Ola Electric Car Launch Plan – CEO Shares Teaser (Tata Nexon Rival)?

Is this the upcoming Ola Electric Car?The prospective electric car from Ola is likely to be available in two derivatives- one for private buyers and the other for the fleet segment
After the successful launch of Ola electric scooter, the company is getting ready to launch an electric car. Rumors of an Ola electric car launch have been doing the rounds for quite some time. But now, Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has shared a photo of what could be the new Ola Electric Car.
It is believed that the ride-hailing firm is looking to gain an early mover’s advantage in the current nascent EV space in India. There are no official statements from Ola yet.
    Ola Electric Car Future Ready
The new electric car from the Bengaluru-based startup is likely to be built on a born-electric skateboard platform. The car is expected to be wearing a futuristic look and will primarily be designed as an urban commuter with a limited range, though it is likely to be priced quite competitively.
The Indian mobility sharing firm plans to develop its electric car indigenously and is currently planning to set up a Global Design Centre in Bengaluru for its electric car division. This facility will boast all the requisite facilities including a CMF (colour, materials and finish) lab as well as a clay modelling centre.
    Ola Electric Car Teaser?
It is not the first time that Ola has had eyes on this space. Before entering into the manufacturing segment, it has been associated with a number of EV brands in the past. The company had also planned to induct a limited number of units of the Jayem Neo which was essentially a battery-powered Tata Nano.
The car was developed by Coimbatore-based Jayem Automotives, however, the plans failed to see the end of the light after Nano electric being outcasted. Ola has reportedly hired a few design experts for its electric car project who previously worked with Tata Motors.
    Ola’s Hypercharger Network
Currently, the biggest challenge for all EV manufacturers in India is the lack of charging infrastructure across the country. Ola will be looking to provide a comprehensive solution with a wide charging network spread across the country along with home charging equipment to address this issue. The ride-hailing major is currently setting up a Hypercharger network across India.
Ola Electric Car To Rival Tata Nexon?
Under this initiative, Ola Electric will be installing over 1 lakh charging stations across 400 cities in India. Although Ola has publicly revealed that these facilities will be used for charging its electric two-wheelers, it is yet to be seen if these infrastructures could double as a car charging network.
    Manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu
Ola has already marched towards its aim of providing fully-owned mobility solutions in the EV space by venturing into two-wheeler manufacturing. The company has built a state-of-art manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu which is slated to be the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturing site.
It has an overall annual production capacity of two million / 20 lakhs. Total investment worth Rs 2,400 crore has been earmarked for the construction of this facility. It is likely that the Ola electric car will also be produced at the same factory as the scooter. Once launched, it could rival Tata Nexon, upcoming MG and Maruti electric cars. More

Yezdi Roadking 650cc Motorcycle To Rival Royal Enfield – Launch Soon

New Yezdi Roadking 650cc RenderThe upcoming Yezdi Roadking could utilise the 652cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine from BSA Goldstar instead of the 334cc unit from Jawa
Yezdi brand made a resounding comeback to the Indian two-wheeler space earlier this month which involved the launch of three new motorcycles. These included Adventure, Scrambler and Roadster, each brand name denoting their characteristic and class of motorcycles.
However, we expected the Roadking moniker to make a comeback since it was the primary seller for Yezdi back in the 1980s and 90s. In fact, Classic Legends, maker of Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles in India, has also filed a trademark for the ‘Roadking’ name.
    Yezdi Roadking To Launch Next
New report reveals that a modern interpretation of the classic Yezdi Roadking is currently under development. This was confirmed by Anupam Thareja, Co-founder of Classic Legends. Thareja added that the motorcycle will be based on a bespoke architecture different from the dual-cradle frame underpinning current Yezdi models.
The upcoming Roadking will be the brand’s flagship model and could sit at the top of the Yezdi line-up. While the upcoming iteration of Roadking will surely be a modern affair, Classic Legends would hold onto some classic retro styling as it did with the Jawas and the new Yezdis.
    Yezdi Roadking Name Registered
    Bigger Source of Power
Since Roadking will be based on a new platform and will be a flagship model, it is also believed to get a new heart. In all likelihood, Yezdi could borrow the 652cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which recently made its debut in BSA Goldstar 650.
This engine is good enough to make 45 bhp and 55 Nm of peak torque. The motor is linked with a 5-speed gearbox via a slipper and assist clutch. For reference, BSA is an iconic British motorcycle brand that was revived by Classic Legends last year.
The 650cc mill should be an automatic choice since Classic Legends would want to utilise this engine and platform in multiple models across different brands to optimise its investment costs. If indeed, Roadking will be powered by this motor, it will be a direct rival to the 650cc Twins from Royal Enfield- Interceptor and Continental GT.
    Expected Features
While its looks will be retro, the new Roadking will be laced with a piece of modern equipment comprising features like all-LED lighting, Bluetooth connectivity, a USB charger, a semi-digital instrument cluster, multiple riding modes, and navigation. Hardware configurations are also expected to be similar to BSA Goldstar.
There is no clear indication of the exact launch timeline of Roadking. But unlike most others, Classic Legends have been faster at launching new motorcycles. Considering that the BSA 650 is already out in the market, Yezdi 650 Roadking should not take long to make its debut. If not later this year, Roadking 650 could probably debut next year, to celebrate the 1st anniversary of Yezdi’s revival.

Royal Enfield Himalayan Modified Fire Ambulance At Rs 13.5 Lakh

Royal Enfield Himalayan Fire AmbulanceTwo-wheeler based fire fighting vehicles are already in service in several other cities in India
For the standard set of firefighting trucks, it’s a challenge to reach areas such as slums and other localities with narrow streets. This issue has been faced by fire brigade personnel in several crowded cities in the country. As a solution, two-wheeler-based fire fighting vehicles have been developed. These are in service in several cities including Mumbai, Hyderabad and Kottayam.
A number of these fire-fighting vehicles are based on Royal Enfield motorcycles. The preference is apparently due to the rugged nature of Royal Enfield motorcycles.
In many cases, the choice has been Bullet 500cc bike. The latest addition will be Himalayan-based fire fighting vehicles that will be deployed with Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).
    Royal Enfield Himalayan Fire Ambulance
Himalayan-based firefighting ambulance is equipped with 20-litre water tanks on both sides at the rear. The motorcycle is unlikely to have any issues with the additional weight, as it has been designed to carry heavy luggage. In its stock form, Himalayan comes with dedicated racks at both front and rear.
    Royal Enfield Himalayan Fire Ambulance
At rear, the retrofitted Himalayan also gets a 100-foot pipe and spray nozzle. Other equipment includes a pump for spraying water at high pressure. While the 20-litre tanks will store water by default, it is possible that other fire extinguishing material can be added.
It’s necessary because water alone cannot extinguish all types of fires. For example, throwing water on petrol fires can actually cause them to flare up further. Himalayan firefighting bike will have two personnel on board. The bike will serve multiple purposes in addition to dousing fires. For example, it can be used for rescue and evacuation operations from areas where four-wheeled vehicles cannot reach easily.
It can be used as a reconnaissance bike that can reach the troubled spot quickly and relay information to the control room. The bikes will also work as route clearance vehicles, so that fire brigade team can cruise through traffic and reach the destination in time.

    Himalayan firefighter cost
Initially, three Himalayan fire bikes are being purchased by PCMC at a cost of Rs 13.5 lakh each. It includes the price of the bike and the firefighting equipment that it carries. Stock Himalayan is available at a starting price of Rs 2.16 lakh. The retrofitting is done by a third-party agency that specializes in building firefighting equipment.
Engine will be same as stock version, a 411cc air cooled, SOHC unit. It generates 24.3 bhp of max power at 6500 rpm and 32 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox.
To ensure it is easily noticeable, Himalayan fire bikes are expected to get a dual-tone colour scheme of red and yellow. This is the standard colour code for firefighting vehicles in most parts of the world. More

To commemorate the occasion, Chevy is releasing a 70th Anniversary Edition package for 2023 Corvettes, including the new Z06.

Tesla Cybertruck Video Reveals That There Is at Least One Cybertruck

    Cybertruck Owners Club via YouTube

A video clip, showing the upcoming Tesla Cybertruck on what seems to be a shop floor, surfaced on YouTube today.Although this is circulating on the video-sharing site as a “leaked” video, the two people involved in shooting it don’t seem to be making any effort to hide their participation.Perhaps not coincidentally, Tesla will be holding an earnings call on Wednesday, January 26. We here at Car and Driver like to maintain a healthy skepticism when it comes to manufacturer claims that seem dubious. Sometimes, we even prompt fixes so that car company braggadocio aligns with reality. So while we’d certainly like to drive a Tesla Cybertruck, we wouldn’t bet our bulletproof windows on whether it’ll arrive before Elon colonizes Mars. Both because we’re skeptical, and because Tesla has given us no proof that the Cybertruck is actually imminent anytime soon. And this new video doesn’t change that.

In a four-minute clip posted by several different YouTube accounts, a guy in a high-vis vest does a walkaround of the truck while commenting on the details he could see, which don’t amount to much. The headlights keep coming on, possibly because of proximity sensors or cameras, or maybe because someone from Tesla is just offscreen turning them on. We don’t see the interior. He doesn’t open the tailgate. There are cables of some sort running laterally across the floor of the bed, seemingly held in place with sandbags. What are they for? Why the sandbags? Our narrator does not explore this line of speculation. He comments that the truck looks like a refrigerator, and it sounds kind of like a compliment. There’s another guy with tattoos who seems to know more about the truck than the guy who’s filming. The truck has external rearview mirrors but no door handles. It has one windshield wiper. The mirrors might be a production item. Or they could be temporary, for testing. We don’t know what the deal is with any of this. All we do know is that Tesla parked a Cybertruck by itself where two dudes could examine it at their leisure and then post the resulting video online without fear of reprisal—garnering attention and stoking the idea that an important product is nearing production—a few days ahead of an earnings call. Huh!

What we don’t know is anything else, even about this particular truck. Was it built at the Texas Gigafactory, on an assembly line, as car companies do to fine-tune the production process and identify potential snags? Or is it a hand-built prototype? Does it have a production-ready powertrain? How much will it cost? Is this one smaller than the original concept they unveiled? Is this even at the Texas Gigafactory or are we led to think so because the guys have southern accents? Not to be too conspiracy-minded, but simultaneously pumping the idea that the factory and the truck are both further along than they actually are would be pretty smart.Anyway, there’s definitely a Cybertruck, and they’re planning to build more at some point. That we know. Probably.

4 New Lamborghinis Coming This Year, Plug-In Supercars to Follow

Lamborghini will release four new cars this year, and they’ll be the final Lamborghinis to use gas engines without any electric assistance. That’s according to CEO Stephan Winkelmann in an interview with the U.K.’s Car magazine. These new models will be followed by a plug-in-hybrid replacement for the Aventador in 2023, with plug-in Huracán and Urus models arriving the year after. Lamborghini’s first electric car will likely be a grand tourer, and that one is currently in the very early planning stages, according to Winkelmann. While Ferrari is already building two series production hybrid supercars—the plug-in SF90 Stradale and its baby brother, the 296GTB—Lamborghini has made just one electrified model, the limited-production Sián. But that is soon to change, with Lamborghini boss Stephan Winkelmann revealing the Italian supercar maker’s path toward an electric future in a recent interview with CAR magazine. Before Lamborghini’s electrified onslaught begins, however, the last Lamborghinis with a gas-only powertrain will arrive this year. Winkelmann confirmed two new variants of the Huracán and two versions of the Urus SUV as part of a mid-cycle facelift. The first new Huracán model is expected to be the Sterrato, a rally-style off-road supercar first shown as a concept back in 2019. Car claims that the second Huracán derivative will be a subtler take on the garish high-performance STO (think Porsche 911 GT3 Touring), possibly called JV Stradale. The updated Urus has already been spotted testing and is likely to add a high-performance model.

    Lamborghini

Plug-In Hybrids Coming, Plus a New EngineThen 2023 will mark the start of Lamborghini’s electrification plans, with Winkelmann revealing that the Aventador replacement will arrive that year sporting a plug-in-hybrid setup with a new V-12 engine. This will be Lamborghini’s first plug-in model, and itwill quickly be followed by two more, an Urus and a Huracán, in 2024. The Urus will use a V-8, but Winkelmann remained tight-lipped about what will power the plug-in Huracán, only saying that it will have a “completely new engine.” According to Car it will be a V-8, but unlike the unit found in the Urus, it will be developed by Lamborghini itself and not shared with Audi or Porsche. Car claims the V-8 will have a 10,000-rpm redline and will be able to run on synthetic fuels, with the hybrid system generating an approximate total of 850 horsepower.

Further down the line, Lamborghini is preparing a fully electric grand tourer. Lamborghini’s first EV is still in its early planning phase, with the company testing electric rivals and working out the details of what the car will need to be competitive. While it may be a while until we see Lamborghini’s EV debut, the Italian automaker has plenty of exciting models to keep us sated in the meantime.

Jeep Grand Wagoneer SUV Spied in Long-Wheelbase Form

The Jeep Grand Wagoneer is arguably the definition of American excess, and the big Jeep is both beautiful and atrocious for it. Sure, no one needs an approximately three-ton box with a 471-hp V-8 that rockets it to 60 mph in 5.4 seconds, nor does anyone need up to seven infotainment-related screens or enough leather and wood trim to put an Aspen ski lodge to shame, but dammit, they want it. Is that not the American Dream, after all? [editoriallinks id=’da5f97fb-da53-491a-9115-a8b6da79027c’ align=’left’][/editoriallinks]Yet, as indulgent as it is, the Grand Wagoneer still shows some signs of restraint. At 214.7 inches long, Jeep’s full-size SUV casts a shadow more than a foot shorter than that of the largest Cadillac Escalade, the Escalade ESV. This is due to change soon, though, as Jeep seems intent on adding a long-wheelbase variant to the Grand Wagoneer model line, as evidenced by these images that show the vehicle undergoing testing alongside a standard-wheelbase model. [image id=’5b6c5e39-14b3-410c-8224-942ad01b67f8′ mediaId=’c9068c95-f3e2-4ac1-8373-2b25477e290a’ align=’center’ size=’medium’ share=’false’ caption=” expand=” crop=’18×11′][/image]The 2022 Grand Wagoneer’s measurements top those of the standard-wheelbase Escalade by 3.7 inches in overall length and by 2.1 inches in wheelbase (at 123.0 inches). In much the same way, the long-wheelbase Grand Wagoneer (the Grandiose Wagoneer?) will almost certainly overshadow the giant Escalade ESV with its 134.1-inch wheelbase. Although we only see Jeep testing an extended Grand Wagoneer in these images, we believe the brand plans to offer the less opulent Wagoneer in long-wheelbase form as well.Save for additional third-row space and cargo room, the longer Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer should carry over the features of its shorter kin, including those models’ powertrain options. This includes the likely addition of a plug-in hybrid 4xe variant. One thing that is likely to remain missing from this extra-large Wagoneer model, however, is Jeep’s Trail Rated badging. If the standard-wheelbase iterations of the Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer lacked the agility to earn this distinction, then these even bigger versions—with surely worse departure and breakover angles—can be expected to fail to achieve the honor. Jeep is still keeping quiet about its longer Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer for now. That said, we think the off-road-oriented brand will formally unveil these massive models before the end of the year, likely as 2023 or 2024 models.[poll id=’f3777272-1ea8-41fb-beb7-9d840b96bd0f_98d2ad120519b’ type=’text’ question=’Should Jeep add long-wheelbase Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer variants to its model line?’ answer1=’Yes.’ answer2=’No.’][/poll][editoriallinks id=’eda9a23f-9579-4c53-a7dd-a25e7bc488fe’ align=’center’][/editoriallinks]
