Watch Ken Block Drift His Four-Ton Diesel Dually Ford F-450 Pickup

Ken Block is one of the most skilled drifters on the planet, so if there’s anyone who can get an 8000-pound diesel-powered dually pickup truck sideways, it’s him. Block thought it would be a good idea to slide his massive 2019 Ford F-450 Super Duty tow rig around an empty parking lot at Utah Motorsports Campus for a recent YouTube video after one of his Hoonigan colleagues snapped the half-shafts on his Mk 2 Escort. With a curb weight well over four tons and a suspension designed to tow 35,000 pounds, the truck isn’t exactly the best-suited drift machine. But thanks to a 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo-diesel V-8 making a massive 935 pound-feet of torque under the hood, Block somehow makes it work. And he does it in spectacular fashion. By keeping the truck in third gear, Block is able to pull off some truly impressive slides, linking transitions and executing perfect donuts around his broken Escort. And because he has so much room to play with, there’s a lot of speed involved too. Leave it to Ken Block to turn a tow rig into a competent drift missile.

Maruti Jimny Electric SUV Imagined As A Render – Up To 400 Kms Range

A fully electric Maruti Jimny is still a distant dream – We might have to wait for next gen version, before Jimny goes ElectricMaruti Jimny Electric SUV Render by SRK DesignsSuzuki Jimny has a very large fan base across the globe, including India. The cute little SUV, contrary to its miniature size, is a very competent off-roading vehicle. Its launch in India has been speculated for a long time, but it could take a while before we actually get a taste of the compact off-roader on Indian roads.Meanwhile, the boxy SUV has been digitally imagined as an electric SUV. This digital rendering has been created by SRK Designs and a video of the same has been uploaded on YouTube. As seen in the video, the pint-sized SUV undergoes a lot of changes on its skin giving it a completely different look.Maruti Jimny Electric SUV RenderFor starters, the rendered SUV gets a front fascia which features twin LED bars on both sides instead of the conventional circular retro-shaped halogen headlamps. A horizontal closed-off grille has replaced the signature vertical five-slatted grille while retaining the Maruti Suzuki logo at the centre. The front bumper has been reprofiled and now sports a redesigned skid plate and vertical LED elements on both sides of the bumper. Side profile remains more or less similar to the 3-door Jimny seen in international markets which feature flared wheel arches and a distinct character line running across its shoulder.[embedded content][embedded content]Alloy wheel designs are different with blacked-out machine-cut units making the SUV look even more premium. The flat roof and wing mirrors have been given a grey colour that provides a nice contrast to the overall styling. Range could be in the region of 300-400 kms on full charge. As much as we would love to see a similar fully electric version of Jimny reach production, there are no plans by the Japanese carmaker to electrify this compact off-roader. In fact, it doesn’t even feature a fully hybrid powertrain. But with the automotive world going electric, there is a possibility to see a Maruti Jimny Electric on the road. Upon launch, it might not have any rivals – unless Mahindra decides to launch Thar Electric.5-door Jimny DetailsMaruti is currently developing a new 5-door version of Jimny with a longer wheelbase. This version of the compact off-roader will be introduced in India and other international markets as well. Currently, the three-door version of Jimny is being manufactured at the company’s Gurgaon-based facility for export purposes only. The five-door Jimny is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine that produces 104 bhp and 138 Nm of peak torque. This unit should be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox with the option of an automatic gearbox also likely to be available. International markets could receive a more powerful 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine with a mild-hybrid tech dishing out 128 bhp and 235 Nm of peak torque. A 4×4 drivetrain along with a low-range transfer car will also be offered as standard. Expect it to make its debut sometime next year. More

Pure EV Electric Scooter Recall Issued – After Fire Incidents

Following third fire, Pure EV announces recall of 2,000 units of ETrance+ and EPluto 7G electric scooters from concerned batchesPure EV Electric Scooter RecallA recent spate of electric vehicle fires has been noticed by one and all. If there weren’t already a million queries that were in the process of being answered and understood, a possible fire hazard is worrying. As a proactive measure, a few days earlier, Okinawa announced a voluntary electric scooter recall. Now Pure EV has done the same. This comes close on the heels of fire incidents reported from Madras and Nizamabad. As a precaution, Pure EV has recalled 2,000 units of its ETrance+ and EPluto 7G scooters from concerned batches. As part of the recall, the concerned vehicles will be thoroughly checked. This includes battery checks. Each battery is to be inspected for any imbalance issues. They shall be calibrated through the Batrics Faraday device. In addition, Battery Management System (BMS), and charger calibration will be undertaken as required.Expert panel to probeTo start with, Pure EV is reaching out to customers through its dealer network. This is being encouraged through an expeditious campaign for vehicle health checkup. The company stated it ‘takes safety of its customers and vehicles very seriously’. Concurrently, service camps are ongoing in customer interest. Necessary info too is disseminated in relation to best practices regarding battery and vehicle safety.Pure EV recall issuedCurrently, reasons attributed to such fires are scarce. In the meantime, the government has initiated an expert panel. And results are awaited from a thorough enquiry into such incidents. Once a report is received, the central government will proceed to issue necessary orders on defaulting parties.Electric scooter salesThe move comes at a crucial time. The electric two-wheeler industry is only just teething. Setting strict guidelines at the early stages will help formulated policies for the betterment of the industry in quicktime. This is imperative considering governance is keen on a transition to electric vehicles. A select few states also offer additional subsidies to what is dictated by FAME II policies. Globally too, a move to electric vehicles contributing to a good part of total sales are expected.Policy changes are specific to individual nations attempting to reach net-zero emission goals. At the turn of the ongoing decade, India’s targeted EV penetration is set at 30 percent of all new vehicles registered. Currently, electric passenger car vehicle penetration is lower than small cargo vehicles and electric two-wheelers. Public transport bus fleets are getting necessary investment from government bodies.Govt to setup Expert CommitteeThe large number of competitive e-platform corporate vying for increased business ensures they are quick to adapt to electric SCVs as part of their global net-zero goals. But currently, the true revolution is being brought about by an increasing number of electric two-wheeler manufacturers that have already launched a wide range of low and high speed scooters. All the while sales are increasing. More

The supersport race bike will make its debut at the inaugural TVS Asia One Make Championship conducted by TVS in May this year. The race-spec Apache RR 310 is a significant step up over the company’s existing race-spec track tool Apache GP 165R. It is inspired by the Akula supersport concept that was showcased back in 2016. The superbike is a ground-up project with substantial performance and technological upgrades over its street-legal sibling.TVS Apache RR 310 Race-spec- Styling UpdatesThis fully-faired track bike receives major overhauls in terms of its aesthetics as well as dynamics to suit its nature. For instance, it gets a completely new bodywork made of carbon fibre which makes the race bike 32 percent lighter than the stock model, weighing just 118kg resulting in more agility. These lightweight panels will help the bike reach a higher top speed at the straight track.Major portions of the race-spec motorcycle including wheels are made of carbon fibre. Infact, the entire tail section is made of carbon fibre which doubles up its role as a structural subframe. Further, the triple clamp and foot-pegs are machined out of high-quality aluminium. It draws power from the same 312cc single-cylinder, DOHC, four-valve, liquid-cooled engine but due to revised mechanics belts out 38 percent more power than the stock bike, which comes to about 46 bhp. This has been achieved by using new forged pistons, titanium valves, and HLHD cams.Further, improvements have been made to the engine’s cooling system as well. New Tata Electric Car Global Debut On 29th April – Is It Altroz EV?

Tata Motors will be unveiling an electric car later this month and it could be either Altroz EV or an updated Nexon EVTata Altroz Electric Render by Pratyush RoutTata Motors is going big on its electric mobility ambitions with multiple new products on the anvil. The company recently took the wraps off the Curvv Concept which will take the form of a Coupe-style electric SUV in 2024. Now, they have teased a new electric car debut for 29th April.Although Tata Motors hasn’t shared any specific details regarding the launch of this upcoming EV, we can hazard a guess that this model could be the upcoming Altroz EV or the larger battery version of Nexon EV.Tata Altroz EV- Expected Specs & FeaturesOriginally unveiled as a pre-production concept back at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Altroz EV was then showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, where it was one of the most eye-grabbing models. It flaunted the same exterior design as the regular IC engine-powered Altroz but sported blue highlights on its exterior and interior along with different alloy wheels. The production version expected to be revealed on April 29 will not look too different either.Specifications for Altroz EV are still a mystery as Tata Motors has remained tight-lipped about its battery and powertrain details. We expect the upcoming battery-powered version of the premium hatch to feature the Ziptron powertrain technology which performs duties on Nexon EV and Tigor EV. Tata Motors would be aiming for a driving range of at least 300 kms.Tata Motors teases global debut of new electric carAltroz EV could be offered with fast charging capability as well which will allow it to be charged from 0 to 80 percent in just 60 minutes. In terms of features, the fully electric hatch will be laced with all the niceties offered in the standard Altroz like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, a semi-digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, and connected car tech.Nexon EV – More Range, Power on offerThe other possibility is the updated iteration of Nexon EV which will feature a larger battery pack. This will result in a higher estimated range of around 400-450 km which should translate to a real-world range of around 300km on a single charge. Test mules of the updated Nexon EV have been spied on multiple occasions in recent times. While exterior design of the 2022 Nexon EV is expected to remain unaltered for large parts, spy shots have revealed that it will boast disc brakes on rear wheels. This suggests that Nexon EV could witness a boost in its power output from its powertrain which can be a result of a stronger motor in place. However, specific details can be confirmed only when the EV is officially unveiled.Tata Motors is the leader in electric car salesCurrently, the electric crossover is powered by the brand’s Ziptron EV powertrain technology which draws energy from a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery. This powertrain returns an output of 127 bhp and 245 Nm of torque. The battery gets an 8-year standard warranty. In its current avatar, Nexon EV is priced between Rs 14.54 lakh and Rs 17.15 lakh (ex-showroom). More

Aston Martin Is Going Electric, Launching Its First EV in 2025

Aston Martin plans to launch the first electric model in the company’s history by 2025.Before the EV, Aston will start delivering its first plug-in hybrid–the Valhalla pictured above–in 2024.Aston also says that all of its models will be available with an electrified powertrain by 2026.For anyone who hasn’t figured it out by now, the auto industry is having a moment. It seems every other day another automaker is parading its plans to transition to an entirely electric lineup by the end of the decade. Today it’s Aston Martin’s turn. To no one’s surprise, the company is targeting 2030 as the expiration date of new models with internal-combustion engines. Of course, there’s a chance it’ll still build gas-burning special editions outside its core lineup. Besides that predictable announcement, though, Aston also says it’ll launch its first electric model by 2025.

A few years ago, the 600-hp Aston Martin Rapide E was earmarked to be the British automaker’s first production EV. We even got some seat time in a prototype before Aston canceled plans to build a limited run of 155 copies. Whatever the company’s brass learned from that experience, it looks like they’re ready to try again. This time around, we have no idea what body style the first Aston EV will be, but this author is willing to bet a year’s salary it won’t be another four-door sedan. Could there be an electric version of the DBX SUV? Or perhaps the next-generation Vanquish will be available with an electric option. After all, it’s now expected to launch in 2025, which conveniently aligns with Aston’s timeline.

    Aston Martin

Before the British brand’s first EV arrives, the 937-hp Valhalla–Aston’s first plug-in hybrid–will start deliveries in 2024. That model will kick-start the planned transition to an electric lineup by the end of the decade. Within four years, Aston says every model in its lineup will be available with an electrified powertrain. That means if the DBX or the Vantage is around for the 2026 model year, they’ll be offered with some type of hybrid option, if not a full-blown electric version. In the meantime, Aston is keen to let the world know that the light is green going forward when it comes to targeting net-zero carbon emissions. Welcome to the club.
