      Toyota Supra Is Officially Adding a Manual Transmission

      The Toyota Supra will soon be available with a manual transmission.We don’t know yet if the stick-shift will be offered for the base four-cylinder, the inline-six, or both.Expect more details to be released within the next few weeks.Ever since it relaunched the Supra, Toyota has updated the sports car each year with powertrain upgrades, special editions, and other tweaks. But the big kahuna is still to come, as the company finally confirmed that the Supra is officially getting a manual transmission.

      The Toyota USA Twitter account posted a photo of a three-pedal setup in the Supra’s driver footwell, and the caption that includes #Manual doesn’t leave much to the imagination—although it should’ve been #SavetheManuals if you ask us. There’s also a press release on Toyota’s U.K. site confirming that a GR Supra with a stick-shift is on its way to becoming a reality.

      What we still don’t know is exactly which powertrain combination will be offered with three pedals. The 2022 Supra offers either a turbo 2.0-liter inline-four with 255 hp or a turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with 382 horsepower; we’d be a little disappointed if the manual was available only with the four-cylinder, if we’re honest. Both powertrains are sourced from BMW, which doesn’t offer either of these engines with a manual on our shores. BMW’s only manual-transmission vehicles currently sold in the U.S., in fact, are the M3 and M4, which offer a 473-hp twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with a six-speed manual as standard equipment.Toyota says more information about the Supra’s manual transmission will be released in a few weeks, so we won’t have to wait too long to find out what’s in store.

      Electric Rickshaw, 3W Sales FY 2022 – YC, Saera, Mahindra, Piaggio

      Three wheeler and auto rickshaw sales increased two fold on a YoY basis to 1,77,874 units in FY 2022Modified rickshaw imageAs electric vehicle demands surge in India, outstanding growth was reported across passenger vehicles and two /three wheelers over the past year. Electric three wheeler sales increased to 1,77,874 units in FY 2022, up from 88,391 units sold in FY 2021. This vehicle retail data has been collated by FADA on 03.04.2022 in collaboration with Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India and gathered from 1,379 out of 1,605 RTOs.Electric Three Wheeler Sales FY 2022YC Electric led the list with 17,049 units sold during the past financial year FY 2022. This was up from 8,936 units sold in FY 2021 while market share dipped from 10.11 percent held in FY 2021 to 9.58 percent in FY 2022.At No. 2 on the list, Saera Electric sales stood at 8,475 units in FY 2022, up from 3,937 units sold in FY 2021 causing market share to increase from 4.45 percent to 4.76 percent YoY. Mahindra Reva sales which had stood at 3,218 units in FY 2021 increased to 8,037 units in FY 2022 while market share increased from 3.64 percent to 4.52 percent in the corresponding periods.Champion PolyPlast sales also increased significantly on a YoY basis to 7,528 units in FY 2022 over 3,071 units sold in FY 2021. Market share surged from 3.47 percent to 4.23 percent during the said periods.Electric Rickshaw / Three Wheeler Sales FY 2022 – FADAThe list of electric three wheelers also included Dilli Electric with 6,456 units sold in FY 2022, up from 2,429 units sold in FY 2021 relating to an increase in market share from 2.75 percent to 3.63 percent. Bestway Agencies sales stood at 6,254 units in FY 2022 from 2,171 units sold in FY 2022 while Unique International saw its sales surge to 5,022 units in FY 2022 from 1,667 units sold in FY 2021.Mahindra, Thukral, MiniMahindra’s electric three wheeler sales which had stood at 3,358 units in FY 2021 increased to 4,809 units in the FY 2022 period. Mahindra e Alfa Cargo is priced at Rs 1.44 lakhs and competes in the commercial electric three-wheelers space with the likes of Euler HiLoad EV and Piaggio Ape E-Xtra FX.Thukral sales were up to 4,334 units from 2,004 units in FY 2021. Mini Metro also saw increased electric three wheeler sales in FY 2022 to 4,311 units from 1,726 units and Vani Electric sales stood at 4,105 units in FY 2022 from 2,960 units sold in FY 2021. Terra, JP Auto and Energy also noted significant increase in three wheeler sales while Piaggio sales surged to 3,426 units in FY 2022 from just 106 units sold in FY 2021. Piaggio also saw its market share increase to 1.93 percent from 0.12 percent held in FY 2021.GK Rickshaw (2,728 units), Allfine Industries (2,689 units), SKS Trade (2,617 units) and Speego Vehicles (2,317 units) saw its sales surge in FY 2022 along with Bright Autozone (2,262 units) and Maa Shakti (2,070 units). Price increments of all models are marginal and should not drastically change buying decisions for prospective consumers.Pleasure Plus is now available at a starting price of Rs 63,520 and goes up to Rs 72,870 for the top-spec XTec Drum Jubilant Yellow variant. Prices of Hero Destini 125 start at Rs 71,500 and go up to Rs 76,900 for the top-spec VX Platinum variant.Xtec lineup of Destini 125 has not witnessed any price update since the scooter was launched only a couple of weeks earlier. Hero recently launched the feature-packed Xtec variant of the Destini 125, priced at Rs 79,990.Hero Scooter Prices April 2022Coming to Maestro Edge, the 110cc version of the sporty-looking scooter is priced at Rs 66,820 for the drum brake variant and Rs 72,870 for the disc brake variant after the latest price update. Whereas the 125cc iteration of Maestro Edge is now priced between Rs 75,450 and Rs 84,320. All prices mentioned above are ex-showroom. No other updates have been reported on any of these four scooters.Hero Scooters SpecsPleasure Plus and Maestro Edge 110 are powered by the same 110.9cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that produces 8 bhp at 7,500rpm and a peak torque 8.75 Nm at 5,500rpm. On the other hand, Destini and Maestro Edge 125 are powered by a 124cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that churns out 8.7 bhp and 10.2 Nm of torque. All scooters are available with a CVT automatic gearbox.All scooters from Hero MotoCorp are offered with a drum brake as standard on both wheels that are aided by combined braking system (CBS).       Toyota Crown Will Reportedly Be a New Hybrid SUV for the U.S.

      Toyota will launch a new SUV model in the U.S. and other markets called the Crown.It will be offered as a hybrid at first, with plug-in and EV versions to follow.The Crown will likely be the most expensive SUV in the lineup, although it might not be the largest.The Crown nameplate is one of Toyota’s oldest, even if most Americans aren’t familiar with the moniker. After being used for Toyota sedans in Japan for decades, the name is set to make its return to our market soon as a hybrid SUV that will be more expensive than any of Toyota’s current crossover offerings, according to a report from Reuters.

      While the report states that the Crown will be costlier than the Sequoia, putting its starting price in the $50,000 range, we don’t think it will be larger than that full-size, truck-based model. If we were to guess, we think the Crown will be a mid-size unibody crossover with more of a luxury bent. It will reportedly offer hybrid, plug-in-hybrid, and electric powertrains, although we’re not sure if all of those variants will make their way to the U.S.The current Crown (pictured above) is a rear-wheel-drive sedan sold only in Japan, so it’s clear that the model will be making a significant transformation for its new generation. We expect the new Crown SUV to look totally different despite sharing its name with this lineage of staid four-doors. The Crown was the first Toyota model sold in the U.S. starting in the late 1950s, but it was later discontinued on our shores as Toyota started selling the Corona and Corolla models here.Look for more information on the new Toyota Crown SUV to come later this year. It may go on sale as soon as the end of 2022 as a 2023 model.

      2023 GMC Canyon Will Add AT4X Off-Road Model

      GMC will debut a new Canyon mid-size pickup this summer, and it will introduce the new AT4X off-road model.It’ll be GMC’s version of the Colorado ZR2, so expect Multimatic spool-valve dampers along with front and rear lockers, and all-terrain tires. This teaser image shows the truck’s rock rails and 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels. GMC’s Canyon mid-size pickup is due for a refresh, and a new model will debut this summer for the 2023 model year. With it will come a more hardcore off-road AT4X model, which was also recently added to the full-size Sierra. It will be GMC’s version of the Chevy Colorado ZR2 and aid in competing with the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, the Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, and even the upcoming Ford Ranger Raptor.

      GMC currently offers a Canyon AT4, minus the X, and it comes with Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, an off-road-tuned suspension, locking rear differential, and a skid plate for the transfer case. The AT4X will make the truck even more off-road capable, adding tons more goodies. While GMC hasn’t revealed any specs on the AT4X, we expect it’ll borrow bits and pieces from the Colorado ZR2, which should include Multimatic’s spool-valve dampers, locking front and rear differentials, Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires, and a wider stance with increased clearances. The new Canyon will also debut a new look. This teaser image shows the AT4X’s badging, rock rails, and 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels.       Royal Enfield Sultan 650cc Modified INT 650 – Concept To Production

      Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 has been modified into a hand-built cafe racer called Sultan by Neev MotorcyclesRoyal Enfield Sultan 650ccRobustness of Royal Enfield’s architecture needs no mention. It is the same reason why numerous motorcycles from the Chennai-based brand undergo aftermarket customisation. In the past, we have covered innumerable examples of a Royal Enfield bike going under the knife to transform its looks.The latest example is a RE Interceptor 650 which has been transformed into a classy-looking cafe racer. Christened ‘Sultan 650’, this project has been designed and conceptualised by Delhi-based Neev Motorcycles. As evident from the images, this custom-built motorcycle features major changes over the stock model.Royal Enfield Sultan 650cc – Concept To ProductionIt was back in May last year, that Neev Motorcycles had shared images of the Sultan. At that time, it was just a project visualized via images. The Sultan project is now a reality.The first thing to notice is the custom-built grey shade that complements mechanical components and internals of the bike beautifully. In addition, the engine gearbox casing has been provided with a nice glossy black finish. Further, blacked-out wheel covers have been added to the stock wheels with ‘Sultan’ scribbled on the front unit. Fenders at both ends have been chopped short.Royal Enfield Sultan 650ccThis Interceptor 650 gets a custom fuel tank with braces and a fuel-filler lid with chrome and gloss black treatment. Side panels are custom-built as well that feature sporty air vents, although it is hard to judge if they are functional or not. Moreover, the stock dual-pod analogue instrument console has been uniquely placed on the side of the fuel tank.Royal Enfield Sultan 650ccSince the bike’s frame has been chopped short as well, it gets a new cafe racer-style custom single-piece seat. Illumination is fully custom consisting of an LED headlamp encased within a black-out bezel, an LED tail lamp and aftermarket turn indicators here with mesh-style covers wrapped over them. A chunky aftermarket sump guard with a large bash plate has been added to protect the engine underbelly from abrasions.Mechanical UpdatesOther than the cosmetic updates, this custom-built Interceptor has undergone major functional upgrades as well. For starters, it gets a new aftermarket clip-on handlebar which is set lower. Also, footpegs appear to be positioned slightly further back which should offer a sporty and aggressive riding posture.Royal Enfield Sultan 650ccThe modified frame now sits on aftermarket upside-down forks in front and twin shock absorbers. Nitrox gas canisters at the rear shock absorbers are gold anodised which also adds to the bike’s visual appeal. Some crucial changes have been made to the power plant as well which now features a custom-built two-in-one exhaust system, with both pipes routed to the right side.The re-routed twin tailpipes culminate at an aftermarket twin-barrel exhaust muffler sourced from Akrapovic. The outlet ports in the muffler also receive a carbon fibre finish which accentuates the premium look. It hasn’t been revealed if this revised exhaust setup has resulted in some changes in power and torque outputs from the engine.Neev Motorcycles team behind Sultan 650ccAs per Neev Motorcycles, the majority of this bike has been hand-built. Meanwhile, the stock Interceptor is powered by a 648cc parallel-twin, oil-cooled engine that churns out 47 bhp and a peak torque of 52 Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a chain drive and a six-speed gearbox with a slipper and assist clutch. More
