    Ola Electric Scooter S1 Buyers To Get S1 PRO – New Delivery Update

    After numerous delays, Ola Electric finally started dispatching its recently launched electric scooters S1 and S1 Pro to customers all across the country. In a peculiar move, the EV manufacturing startup has decided to upgrade all its customers of S1 to the top-spec S1 Pro variant. However, this looks like a free upgrade, but it comes with a catch.
    Ola Electric Scooter S1 Buyers – Free Upgrade?
    Customers who have booked the base S1 variant of the electric scooter will receive a scooter that will be equipped with all hardware of S1 Pro. This also includes the larger battery pack but the extra features will be kept out of reach from the owners. In order to avail the full potential of hardware and extra features, customers have to shell out an additional Rs 30,000.
    This will effectively make it the same monetary outlay as S1 Pro with its initial price at Rs 1.30 lakh which is a premium of Rs 30,000 over the base S1 variant. Premium features such as cruise control, Hyper mode, hill-hold assist in addition to higher range, higher top speed, higher charging rate will be unlocked only after the software upgrade.
    It seems that S1 buyers will be delivered a scooter that will be laced with all specs and features of S1 Pro but will be calibrated in such a manner that users will only be able to enjoy the specs and features of S1 only. Therefore, buyers will have the option to upgrade to a higher variant even after initially buying a lower-spec variant.

    S1 and S1 Pro Specs
    However, it should also be noted that customers will be provided with a larger and heavier 3.97kWh battery pack but will only be able to use a 2.98kWh capacity. This would reduce the range of battery on a single charge which is currently rated at 121 km for the base variant. Top speed will be limited to 90 kmph but with the heavier battery pack, performance could decrease.
    Ola is yet to officially declare the specs of this variant and we are still waiting for official details. Meanwhile, Ola offers a common 5.5kW electric motor to both S1 and S1 Pro which return a peak output of 8.5kW and 58Nm of torque. Both models receive Normal and Sport modes but S1 Pro receives an additional Hyper mode. Further, both models receive the same hardware configurations.
    Features on offer
    In terms of features, amenities common to both S1 and S1 Pro include touchscreen infotainment, side-stand alert, anti-theft alert, proximity lock/unlock, remote boot lock, call and message alerts, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, onboard navigation, find my scooter, HMI moods with sound, reverse mode and much more.
    Ola Electric has started working on the expansion of its charging network. On completion, it will be a dense network comprising more than 100,000 charging points which will be the largest two-wheeler charging network in the country.     Yezdi Roadking Adventure, Scrambler Spied Up Close In New Spy Shots

    Classic Legends will be officially unveiling the Yezdi brand of motorcycles on January 13, 2022. This will be the third brand that the Indian bike maker will be reviving after relaunching Jawa in 2018 and BSA earlier this year. The company will be launching the Yezdi brand by introducing two motorcycles- a scrambler and an adventure bike.
    Test mules of both models have been frequently spotted on Indian roads in recent times. The upcoming Yezdi siblings have been caught on camera once again ahead of their global debut in a couple of weeks. A spy video of both motorcycles has been uploaded on Instagram courtesy of Bhuvan Chowdhary.
    Although in their camouflaged guises, both motorcycles appear to be in their final stages of testing. Both motorcycles are expected to be underpinned by a new architecture accompanied by a higher load-bearing rear subframe. While Yezdi Roadking scrambler will take on the upcoming Royal Enfield Hunter, Yezdi Adventure will lock horns with Himalayan.
    Yezdi Roadking, ADV- Design
    When it comes to styling, both motorcycles sport a distinct design but flaunt some common neo-retro styling elements such as a round headlamp, fork gaiters and wire-spoke wheels. The scrambler also receives a teardrop-shaped fuel tank and circular rearview mirrors which further accentuate its retro appeal. Other styling highlights include dual exhaust canisters, a circular LED taillight and a single-piece seat with a ribbed pattern.

    Coming to its adventure sibling, the bike gets signature ADV styling highlights such as a large windscreen and a beak up front along with a sculpted fuel tank and a taller stance. It also features split-style seating and a raised tail section. Unlike the scrambler, the adventure bike boasts of a single-sided upswept exhaust canister and different radiator shrouds in comparison to current Jawa models.
    Mechanical Specs & Features
    In all likelihood, both bikes will be powered by a 334cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that kicks out 30 bhp and 32.74 Nm of peak torque. This unit will be paired with a six-speed gearbox via a slipper and assist clutch. The powertrain currently propels Jawa Perak and will also be seen empowering the brand’s upcoming cruiser.
    Coming to the hardware setup, frames on both motorcycles will be suspended on conventional telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock with preload adjustability at rear. However, the Adventure bike is expected to offer more travel than its scrambler sibling. Both motorcycles will roll on spoked wheels that are shod with dual-purpose tyres.

    Cyborg Yoda Electric Motorcycle Cruiser Unveiled – First Look

    The ongoing electric mobility revolution has led to the birth of many new promising startups in the Indian automotive market. The latest to join the bandwagon is a homegrown startup named Ignitron Motocorp which has announced its foray into India’s two-wheeler electric vehicle (EV) motorbike segment under the brand ‘CYBORG’.
    Ignitron will introduce a range of premium electric bikes under the Cyborg brand with swappable batteries. The company will focus on making the safest motorbikes in India and will continually explore new ways to improve battery technology and manufacturing processes.
    Cyborg Yoda Electric Motorcycle Cruiser
    Manufacturing and assembly of the electric motorcycles have already begun at the company’s plant in Manesar, Gurgaon. In its initial phase, Ignitron Motocorp has a capacity to produce 40,000 units annually in the financial year 2022-23.
    Cyborg will launch three electric motorcycles in this range, one each in the Cruiser, Regular and Sports segments. These battery-powered bikes will cater to the mid to high-speed category. Take a look at the first look video below.

    Speaking on the announcement, Mr. Raghav Kalra, Founder, Ignitron Motocorp Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are delighted to announce our entry into the electric two-wheeler motorbike segment, with our new brand CYBORG. We believe that electric mobility will define the future of transport and India is on its path to faster adoption of EVs.”
    Cyborg has also unveiled the brand’s first electric motorcycle in the form of a cruiser named Yoda. Upon launch, Yoda will also become the first fully electric cruiser made in India with a battery swapping facility. The company says it has been tested for the toughest and most extreme terrain and climatic conditions in India.
    Design & Features
    Yoda gets a traditional cruiser stance with neo-retro styling elements such as round triple-beam headlamps, circular taillight and turn indicators; a teardrop-shaped fuel tank and a split-style seat. Like a conventional cruiser, it gets a tall and wide handlebar that is pulled towards the rider. The low-saddle and forward-set footpegs further complement relaxed cruiser-friendly ergonomics.

    In terms of features, Yoda will be equipped with LED taillights and turn indicators, an anti-theft alarm, a pillion backrest, keyless ignition, side pannier boxes and an adjustable suspension setup. Although exact hardware configurations have been kept under wraps, from the images Yoda appears to receive conventional telescopic forks upfront and twin spring shock absorbers at rear.
    Range & Other Details
    The brand also hasn’t revealed exact battery and motor specifications but has claimed a range of 120 km on a single charge in Yoda. Ignitron will also be partnering with local vendors to provide Road Side Assistance and a battery swapping station called CYBORG (Joule) Stations that will be present every 1 kilometer.     2022 Husqvarna Electric Scooter Spied Again – Chetak Based New EV

    The upcoming Husqvarna Vektorr electric scooter is expected to make its global debut in production guise next year
    Bajaj Chetak is one of the most popular electric scooters in the country at the moment, if not by volume then by the brand. The company’s global partnership with the KTM group which also comprises the Husqvarna brand has proved to be an instrumental tool for Bajaj’s growth.
    The concept of platform sharing has already borne fruits for Bajaj and KTM and now it will be expanded further in the electric mobility space as well. A spy shot of the upcoming electric scooter from Husqvarna has been spotted testing near Pune. A concept based on the same e-scooter was unveiled earlier this year.
    Named Vektorr, this electric scooter is expected to be based on Chetak but is likely to don a completely different top. The latest spy shots reveal a prototype of the scooter completely wrapped under camouflage. Latest spy shot comes around the same time when Bajaj announced it was setting up a new electric vehicle plant in Akurdi.
    2022 Husqvarna Electric Scooter – Expected Specs
    Details about this upcoming e-scooter are too thin at the moment. However, the concept prototype revealed earlier this year is powered by a 4kW electric motor capable of a top speed of 45 kmph with a claimed range of 95 km on a single charge. The motor is expected to derive energy from the same 3kWh lithium-ion battery pack.
    Husqvarna Electric Scooter and Bajaj Chetak spied together
    In Chetak, this powertrain returns a range of up to 95 km on a full charge. However, this range drops to 85 km on a single charge when the scooter runs on Sport Mode. Top speeds at Sport and Eco modes are rated at 70 kmph and 45 kmph respectively. It will be interesting to see if the same specs will be offered by Husqvarna in the final production model of the scooter.
    Vektorr is also likely to borrow its cycle parts from its Indian cousin including a single-sided trailing link front suspension, single-sided swingarm and a mono-shock at the rear. The electric motor will be mounted on the swingarm with a transmission sending power to the wheel thus eliminating the need for a chain or belt drive. Braking hardware is likely to comprise a front disc and a rear drum setup.
    Styling & Expected Features
    Coming to its styling, the camouflaged 2022 Husqvarna Electric Scooter appears to be longer than Bajaj Chetak. The upcoming Vektorr e-scooter should also wear different body panels as judged by its silhouette. Other styling highlights would include a flat seat, oval rearview mirrors and a single-piece grab rail.
    While the spy image doesn’t showcase any part of its front end, we expect Vektorr to stay close to the concept flaunting a round headlamp with an integrated LED DRL, slim apron and an exposed front fork. In terms of features, Vektorr is expected to be equipped with a round digital instrument console that could be identical to Chetak but is likely to pack more features including turn-by-turn navigation.     Honda has launched an updated version of Supra GTR 150 scooter in select international markets. The latest set of yearly updates to the Maxi scooter is strictly cosmetic and subtle in nature. While the sports scooter is retailed as Supra GTR 150 in Indonesia, in Vietnam it will be offered as Winner X.
    In the latest iteration, Supra GTR 150 gets a revised front end which looks meaner and more aggressive than its predecessor. The front apron now features a dual pod LED headlamp setup that boasts an angular and geometric design. The apron itself seems to have widened and looks a lot more muscular.
    2022 Supra GTR 150- Styling
    Just like a traditional superbike, the apron flows down till the underbelly. The raised tail section of Supra GTR looks equally sharp and sporty with its sleek fender and split grab rails. It also receives a black side-on upswept exhaust.
    Like most Maxi-scooters, Supra GTR doesn’t feature a prominent footboard as the space between two legs is dominated by a large transmission tunnel. That said, riding ergonomics is similar to those of a commuter motorcycle with a handlebar, centre-set footpegs and an accessible seat height of 786 mm.

    Hardware & Powertrain Specs
    In terms of features, the 2022 Supra GTR offers gizmos such as a LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, a USB charging port, and a blue backlit fully-digital instrument cluster. Coming to its dynamics, the scooter rides on 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends that are wrapped around by tubeless tyres.
    Powering the 2022 Supra GTR is a 150cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that kicks out 15.4 bhp at 9,000rpm and a peak torque of 13.5 Nm at 6,700rpm. The motor is paired with a 6-speed constant mesh manual gearbox.
    Supra GTR 150 sits on conventional telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock at rear. Braking duties are handled by a single disc brake at each end which is aided by a single-channel ABS. Supra GTR isn’t expected to go on sale in the Indian market. This space is currently occupied by scooters like Yamaha Aerox 155 and Aprilia SXR 160.

    Aerox 155 is the closest rival to Supra GTR 150 in terms of specs and features. In comparison to Supra GTR, Aerox gets a 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine with VVA technology and fuel-injection system that makes 14.75 bhp at 8,000rpm and 13.9 Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm.     Rivian R1S, R1T EVs with Long-Range 400+-Mile Battery Delayed to 2023

The news was revealed in an email sent to customers by the company’s founder and chief executive officer, RJ Scaringe. The email was subsequently posted to Reddit, and a Rivian spokesperson confirmed its authenticity to Car and Driver. In it, Scaringe says the automaker will prioritize the production of R1T and R1S models fitted with the 135.0-kWh Large battery pack and the Adventure package. The Large battery pack offers up to 314 miles of EPA-rated driving range in the R1T and 316 miles in the R1S. Those figures fall a good deal short of the 400-plus miles of range the Rivian claims the $10,000 Max battery pack will provide for either Rivian vehicle.

    Opting for the Explore package slashes $5500 from the price of the R1T and R1S. Whereas the Adventure package includes niceties such as a Meridian premium audio system, wood interior trim, heated and ventilated seats, and a power-operated tonneau cover for the R1T, the Explore package features a lesser audio setup, matte black interior decor, heated but not ventilated seats, and a manually operated tonneau cover for the R1T.

    Despite the additional range of the Max battery pack and the cost savings associated with the Explore package, Scaringe notes in his email that the “large majority” of Rivian buyers are opting for R1T and R1S trucks and SUVs with the Large battery pack and the Adventure package anyway, adding that R1T and R1S trucks and SUVs optioned with the Max battery pack make up “approximately 20 [percent] of preorders.” The Rivian CEO goes on to acknowledge the “challenging” aspects of the company’s shifting production schedule for its customers by writing that representatives are planning to reach out to those with preorders for R1T and R1S vehicles with either the Max pack or Explore package. The company wants to “gauge [their] interest in reconfiguring to an Adventure Package with Large pack battery so that [they] can take delivery in 2022,” he wrote.

    After commencing delivery of its scooters earlier this month, Ola Electric has started working on expansion of its charging network. When fully completed, it will be a dense network comprising more than 100,000 charging points. It will be the largest of its kind 2-wheeler charging network in the country. There are plans to cover 400 cities across the country.

    The first set of charging stations are expected to become operational in the next 6-8 weeks. By end of next year, Ola Electric has set a target of 4,000 charging stations. In the initial phase, much of these charging stations will be installed at Bharat Petroleum fuel stations and residential complexes.
    The choice of location of charging stations seems perfect, as it will play a key role in motivating people to make the switch to electric. As of now, there’s significant resistance to electric two-wheelers. One key reason is range anxiety, as people are not sure about easy availability of charging stations. When people see Ola charging stations at fuel pumps and residential complexes, it will give them more confidence to switch to electric.
    In future, Ola charging stations could be made available at other public places, offices and commercial centres. Ola also has plans to setup Hypercharger towers that can accommodate several EVs simultaneously. These are likely to come up at specific business districts and city centres.

    Free charging for 6 months
    To make it more attractive for existing users and potential customers, Ola is offering free charging at its charging points till June 2022. This will create significant savings for Ola electric scooter users. It will also motivate Ola scooter users to use the hypercharger network instead of charging their scooter at home.
    A key benefit available with using Ola’s hypercharger network is that it has fast charging. On S1, 75 km can be loaded in just around 18 minutes. In comparison, achieving the same with a home charger will take much more time. Ola scooters have a portable home charger that can be easily plugged into any standard 5 Amp socket.
    Ola Electric currently offers the S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters. While Ola S1 ARAI range is at 121 km on full charge, S1 Pro has range of 181 km. The latter has a dual-battery setup. S1 Pro has higher top speed of 115 kmph, as compared to 90 kmph of S1. It also has faster acceleration with 0-40 kmph achieved in 3 seconds. S1 takes 3.6 seconds. S1 is offered with ride modes of Normal and Sport whereas S1 Pro has an additional Hyper mode.
    Prices start at Rs 99,999 and Rs 1,29,999, respectively. Prices may vary based on the level of subsidy offered by respective state governments. Ola scooters are currently the cheapest in states like Gujarat, Delhi, Rajasthan and Maharastra.
