Lego to Release New, Bigger 'Back to the Future' DeLorean Set

Lego will release a Back to the Future Time Machine kit on April 1, saying it was “inspired” by the car used in the films, but we all know it’s a DeLorean. The new building set can be used to make the three versions of the BTTF DeLorean seen in the three movies, but not at the same time.Lego first released an official Back to the Future DeLorean set in 2013, but the new version is larger and way more screen-accurate. It goes on sale next month for $170.Somewhere near the top of the list of instantly recognizable movie cars is the Back to the Future Time Machine, a.k.a. a modified 1981 Delorean DMC-12. Plenty of scale models and toy versions of this iconic vehicle have been released in the past, but a new building set from Lego gives movie fans the chance to build all three versions of the vehicle from the three films. The DeLorean Time Machine most people are familiar with is the one from the first movie, and the Lego version includes a light-up flux capacitor and a box of plutonium to re-create scenes from that movie. You’ll have to buy three sets to display the three versions at the same time, as each box includes different greebles and other design elements to make the car look more like it did in the movie’s future timeline from the second film and the Wild West from the third, including Marty McFly’s hoverboard and either railroad-ready wheels or wheels that fold so the car is ready for flight mode. After all, where we’re going, we don’t need roads.

    Lego

The new set comes with two Lego minifigures—of Doc Brown and Marty McFly, of course—even though the car model is nowhere near minifig scale. These are not the first time characters from the Back to the Future films have appeared in Lego form. The company previously released both Doc and Marty as BrickHeadz and, back in 2013, released a minifig-scale DeLorean with the different minifig versions of the two characters. Lego also released two Back to the Future—themed sets for its short-lived Dimensions video game.

The Lego Back to the Future Time Machine set goes on sale April 1 and will cost $169.99 for 1872 pieces. While there will be minor differences between the three versions of the DeLorean you can build, the main model ends up being over four inches tall, 15.5 inches wide, and 7.5 inches deep.

Despite the fact that it can’t ever go faster than 88 miles per hour, the Back to the Future DeLorean is a pop-culture superstar. Last year, the National Historic Vehicle Register made the car the 29th entry on its short list of vehicles highlighting “America’s automotive past for future generations.” Another movie car, the 1979 Lamborghini Countach LP400 S seen in The Cannonball Run, was the 30th car added to the list.

The Back to the Future brand has been strong enough to get applied to non-DeLorean vehicles as well. In 2015, Toyota used the movie car’s famous license plate (which reads OUTATIME) on a modified Mirai for display at SEMA that year. Instead of a hydrogen fuel cell, this version was supposedly powered by a cute Mr. Fusion prop created with help from MV Designz. The Mirai was also modified with gullwing doors, something that will be easier to build with Lego bricks than in the real world. Toyota also featured actors Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd in a BTTF-themed ad for the Mirai at the time.

2022 Bentley Bentayga SUV Gets a Custom Mulliner Space Edition

The 2022 Bentley Bentayga Space Edition is a bespoke model built by Mulliner, the brand’s in-house design division, for one special customer. The Space Edition wears a special greenish-gray Cypress paint job with orange accents inspired by comets’ dust trails. The Bentley’s space theme continues inside with details such as a solar system depicted on the illuminated doorsills. Can you bankroll the 2022 Bentley Bentayga’s six-figure asking price? Do you have a fondness for astronomy, Star Wars, or any other outer-space-related subject matter? Well, apparently one Bentley customer answered yes to all of the above, because someone has commissioned the brand’s in-house design division, Mulliner, to custom-build them a space-themed version of the $262,125 Bentayga Speed.

For those who don’t know or never had a reason to learn, the Bentayga Speed is powered by a 626-hp twin-turbocharged W-12 engine. When we tested a 2017 model–back when it had only 600 horses–it rocketed from zero to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds. That’s pretty quick for something that tipped our scales at 5672 pounds. Obviously, we don’t expect the 2022 Bentley Speed to be any slower, but we do expect it to shove its well-heeled passengers into the back of the SUV’s richly appointed seats.
Along with the rest of the cabin, the seats in the bespoke Bentayga (simply dubbed the Space Edition) are wrapped in beautiful materials. Bentley says the “Beluga and Porpoise” color scheme is intended to evoke the night sky. A similar aesthetic inspired the black satin speaker grilles with their illuminated badging, which are meant to resemble stars. Perhaps our favorite detail is the illuminated design in the doorsills depicting planets in a solar system. Can you guess what the splashy orange accents on the bottom spokes of the steering wheel and on the shift lever are designed after? If you guessed burning rocket fuel, you’re wrong. If you guessed solar eruptions, you are correct!
From the outside, the Bentayga Mulliner Space Edition doesn’t have any gaudy graphics or overt references to a galaxy far, far away. But the SUV does look striking in the photos that Bentley released, especially with the starry sky as the backdrop. While the bespoke Bentley’s space theme is more apropos when the sun goes down, a brighter light might shine more attention on its paint job. We’re told its greenish-gray Cypress paint is the same shade that was worn by the first-generation 2003 Bentley Continental GT. Mulliner also replaced the Bentayga’s shiny exterior trim with gloss-black pieces. In another nod to space, the Orange Flame accents on the lower bodywork are likened to comets’ dust trails.

2022 Suzuki Burgman Electric Scooter Spied Again – New Spy Shots

Upon its launch, the electric scooter from Suzuki will compete against rivals like Ather 450X, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube and Ola S12022 Suzuki Burgman Electric Scooter. Image – Saubhagya VasdevLike many other automakers, Suzuki has been investing its time and resources in developing an electric two-wheeler for the Indian market. The company has been testing a prototype that could be the brand’s first electric scooter in the country for more than a year now. This scooter, which is speculated to be a fully electric derivative of Burgman 125, has been spied testing once again recently. The latest spy shots have been clicked by automotive enthusiast Saubhagya Vasdev. The electric scooter looks very familiar to Burgman Street 125 in terms of look.Suzuki Electric Scooter SpiedLike in previous instances, the test was completely undisguised and wore a dual-tone paint scheme with blue and white colours. Biggest highlight from the recent spy images is the absence of an exhaust canister which is clearly visible. It also features a grey sleeve around the footboard which offers a visual distinction. Overall exterior appearance of the test mule is very similar to conventional scooters- both petrol and battery-powered.However, as per patents leaked earlier last year, it features a unique set of internal mechanics. Conventional scooters in EV space usually feature an electric motor and swingarm as a combined unit or take another approach of mounting the motor on the hub of the rear wheel. This allows freeing up space within the chassis to create more room for luggage or larger batteries.2022 Suzuki Burgman Electric Scooter. Image – Saubhagya VasdevIn this case, however, patents have revealed a unique design where a drivetrain is located in the under-seat area connected to a motor via a chain drive setup. Rest of the electric scooter’s electronics are mounted on top of the motor along with a speed controller, transformer and battery.Other visual highlightsAdditionally, the reflector is now re-positioned above the registration plate as opposed to below the plate. It also gets a rear tyre hugger for better protection and a digital instrument console, which might feature Bluetooth connectivity as well as 4G LTE. This allows for smartphone connectivity as well as connected features. Most visual details from the electric scooter have been carried forward from Burgam Street 125 though there are very noticeable variations. For starters, a single-sided shock absorber in Burgman is replaced by twin shock absorbers at rear – probably to carry additional weight of lithium-ion battery pack. Like Burgman Street, the battery-powered scooter features a similar set of alloy wheels and a chunky grab rail for pillion.2022 Suzuki Burgman Electric Scooter. Image – Saubhagya VasdevSuzuki hasn’t yet revealed any official word on its EV program in India. We expect the upcoming electric scooter to feature a powertrain comprising a 3-4kWh battery pack and a 4-6 kW electric motor. Its exact launch timeline isn’t confirmed yet, we expect Suzuki to officially unveil this upcoming electric scooter sometime later this year. Honda, TVS, Yamaha, Hero are other major two wheeler brands which have plans to launch electric scooter in India. More

New Honda Hawk 11 Cafe Racer Makes Global Debut – Photos

Quite a few styling bits for Hawk 11 appear to have been borrowed from CB4 Interceptor Concept that was showcased in 2019New Honda Hawk 11 Cafe Racer. Image – AutoByIn global markets, Honda Africa Twin’s platform has been utilized for other popular bikes such as Rebel 1100 and NT1100. To ensure choices are not limited to tourer, cruiser, ADV segments, Honda has unveiled an entirely new 1100cc bike.Named Hawk 11, the bike was unveiled at the 2022 Osaka Motorcycle Show. This new Honda motorcycle will work to fill the gap that’s been left with the recently discontinued CB1100.New Honda Hawk 11 Cafe RacerA neo-retro cafe racer, Hawk 11’s most distinguishing feature is its Monza fairing. As it is similar to that of CB4 Interceptor Concept, it provides a clue about the level of similarities that could be there between the two bikes.Other key highlights include circular headlamp with DRL and chrome surround, compact windscreen, round rear view mirrors, spear-shaped turn indicators, low-set handlebar and sculpted fuel tank. A single-piece seat will be used for Honda Hawk 11. Images are credited to Young Machine.New Honda Hawk 11 Cafe RacerWhile the CB4 Interceptor Concept had 4 exhaust pipes, making their way under the seat, this one features a more practical design for the exhaust. The bike has minimal fairing and much of the chassis is similar to Africa Twin. A few changes have been introduced to suit its cafe racer profile. Hawk 11 is an all muscle, with the massive twin-cylinder engine highlighting its beasty nature.New Honda Hawk 11 Cafe RacerHonda Hawk 11 specsPowering Hawk 11 will be the same 1082.96 cc engine used with Africa Twin. The liquid cooled motor generates 100 ps of max power at 7,500 rpm and 103 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The bike is offered with manual as well as DCT transmission option.Hawk 11 has a semi double cradle steel frame with USD front forks and monoshock rear suspension. It’s likely that suspension will be stiffer to ensure optimal performance on the tarmac. It includes heated grips, cruise control, throttle by wire system, selectable and cornering ABS and wheelie control. Multiple ride modes will be on offer including user customizable options. Royal Enfield Himalayan Vs Scram 411 Vs Yezdi Scrambler – Comparison

Both Royal Enfield Scram 411 and Yezdi Scrambler are aimed at a similar section of buyers who opt for touring as well as scrambling on rough terrains occasionallyImage – Dev MTRRoyal Enfield has launched the much awaited Scram 411 in India at a starting price of Rs 2.03 lakh (ex-showroom). Even before it got launched, Scram 411 has been compared closely with models- Royal Enfield Himalayan and Yezdi Scrambler. The former since Scram is based on the ADV and is a more accessible derivative of the same. The latter because it is Scram’s sole direct rival currently in the Indian market. Now that we have got hold of Scram 411’s official details, we have pitted it against its two closest nemeses and checked how it fares against them on paper.Royal Enfield Himalayan Vs Scram 411 Vs Yezdi ScramblerEven though Scram 411 is based on Himalayan there have been quite a few changes that have led to varying dimensions. The most significant of those is a shorter 17-inch front wheel instead of a 21-inch unit in Himlayan which has resulted in a tighter rake angle for Scram at its front fork. It has also resulted in a reduction of wheelbase and ground clearance by 10mm and 20mm respectively.Due to deletions of components like tank braces, front windscreen and luggage mounting rack at rear, kerb weight of Scram stands 14kg lighter than its ADV sibling. On the other hand, it is still 3kg heavier than Yezdi Scrambler. Both scramblers get same ground clearance but the one from Yezdi offers a much shorter wheelbase of 1403mm. Scram also receives the shortest seat height of 795mm.Royal Enfield Himalayan Vs Scram 411 Vs Yezdi ScramblerPowertrain SpecsBoth Scram and Himalayan are identical in this department as they are powered by the same 411cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 24.3 bhp and 32 Nm of peak torque. In comparison, Yezdi Scrambler is powered by a smaller 334cc engine, however, this one produces a higher output thanks to a liquid cooler. The powertrain in Yezdi Scrambler kicks out 28.7 bhp and 28.2 Nm of peak torque. This unit is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch. At the same time, Royal Enfield siblings are offered a 5-speed gearbox.Hardware SpecsEven in terms of hardware configurations, Scram 411 is almost identical to its donor model. Both are underpinned by a Half-duplex split cradle frame that is suspended on 41mm telescopic forks upfront and a mono-shock at rear. However, front forks for Scram offer 10mm less travel than its adventure twin. In case of Yezdi, it features twin gas-charged shock absorbers at rear.Royal Enfield Himalayan Vs Scram 411 Vs Yezdi ScramblerScram and Scrambler have an exact same wheel configuration with the latter offering slightly fatter tyres at rear. Braking configurations are also similar for all three bikes with Yezdi offering a slightly larger 320mm disc brake at front. All three bikes offer dual-channel ABS as standard, however, Himalayan gets a switchable unit which lends it better control on rough terrains.PricesScram has the lowest priced base model at Rs 2.03 lakh, followed by Yezdi Scrambler at Rs 2.07 lakh and Himalayan at Rs 2.15 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). The same trend continues in higher variants as well but price differences are not alarming to affect one’s buying decision. More
