Yamaha MT15 New Vs Old Compared – First Look Walkaround

New Yamaha MT15 V2.0 packs in multiple updates across styling, functionality and performanceYamaha MT15 Ver 2.0 – New vs OldAfter updating R15 last year in September, Yamaha launched new-gen MT15 a few days back. Both bikes share the same platform and most of the upgrades introduced with R15 V4 are now available with MT15 V2.0.New MT15 has been launched at a starting price of Rs 1.6 lakh, which is around Rs 10-15k more than the earlier model. Here’s a quick comparison between old MT15 vs. MT15 V2.0 to understand the key differences between the two bikes.Yamaha MT15 New Vs Old – Styling and FeaturesWhile R15 V4 has received multiple visual updates in comparison to its predecessor, new MT15 Ver 2.0 remains largely the same as earlier in terms of its design and styling. Visual updates on MT15 Ver 2.0 are limited to things like refreshed front mudguard, body graphics and raised tail lamp. Quality of mudguard appears to have been improved with the use of thicker plastic material. Some visual changes are based on functional improvements such as USD front forks in golden finish. Old MT15 had standard telescopic forks at front. Talking about colour options, MT15 Ver 2.0 gets two new colour options of Cyan Storm and Racing Blue. Earlier colour options of Metallic Black and Ice Fluo-Vermillion have been retained. Dark Matt Blue and Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition options have been discontinued for new MT15 Ver 2.0.[embedded content][embedded content]Features that are the same as earlier include bi-functional LED headlights, multi-function negative LCD instrument console, sporty rear view mirrors, sculpted fuel tank, rugged engine guard, uni-level seat with grab bar and upswept exhaust. As compared to old MT15, the newer model has been equipped with Bluetooth-based connectivity features. These are the same as available with other Yamaha bikes such as R15 V4. Connectivity features can be accessed via Yamaha Y-Connect app. Users can get notified about calls, SMS, email, app connectivity status and phone battery level.Y-Connect app also has other functions such as fuel consumption tracker, last parking location, revs dashboard, malfunction notification and maintenance recommendations. Some of these can be quite useful. For example, the revs dashboard can show information that is not displayed on the instrument console. It shows information such as engine RPM, rate of acceleration, degree of throttle opening, real-time fuel consumption and eco-friendly riding indicator.Yamaha MT15 Ver 2.0 – New vs OldMT15 vs. MT15 V2.0 engine and specsPowering MT15 V2.0 is the updated 155cc liquid cooled motor that was introduced last year with R15 V4. It generates 18.4 PS of max power and 14.1 Nm of peak torque. These numbers are largely the same as that of old MT15. The engine is paired with a 6-speed constant mesh transmission. In other changes, rear swingarm has been updated for MT15 V2.0. Braking apparatus remains the same, dual discs with single-channel ABS. Genesis X Concept Evolves into Elegant Speedium Coupe

Genesis created a new version of the X concept called the Speedium Coupe. It has a different roofline and new lighting elements, among other changes. We don’t expect anything like this to become a reality, but design elements from this car will be seen on future Genesis EVs.Last year’s gorgeous Genesis X coupe concept caught our attention with its athletic proportions and clean integration of the brand’s “two lines” design motif. Now, a team of designers led by Luc Donckerwolke has transformed the concept into something a bit more interesting to look at. This new version of the Genesis X concept is called the Speedium Coupe, and it features a reworked roofline, updated lighting elements, and a grille shape that will supposedly make its way onto Genesis’s upcoming lineup of EVs.

    Genesis

The Speedium name refers to a racetrack in Korea, and although the company is still referring to this as a coupe, we’re thinking it looks more like a two-door hatchback or even a shooting brake from certain angles. The greenhouse extends much further back than on the original concept, and the roofline tapers down gradually and ends in a ducktail-style rear spoiler. The previous concept’s mesh grille is swapped out for a body-color panel bracketed by light bars arranged in a triangular shape, while the lower front fascia now incorporates wider mesh intakes.

    Genesis

While Genesis is not talking about the Speedium Coupe’s powertrain, it is certainly electric—although, as a mere design study that’s not meant to preview any direct production models, it doesn’t necessarily have a real drivetrain at all. Donckerwolke described the Speedium Coupe as a kind of creative exploration that the design studio would not typically show to the public—a “peek behind the curtain” if you will.If all of the Genesis designers’ freestyle exercises look this good, we’re definitely curious to see what else is behind that curtain. And while we won’t necessarily see a car like this at Genesis dealerships anytime soon, we can only hope that its interesting shape and knockout proportions might make their way onto production Genesis vehicles in the near future.

2012 Cadillac CTS-V Wagon is Our Bring a Trailer Auction Pick of the Day

This Opulent Blue over Ebony leather 2012 Cadillac CTS-V wagon, currently up for auction on Bring a Trailer, has less than 30,000 miles, and its three pedals are proof it was optioned as God intended. The rear-drive-only Cadillac CTS-V wagon used a 556-hp supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 and was offered with either a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. As of this writing, the bidding for this 29,000-mile example has reached $75,000 with the auction ending on Saturday, April 16. Bring a Trailer’s highest winning bid for a CTS-V happened last year, when a 2011 CTS-V wagon with just 7400 miles sold for $96,500.We’ve often used the phrase “They don’t build ’em like they used to.” In some ways, we should all be thankful they don’t. Today, cars are generally safer, quicker, and more fuel-efficient than they’ve ever been. Of course, those contemporary benefits come at the sacrifice of some of our favorite cars. But a car like this 2012 Cadillac CTS-V wagon is something automakers had never built before and are unlikely ever to build again.

The CTS-V, sold in every solid-roofed body style short of an SUV or pickup, legitimized Cadillac’s performance efforts. The first generation (2004–07) was only available with a manual transmission and found itself among competitors such as the Audi S4 and Mercedes-Benz C55 AMG. The wagon wouldn’t arrive until the CTS-V’s second generation in 2010, and its existence made as much sense then as a 556-hp supercharged V-8 wagon with three pedals and Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires would make today.

    BringATrailer

It’s an obvious BaT pick of the day for us because anytime a CTS-V wagon is mentioned, it’s personal. C/D was there for the birth and first 40,000 miles of our long-term 2011 CTS-V wagon, so this unusually awesome automobile holds a special place in our hearts. It won three consecutive 10Best awards in the four years it existed. Have you heard one of these bad boys roar in person? It’s borderline catcalling toward automotive enthusiasts.

    BringATrailer

This example is a particularly good one, not just because of its lack of mileage, but because the Opulent Blue paint and Ebony interior are better suited to the car’s sporty instincts than pearl white paint with ice cream guts are. It’s also an excellent example of collectorship. In September 2019 this CTS-V wagon sold on BaT for $68,000. As of this writing, the current bid already exceeds that by nearly $10,000 with five days of bidding left. When new, the CTS-V wagon started at $64,290, or roughly $83,600 when calculating for inflation. A six-speed manual transmission, magnetorheological dampers, Brembo brakes, and 19-inch Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires were all standard equipment. During our testing, the thunderous station wagon launched to 60 mph in just 4.0 seconds with a 12.3-second quarter-mile time at 118 mph. That’s not too far from today’s sassiest saloon, the 603-hp twin-turbo Mercedes-AMG E63 we’ve tested that reached 60 mph in 3.0 seconds and a quarter-mile in 11.1 seconds at 122 mph.

    BringATrailer

An uneven comparison, given their 47 horsepower, $59K price difference, and 11-year discrepancy, but they share the biggest symptom of a car that won’t sell in the U.S.: feverishly fun to drive, acute wagon shape, and internal bruising of the pocketbook from an unquenchable thirst. The added availability of the manual transmission for the Cadillac makes it more obscure, but in a good way. The lines of what car enthusiasts love and what the general car-buying public is actually purchasing might forever run parallel, but the CTS-V wagon is a mark of passion. It will be interesting to see if this specific example beats the CTS-V on BaT that brought $96,500 last year.

Limited Run of 2022 Grand Wagoneers Will Have 510-HP Hurricane I-6

Before the new twin-turbo inline-six propagates across the 2023 Wagoneer lineup, Jeep will offer a limited run of 2022 short-wheelbase Grand Wagoneer models with this engine. The twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six a $2000 option and produces 510 horsepower, more than the standard 6.4-liter V-8’s 471 hp.Dealers have already opened orders for these 2022 Grand Wagoneers with the engine upgrade. If you want to be among the first to own a vehicle with Stellantis’ “Hurricane” twin-turbo inline-six engine, Jeep has already opened orders for a limited run of short-wheelbase 2022 Grand Wagoneer models that will be equipped with this new engine. Jeep says these 2022 vehicles will arrive sooner than the 2023 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models that will more formally introduce the inline-six into the lineup: it’ll be standard on the new long-wheelbase “L” variants and optional on the short-wheelbase configurations.

This run of 2022 Grand Wagoneer models will come only with the high-output version of the twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six that produces 510 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. It costs $2000 extra over the 471-hp 6.4-liter V-8 engine that’s standard in the Grand wagoneer. (There’s also a standard-output Hurricane that will be available on the 2023 Wagoneer with 420 horsepower and 468 pound-feet of torque.)There won’t be any visual differences to set apart the six-cylinder Grand Wagoneers from their V-8 counterparts, but we’re sure that the new engine’s entirely different sound profile will make the distinction obvious. Jeep won’t say exactly how many of these 2022 Hurricane-equipped models it will build, but dealerships are accepting orders now.

2023 Kia Telluride Adds X-Line and X-Pro Trims, Plus More Tech

The 2023 Kia Telluride made its debut at the New York auto show this morning. The new model of the mid-size SUV benefits from visual enhancements and added driver-assist technology, plus hill-descent control that’s standard on all models.Like the 2023 Sportage, the Telluride also gets new X-Line and X-Pro models with a more rugged off-road-capable profile.Kia has updated its wildly popular—and 10Best-winning—Telluride for 2023 with slightly revised exterior styling, enhanced driver-assistance features, tweaked tech, and two new rugged-appearance trim levels. The headlights replace their orange-rectangle lighting element with twin spotlights and vertical bars, the lower fascia is reworked, and the leading edge of the hood loses its TELLURIDE lettering. The rear appearance and lower body-side molding have also been tweaked. Following the lead of the redesigned 2023 Sportage, the Telluride adds a rugged-looking X-Pro trim level and also a less intense X-Line model.

    Kia

Both of the new trims are AWD exclusively. The X-Line’s special elements are a 0.4-inch-higher ride height, a new Tow mode, beefier roof rails, a redesigned grille, and trim-specific 20-inch wheels. The X-Pro adds a 110-volt outlet in the cargo area, swaps the 20-inch wheel for 18-inchers with all-terrain tires, and has an increased tow rating of 5500 pounds (up from 5000). Note, however, that the Telluride’s sole engine offering is unchanged: a 3.8-liter V-6 again making 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. Hill-descent control is a new addition, standard for all Telluride trims whether with front- or all-wheel drive.
The standard Highway Driving Assist (HDA) semi-autonomous adaptive cruise control can now be upgraded to HDA 2, which adds lane-change functionality. The standard speed-limit recognition system can automatically adjust the cruise control set speed when the speed limit changes. The forward collision avoidance system now also watches for oncoming traffic when making a left turn. Additionally, it can brake to avoid cross traffic in an intersection or brake and steer when it detects an oncoming vehicle during a two-lane pass. It’s also better able to watch out for pedestrians and cyclists. Also on the tech front is a new available digital key functionality, which requires an iPhone, Samsung Galaxy Android, or Apple Watch.
Inside, the biggest change is the arrival of a digital instrument cluster, which merges with the larger infotainment screen (now 12.3 inches). The head-up display also is larger and can show more info. Fortunately, Kia has retained much of the center stack, which still features physical buttons to operate much of the climate control system and to quickly access major touchscreen functions. Also retained are knobs for volume, tuning, and temperature, as well as a real shift lever.Pricing for the 2023 Telluride has not been released yet, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see the figures creep up slightly. The 2022 model ranges from $34,385 to $44,285. The 2023 Telluride goes on sale this fall.

2023 Kia Niro Makes U.S. Debut, Includes EV with 253 Miles of Range

The North American version of the 2023 Kia Niro has made its debut at the 2022 New York auto show. Hybrid, plug-in-hybrid, and EV versions will be offered, with the EV boasting a 253-mile driving range. The hybrid model is said to be targeting a 53-mpg combined rating from the EPA, and the plug-in hybrid claims a 33-mile electric driving range from its 11.1-kWh battery pack.Kia unveiled the 2023 Kia Niro lineup today at the New York auto show, including an EV model with 253 miles of driving range. While we’ve seen the redesigned Niro already, we haven’t seen the U.S.-spec version or received info on the PHEV and EV variants. But luckily the crossover’s brash new styling carries over unchanged from global market variants.
The standard powertrain will continue to be a hybrid setup that consists of a 139-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder, a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, an electric motor, and front-wheel drive. Kia says this version of the Niro should receive a 53-mpg combined estimate from the EPA, which is 3 mpg higher than the outgoing model with the same powertrain.A plug-in-hybrid model will also be offered that uses the same 1.6-liter four-cylinder but adds a more powerful electric motor and an 11.1-kWh battery pack. All-electric driving range should be around 33 miles per charge, according to Kia. The company also says that the Niro PHEV can recharge its battery completely in under three hours if it’s hooked up to a Level 2 charger.

For those looking to go electric, there will still be a Niro EV this time around. Like the current model, it uses a 201-hp electric motor and a 64.8-kWh battery pack, but range is boosted to a claimed 253 miles per charge. The Niro EV will support DC fast-charging and is said to be able to recharge its battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 45 minutes on such a connection. All three models have a more sculptural look inside and out, with interiors that utilize sustainable materials. More tech is embedded within the Niro’s new look, too, including newly standard driver-assistance features such as pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring.
Adaptive cruise control with a semi-autonomous driving feature will be optional on all three models. The system uses information from the Niro’s navigation system as well as onboard sensors to provide an additional layer of capability to the adaptive cruise control. We’ve tried the system out on other Kia and Hyundai products and it works fairly well, although it’s not a completely hands-off affair. The interior should be more spacious than before, as the redesigned Niro has grown in length, width, and height, a boon for buyers who found the last-generation car a bit too snug. Kia says the 2023 Niro hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and EV will go on sale this summer.
