Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Spied Again – New Details Revealed

Ever since the Royal Enfield Himalayan was launched back in 2016, it has become the de facto adventure bike for touring aficionadosNew Royal Enfield Himalayan 450Though the initial lot of the motorcycles was beset with myriad of issues, which have been resolved over the years. It even got a minor update last year, and now the bike is almost sorted. What it still lacks is top-end grunt needed to make brisk progress on highways. To address this shortcoming, a new Himalayan with a more potent engine is in the works. The new bike, rumoured to be called Himalayan 450 , will have a 450 cc liquid-cooled engine compared to the present one’s 411 cc air and oil-cooled. This new motor is expected to churn out more power and torque, around 40 bhp and 45 Nm, compared to the present Himalayan’s 24 bhp and 32 Nm.Not only will these figures endow the Himalayan 450, with higher highway speeds thanks also to a new 6-speed transmission. The enhanced torque will help the bike tackle tough mountain passes high up in the Himalayas more easily.New Himalayan 450 to be feature-richUpcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has now been spied again. Latest spy shots are credit to Akshai (the_nakedwolf). Hat tip to automotive enthusiast Bhart Vyas for sharing the update. Apart from a more powerful engine, the Himalayan 450 will also get the latest features sported by other bikes in this segment like ride-by-wire throttle and riding modes like road, off-road and rain.New Royal Enfield Himalayan 450There will be no need to manually switch off ABS at the rear like it is on the Himalayan 411 while going off road. Select the off-road mode and the rear ABS switches off automatically. Another touring-friendly feature on the Himalayan 450 will be the large 20 litre fuel tank, which is 5 litres more than that on the existing Himalayan. The instrument cluster will be vertical, similar to the one seen on the Yezdi Adventure and it would be modern with a full digital TFT cluster displaying comprehensive information though it is yet not clear whether it will be a colour display. On the looks front, the Himalayan 450 will be bigger than the present in every aspect one and come fitted with bigger upside-down forks at the front, which would make for better handling characteristics. The bike is expected to have a 21-inch wheel at the front and a 17 incher at the back but the tyres will be designed to perform equally well on tarmac as well as the rough unlike the Himalayan 411 on which the tyres are more road biased. The Himalayan 450 will have a strengthened frame which would enhance its load carrying capacity and this will allow carriage of more luggage and other stuff like fuel packs etc.New Royal Enfield Himalayan 450For increasing comfort while riding in cold, the bike will come with heated grips as an option along with variety of handguards, handlebars etc which are part of a pretty long list of options to be made available by Royal Enfield.Himalayan 450 RaidRoyal Enfield is also simultaneously working on a more potent version of the Himalayan 450 called the Himalayan 450 Raid. This bike as the name suggests will be earmarked for serious off-road events like the Dakar Rally. Himalayan 450 Raid will have enhanced power output, ruggedized suspension, tubed spoke wheels among other features which would it at home in the gruelling Dakar Rally. However, the launch of this version is some time away, expected in 2025-26.New Royal Enfield Himalayan 450The present Himalayan 411 could have reached the end of its evolution cycle and may be retired when the Himalayan 450 is launched. Though price of the Himalayan 450 will be known near its launch, it can be expected to be priced about Rs 30-50k more than Himalayan 411. In this range, it will be a serious contender for the likes of KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G 310 GS. More

This Ford Bronco Has Been Stuck on a Sandbar for Days

This content is imported from YouTube. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

The Ford Bronco is one of the most capable and desirable off-roaders on sale today. As such, we’ve all gotten to watch videos of these SUVs pulling off some incredible feats on the trails. That said, one Bronco driver out in Bar Harbor, Maine, learned the limits of their new 4×4 the hard way when it became lodged on a sandbar over the weekend. Unfortunately for them, that ill-advised parking spot has seen the truck drowned in several feet of deep Atlantic water. According to WDEA, the Bronco became stuck on the sandbar this past Saturday afternoon. The driver was reportedly doing donuts with the 4×4 before becoming unable to free themself. While simply getting stuck on a beach might not always be the worst case scenario, this particular owner seems to have missed the nearby warning signs that point out the dangerously high tides in the area. Perhaps that lack of local knowledge can be explained by the truck’s New Jersey plates. Either way, things became very expensive shortly thereafter.

Regardless of how it was placed there, the Bronco could not be extricated before the deeper water returned from the sea. The incoming tides drowned the 4×4 up to the base of the windshield, which had to be an awful sight for the owner. The Bronco might be able to survive fording through 33.5-inches of water, but there isn’t a chance it will survive this ordeal. Attempts were once again made to rescue the SUV on Easter morning, though you can watch how that ended in the video. It can be hard not to feel invincible when you’re behind the wheel of something like the Bronco. With the capability on offer from a modern 4×4, it isn’t hard for an inexperienced owner to get a bit overconfident. Hopefully the owner of this particular Bronco doesn’t have to wait terribly long for a replacement.

Ram's Rebel OTG Concept May Inspire the Next 1500 Mopar Special Edition

Stellantis (previously Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) recently patented imagery for a Ram 1500 Rebel with off-road bits seemingly cribbed from the OTG concept. The Ram 1500 Rebel OTG (Off the Grid) concept was originally built for the 2019 SEMA show. The concept included a host of overlanding-related accessory items. The Ram 1500 Rebel OTG (for “Off the Grid”) concept may see the light of day if a patent filed by Stellantis (previously Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is anything to go by. Images attached to the document show what looks like a Ram 1500 Rebel wearing many of the Mopar-sourced accessories the brand affixed to the Rebel OTG it built for the 2019 SEMA show.

While the vehicle in the patent images seems to forgo the likes of the OTG’s Yakima bed rack, rooftop tent, collapsible awning, and bed-mounted slide-out kitchen, it does appear to sport the concept truck’s snorkel intake, rear bumper with integrated LED lights, and bespoke grille and steel front bumper, replete with provisions for a winch and driving lights.
Whether this patent signals a new addition to the Ram 1500 model line, a special Mopar trim, or nothing at all is a bit of a mystery. We reached out to Ram to learn more about this patent, but a company spokesperson would not comment on the matter. That said, if we were the gambling type, we’d wager Ram plans to use the OTG concept as the template for its next limited-run Mopar model, a special variant of the vehicle the brand is prone to occasionally building and selling.
As its name implies, the Mopar special edition truck includes a number of Mopar-brand accessory items. These special Ram models are more than just trucks with the gamut of items in the accessory catalog attached to them, as Mopar curates the pickups to create vehicles that stand out from their stablemates. If this patent previews an OTG-inspired Ram 1500 Rebel Mopar model, then expect the concept truck’s 10,000-pound Warn winch (pulled from the Ram 2500 Power Wagon), LED driving lights, 2.0-inch lift, beadlock-capable wheels, and 35-inch Goodyear off-road tires to accompany the aforementioned updates to the truck’s front and rear bumpers, grille, and snorkel. Then again, it’s possible we’re getting ahead of ourselves and the Ram 1500 Rebel OTG concept remains the closest thing to a real-life version of the truck pictured in this patent.

1965 Ford Ranchero Deluxe Is Our Bring a Trailer Auction Pick of the Day

    • This 1965 Ford Ranchero Deluxe, powered by a 289-cubic-inch V-8 and featuring three pedals, is currently up for auction on Bring a Trailer.• Showing just shy of 35,000 miles and with a mostly rust-free body, it may be almost 60 years old but still looks young at heart.• Bidding is open until Wednesday, April 20, with the current bid sitting at $17,750 as of Monday. What do a mullet and the Ford Ranchero have in common? The “business in the front, party in the back” aesthetic, of course. There are other lines of comparison to draw, primarily the occasional resurgence of the two oddball styles in their respective fields. Even now, with the introduction of vehicles like the Hyundai Santa Cruz, the spirit of the ute lives on, but that look may not exactly scratch the same itch as in years past. However, if turbochargers or unconventional gearboxes don’t tickle your fancy, and you aren’t held back by the lack of creature comforts like power windows and air conditioning, the founding father of the segment, the Ford Ranchero, has you covered. And if you want to go there, this 1965 Ranchero Deluxe model is currently up for sale on Bring a Trailer—which, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos—in an auction ending on Wednesday, April 20.

    Bring a Trailer

Starting production in the 1957 model year, the Ranchero was born from a platform dedicated to sedans and wagons. Start with a wagon, take a little off the top, and you’ve got yourself a ute. That’s another hair-related joke, but it’s not that far off from Ford’s process for the first Ranchero. While the introductory model was essentially a chopped-up version of Ford’s full-size Ranch Wagon, the second iteration, starting with the 1960 model year, was based on Ford’s new Falcon compact sedan. The Ranchero was even marketed as the Falcon Ranchero during this time, sharing bits including the owner’s manual and floor mats with its sedan counterpart. The Ranchero ended production in 1979, leading into the company’s shift to a more rugged truck package in the Courier and Ranger small pickups.

    Bring a Trailer

This particular Ranchero, a low-mile example owned by the seller since 2014, appears in mostly excellent condition, with only a few areas of imperfection to note. After a lovely Honey Gold and Wimbledon White repaint and interior refresh prior to current ownership, some scratches have accrued, as well as a bit of paint damage and corrosion around the gas cap. Additionally, a previous battery decided enough was enough, and caused additional corrosion on the battery tray. Thankfully, a new battery has been installed, as well as an accelerator pump. Having been driven roughly 400 miles under current ownership, this relic of years past is begging for some seat time. And, seeing as it has some beauty marks, why hold on to it like a museum piece?

    Bring a Trailer

Sporting a V-8 shared with the Mustang of the time, and with three pedals to boot, there’s an awful lot to love about this Ranchero. What’s more, it has an incredibly clean interior, a crisp exterior, and practically zero underbody rust. Those are hard to come by in a near 60-year-old ride. The last 289-powered model on Bring a Trailer sold for $17,000 roughly one year ago, and with bidding already ahead of that figure as of this writing with two days to go, who knows where this will end up.

This fancy number plate cost the bidder Rs 15.4 lakhs which is Rs 14,69,000 more than the cost of the new Honda ActivaNew Honda Activa 6G. File Photo.Buying a vehicle could become news. Recently, a man from Tamil Nadu purchased a Bajaj Dominar at Rs 2.67 lakhs with Rs 1 coins. He was saving money for 3 years to buy his dream motorcycle. This news was all over the internet, even Bajaj Auto had shared it on their social media. Now comes a story where a man who spent more than Rs 15 lakhs for a fancy number plate. Yes, Rs 15 lakhs, and that too on a scooter. Usually, fancy numbers are bought for expensive cars or bikes. But this one here, is for a Honda Activa. The no is CH01- CJ-0001.Honda Activa Fancy Number Plate at 21:1 RatioIn a recent auction held by the Chandigarh Registering and Licensing Authority, 378 fancy registration numbers and leftovers were sold for Rs. 1.5 crore. Among these was the fancy number plate which was picked up at Rs 15.44 lakhs for a Honda Activa that cost the buyer Rs 71,000.This was against a reserve price of Rs 50,000. This is a ratio of 21:1 and something rarely seen as fancy number plates are usually purchased for luxury cars in the sedan or SUV segments, which cost many times over. This was earlier the case with a 0001 number plate for which an owner of a Mercedes Benz S-Class had bid Rs 26.05 lakhs in 2012.Honda Activa 0001 NoBrij Mohan, the bidder of the fancy number plate from Chandigarh, runs an advertising agency. He states that initially this no will be seen on his Honda Activa, but it will be migrated to his new car, which he plans to purchase during the upcoming Diwali festival. 0001 number plates are the most favoured and often auctioned at exorbitant prices. CH01CH had fetched Rs 24.40 lakhs in an earlier auction, while in 2012, the CH01 AP series was picked up by a bidder at Rs 26.05 lakhs. This auction comes at a time when Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar opened up fancy number plates to the general public for numbers such as ‘0001’ for their vehicles. This announcement was made by Khattar, at a Cabinet meeting held in Chandigarh. Such numbers are allotted via e-auction.As on date, there are 179 state government vehicles using the 0001 number plate in Haryana and the aim was to generate added revenue from the e-auction with bidding starting from Rs 5 lakhs. As per estimates, revenue of Rs 18 crores could be collected via e-auctioning of these fancy number plates.Honda Activa Price HikeHonda has recently hiked prices of the Activa range from 1st April 2022. Both the Activa 6G and Activa 125 get priced higher by Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 respectively and now carry price tags of Rs 71,432 and Rs 74,898. Apart from this price hike, the company has not introduced any other visual changes while it continues to be powered by the same engine lineup. Honda Activa 125 competes with the Suzuki Access 125 and TVS Jupiter 125. More

Okinawa Electric Scooter Fire Incident – Results In Recall To Check Battery

Electric scooter fires are catastrophic, and the need of the hour is a huge improvement in battery management systemsOkinawa Praise Pro. Image – sansCARi sumitNo doubt, all new processes have niggles that are sorted sooner or later. However, electric vehicles aren’t altogether new. With electric scooter sales on the rise, a major concern that comes to the fore is fire. With multiple videos of such incidents having surfaced, there’s no doubt that such fire incidents need scrutiny.Auditing vehicle fires is a complex and time-consuming process. Especially when determining if a critical flaw has led to the fire. This requires manufacturers to rectify known flaws on all models with a faulty part as an immediate corrective measure. With electric scooter sales only just beginning to gain any real momentum, it’s a crucial time for the growing industry. As such, a fire scare can do more damage than imaginable. While customers today are keen on EV knowhow, a lot is still left to imagination. And the current spate of fire incidents isn’t good for customer sentiment. Government policy must pave the way for better battery management systems.Okinawa Praise Pro recallIn a first, Okinawa Autotech a topselling electric two-wheeler company has announced a recall. This extends to 3,215 units of its Praise Pro scooters. The company will ‘check and fix any issue related to batteries with immediate effect’. This is part of the company’s comprehensive power pack health check-up camps.Okinawa Electric Scooter production starts at new plantBatteries are to be checked for loose connectors or any damage. Repairs will be carried out at Okinawa dealerships at no cost to the customer. Dealerships will contact customers and carry out checks and repairs at customer convenience. ‘This voluntary campaign is in the wake of the recent thermal incident and in line with the company’s long-standing commitment to customer safety,’ the company said.  Electric Scooter Fire – How To SaveIn most videos of e-scooter fires seen recently, vehicles have burnt to the ground. Chances are it’ll be a rapid fire owing to a catastrophic battery failure. This puts focus on lithium-ion batteries in use in most e-scooters sold in India. And lithium ion batteries without cooling systems sound grave. Putting out a battery fire isn’t easy.A raging fire is next to impossible to put out with water. A foam extinguisher or other alternatives are rarely at hand, which results in vehicles being burnt to a crisp. And while battery units are removable, it isn’t likely one would be able to remove a rogue unit in time. With such dangers attached to an e-scooter battery fire, it’s high time manufacturers and fire departments issue safety warnings around such untoward events. The Okinawa scooters website does have a blog regarding care of a li-ion battery. Among a range of things to do’s and don’ts is point number 3 – ‘Please do not charge the li-ion batteries within 1 hour after use of the scooter.’ The write-up even elaborates on what to do in case of battery exposure to water, but ain’t no mention of what to do in case of a fire. There’s obviously a rigorous process of extensive development and testing before such products are approved for the market. However, the focus must shift to the unregulated battery cell manufacturing process on priority. The Centre for Fire Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES) has already been tasked with probing the number of growing e-scooter fires, and suggesting remedial measures. In recent years, India has set targets on an electric push where personal mobility is concerned.  More
