    Even as Ola Electric has commenced deliveries since December last year, not all customers seem to be happy. In the latest development, S1 buyers have been informed that S1 manufacturing has been shifted to late 2022. In its communication, Ola Electric has said that it will be prioritizing production of S1 Pro, as the vast majority of customers have opted for the top-spec variant.
    Options for S1 buyers
    With priority being given to S1 Pro, people who have booked base-spec S1 can choose the upgrade option. This can be done when the final payment window opens on Ola app on January 21 at 6 PM.
    Dispatches will continue throughout January and February. Customers may have to wait 10-20 days post-dispatch to get home delivery of their scooter. It will depend on customer’s location and RTO requirements in a particular city.
    For S1 customers who do not wish to upgrade, they have the option to wait till production resumes for that variant. It means waiting time of around 9-11 months. Customers will be notified as soon as production resumes for S1. They can then make the final payment. The third option for S1 buyers is that they can cancel the booking. This can be done on Ola app or by contacting their customer support team.

    Many S1 customers have shared their feedback on social channels. They are apparently miffed and are calling it a biased approach by the company. Things would have been different if production was delayed for all variants. But when priority is being given to a particular variant over other, it is naturally being opposed by buyers.
    Some customers are also saying that they are essentially being forced to upgrade to S1 Pro. This may not be possible for everyone, as it requires an additional payment of around Rs 30k.
    It remains to be seen how Ola Electric responds to such complaints. Many times in the past, businesses had to change their decisions based on consumer feedback.

    S1 vs. S1 Pro
    While S1 can suffice for everyday needs, S1 Pro buyers get several additional benefits. For example, while S1 has ride modes of Normal and Sport, S1 Pro gets an additional Hyper ride mode. In Hyper mode, top speed of the scooter is 115 kmph. This may not be fully utilized in city conditions, but it can still come handy during overtaking. S1 top speed is 90 kmph.
    S1 Pro has faster acceleration as well, with 0-40 kmph achieved in 3 seconds. In comparison, S1 takes 3.6 seconds. Most useful benefit of S1 Pro is that it offers a higher range of 181 km. In comparison, S1 has range of 121 km. It is to note that true range can vary based on various factors.     We’ll grant that the Camry nameplate dates back only to 1983, when Toyota retired the Corona moniker and switched the car from rear- to front-wheel drive. The Corona, though, was the progenitor. Launched in 1965, it was the first Toyota designed for the U.S. market and had such necessities as an automatic transmission and air conditioning. It was offered as a sedan or a hardtop coupe. Selling alongside the Land Cruiser, the Corona helped Toyota triple its U.S. sales to 20,000 units in 1966.

    This 1966 model is powered by a 1.9-liter four-cylinder paired with a column-shifted two-speed Toyoglide transmission. The bench seats, chrome wheel covers, and horizontal-band speedometer give it the vibe of a shrunken American sedan. It’s said to have been found in a barn near Seminole, Oklahoma, not far from where it was sold new in Tulsa.     2022 Ford Ranger's New Splash Edition Colors Revealed

    Ford has announced new colors for the 2022 Ranger’s Splash Limited Edition packages.Joining the previously announced Snow Edition are the Forest Edition and the Sand Edition.As with the regular orange-and-black Splash package, the limited-edition colors cost $1495.Last year, Ford announced the revival of the Ranger’s retro-inspired Splash package and said a select number of 2022 models would also be available in other unique colors that would be announced every few months. At the time, the first of these one-time-only Splash Limited Edition colors to be revealed was the Snow Edition. Now, Ford has released additional images and further details about the new Forest Edition and Sand Edition.

    The Snow Edition’s exclusive paint color is called Avalanche—because snow, get it?—and along with covering most of the mid-size truck’s bodywork it also tints the grille nostrils. Inside, the Lariat trim level brings black leather upholstery with Ash Gray contrast stitching that’s offset by carbon-fiber-esque stripes on the seats. Ford says it plans to offer around 750 Snow Editions, with availability expected to start this spring.

    As its name implies, the 2022 Ford Ranger Sand Edition is the color of beaches, dunes, and deserts. In fact, the paint color is literally called Desert Sand. Unlike the Snow Edition, its grille nostrils are painted red, which provides a nice pop of color to the otherwise understated hue. It’s mostly the same inside, except the XLT trim level means the leather is replaced by black cloth. Still, the contrast stitching and carbon-fiber-like design elements remain. Ford is reserving fewer Rangers with the Sand Edition, as it says only about 500 copies will be offered when orders open this summer.

    The Forest Edition is our favorite of these new special editions. Wearing a gorgeous shade called Forged Green, we think it gives the truck its most rich and rugged appearance. It also pairs nicely with the 18-inch black wheels and red grille nostrils. The XLT trim level again includes black cloth upholstery with the aforementioned interior accents. The Forest Edition will see a limited run of approximately 500 examples when it becomes available this summer.All three of the Splash Limited Editions will cost an extra $1495. That’s the same price as the regular Splash appearance package, which features orange paint, black body-side graphics, and unique interior appointments. Unlike the Limited Editions, the orange Splash package will be available throughout the 2022 model year on both XLT and Lariat models.

    Ola Electric has been facing quite a few teething troubles including delay in deliveries. Only 275 units were delivered till December 2021. Ola Electric had said that while most scooters have reached delivery centres, there could be some that are in transit. Some could also be undergoing RTO registration process.

    To avoid any further delays in deliveries, Ola Electric has boosted production to almost 1,000 units per day. Ola’s CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has shared a new video that shows hundreds of Ola Electric scooters lined up at the company’s manufacturing facility.
    For all customers who have paid 20k, the final payment window will open on January 21. For these customers, dispatches will continue throughout January and February.
    Next purchase window soon
    Ola Electric will also be opening next advance payment window soon. However, an exact timeline has not been provided. Like earlier, this advance payment will be for Rs 20k. People who had reserved their scooter will be notified via email, SMS and Ola app. In case of new customers, they can reserve their Ola scooter online by paying Rs 499. They will get preference when the next advance payment window opens.

    Total number of people waiting to get deliveries of their S1 and S1 Pro scooter must be pretty high. As may be recalled, the company had claimed sales worth Rs 1,100 crore when bookings were opened last year in September. These bookings were received in a limited purchase window of only two days.
    If the numbers are true, Ola Electric could be sitting on orders of more than 1 lakh units. However, not all of these pre-bookings can be expected to be converted into sales. It is possible that some customers may opt out. This is especially true in the present situation where deliveries have been delayed. Earlier, deliveries were planned to commence from October 2021. It was later shifted to December 2021.
    New products planned
    Ola Electric is reportedly working to expand its portfolio to provide more options to customers. One of the new products will be a more affordable electric scooter that will be positioned as an entry-level model. As of now, S1 and S1 Pro are offered at starting price of Rs 99,999 and Rs 1,29,999, respectively. Effective on-road price will vary based on subsidies provided by respective state governments.
    Ola entry-level scooter could be named Ola Series S. This name has already been registered. It could have a range of around 100 km and top speed of up to 80 kmph. Price could be in the range of Rs 70k to Rs 80k.
    It will have better competencies against other entry-level electric scooters such as those manufactured by Hero Electric, Ampere, etc. In terms of price, Ola Electric new scooter can also emerge as a viable option for users looking to upgrade from popular scooters such as Honda Activa and TVS Jupiter.     CYBORG Electric Motorcycle Bob-e Debuts – 110 KM Range, Swappable Battery

    Homegrown startup Ignitron Motocorp has unveiled its second ‘Made in India’ electric motorbike named Bob-e under CYBORG brand. It will primarily target youngsters, who may favour a balanced approach in terms of style and environmental conservation. Last year in December, the company had unveiled Cyborg Yoda electric cruiser motorcycle.

    Cyborg Bob-e derives design inspiration from dirt motorbikes. It has a compact, sporty profile with features such as low-set handlebar, sleek LED headlamp and DRL, raised front fender, trendy LED turn signals, single-piece seat and elevated tail section.
    On the side, the bike has sculpted fairing that enhances its overall look and feel. Initially, the bike will be available in two colour options of Red and Black. In terms of features, Cyborg Bob-e is equipped with a IP65-rated LED display. A number of advanced features are on offer such as geo locate, geo fencing, USB charging, Bluetooth connectivity, and remote keyless ignition.
    Other key features include reverse mode and cruise control. Cyborg Bob-e also has regenerative braking, which can help boost overall range. Regenerative braking works by converting kinetic energy into electrical energy, which is then used to recharge the battery.

    Bob-e electric motorbike is equipped with a 2.88 kWH Lithium-ion battery that connects to a BLDC hub motor. This is slightly lower than Cyborg Yoda that has a 3.24 kWh battery pack. Bob-e has a top speed of 85 kmph and range of 110 km. In comparison, the Yoda electric cruiser has a top speed of 90 kmph and range of 150 km. Max power output is 8.5 KW and there are three ride modes of Eco, Normal and Sport.
    Batteries used with Cyborg motorcycles are swappable units. Bob-e battery charging time from 0-80% is 3 hours. A Full charge requires 4-5 hours. The bike will come with a 15 Amp home fast charger.
    Suspension system on-board Bob-e motorbike comprises standard telescopic forks at front and fully-adjustable monoshock at rear. The bike has disc brakes at front, integrated with CBS (combined braking system). Wheelbase and ground clearance is 1240 mm and 260 mm, respectively.

    Sales and service network
    The company is working to build a nationwide network of sales and service centres. Plan is to cover most parts in northern, southern and western India. The network will comprise distributors as well as service centres.
    For convenience of customers, Ignitron is partnering with roadside assistance service providers. Battery swapping stations and pay as you go Cyborg stations are also being set-up. Cyborg stations are planned to be set up every 1 kilometre.
    An opportunity will be provided to vendors to set up Cyborg charging stations. These will have fast charging units that can provide 50% charge in 30 minutes. Payment to vendors will be credited online along with service charges and premium fee. Such incentives will be crucial in helping expand the charging network. More

    Subaru E-RA EV Concept Revealed, Will Attempt Nürburgring Lap Record

    Subaru unveiled the STI E-RA concept at the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon. It produces 1073 horsepower and features torque-vectoring all-wheel drive.The Solterra STI concept previews a potential sporty variant of Subaru’s electric crossover, adding a rear wing and a red-accented front splitter. Subaru also showed a WRX and a BRZ with STI performance parts such as a carbon-fiber rear wing.Subaru brought two electric concept cars to the 2022 Tokyo Auto Salon, and both are the product of the Japanese brand’s Subaru Tecnica International motorsport subsidiary. The STI E-RA concept is an electric race car that STI will use to attempt a Nürburgring lap record, while the Solterra STI concept shows what a high-performance variant of Subaru’s electric crossover could look like.

    The STI E-RA is a low-slung, bewinged track car with 1073 horsepower pumping out of four electric motors, one at each wheel. This allows the E-RA to have a torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system, and the motors feed off a 60.0-kWh lithium-ion battery. The all-wheel-drive setup has been built in accordance with the FIA’s E-GT motorsport regulations which will form the basis of an electric sports car racing championship starting in 2023. Subaru also says that starting in 2023, the STI E-RA will attempt to set a six-minute, 40-second lap around the Nürburgring track in Germany.

    With the Solterra STI concept, Subaru gave its new electric crossover a performance makeover. The STI concept includes a roof-mounted spoiler and a red front splitter. Red accents also pop up on the side skirts, rear bumper, and one spoke of the five-spoke wheels. Subaru didn’t mention any technical details for the Solterra STI. Given that Toyota also revealed a performance version of the Solterra’s sister car, the Toyota bZ4X, production versions of both could be possible.

    Along with the two EVs, Subaru showed off two gas-powered models, the new WRX and BRZ, modified with STI performance parts. The WRX S4 STI performance concept gains a carbon-fiber rear wing and a red front splitter and side skirts, potentially previewing what the WRX STI will look like when arrives in the near future. The BRZ STI performance also comes with a high-rise rear wing and a more aggressive front splitter, although it is unlikely that Subaru will build a full-fledged STI version of the BRZ.

    2022 Lexus LX600 Pricing Ranges from $88,245 to $127,345

    Lexus has announced pricing for the new 2022 LX600, starting at $88,245.The lineup includes base, Premium, F Sport, Luxury, and Ultra Luxury trim levels.The Ultra Luxury trim has a special four-seat interior layout with lots of rear-seat amenities.Given that the 2022 Lexus LX600 is the only version of the Toyota Land Cruiser that Americans can buy now, it’s a good thing that its price isn’t too much higher than the old Land Cruiser’s. The LX600 starts at $88,245, which is just $1215 more than the 2021 Land Cruiser’s base price (and $405 less than the 2021 LX570). The wide range of LX models available includes Premium and Luxury trim levels, along with an F Sport model and a flagship Ultra Luxury trim that features a plush four-seat setup.

    The base LX600 comes with two rows of seats, providing five-passenger capacity, while the $96,345 LX600 Premium adds a third row of seats and holds seven people. The F Sport starts at $102,345 and features a different front grille, 22-inch wheels, a limited-slip differential, adaptive dampers, and special bits of interior trim. The Luxury model is $104,345 and includes mostly interior upgrades including nicer leather and an upgraded audio system.And finally, the $127,345 Ultra Luxury costs significantly more owing to its decked-out cabin. It swaps out the seven-seat, three-row setup for a pair of rear captain’s chairs that have massage and a recliner function for the passenger-side seat with a sliding ottoman.
