GT-Yes! Porsche Taycan EV Adds 590-HP GTS Trim for 2022

The GTS slots between the 4S and Turbo in the Porsche Taycan trim hierarchy. The GTS also marks the debut of the Taycan Sport Turismo wagon, which ditches its Cross Turismo kin’s additional ride height and body cladding.Deliveries of the Taycan GTS are due to begin in the first half of 2022.Porsche is bridging the gap between the Taycan 4S and Taycan Turbo by adding a new GTS trim to its electric sedan and wagon for 2022. Offered exclusively with the Taycan’s larger 93.4-kWh battery pack (lesser Taycan models come standard with a 79.2-kWh pack), the Taycan GTS has two electric motors (one at the front axle, the other at the rear) that produce a combined peak of 590 horsepower with Launch Control engaged. That’s 28 more peak horses than a Taycan 4S with the same battery pack, but 80 peak horses less than a Taycan Turbo (both with Launch Control engaged). Like other Taycan models, the GTS’s front motor directly drives the front wheels, while the rear unit mates to a two-speed gearbox.Although Porsche claims the all-wheel-drive Taycan GTS claws its way from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, we wager the newest Taycan trim will hit the mile-a-minute mark in a skosh over 3.0 seconds in our hands. Consider the fact we pushed a Taycan 4S to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, or 0.4 second ahead of Porsche’s estimate for the model.
The GTS TouchOf course, the GTS packs more than just extra horses under its slinky sheetmetal, as Porsche blesses the model with trim-specific tuning to the likes of its active air suspension system and torque-vectoring rear end. While the GTS cribs its red-painted six-piston front and four-piston rear rotors from the lesser Taycan 4S, it trades the 4S’s 14.2-inch front rotors for a pair of massive 15.4-inch units (the GTS shares its 14.1-inch rear rotors with the 4S). Those in search of additional braking performance can opt to fit their Taycan GTS with Porsche’s trick tungsten-carbide-coated brakes or a set of carbon-ceramic units. Complementing the additional performance kit of the GTS are a number of distinct exterior and interior cues. In the former case, this includes bits such as a more aggressive front fascia and side skirts, gloss-black decor on the rear fascia, darkened headlight bezels, and black badging, 20-inch wheels, and window trim.Meanwhile, the interior of the Taycan GTS features black brushed-aluminum trim pieces and kick plates, as well as suedelike material (dubbed Race-Tex by Porsche) on the steering wheel, seats, and headliner. If that’s not enough, then Porsche offers an available GTS Interior package that adds contrasting red or gray bits about the cabin. The optional extra also includes matte carbon-fiber trim to the likes of the steering wheel, door panels, and center console.
Debut of the Sport TurismoThe Taycan GTS also marks the debut of the Sport Turismo version of Porsche’s electric vehicle. Whereas the Taycan Cross Turismo wagon wears SUV-like body cladding to complement its additional ground clearance, the lower Taycan Sport Turismo wagon shares its exterior decor with the Taycan sedan. That said, the functional benefits of the Taycan Cross Turismo’s wagon shape carry over unchanged to the Sport Turismo.Predictably, the Taycan GTS’s price falls between those of the $105,150 Taycan 4S and $152,250 Taycan Turbo ($111,650 for the Taycan 4S Cross Turismo and $154,850 for the Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo), with the sedan stickering for $132,750 and the Sport Turismo for $134,650. Both Taycan GTS models are available to order now, with deliveries due to begin before the middle of 2022.

Ram HD, Chassis Cab Trucks to Be Recalled over Diesel Engine Stalling

Stellantis will recall 222,410 Ram Heavy Duty and Chassis Cab trucks from the 2019 and 2020 model years to replace a defective high-pressure fuel pump. The recall is to fix a problem revealed earlier in which some trucks with the Cummins diesel engine were reportedly stalling and subsequently being unable to start again. Truck owners will begin to get recall notices after January 1, Stellantis said.Stellantis, parent company of Ram, has announced it will recall about 222,410 U.S. Ram HD and Chassis Cab trucks from 2019–2020. The recall is to replace fuel pumps in trucks with the 6.7-liter Cummins diesel engine. In October, it was revealed that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) was investigating reports that some trucks would stall and be unable to start again. This was believed to be related to a defective high-pressure fuel pump. A Stellantis statement said the company reviewed warranty data and “discovered the components are subject to inadvertent wear that may contaminate their mechanisms with metal shavings. If this occurs, it may cause the vehicles to stall or prevent them from starting.” Stellantis emphasized it is “unaware” of accidents or injuries as a result of the issue and that it started its own internal investigation before NHTSA did.The NHTSA document said the stalling reportedly occurred when trucks were moving at more than 25 mph and it “resulted in permanent disablement of the vehicle.”There were 22 reports of the problem as of the date the document was published on October 14, 2021. Stellantis’s recall report says a malfunction indicator lamp may light up to indicate the problem is occurring, or there may be “a fuel leak, abnormal engine noise, or a change in drive quality.” Vehicles involved in the recall are Ram 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 trucks built between October 11, 2018, and November 13, 2020.Truck owners looking for more details can call Stellantis at 800–853–1403 or visit NHTSA’s recalls site.

2022 Porsche Cayman GT4 RS Makes 493 HP, Will Sound Fantastic

Porsche rolled out the RS version of the Porsche 718 Cayman at the Los Angeles auto show tonight, revealing that it has the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine from the 911 GT3.In the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, it will make 493 hp and 331 pound-feet of torque, and according to Porsche’s Andreas Preuninger will emit “the most intense sound ever in a GT car.”The 2022 Cayman GT4 RS will go on sale next summer in the U.S., priced at $143,050.The long wait for an RS version of the Porsche Cayman is finally officially over. It’s less than a month since the company dropped images of a disguise-clad GT4 RS prototype being tested in the Alps, but now the finished car has been unveiled at the Los Angeles auto show, and it’s a stunner. The earlier release told us the RS’s Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time but was more reticent about the technical details. We knew the first RS Cayman would use a naturally aspirated flat-six engine, but now the company has confirmed this will be the same 4.0-liter unit that is fitted to the 911 GT3. That’s the one that revs to 9000 rpm and makes a peak of 493 horsepower. The output represents a 79-hp increase over the existing Cayman GT4 and 10 hp less than the engine makes in the GT3, a difference that Andreas Preuninger, head of the GT department, says is down to engineering rather than marketing: “The longer exhaust system means a loss due to back pressure.”

Unlike the regular GT4, there won’t be the option of a manual transmission. Preuninger says there isn’t one available that is able to both work with the Cayman’s mid-mounted engine and take its power and torque. The ratios of the standard seven-speed PDK twin-clutch transmission have been shortened to improve acceleration. Porsche is claiming a 3.2-second zero-to-60-mph time—half a second inside that for a PDK-equipped regular GT4—and a top speed of 196 mph, reached in seventh gear. (The GT4’s 187-mph max arrives in sixth.)We can safely anticipate it will sound truly epic when extended, thanks to the bespoke exhaust system but also the high-level air intakes behind the doors, which have been carefully tuned to deliver induction sound. “The first cars we made were actually too loud. We wanted a quality noise,” Preuninger says, promising it should be “the most intense sound ever in a GT car.”
The other side of the power-to-weight ratio has also been sharpened with some diligent mass saving. Fenders are made from carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic and incorporate cooling ducts similar to those seen on the previous-generation 991 911 GT3 RS and GT2 RS. Specifying the optional Weissach Pack will also see the front hood, door mirror caps, upper and lower side air intakes, and rear wing element turn carbon. Porsche claims a U.S. curb weight of 3227 pounds, 49 pounds less than a PDK-equipped GT4.Chassis changes include a 1.2-inch reduction in ride height, ball-jointed suspension mountings, revised spring and anti-roll bar rates, and new Bilstein dampers, as well as 20-inch forged aluminum wheels with motorsport-style center locks. Cast-iron brake rotors will be standard, with Porsche’s PCCB carbon-ceramic discs an upgrade option.
In addition to the underhung rear wing, other aerodynamic changes include an adjustable front diffuser and a new front spoiler with “flow around” blades. The hood also incorporates NACA ducts, while the louvered vents on the fenders help to reduce air pressure within the wheel wells. Overall, the RS will make up to 25 percent more downforce than the regular GT4, with Preuninger saying that translates to around 220 pounds at 120 mph. Having created what will almost certainly be the ultimate combustion-powered Cayman (since the next generation of the sports-car will be pure electric), Porsche is predictably keen to charge for it. The GT4 RS will cost $141,700, with the first cars set to reach U.S. buyers in the summer of 2022. That’s a huge amount for a Cayman—more than double the price of the base model—yet, if it follows the example set by previous RS models, the biggest problem facing potential buyers may well be finding a dealer willing to take their money for one of the fought-for build slots.

New Suzuki Electric Scooter Officially Teased Ahead Of Launch Tomorrow

New Suzuki Electric ScooterSuzuki has previously announced that it is working on an electric scooter for India and this could very well be it
The welcoming response received from the Indian audience for sporty automatic scooters like Honda Dio, Yamaha RayZR, Aprilia SR series and TVS NTORQ has apparently made Suzuki pause and take notice. While the Japanese brand does cover the premium automatic scooter segment with its stylish Burgman, there still is a void in its portfolio when it comes to a sleek and sporty offering.
New Suzuki Electric Scooter – Design
A video has emerged online containing a few key details of what looks like an upcoming Suzuki automatic scooter. The low quality images point towards a sporty offering which looks set to be pitted against the aforementioned competitors.
Just like its intended rivals, the new Suzuki scooter features an edgy front apron with integrated headlamp (possibly appointed with LED elements). A small visor and clear lens turn indicators are located on the handlebar cowl.
The tail is characterized by a unique split brake-light setup. The video goes on to reveal the scooter’s fully digital dashboard which is reported to have Bluetooth connectivity. Other noticeable elements are split grab rails, simple-looking rear-view mirrors, engine kill switch and bright colour options. The video claims that the new product is aimed at Gen-Z and ends with the caption, “Zipping is the new cruising”.
The rear wheel setup matches that of the Burgman electric scooter test mule
    Technical details
The powertrain details are not clear as of now but we hope to have a better idea in a matter of few hours – as Suzuki Electric scooter launch is scheduled for tomorrow; 18th Nov, 2021. The lightening logo built into the wordings “More…Per…” at the end of the video suggests that the scooter could be housing a completely or partially electrified propulsion system.
The lightening logo in the letter ‘O’ of the word ‘MORE’ – hints at the scooter being electric.
It is to be noted that prototypes of electric version of Burgman were spied testing in the country on more than one occasion. Those could have been the development mules for this new Suzuki scooter.
That said, if the two wheeler were to be equipped with a conventional IC engine, then the Burgman’s 125 cc air-cooled, fuel-injected unit mated to a CVT is the most likely candidate. The motor produces 8.7 hp and 10 Nm of torque. Take a look at the teaser video below.
    [embedded content]
    Will it work?
After struggling to make inroads during the initial years as an independent brand, Suzuki has now found its rhythm in the highly competitive Indian two wheeler market. While the Gixxer series has managed to carve a niche for itself in the mid-premium compact displacement motorcycle space, the brand’s Access and Burgman Street achieved the same feat in the scooter segment.
The new model is a part of Suzuki’s efforts to consolidate its progress in the market. We expect the new Suzuki scooter to be packed with best-in-segment features, and carry a very tempting price tag. Stay tuned as we bring you more updates. More

2022 Dodge Charger and Challenger Jailbreak Package Unlocks 807 HP

2022 Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody Jailbreak models bump the cars’ power from 797 to 807 horsepower. The Jailbreak option package unlocks previously restricted combinations including seven options for seats, stripes, and wheels; six brake caliper color options; five exterior badging finishes; and four choices of steering wheels, seatbelt colors, and floor mats.Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody Jailbreak models will become available for order by the end of 2021.The Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody models are the Campbell’s Chicken Noodle of souped-up American muscle—they appeal to just about anybody. Now, coming later this year, Dodge is adding a dash of horsepower and unlocking more option combinations with exclusive new parts with a Jailbreak option package.

A powertrain recalibration of the supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 gives Jailbreak models a 10-hp gain, for a totally ridiculous output of 807 horsepower. That’s more than 115 horsepower for every word in its ever-growing model name. Not only does output now match the Challenger Super Stock, it’s just a single pony away from the limited-edition 808-hp Demon that’s no longer offered.
Although the Jailbreak option package is less about climbing barbed-wire fences and more about unlocking options previously unavailable for SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody models, it gets its own block of equipment, too. Charger and Challenger Jailbreak models add Hammerhead Grey leather seats, floor-mat accents, sepia and Demonic Red seatbelts, leather steering wheel options, a Copper Weaver carbon-fiber bezel, satin chrome and red exterior badging finishes, a chrome fuel door, a choice of blue or yellow brake calipers, and 20-inch Warp Speed Satin Carbon and lightweight Low Gloss Granite wheels. Chargers also get a black nickel exhaust tip finish, and hood and roof striping. Believe it or not, all of that is only the beginning. This new option package opens previously forbidden equipment options including seven different seats, stripes, and wheels; six brake caliper colors; five exterior badging finishes; and four choices of steering wheels, seatbelt colors, and floor mats.Dodge created a few of their own order combinations just in case the options list starts to taste like alphabet soup. Old School, Brass Funky, Red Dawn, The Classic, Yin Yang, and more should fill whatever prescription your next 807-hp health condition aches for.
The Old School Challenger Jailbreak uses F8 Green paint with 20-inch Warp Speed Satin Carbon wheels, Gunmetal Grey brake calipers, and Hammerhead Grey floor mat accents and seatbelts inside. The Brass Funky Charger Jailbreak is shown with Hellraisin paint, sepia Laguna leather seats with matching floor mats, suede headliner, and an alcantara steering wheel. The 2022 Dodge Charger and Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody Jailbreak option package will be available for customers later in 2021, starting at $995. That’s on top of the $84,645 for the 2021 Charger and $82,675 for the 2021 Challenger in SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody form.

Mazda CX-50 Hybrid Will Use a Toyota-Sourced Powertrain

The new 2023 Mazda CX-50 crossover will eventually offer a hybrid model.Mazda confirmed that the hybrid powertrain will be sourced from Toyota. The CX-50 will be built in the same Alabama factory as the Toyota Corolla Cross.Mazda will collaborate with Toyota on the upcoming hybrid version of the 2023 CX-50 crossover, as vehicle dynamics engineer Dave Coleman confirmed that the SUV’s gas-electric drivetrain will come from Toyota. The company isn’t sharing any further details on the CX-50 hybrid yet, but it will be Mazda’s first hybrid model since the Tribute, a twin to the Ford Escape.

The CX-50 already has ties to Toyota, as it will be built in a new factory in Alabama shared between the two automakers. However, Coleman said that the nonhybrid CX-50—which uses a Mazda platform and Skyactiv gasoline engines—does not share any parts with the Toyota Corolla Cross that’s also built there. The two crossovers are built on separate lines and fit into different size classes, with the Corolla Cross competing against subcompact SUVs and the CX-50 serving as a compact entry. We think that the CX-50 hybrid will use a similar setup as the Toyota RAV4 hybrid, which has a 2.5-liter inline-four as its gasoline engine and two electric motor-generators. A hybrid version of the Corolla Cross is also in the cards, but, because of its smaller size, its powertrain is not likely to be powerful enough for the larger CX-50.Expect to hear more about the CX-50 hybrid next year, as Mazda will likely release details a few months after the nonhybrid models go on sale in the spring.

Mahindra Electric And Tractor, CVs To Get New Logo – Patent Leaks

Mahindra is the largest tractor manufacturer of IndiaEarlier, Mahindra had confirmed that the current ‘Road Ahead’ logo will be retained for its commercial vehicle and farm equipment products
Mahindra recently introduced its new logo for its SUV portfolio which was launched along with the new XUV700 in September. This logo will eventually trickle down to every SUV in Mahindra’s lineup in the coming future. Apart from this, the homegrown automaker has filed trademarks for two more logos.
The two new logos will cater to two different segments of Mahindra & Mahindra’s automotive arm. One of these logos is very similar to the ‘Twin Peaks’ revealed earlier this year for the SUV range. The main difference here is that in this logo, the right-angled triangles overlap with each other through their bases.
New Mahindra Logo for CVs, Tractors and Farm Equipments
It still forms the letter ‘M’. This logo could be used for the company’s commercial vehicle and farm equipment business. It is well-known that the automaker is planning big for the future and aims to invest Rs. 3000 crores for the farm equipment segment and Rs. 1,500 crores for various subsidiaries by FY24.
This new logo will serve as a completely new brand identity for commercial or battery-powered vehicles while also resembling the new ‘M’ logo for Mahindra SUVs. Not just this but Mahindra has also patented a new logo for its upcoming range of electric cars. In comparison to the first logo, this new one is a lot simple and denotes the letters ‘ME’ which should stand for ‘Mahindra Electric’.
New Mahindra Logo For Tractors, CVs, Farm Equipment ?
    EVs Under Mahindra
Mahindra has received this trademark after waiting for almost two years. To jog back one’s memory, Mahindra had filed this trademark for the new logo back in January 2020. Since then, a lot of activities have taken place. The EV arm of the company named Mahindra Electric Mobility Limited (MEML) was formally merged with Mahindra in March this year in order to consolidate the brand’s EV vertical.
    New Mahindra Electric Logo
As per previous reports, Mahindra is planning to launch eight electric cars in India in the next five years. Out of these, four will be based on existing IC engine models and the rest will be brand new EVs which Mahindra terms as ‘Born EVs’. The company expects that by 2027, the Indian market is expected to have witnessed 20 percent penetration of electric SUVs.
Among the upcoming EVs from Mahindra, the eKUV100, based on KUV100, has been spotted testing on roads multiple times. The micro UV will be positioned as an entry-level electric car in the market upon its launch.
However, Mahindra hasn’t yet revealed a specific launch timeline for the battery-powered model. Other than this, the carmaker is also developing a fully-electric version of XUV300 to take on Tata Nexon EV. Mahindra also has plans to launch 5 door version of Thar and a new flagship SUV, likely to be named as XUV900. More
