian market. It is also the true-blue head turner on the streets. The bike has an aerodynamic profile and sharp design silhouette. Deliveries have now started. National level professional racer Alisha Abdullah has taken the delivery of first Aprilia RS 660 in India.
Front fascia looks aggressive with features such as dual-beam LED headlight and integrated sleek LED DRLs. Other key features include large windshield, low-set, wide handlebar, sculpted fuel tank, underbelly exhaust, coloured wheels, and short tail.
There are three colour options for Aprilia RS 660, all of which are truly unique and drool-worthy. Most exciting is Lava Red colour option, which utilizes a mix of dark blue and bright red. Another enticing option is Apex Black, which is essentially an all-black colour theme. It utilizes red highlights for a more vibrant look and feel.
Aprilia RS660 First Owner In India
The third colour option is Acid Gold, which has a green-yellow paint. Golden USD forks are offered with all of these colour options. It works to enhance the bike’s sporty profile.
Aprilia RS 660 engine and specs
Both RS 660 and its naked sibling Tuono 660 are powered by a 659cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor. It is capable of generating 100 bhp of max power at 10,500 rpm and 67 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
RS 660 packs in a range of advanced features that were originally designed for a track environment. They have been tweaked to suit city ride conditions. Collectively, these features are available under Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC). The system works via various electronic components, acceleration sensors and gyroscopes.
APRC package for RS 660 includes traction control, wheelie control, cruise control, engine brake during deceleration, engine map and cornering ABS with three levels of adjustment. Another key feature is quick shift that allows fast gear shifts without the need to reduce throttle or use the clutch. Users can also downshift without having to use the clutch.
Suspension system on-board RS 660 comprises 41mm inverted front forks and monoshock suspension at rear. Braking apparatus has 320 mm double disc and 220 mm single disc and front and rear, respectively. Brembo callipers are used at both ends. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.
Price of Aprilia bikes is on the higher side, as they are imported into India as completely built units (CBUs). In comparison, bikes of similar capacity from Suzuki and Kawasaki are imported as CKDs. These work out cheaper, as taxation is less on CKDs as compared to CBUs. More

2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E Gains Battery Capacity

Ford has released details for the 2022 Mustang Mach-E.It receives updates to its battery pack, pricing, colors, and equipment. The 2022 Mach-E is available to order now, but deliveries won’t start until February 2022.The Ford Mustang Mach-E, our EV of the Year award winner, is receiving a few updates for 2022. Along with pricing adjustments for some models and tweaks to the color palette, the most notable change is an increase in usable battery capacity that should boost its range. The standard battery pack goes from 68.0 to 70.0 kWh of usable capacity, while the optional extended range pack increases from 88.0 to 91.0 kWh.

Ford says that the EPA isn’t retesting the 2022 Mach-E, so the official figures won’t change from the current model, which ranges from 211 miles for the standard range AWD model up to 305 miles for the RWD California Route 1 model. But based on the capacity increase, we would expect the updated 2022 model equivalent to the 2021 AWD extended range car we tested to go an extra 8 miles in our 75-mph real-world highway test. The 2021 model achieved 250 miles in that test, compared with an EPA-rated range of 270 miles. We look forward to running a 2022 model in the same test to see how it performs. We asked Ford if it’s possible that these battery updates could be pushed to existing 2021 Mach-E models via over-the-air updates and will update this story when we get more information.Other updates include a new option for all-wheel drive on the California Route 1 trim level that was previously available only with rear-wheel drive. This trim also now comes standard with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, while the performance-oriented GT now has a black-painted roof as standard (it was previously a $385 option). While the base price for the Select model stays the same, at $43,995, the Mach-E Premium’s price goes up $500 to $49,200 and the California Route 1 goes up $375 to $51,875. The more powerful GT model gets a $1005 price cut and now starts at $59,995. It comes standard with all-wheel drive, which is a $2700 option on all other models. The color palette is slightly different, as Iced Blue Silver Metallic replaces Iconic Silver and Carbonized Grey is no longer available. Grabber Blue and Cyber Orange, which were previously exclusive to the GT, are now more widely available throughout the lineup. And there’s a new Ice White Edition available that we’ve previously detailed.Orders for the 2022 Mustang Mach-E are open now on the Ford website, but be prepared to wait. The company estimates that deliveries of the Select and California Route 1 models will start in February 2022, with deliveries of the Premium and GT models starting in April 2022.
