Electric Scooter Fire Because Cheaper Parts – Ola, Okinawa, Pure EV Summoned

Pure EV, Boom Motors, Ola Electric, Jitendra EV and Okinawa are the companies under the spotlight for EV fires and related hazardsPure EV Electric Scooter catches fireHow many electric two-wheeler startups can you count? 5? 10? Nope. There are over 22 such companies and every one of them wanna offer an electric two-wheeler to the Indian audience. But not every startup has the financial backing, manufacturing expertise, manufacturing efficiency and ethics to offer a fool-proof product to customers. Especially Indian customers, most of whom are new to EV technology.Where the market is immature in EV tech and there are no proper guidelines and interventions by the Government, manufacturers lean towards profitability a little too much. This is reflected in the slew of EV fires that are taking place across the country. But, times are changing and Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari had ordered the Centre for Fire, Explosives and Environment Safety (CFEES) to investigate the fire hazards of the electric scooters.DRDO Report On Electric Scooter FireCentral Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), which is a part of the Union Consumer Affairs ministry, sent legal notices to Pure EV and Boom Motors earlier this month. The notice demands Pure EV and Boom Motors provide an explanation as to why their products caught fire in April. Similar notices have also supposedly reached Ola Electric, Jitendra EV and Okinawa Autotech. The CFEES of the DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation) has done a thorough investigation by also roping in Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru. The joint probe examined all the EV fire cases in India and has come up with a shocking report. According to the report, DRDO has stated that in every EV fire incident, the manufacturer might have used lower-quality cheap materials resulting in faulty battery cells and battery modules.Ola Electric ScooterThe Ministry has supposedly summoned representatives from Pure EV, Boom Motors, Ola Electric, Jitendra EV and Okinawa Autotech demanding an explanation regarding the matter. Nitin Gadkari has also said that the Indian Government would issue quality-centric guidelines for all the existing and upcoming electric vehicle manufacturers.Future Of EVsIn the light of EV fires, Ola Electric has recalled over 1400 units of S1 Pro electric scooters, Pure EV recalled over 2000 units of the ETrance+ and EPluto 7G scooters and Okinawa recalled over 3250 units of their electric scooters.Mishaps like these create a lot of confusion among people regarding safety of EVs in general. A lot of EV two-wheeler manufacturers have been producing electric scooters for many years without a fire hazard. We have seen multiple startup EV motorcycle manufacturers providing solid EVs since day one. But the inevitability of a startup remains unless mainstream manufacturers like Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp and others jump into the EV bandwagon. If the Indian Government mandates quality guidelines across EV platforms, it will streamline India’s EV vision while controlling EV fire hazards. This also raises an ethical question regarding manufacturers’ profitability at the cost of product safety. In a young market like India, buyers should be aware of what they’re getting into. More

The smaller battery claims a 373 km range. Kia EV6 will use an 800V charging system allowing fast charging from 10-80 percent in 18 minutes.Given the fact that Kia EV6 will not be built in India and will instead come in as a CBU, it is slated to attract hefty import duty. Hence a price ranging from Rs 40-60 lakh is what can be expected. It will rival the Volvo XC40 Recharge once launched while it will also share some common features with the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Following the launch of Kia EV6, the automaker also plans to launch many more electric cars. This is a part of Kia India plan to introduce 6 new electric vehicles in India by 2024. More

2023 Kawasaki 175cc Retro Classic Motorcycle Updated – New Colours

Kawasaki had planned the launch of Kawasaki W175 in India but it seems to be delayed indefinitely2023 Kawasaki W175Kawasaki in India is well known for offering performance motorcycles at a reasonable cost, as compared to some rivals. The motorcycle that catapulted Kawasaki towards success in India, is Ninja 300. It offers decent performance for the money with twin-cylinder smoothness and a rev-happy character. But Kawasaki has many more motorcycles in international markets. Some of the models have single-cylinder engines and are targeted toward the premium commuter category. Best example of such a motorcycle is Kawasaki’s W175 which is available in a few south-east Asian countries like Indonesia.2023 Kawasaki W175Kawasaki recently launched 2023 version of the W175 in Indonesia. It is Kawasaki’s smallest capacity retro-themed motorcycle. The updated motorcycle remains visually true to the model it replaces. With its round headlamp, single cradle chassis, and retro-looking ribbed seat cover, it screams retro and classic.W175 comes in three avatars namely TR, TRSE and Cafe Racer. TR is a scrambler variant, TRSE is a roadster variant and Cafe Racer is, well, a Cafe Racer. These variants make sure that customers get a desired package from Kawasaki’s entry-level retro motorcycle. Kawasaki has also introduced new colours with the W175.2023 Kawasaki W175TR gets a ribbed seat cover, raised fenders at the front and rear and a bash plate. It is finished in the traditional Kawasaki green paint scheme which we have come to like. TRSE gets similar styling but it gets two special edition paint schemes that are inspired by the 1950s. Cafe Racer gets a headlight cowl matching the body colour and special graphics on fuel tank and side covers which gives it a sporty appearance.Specs and PricingKawasaki W175 has retained the engine and its tuning from the model it replaces. It is an air-cooled, 177 cc single-cylinder motor churning out 13 PS and 13.3 Nm. Numbers from this engine make it feel rather uninspiring but there’s another number that will help compensate, weight. At just 126 kg, it is significantly lighter than other retro-themed motorcycles in its class. Due to its weight advantage, W175 has a better power:weight ratio than its rivals.W175 also gets traditional front telescopic suspension and twin shocks at the rear. It also gets traditional braking hardware in the form of a disc at front and a drum unit at the back. Also, a single-cradle chassis. The motorcycle also gets halogen bulbs throughout. Even though the design seems to be inspired by the bigger W800 street, it comes off as low-rent.2023 Kawasaki W175Kawasaki has priced W175 in Indonesia starting from 33.4 million Rupiah for TR (around Rs. 1.77 lakh), 34.4 million Rupiah for TRSE (around Rs. 1.82 lakh) and 35.6 million Rupiah for Cafe Racer (around Rs. 1.89 lakh). W175 has been spotted multiple times testing in India. Even though the launch was imminent, Kawasaki never did it. For its 175 cc capacity, it seems a logical competitor to Yamaha’s FZ-X. But it would be priced around the well-established 350 cc motorcycles from Royal Enfield, Honda, Jawa and even Yezdi.  Given Kawasaki’s premium image in India and looking at the prices of W175 in Indonesia, we can speculate that the pricing of W175 retro motorcycle will be on the higher side. But Kawasaki brand value and low kerb weight could be deciding factors in W175’s success in a market like India where the craze for retro-themed motorcycles is rising by the day. More

2022 Ford Bronco Raptor Will Churn Out 418 Horsepower

The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor’s fuel economy ratings have been revealed, and it returns a combined 15 miles per gallon. This makes it the least fuel-efficient Bronco, thanks to its more powerful engine, bulkier bodywork, and 37-inch tires. The Bronco Raptor is more efficient than its closest rival, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, but the Jeep is powered by a roaring V-8.UPDATE 5/24/22, 4:45 p.m.: In a tweet, Ford CEO Jim Farley confirmed the Bronco Raptor’s official horsepower figure for the first time, writing that the off-roader will produce 418 ponies. Horsepower had been previously estimated at a targeted 400 hp.The 2022 Ford Bronco Raptor is a beast. The twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 pumps out 418 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, while the bodywork swells 8.6 inches wider to accommodate 37-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires. While these changes make the Bronco into an even more proficient off-roader, it comes at a cost. The EPA has released its fuel economy rating for the 2022 Bronco Raptor, and it is unsurprisingly the least efficient Bronco in the lineup.
The EPA says that the 2022 Bronco Raptor will get 15 miles per gallon in the city and 16 mpg on the highway, good for a combined rating of 15 mpg. This makes it thirstier than other off-road models including V-6–powered Sasquatch, which gets a combined 17 mpg. The most efficient Broncos, on the other hand, are the base models fitted with the four-cylinder, which return 20 mpg combined regardless of whether they use a manual or automatic gearbox.

The Bronco Raptor’s closest competitor, the 470-hp Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392, guzzles more gas, with 13 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway for a 14 mpg combined figure. However, the 392 manages this with a hulking 6.4-liter V-8 stuffed under the hood. While the 392 also gains a taller suspension and other off-road goodies, it rides on significantly smaller 33-inch tires (there is an option for 35s). While the Bronco Raptor is slightly more fuel efficient than its Jeep rival, we doubt many buyers of these all-terrain conquistadors are concerned with how much fuel their $70,000 brutes chug.

A set of butterfly doors, as well as the front and rear hoods, can also be opened and closed at your leisure. Of course, someone first has to piece the whole thing together.Once it’s completely assembled, Lego says its Daytona SP3 measures 23.0 inches long, 9.5 inches wide, and 5.5 inches tall. Along with the aforementioned working parts, the Lego model has rolling wheels covered in silver lacquer. Removing the model’s black roof panel reveals a pair of blue seats inside.

Ferrari isn’t likely to build more than 500 copies of the Daytona SP3, all of which have likely already found homes with the brand’s wealthiest and most loyal customers. Luckily, Lego will sell a lot more of the red Ferrari when the first sets go on sale worldwide in the company’s stores on June 1, followed by the retail release on August 1.
