Royal Enfield Sales, Exports Breakup Nov 2021 – Classic, 650 Twins, Bullet, Meteor

Image – DCD CarsRoyal Enfield sales dipped 2.12 percent in domestic markets while exports surged 48.09 percent on a YoY basis
The ongoing global semi-conductor shortage has taken its toll across every two and four wheeler maker in India. Production schedules are in turmoil and deliveries are being deferred to contend with this shortage. New launches are also being put on hold as a result of these supply issues.
Royal Enfield was also affected by production constraints right from 2020 itself. It was one of the reasons why launch of Meteor 350 and new gen Classic 350 had to be delayed. However, despite delay, both motorcycles have found favour among buyers in India with waiting period stretching to as long as 2 months.
Royal Enfield Sales Breakup Nov 2021
Even as domestic sales dipped on a YoY basis, the company range saw increased demand in global markets. On a YoY basis, Royal Enfield sales dipped 24.12 percent to 44,830 units in Nov 2021 as against 59,084 units sold in Nov 2020. In terms of MoM sales, Royal Enfield sold 40,611 units in October 2021, relating to growth of 10.39 percent.
It was the company’s Classic 350cc that was most in demand in the past month despite a 50.24 percent de-growth. Sales stood at 19,601 units, down from 39,391 units sold in November 2020. MoM sales dipped only marginally by 0.64 percent over 19,728 units sold in October 2021.

RE Bullet 350 sales increased 34.09 percent YoY and 50 percent MoM to 8,733 units in November 2021. However, sales of the Meteor 350 dipped 3.64 percent to 6,775 units in the past month, down from 7,031 units sold in November 2020 and down 13.71 percent from 7,851 units sold in October 2021.
Also on sales charts in the 350cc segment, at No. 4 was  RE Electra 350 with a 21.98 percent YoY growth in sales. Sales which had stood at 3,490 units in November 2020, increased to 4,257 units in the past month. It was also a massive 89.54 percent MoM growth from 2,246 units sold in October 2021. Increased demand was also seen in the case of the RE Himalayan. Sales surged 113.55 percent YoY to 3,310 units, up from 1,550 units sold in November 2020. MoM sales however dipped 11.21 percent from 3,728 units sold in October 2021.
Trailing sales list was RE 650 Twins, which though much in demand in global markets, has failed to garner as much sales from buyers in India as compared to the other bikes in the company’s product range. Sales in the past month stood at 2,154 units, up 94.23 percent over 1,109 units sold in November 2020. MoM sales also increased 74.27 percent from 1,236 units sold in October 2021.
Royal Enfield Exports Breakup Nov 2021

Here it was the Meteor 350 that commanded the list with 2,605 units making their way to global markets, up 937.85 percent over 251 units shipped in November 2020. MoM sales also increased 114.05 percent from 1,217 units sold in October 2021.
Shipments of the RE 650 Twins stood at 1,893 units in the past month, up 6.41 percent over 1,779 units shipped in November 2020. Lower down the order, RE Himalayan (918 units) and Classic 500 (33 units), noted de-growth at 8.75 percent and 96.01 percent respectively in a YoY basis and down 11.0 percent and 45 percent respectively in terms of MoM shipments. There were no exports of Bullet 350 and Bullet 500 either in October or in November 2021.
    Recent Updates From RE
Classic 350cc has achieved a 1 lakh production milestone but has also faced some recall issues. Models made between 1st September 2021 and 5th December 2021 have been affected by a braking issue for which 26,300 units of Classic 350 were recalled. This recall was only for Classic 350 motorcycles with rear drum brakes and single channel ABS and no other motorcycle models were affected.
Royal Enfield is working on a new Himalayan variant. The Scram 411, as it will be called, has been spied on test and in a more a road-biased guise as against the off-roader stance of the current Himalayan. More

Ford F-150 Lightning Is Not Just an Electric Truck, It's Also a Mobile EV Charger

Ford F-150 Lightning and PowerBoost hybrid models offer Level 2 EV charging capability courtesy of optional Pro Power Onboard generators. The standard 2.4-kilowatt Pro Power Onboard generator, however, lacks this feature. The upcoming F-150 EV, the Lightning, offers an available 9.6-kW generator, while the PowerBoost hybrid is available with a 7.2-kW setup.Call it the EV Centipede, because Ford’s electrified F-150 models are capable of charging other electric (and presumably plug-in gasoline-electric hybrid) vehicles by using the Lightning electric and PowerBoost hybrid trucks’ available 7.2- or 9.6-kW onboard generators. Now that should generate some goodwill.Dubbed Pro Power Onboard, the optional function includes a 240-volt plug for Level 2 charging capability. A lesser, 2.4-kW variant of Pro Power Onboard is standard on both the F-150 Lightning electric and PowerBoost hybrid pickups, but it does without the 240-volt plug. Ford claims F-150 models so equipped are capable of adding up to 20 miles of range in an hour to a rear-wheel-drive Mustang Mach-E equipped with the SUV’s larger battery pack; 13 miles of range in an hour to an F-150 Lightning; and 10 miles of range in an hour to a Ford E-Transit cargo van with a low roof.

Sure, those sums won’t exactly break any charging-rate records, but even so, it’s nice to know your F-150 can add a few extra miles of range to the EV of a fellow driver that ran out of electricity just a few miles shy of the nearest charging station. Likewise, it seems consumers who own two EVs yet rely largely on a single charging outlet, can create the aforementioned EV Centipede by plugging their F-150 Lightning into their grid-fed charging outlet while simultaneously charging their other EV from the Lightning’s 240-volt outlet. In fact, it seems that with enough F-150 Lightnings, this theoretical EV Centipede can go on for miles and miles, with each Ford truck drawing a charge from the one in front of it.That said, Pro Power Onboard isn’t strictly for charging other EVs. All versions of the onboard generator are capable of powering or charging small electronics such as cellphones or laptops courtesy of their 120-volt outlets. Or, as we learned earlier, an F-150 PowerBoost hybrid with the optional 7.2-kW Pro Power Onboard generator can power a house.

Tesla Model Y Is EV Maker's Second to Score IIHS Top Safety Pick+ Award

This content is imported from YouTube. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

The Tesla Model Y has been named to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s list of Top Safety Pick+ vehicles for 2021. It is only the second Tesla vehicle to be deemed this safe by the IIHS.Previously, the only Tesla EV to qualify as a TSP+ was the 2019–2020 Model 3. Nearly 80 new 2021 and 2022 vehicles have been named TSP+ this year.To be named to the TSP+ list, a vehicle needs to score well on six crashworthiness tests as well as get an Advanced or Superior rating for its front crash prevention. It also needs to have highly rated headlights. The latest vehicle to get the Top Safety Pick+ designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) is the Tesla Model Y. The only other Tesla vehicle that was awarded IIHS’ Top Safety Pick+ status was the 2019–2020 Model 3. The Model Y has also been given a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
This content is imported from YouTube. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

To qualify for Top Safety Pick+, a vehicle needs three things, the IIHS has decided. First, it needs to have scored the top Good rating on a number of crash tests, including: driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, original side, roof strength, and head restraint tests. Second, it needs to have been given either an Advanced or Superior rating for available front crash prevention, including vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations. The Model Y managed to get Superior, despite Tesla’s using a camera-only system for its front sensor suite. Third, the headlights need to be considered either Acceptable or Good—and they must be standard equipment. The slightly lower Top Safety Pick rating category is exactly the same as TSP+, but with optional Acceptable or Good headlights.

    IIHS

The IIHS ran a number of 2021 Model Y electric vehicles through six crashworthiness tests to determine its rating. These crash tests include small-overlap front (driver and passenger side), moderate overlap front, original side test, roof strength, and head restraints and seats. Following the small overlap front test, engineers found that the driver’s-seat crash test dummy’s position indicated that “the driver’s survival space was maintained very well.” IIHS also said that the the frontal and side curtain airbags “worked well together to keep the head from coming close to any stiff structure or outside objects that could cause injury” and that “the driver’s space was maintained well, and risk of injuries to the dummy’s legs and feet was low.” Following the moderate overlap front crash test, the dummy’s head hit the side curtain airbag during rebound, but IIHS said that, overall, “the driver’s survival space was maintained very well.”Almost 80 models from the 2021 or 2022 model year were named Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS this year. Tesla doesn’t do model years, opting for rolling updates, but the IIHS counts the current model as a 2021–2022 vehicle, and the TSP+ rating applies to any Model Y vehicles built after April 2021. There are 10 other Top Safety Pick+ vehicles in the mid-size luxury-car category that IIHS fit the Model Y into, including three versions of the Volvo V60, the Lexus IS, and the Acura TLX.

2022 Honda CBR250RR New Trico Edition Colour Debuts

2022 Honda CBR250RR New Trico Colour EditionApart from the new colour, 2022 Honda CBR250RR will continue with the same set of features as current model
To ensure a better match with CBR Fireblade DNA, Honda has introduced a new Trico Edition variant for CBR250RR in Malaysian market. It replaces the red colour scheme that was introduced in 2020. Price remains unchanged at RM 25,999, which is approximately Rs 4.67 lakh (ex-sh).
2022 Honda CBR250RR New Trico Edition details
As the name suggests, the new colour scheme is a combination of three primary colours – red, blue and white. Red shade is predominant, as can be seen on the front fender, headlamp cowl, side fairing, fuel tank and seat frame. Blue shade is used on the sides in a linear manner, stretching from the side fairing to the rear seat frame. Third highlight is the white shade that is used on side fairing and for branding elements.
Intermix of red, blue and white create an exciting contrast with the blacked-out bits. Much of the bike’s core parts are blacked-out such as chassis, alloy wheels, sections of front cowl, and engine. USD forks in golden finish further enhance the bike’s sporty profile.
Second colour option for Honda CBR250RR is Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic, which has been retained as is. It is essentially an all-black theme with contrasting red highlights. It too has golden USD forks. While Trico Edition seems more fun and livelier, the black theme is all about stealth, power and intrigue.
2022 Honda CBR250RR New Trico Edition
2022 Honda CBR250RR engine and specs
Hardware is largely the same as current mode. Honda CBR250RR is powered by a parallel twin cylinder 249.7 cm, liquid cooled motor. It generates 40 hp of max power at 13,000 rpm and 25 Nm of peak torque at 11,000 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike has assist slipper clutch and quick shifter, which work to improve overall ride dynamics. It also has throttle-by-wire system controls.
A uniquely-shaped full LCD digital instrument console sits snugly at the front. It displays a range of information such as fuel gauge, gear position and ride mode. There are three ride modes, Comfort, Sport and Sport+. The bike has diamond truss frame with USD front forks and 5-way adjustable monoshock unit at rear. Braking system comprises disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS as standard.
    Honda CBR250RR India launch?
It is unlikely that Honda CBR250RR will be launched in India. In terms of sale volumes, there’s limited scope for fully-faired quarter litre bikes in Indian market. Honda will focus more on mid-weight motorcycle segment, where it has had good response to bikes like CB350 and CB350RS.
Over the next three years, Honda plans to increase sales in this segment to around 3 lakh units per annum. To make it possible, multiple new products are expected to be introduced. Honda is also working to increase its BigWing outlets to boost sales of its big bikes. More
