    Porsche’s Rennsport Reunion Returns in 2023

    The seventh edition of the massive celebration of all things Porsche will return next year following the longest hiatus of the event’s 22-year history.Porsche isn’t yet saying where or when it will be held, other than that it will take place next year. Previous Rennsport Reunions have been held at Lime Rock Park, Daytona International Speedway, and Laguna Seca.The last Rennsport took place in 2018 and attracted 80,000 fans and 2500 vehicles, including the 356 Speedster, RS Spyder, 959 Dakar, and 919 hybrid.If you’ve been awaiting signs that things are slightly returning to normal, look no further than Porsche’s Rennsport Reunion VII, which will take place somewhere at some point in 2023. That’s all the information Porsche is announcing at the moment, but now we know the longest pause in Rennsport Reunion history is coming to an end.

    The idea of race car driver Brian Redman and a Porsche Cars North America spokesperson, Bob Carlson, the first Rennsport Reunion was held at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut in 2001. Since then it has been held every three to four years at Daytona International Speedway in Florida (2004 and 2007) and then at Laguna Seca in California (2011, 2015, and 2018). The last Rennsport Reunion drew a crowd of more than 80,000 fans and 2500 vehicles.”We’re all excited to be able to announce the return of the Rennsport Reunion, which is always a highlight of Porsche motorsports enthusiasm and heritage,” Kjell Gruner, president and CEO of Porsche Cars North America, said in a statement. “Rennsport Reunion has grown quickly over the years into a truly one-of-a-kind experience of sight, sound, and emotions.     Porsche said it will announce the theme, date, and location of Rennsport Reunion VII “soon.” Given that Porsche does not mention Laguna Seca at all, we wouldn’t be surprised if it will be held somewhere else. The Porsche-related blog Flatsixes notes that Porsche has been in discussion with the owners of that track to make important upgrades, like a new bridge over the track at the start-finish line.Some of the vehicles that showed up at the 2018 event included the 356 Speedster, RS Spyder, 959 Dakar, and 919 Hybrid. The theme that year was “Champions,” and Porsche didn’t forget to mention that, “with over 30,000 race wins, the sports-car manufacturer from Weissach is by far the most successful brand in motorsports worldwide.”

    Hot Wheels Legends Tour Winner Is Smokin' 1969 Volvo P1800 Gasser

    Hot Wheels has unveiled a 1:64-scale die-cast of the 2021 Hot Wheels Legends Tour-winning 1969 Volvo P1800 Gasser, built by Lee Johnstone of the United Kingdom. The model debuted at Classic Car Club Manhattan earlier this week, on the eve of the annual New York auto show.Johnstone, 71, is a motor mechanic by trade and was the first international Legends Tour winner. His P1800 Gasser emerged victorious from a 25-stop international Hot Wheels Legends Tour spanning five continents. He and his daughter, Victoria Upham, were on hand for the global unveiling and were truly astonished at the treatment given by Hot Wheels to their family passion project.
    The Gasser, monikered Ain’t No Saint, was officially inducted into the Hot Wheels Garage of Legends, a collection of the brand’s most iconic and celebrated designs existing both in 1:64 and life-size scale that was also on display at the clubhouse on Manhattan’s West Side. Ain’t No Saint joins previous champions including the inaugural 2018-winning 2JetZ from New Jersey (whose owner, Luis Rodriguez, drove the street-legal jet-powered vehicle straight through the Lincoln Tunnel to CCCM), the 2019 winner, THE NASH, and the 2020-winning 1970 Pontiac Firebird as the next permanent fixture in Hot Wheels history.

    In addition to the legendary cars that have been turned into Hot Wheels Legends die-casts, the epic Hudson River-fronted venue was decorated to showcase examples of how Hot Wheels has influenced popular culture far beyond cars and toys. A replica Gucci-owned custom Cadillac Seville and a Super73 Hot Wheels-branded e-bike to an IWC watch and a working RC car of the Tesla Pickup that apparently does 30 mph were all on display.
    Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the unveiling event was a presentation by members of the Hot Wheels design team. The designers walked attendees through the entire 18-month process of bringing an idea to a blister pack on a shelf.

Beginning with CAD scanning, the Hot Wheels team digitizes every aspect of every vehicle, before additional rounds of 3-D modeling and printing help designers determine the vehicle’s final shape.Once approved, the final design must also undergo a rigorous series of Hot Wheels track tests to ensure it performs as well on those iconic orange tracks as it looks. The Chinese bike maker currently retails four motorcycles in our country namely 650GT, 650MT, 650NK and 300NK. With an aim to dominate in the global market, they have now unveiled an all new 450cc motorcycle.Last year, CFMoto unveiled the outlandish SR-C21 Concept prototype at the 2021 EICMA. The concept has now taken the form of a supersport bike named 450SR in its production guise. The bike will initially be on sale in the Chinese market only with a sticker price equivalent to Rs 3.82 lakh. At first glance, you realise that CFMoto has borrowed most of the styling of 450SR from its prototype concept predecessor.New CFMoto 450cc 450SR – DesignThat said, CFMoto has deliberately dialled down things a bit as far as overall styling is concerned. For instance, to make it more production friendly, 450SR gets a pair of larger twin LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs that have been retained from the concept. The front fascia looks sharp and aggressive enough despite toning down its appeal.It flaunts a muscular profile featuring edgy side panels and sleek winglets. Unlike the radical-looking under-seat twin exhaust setup presented on the concept, 450SR gets a fairly simple single-sided upswept exhaust. It also misses out on a single-sided swingarm as shown in the concept and makes do with a traditional setup. Other visual highlights include split seats, a visor upfront and mirror-mounted LED turn indicators.New CFMoto 450ccHardware SetupThe Chinese brand has made use of cheaper cycle parts in order to make it more affordable. The Ohlins-sourced suspension setup shown in the pre-production concept has not been employed. Instead, CFMoto has made use of standard upside-down forks up front and a mono-shock accompanied by a dual-sided swingarm.Braking duties are handled by a single 320mm disc at front and 220mm at rear with M4.32 callipers sourced from Brembo and ABS from Bosch. The braking hardware is complemented by a dual-channel ABS. 450SR is also packed with some nifty features like a TFT instrument console and adjustable seat height.Powertrain SpecsPowering 450SR is a new 449cc parallel, liquid-cooled engine that dishes out 50 bhp and 39Nm of peak torque. This power mill with a 270-degree crankshaft is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The company claims a top speed of 190kmph on the new supersport bike. With a kerb weight of 168kg, 450SR gets one of the best power-to-weight ratios in its category.Initially, 450SR will go on sale in China only and may reach other international markets only after a while. It has a fuel tank capacity of only 4.2 litres.Yamaha has priced Fluo at 13,390 Brazilian Reals (approx. INR 2,16,587), translating to about 94,642 Baht, which makes it about 43,400 Baht more expensive than its Indonesian sibling.     Top 20 Two Wheeler Exports Feb 2022 – Pulsar, Apache, Splendor, Raider

    Two wheeler exports increased on a YoY basis by 2.68 percent with the Bajaj Boxer in the lead by a significant marginTVS ApacheTwo wheeler exports have risen significantly in March 2022. Total exports in this segment stood at 3,74,051 units, up 2.68 percent over 3,64,294 units relating to a 9,757 volume increase. It was the Bajaj Boxer that not only stood at a No. 1 spot but scaled over every other two wheeler by a substantial margin. No other two wheeler, other than the Bajaj Boxer, could amass exports above the 1 lakh unit mark.Leading the export sales charts in February 2022 was Bajaj Boxer with exports of 1,10,084 units, down 0.57 percent or 632 units as against 1,10,716 units exported in February 2021. Bajaj Boxer commanded a market share of 29.43 percent. Of the Boxer exports in the month of February 2022, it was its 110cc model that received the most demand. 94,740 units were shipped in February 2022, up 4.21 percent over 90,912 units exported in February 2021. Boxer 125cc shipments stood at 3,200 units, 28.21 percent increase from 2,496 units exported in February 2021.Two Wheeler Exports Feb 2022 – Pulsar, ApacheAt No. 2 was the TVS Star City with exports of 67,295 units, up 10.97 percent from 60,641 units shipped in February 2021. This was an increase of 6,654 units. In March 2022, the company introduced the Star City Plus. It comes in with TVS’ ET-Fi tech which the automaker states accounts for 15 percent better fuel efficiency.Bajaj Auto once again entered the fray with the Pulsar at No. 3 on the export list. Total exports in February 2022 stood at 26,143 units, down 15.29 percent or 4,720 units less as compared to 30,863 units shipped in February 2021. The Pulsar commands a 6.99 percent share. Bajaj also had the CT and Discover on this list at Nos. 4 and 5 with both bikes posting a YoY growth. CT exports stood at 17,504 units, up 27.32 percent over 13,748 units sold in February 2021. This was a 3,756 unit volume growth while the CT commands a 4.68 percent share. Discover exports on the other hand increased 35.93 percent to 14,708 units in February 2022. This was against 10,820 units shipped in February 2021 relating to a 3,888 unit volume growth.Two Wheeler Exports Feb 2022TVS Apache, Yamaha FZ, Hero HunkTVS Apache, Yamaha FZ and Hero Hunk also featured higher up on the export list in February 2022. TVS Apache saw its exports dip 31.09 percent on a YoY basis to 10,296 units, down from 14,942 units shipped in February 2021. The Apache commands a 2.75 percent share.Yamaha noted a 6.07 percent increase in exports of the FZ. Shipments that had stood at 9,560 units in February 2021 increased to 10,140 units in February 2022. Hero Hunk exports also increased substantially by 386.02 percent to 9,458 units in February 2022 over 1,946 unit exports in February 2021. Honda Navi exports saw a 21.40 percent YoY increase to 7,767 units from 6,398 units sold in February 2021.The export list for February 2022 continued with the Hero Splendor at No. 10 with exports up 15.88 percent YoY to 7,684 units from 6,631 units shipped in February 2021. Dream exports fell 7.78 percent to 3,128 units while Dominar 400 and Gixxer 250 recorded 166.07 percent and 22.09 percent YoY growth to 2,815 units and 2,808 units respectively.Suzuki Access scooter has seen the most growth in exports in February 2022 to 458 units, up 4,480 percent from just 10 units shipped in February 2021.     Royal Enfield Shotgun 650cc Bobber Spied – New LED Headlight

    Royal Enfield has plans to introduce multiple new 650cc motorcycles including Shotgun, Super Meteor 650 and a cruiser bikeUpcoming Royal Enfield 650cc Bobber SG650With 650 twins registering strong sales in domestic as well as international markets, Royal Enfield will be aiming to further strengthen its presence in this space. Towards that end, at least three new 650cc motorcycles will be launched. One of these is Shotgun 650 that was unveiled as SG650 concept at 2021 EICMA. New 650cc bikes will also help Royal Enfield to manage threats from rivals such as the upcoming BSA Gold Star 650.Shotgun 650 has been spotted on road tests in India as well as abroad. The test mules have been seen with varying features till now, making it difficult to get a proper feel of its design. The latest test mule spotted overseas is different in that it appears to be in production-ready form.Royal Enfield 650cc LED HeadlightIt has the full uniform and is without any camouflage, indicating that the bike is almost ready to enter production. The test mule can be seen with a top box and connected wires, which reveals the possibility of range testing. Shotgun 650 is likely to be launched in early 2023. Royal Enfield could also introduce the Super Meteor 650 at the same time.While production-ready Shotgun 650 looks familiar to SG650 Concept, it has toned-down features and appears more practical. The bike continues using Royal Enfield’s signature retro features such as round headlamp and rear view mirrors, teardrop shaped fuel tank and wide rear mudguard. While the headlight will be LED, blinkers will have halogen bulbs.Upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc Bobber SG650Side profile comprises largely the engine and utility boxes. The test mule can be seen with inconspicuous looking exhaust. It is possible that this may be different as compared to that of the production variant. At the rear, Shotgun 650 has the signature round tail lamp.In terms of user comfort, the bike offers an upright riding stance. Pulled back handlebar and centrally placed footpegs will ensure optimal comfort on long journeys. Low-set, scooped out single piece saddle can be expected to boost comfort levels as well as ensure adequate balance and control.Shotgun 650 engine and specsPowering Shotgun 650 will be the same 648cc parallel-twin air cooled motor that does duty on Interceptor and Continental GT. It churns out 47 hp of max power and 52 Nm of peak torque. It is coupled with a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox. It is possible that power and torque output may be tweaked slightly in line with the bike’s profile.Shotgun 650 has USD forks at front and dual rear shock absorbers. It has disc brakes at both ends, integrated with dual-channel ABS as standard. Speedometer appears the same as currently used with other Royal Enfield bikes. There’s a larger primary display on the left that shows standard info such as speedometer, fuel level and odometer. On the right, the smaller display is likely to be the tripper navigation system.Source More

    This reminds me of a story. And its sonorous 188 horsepower of turbocharged and intercooled V-6 bombast—experienced top down, and surrounded by enough pleated caramel leather to supply a Donna Karan factory, during one of the few sunny Michigan spring days—is etched in my mind as firmly as the antagonistic slogans scrawled in Wite-Out on my combat boots.People bemoan these cars’ unreliability and finicky tune, but many of these problems were resolved by the incorporation of fuel injection in ’87 (this one has it), and most others, in enduring cars, have been shaken out.

    This one, from the collection of a Maserati dealership owner, has been thoroughly gone through to prep it for daily-driver duty. And with small-diameter steelie-look factory alloys, a rebuilt dogleg five-speed manual, raised-white-letter BFGoodrich Radial T/As, and just 41,000 miles, it also seems like an ideal time machine. With concours-condition models going for just $15,000, it’s also likely to be a steal. I’m going to have to try to restrain myself from bidding.
