1967 Porsche 912 Listed for Auction, Truly Loved, One Owner

It’s not just a car that’s for sale on Bring a Trailer right now, but a story of a man who loved his Porsche 912.George Vaccaro purchased it as a way to tour Europe on the cheap back in 1967. The 912 lodged itself deeply into his heart, so he and his wife decided to ship it back home to the U.S., where it was nicknamed “the Gray Fox” and used as a daily driver for decades. The auction ends on Thursday, October 28, and bidding is already above $80,000 as of October 24. Vaccaro passed away earlier this year at age 80, and his family hopes for a buyer who’s willing to keep this vehicle alive the way he did all those years. Not many 1967 Porsche 912 coupes are still around, and none of them have the story that auction lot #58316, currently available on Bring a Trailer, does. As this nicely produced video accompanying the auction listing lays out, this is the story of a man who loved his car too much to sell it over a half-century ago.
This content is imported from YouTube. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

During a 10-country European vacation in 1967, George Vaccaro decided to buy a new Porsche—original cost $4515, with options—and drive it across the Continent rather than rent some wheels. At the end of the trip, the plan was, he and his wife would sell the car for enough that they’d save money on the deal. But, after experiencing just what the 912 had to offer, the plan changed and the Porsche found its way to the U.S., where it served as a daily driver for years and years.

    Bring a Trailer

It’s easy to understand why Vaccaro and his wife loved this 912, which earned the nickname the Gray Fox. Painted in Slate Gray with a black vinyl interior, the 1.6-liter flat-four and four-speed manual transmission provided just the thing for enjoyable driving 50-plus years ago. Vaccaro took such good care of this 912 that it still provides an enthusiast experience today.

You can be the next person to own this vehicle if you’ve got the money and, one hopes, the ability to care for this piece of automotive tradition as well as Vaccaro did. The current bid is just under $83,000 with four days left in the auction. The price includes the car’s “importation correspondence, service records, black California license plates, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, magazines in which it was featured, trophies, a tool roll, manufacturer’s literature, and a clean California title,” BaT says.

    Bring a Trailer

The reason this 912 is up for sale now is because Vaccaro passed away earlier this year at age 80. His twin daughters also have an affection for this car, but they want someone who loves cars to become the second owner, someone who will not only enjoy the drive but who is also able to care for—and enjoy—the 912 the way their father did. Because enjoy it he did. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 89,000 miles, but it has rolled over at least once.

    Bring a Trailer

As the trophies and media attention included in the auction hint, this 912 has been getting attention for years. Two years ago, the car underwent an engine-out overhaul with help from BTM Motorwerks of Campbell, California. More recently, the tires and hood struts were replaced and the upholstery was repaired. There’s a four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and an analog clock. The car also comes with 15-inch wheels with Porsche dog-dish hubcaps, a heater, and a Panasonic cassette stereo (apparently installed in 1974 after the original radio was stolen). The exterior has been refinished, and according to BaT commenters who say they’ve seen the Gray Fox in person at events or on the road, this Porsche 912 coupe is about as stunning an example as you’re likely to find these days.

This Tiny Teardrop Camping Trailer Is as Cool as It Is Cute

Camping trailers are a killer way to hit the open road and see the world on vacation, but deciding which size to go with certainly requires weighing some compromises. Go big, and you gain space and creature comforts, but towing requires a big vehicle and a lot of care; go small, and far more campsites are open to you, but you may not have the room for people and gear (like, say, a toilet) that you want. Luckily, the Ultimate Camper from Ultimate Toys manages to combine many of the best attributes of large and small camping trailers into one — we’re not ashamed to call it adorable — package.

    Ultimate Toys

Unlike, for example, Winnebago’s small Hike 100, the Ultimate Camper comes with just one floor plan for now: a compact layout that puts the wet bath and kitchen at the front of the trailer, with the dinette area toward the rear. That dinette can seat up to five (if those five don’t mind getting cozy), but three of them will have to leave come bedtime; the banquettes fold down to create a queen-sized bed for two.
The company’s website doesn’t reveal any info about the water tanks, but you won’t have to worry about a black water one; the Ultimate Camper uses a cassette toilet like the ones found on many camper vans, rather than a full flushing unit like most larger camping trailers and RVs.

    Ultimate Toys

The primary kitchen, located inside, packs a two-burner push-button propane stove and a microwave for cooking duties, as well as a stainless steel sink for prep and cleanup. If the weather’s nice outside (or if the 69-inch interior height makes standing tough for long periods), you can also cook in the exterior kitchen mounted in the stern, which offers a sink, an ice chest, and a grille (and speakers, so you can jam out while grilling, of course). At 15 feet 3 inches long and just 2500 pounds unladen (with a maximum moving weight of 2900 pounds), the Ultimate Camper is light enough to be towed by most SUVs and trucks. Depending on your personal style predilections, you can choose between two vintage designs: the Classic and the Woody. Ultimate Toys hasn’t listed a price for this teardrop trailer just yet, but assuming it falls in line with the broader market, we’d expect it to come in somewhere between $20K–$30K.

Bajaj Dominar 250 Sales Down To 4 Units Ahead Of New Pulsar Launch

Image – Throttle 98Dominar 250 could face cannibalization if Pulsar 250 is competitively priced and offers more value to customers
Launched last year in March, Dominar 250 is one of the most affordable 250cc bikes in the country. It is currently available at a starting price of Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike will soon face competition from one of its own – Pulsar 250. The latter is scheduled for launch on October 28. Ahead of that, Dominar 250 sales have nosedived in September.
    Dominar 250 September sales
Bajaj offers a wide range of motorcycles in the 250cc range. Apart from Dominar 250, they have the Husqvarna twins Svartpilen and Vitpilen, then the KTM Duke 250 and ADV 250. This week will see the launch of Pulsar NS250 and Pulsar 250F.
With production constrained due to global shortage of parts, it is likely that Dominar 250 production numbers are low so that they could more units of the Pulsar 250 Twins. Bajaj has not said anything about discontinuing Dominar 250. In fact, they have been more bullish on the 250cc segment than anyone else in the industry.
From 440 units in August, Dominar 250 sales have dropped to just 4 units in September. Many potential buyers would have adopted a wait and watch policy. They are expected to take a decision once Pulsar 250 is launched. It remains to be seen which among the two emerges as favourite.
Bajaj Dominar Sales Last 12 Months
In the last 12 months, Dominar 250 sales have averaged 560 units per month. Its bigger sibling Dominar 400 appears to be doing relatively better with average monthly sales of 741 units. Dominar 250 sales are likely below expectation, even though the bike is competitively priced. Earlier this year in July, Bajaj had even reduced price of Dominar 250 from Rs 1.71 lakh to Rs 1.54 lakh.
A reduction of 17k was significant, especially at a time when most manufacturers have raised prices of their two-wheelers multiple times this year. However, price cut does not seem to have made any major difference in sales. August sales of 440 units are quite less as compared to a high of 1,750 units in October last year.
Apart from pricing, Bajaj has also worked to improve the bike’s look and feel. In August, three new colour options were introduced for Dominar 250. All three are dual-tone colour options, referred to as Citrus Rush and Matt Silver, Sparkling Black and Matt Silver, and Racing Red and Matt Silver. These have significantly enhanced the bike’s sporty profile.
    Dominar 250 vs. Pulsar 250
Being the largest Pulsar ever, the 250cc model is expected to be a well-equipped bike. In terms of styling, Pulsar 250 sports an entirely new look. Only a limited number of features have been borrowed from existing Pulsar motorcycles. Key updates include a new semi-digital instrument console. It is possible that the bike could get Bluetooth-based connectivity features.
The bike gets a new chassis. The frame comprises a twin tubular cradle frame and there is no downtube. The bike utilizes standard telescopic forks at front and a monoshock absorber at rear. Both wheels have disc brakes and dual-channel ABS is expected to be standard. The bike will be utilizing Grimeca callipers.
Powering Pulsar 250 will be an entirely new 249cc, single cylinder, air/oil-cooled motor. It is expected to generate 24 bhp of max power and 20 Nm of peak torque. It will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike is expected to get advanced features like assist and sipper clutch and variable valve actuation (VVA). In comparison, Dominar 250 has a 248.77 cc, liquid cooled motor that generates 27 ps / 23.5 Nm. It has 37mm USD forks at front. More

Rest of the parts including the motorcycle’s engine and gearbox assembly and hardware setup have been painted black.

The standard edition of Rebel 250 is still available with a matte grey shade and tan brown seats. Some other highlights include a round headlamp, a stubby rear fender and circular rearview mirrors. No other changes have been made to the bike.
    2022 Honda Rebel 250cc Cruiser
    Features & Specifcations
In terms of features, the new Rebel 250 has been equipped with full LED lighting with a quad projector headlight and a fully digital circular instrument cluster. Suspension duties on the motorcycle are carried out by conventional telescopic forks at front and twin shock absorbers attached to the swingarm at rear. Braking duties are handled by single disc brakes at both ends with calipers from Nissin. This is aided by a dual-channel ABS.
Powering Rebel 250 is a 249cc single-cylinder engine that delivers an output of 25.6 bhp and 22 Nm of peak torque. This motor is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Rebel 250 gets an extremely low seat height of 690mm and forward-set footpegs which offer a very relaxed and comfortable riding posture. The bike tips the weighing scales at 177 kilos.
    Rebel in India?
The new Rebel 250 goes on sale in Japan starting January 20, 2022 with prices starting at about Rs 4 lakh. This bike is unlikely to make its way to India shores. However, there have been rumours of Honda bringing the more premium Rebel 500 to India this year, unfortunately, its launch has been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic.
Honda doesn’t offer a single cruiser motorcycle in India but instead has found success by launching a retro-style classic roadster in the form of CB350. This bike is currently available in two derivatives- H’Ness CB350 and CB350RS. Honda could launch the Rebel range in India under their BigWing network as a CBU. More

Jedi Vision K750 Motorcycle Concept Debuts With Futuristic Design

    Jedi Vision K750 Motorcycle Concept
Jinnan Jedi has managed to create something homegrown and fairly original which would cater to select international markets
For some Chinese automobile designers, there isn’t much of a difference between plagiarism and inspiration. This fact has been established with the numerous rip-offs we have covered over the past few years. These select few Chinese brands have managed to get a bad name for the entire Chinese design industry.
However, there are some brands that are trying to change this perception about Chinese automakers and seriously putting an effort into developing genuine and quality products for international markets. Jinan Jedi is one of the manufacturers willing to bring a change in the Chinese automotive industry.
Jedi Vision K750 Concept – Futuristic Styling
The company has revealed a new concept motorcycle named Vision K750 which is far from anything displayed on a global stage. Unveiled at the CIMA (China International Motorcycle Exhibition) show in China, the superbike concept has provided a platform for a series of new launches from a relatively unknown brand in other parts of the world.
The bikemaker has been known to develop motorcycles for Chinese police and security services but is steadily shifting towards the consumer market. Since it is just a concept, many elements on this bike look outrageous.
    Jedi Vision K750 Motorcycle Concept
At the same time, it presents a futuristic appeal in terms of design. Certain highlights which catch our attention include an LED headlight with 76 triangular shards in its internals and flaked by boomerang-shaped DRLs on both sides.
A similar design has been used in the LED taillamps with multiple triangular elements tucked into cowls in the seat unit. Further, the bulbous side fairings and a muscular fuel tank give it the appeal of a sharp-looking sports bike. While the overall design is unique, the front end has a hint of KTM RC 8 while the rear end seems to be inspired by Ducati Panigale.
    Mechanical Specs
K750 Concept is based on a familiar cast aluminum chassis that also underpins other production models from Jedi like the JFR750 naked roadster and GTR750 sports tourer. The architecture has been designed by Suter in Switzerland. This frame sits on upside-down forks at front and mono-shock at rear.
    Jedi Vision K750 Motorcycle Concept
Braking hardware comprises twin disc brakes at front and a single disc at rear chewed down by Brembo calipers. Powering the K750 is the same 730cc parallel-twin DOHC engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. This powertrain returns an output of 68 bhp at 7,500 rpm and a peak torque of 67 Nm at 6,500 rpm. This puts the K750 against the likes of Kawasaki Ninja 650. More

    Top 10 Motorcycles 500cc+ Sep 2021 – RE 650 Twins, CBR650, Hayabusa, Ninja

Royal Enfield 650 Modified By STG TrackerExcluding newly launched products, only three motorcycles in top ten have positive YoY growth in September
It was a bit rough for 500cc+ motorcycle segment in September, as YoY sales have slipped by -23.63%. As compared to 1,566 units sold in September last year, the numbers are down to 1,196 units in September 2021. In terms of volumes, Royal Enfield 650 twins continue to dominate. Second most preferred brand is Kawasaki with six of its bikes featured in top ten. Honda, Suzuki and Harley have one each in top ten.
    Top 10 Motorcycles 500cc+ Sep 2021 – 650 twins dominate
Trendy styling, coupled with powerful engine and affordable pricing, has made 650 twins the most popular choice in 500cc+ motorcycle segment. To boost sales further, Royal Enfield’s 650cc range will soon be expanded to include new products. The new launches could include a 650cc roadster and a 650cc cruiser. The latter is scheduled to debut at EICMA 2021 in Milan, Italy as Super Meteor 650.

Bajaj Pulsar 250cc Twins Spied Up Close – New Details Revealed

New Bajaj Pulsar 250FWhile prices of the new Pulsar 250 will be announced on October 28, deliveries of the new quarter-litre motorcycle are likely to start in Nov
The new Bajaj Pulsar 250 is one of the most hotly anticipated motorcycle launches of the year and it is arriving at a time when bookings usually skyrocket. The upcoming launch also marks the 20th Anniversary of the Pulsar brand of sporty commuter motorcycles.
Ahead of its launch on October 28, the upcoming quarter-litre motorcycles have been spied in detail by The Fat Biker. As already established by now, the new Pulsar 250 will be available in two iterations- Pulsar NS250 and Pulsar 250F. The former will be a naked streetfighter whereas the latter will be a semi-faired sports commuter.
Both versions of the bike flaunt an aggressive front face featuring a single-pod LED headlamp cluster and integrated LED DRLs which look sleeker and sharper than previous iterations of Pulsars. The most noticeable difference between the two variants of Pulsar 250 is that, unlike 250F, the NS250 will not feature a prominent front apron.

The semi-faired 250F takes styling inspiration from its smaller sibling 220F and sports a large front apron comprising a headlamp cowl and a windscreen that integrates into the side fairing. Other than the extended tank shrouds, NS250 doesn’t feature any body panels. 250F offers a clip-on handlebar that is more pulled back and raised towards the rider.

The naked streetfighter, on the other hand, gets a straight line handlebar which leads to a slightly more committed riding posture. Some common highlights on both motorcycles include split grab rails, a side-mounted twin-barrel exhaust canister, a split LED taillight design, a raised tails section, an engine underbelly cowl and a rear tyre hugger attached to the swingarm.
    Hardware Configurations & Features
Underpinning both quarter-litre motorcycles is a brand new chassis comprising a twin tubular cradle frame with no downtube. This frame will be suspended on conventional 41mm telescopic forks at front and a preload-adjustable mono-shock linked to the swingarm at rear. Braking duties will be carried out by single disc brakes at both wheels while the rotors will be clamped down by calipers sourced from Grimeca.
These will be aided by a dual-channel ABS as standard. Talking of features, the new Pulsar 250 will receive a new semi-digital instrument console which could be enabled with Bluetooth. There is no elaborate control setup on the switchgear of the handlebar to suggest the presence of any rider aids. Take a look at the detailed spy video below.

    Expected Engine Specs
Powering the new Pulsar 250 will be a new 249cc single-cylinder air/oil-cooled engine that is likely to push out 24 bhp and 20 Nm of peak torque. This unit will be mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper and assist clutch. Although Bajaj has patented the Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology a few months back, it is yet to be seen if the company will employ this in the new quarter-litre motor. More
