2022 FB Mondial 125cc Motorcycle Debuts – KTM 125 Duke Rival

At 135 kg, Piega 125 by FB Mondial promises to be considerably lighter than its main competitor, KTM 125 Duke2022 FB Mondial Piega 125ccFB Mondial is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer that used to be on sale in India in partnership with Kinetic Motors. Due to poor sales, they soon closed their shops. But FB Mondial is quite popular in its home country producing a wide variety of motorcycles. The company is making headlines again in 2022 with the launch of Piega 125 motorcycle. FB Mondial has pitted it against KTM 125 Duke and undercuts it significantly in terms of pricing. Before you ask, no, it is only available in European markets and won’t be sold in India.2022 FB Mondial 125cc vs KTM 125 DukePiega 125’s main draw is its stunning looks. The motorcycle was designed by Rodolfo Frascoli who also designed the new 2022 Suzuki Katana. It is very evident too as Piega 125 seems to draw a lot of inspiration from Katana. The headlight cowl lends it a perspective of a predator about to pounce on its prey. USD forks finished in gold and muscular tank shrouds further accentuate the predator appeal. Headlight duties are taken care of by twin projector units stacked on top of each other. They get LEDs inside them. The tank shrouds boast some aero trickery that adds some downforce for a better front-end feel.2022 FB Mondial Piega 125ccMost intriguing part of Piega 125’s design is the tail section which gets tail-lights, number plate and indicators mounted on the tyre hugger. This gives a very aesthetic and minimal appeal to the rear of the motorcycle. It gets a wide street-inspired handlebar, split seats, an underbelly exhaust and a sophisticated-looking swingarm.2022 FB Mondial 125cc also gets single discs at both ends and gets single-channel ABS as standard. The motorcycle also gets a TFT colour display for instrumentation. All in all, the design of Piega 125 comes off as futuristic and sleek.Powertrain & PriceIt is powered by a 124 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that develops 14.8 bhp and 10.5 Nm. In comparison, KTM 125 Duke makes 14.5 bhp and 12 Nm from its 125cc engine. Duke seems to get the torque benefit over Piega. But Piega strikes back with its 139 kg kerb weight which is lower than Duke’s 159 kg.2022 FB Mondial Piega 125ccFB Mondial has priced the Piega 125 at EUR 4,400 (Rs. 3.66 lakh approx) while KTM has priced 125 Duke at EUR 5,450 (Rs. 4.54 lakh approx). Piega 125 is not only lighter and slightly more powerful than 125 Duke, but it is also significantly cheaper.FB Mondial is not expected to bring its Piega 125 to Indian shores as it will be almost twice its European price. As KTM 125 Duke is manufactured in India, it is priced at Rs. 1.70 lakh which is less than half the price of Piega 125’s European price. More

The ST variant is the only one that gets fast charging support. iQube ST variant gets 4 colour choices that are exclusive to the ST variant, Starlight Blue, Coral Sand, Copper Bronze Matte and Titanium Grey Matte. The pricing for the ST variant isn’t available at the moment. TVS also promises running costs of Rs. 3 per day with the ST variant with a 20 km commute per day and Rs. 5 per unit cost of electricity.ConclusionTVS iQube appears to be eyeing for the conservative scooter buyers that are concerned with the reliability and safety of the flock of electric scooters launched by new and inexperienced manufacturers. With AIS 156 fireproof rating and the ease of mind associated with a product coming from a mainstream manufacturer is expected to draw a lot of customers towards the 2022 iQube. Matte paint jobs are only available with the ST variant. Colour choices are not standard across the range which makes it hard to choose for the customer. New iQube will lock horns with electric scooters from Ola, Ather, Bajaj and the upcoming electric scooters from Honda, Suzuki and Hero MotoCorp. More

Upcoming Bajaj Triumph Scrambler Render – Royal Enfield 350cc Rival

The single-cylinder Bajaj Triumph Scrambler will be pitted head on against Royal Enfield’s new family of 350 cc motorcyclesUpcoming Bajaj Triumph Scrambler MotorcycleAfter announcing a partnership to develop medium displacement premium motorcycles, Bajaj and Triumph have been working under the radar with hardly any updates surfacing in the recent times barring a recent spotting of a prototype abroad. Given the timeline of the partnership announcement, we reckon that the first product should be pretty close to being ready for its world premiere.Bajaj Triumph Scrambler RenderingThe modular medium displacement platform to be born out of this Indo-English alliance could adopt multiple body styles. We think a retro-classic scrambler and a low-riding cruiser are two of the top possibilities. Our design specialist Pratyush Rout has envisioned the former, taking cues from Triumph’s iconic Bonneville family.Earlier this year, a prototype of what is reported to be the Bajaj-Triumph Scrambler was spotted testing along with a sobered up roadster variant. The test mules appeared to donning unfinished body components but the design direction was apparent. The Scrambler variant was equipped with 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear unit, serrated foot pegs and hand guards. While it is obvious that the new Bajaj-Triumph Scrambler and its derivatives will be equipped with a single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, the displacement is still kept under wraps. Given that the partnership is going after Royal Enfield’s immensely popular family of 350cc motorcycles, we expect the displacement to be in the same ballpark albeit with considerably more power and torque.Upcoming Bajaj Triumph Scrambler MotorcycleMarket PositioningIf the Trident and Tiger 660 is anything to go by, Triumph is likely to position the upcoming single-cylinder offering in the premium end of the medium-displacement segment with no skimping on equipment. The prototypes supported this claim by sporting USD front forks, front and rear disc brakes with ABS, TFT instrument cluster, LED headlight and so on.At the time of initial announcement, Bajaj-Triumph revealed that the new range of jointly developed products will have a staring price of under Rs 2 lakhs. With pandemic induced supply chain challenges, it would be a difficult task to stick to this pricing commitment but if at all any OEM can pull off such an attractive pricing, it is Bajaj.Bajaj Triumph Motorcycle LaunchIt is no secret that with its upcoming family of medium displacement single-cylinder premium motorcycles, Bajaj and Triumph aim to put an end to Royal Enfield’s near-monopoly in the segment. Its been over 50 years since Triumph last made a single-cylinder motorcycle but given this segment is growing at a brisk pace globally, it can’t afford not to participate. Bajaj’s experience in manufacturing premium single-cylinder KTMs for global market and a competitive cost structure makes it a sound business model.Bajaj Triumph Motorcycle Spied. Image – MotobobThe first set of Bajaj-Triumph motorcycles are expected to be ready towards the end of this year. They will be made in India for global consumption. We hope to see more info and spy shots trickling online in the coming months. Launch is likely to take place in 2023. More

Survey: Delivery Drivers Admit They're Judging You

Online ordering seems so easy—and in recent years, so essential: you tap a few buttons, type in a few words, and food or a new gadget arrives at your door. But the story behind that journey is a bit rougher than you might imagine.Circuit Route Planner (an app for delivery drivers) surveyed more than 500 delivery drivers about their job, and found that most of them judge us on what we buy, most have been accused of stealing packages, and 80 percent say they’ve eaten some of the food they’re delivering. Results regarding peeing in bottles (or around a customer’s house) and casual hookups were all higher than most people likely expect.Surveys regarding the delivery industry are usually focused on asking consumers if they’re happy with their free shipping options. But the other side of the industry gets less attention: the drivers and couriers who actually do the work of bringing online shoppers their goods.

Maybe you’ve thought about what your cardboard-box bringers experience during their days, but unlikely as detailed as what Circuit Route Planner found. The delivery-driver-focused app recently asked over 500 delivery drivers what they like and don’t like about their jobs. Most (69 percent) of the respondents were food delivery drivers, while the rest (31 percent) were other kinds of couriers. While Circuit Route Planner admits that there are serious limitations to using this kind of survey data—among them, “telescoping, exaggeration, and selective memory”—the results still offer up a few important lessons. Like, for example, the fact that you shouldn’t tip-bait.If you don’t know what tip baiting is, good on ya. This is the bait-and-switch practice of changing, or even eliminating, tips after the food or product is delivered. In 2020, a group of U.S. senators asked the FTC to investigate the practice at Instacart and other shopping delivery services. The senators wrote that the people doing the work “choose which orders to take based on the expected compensation, which is largely driven by the estimated tip. By permitting customers to ‘bait’ shoppers with high tips that are then revoked, online delivery services facilitate the deception.”

    Circuit Route Planner

It’s not clear how widespread the problem is. While absolutely frustrating for delivery drivers, there are good reasons for shoppers to be able to change their tip after delivery, and more often than not, the adjustments are positive. Instacart told Today that “virtually all” of the grocery delivery tips that get changed after delivery actually increase the amount. Instacart also said it deletes accounts that frequently tip-bait.38% Have Crashed, 80% Have Eaten Some of Your FoodWhile tip baiting was one of the main problems delivery drivers have with their customers, it wasn’t the only one that makes a lot of sense. Like the fact that 78 percent of delivery drivers say they judge people based on what kinds of packages they order, or the 69 percent who said they’ve been accused of stealing packages. Thirty-eight percent said they’ve been in some sort of car accident while delivering goods. That’s a lot, but not as crazy as the 36 percent who said they’d been robbed while working. Some responses sure make being a delivery driver sound like you’re actually in a certain kind of movie. A full 25 percent of drivers admitted to hooking up with someone while on the job. And then there’s the off-putting reality that 10 percent of respondents said they urinated in bottles during the work day, and 9 percent said they’ve urinated on or around recipients’ homes. Perhaps the grossest is the nearly 80 percent of food delivery drivers who revealed that they’ve eaten some of the food they’re delivering.

Suzuki 2W Sales May 2022 – Gixxer, Access, Burgman, Avenis

Suzuki 2W reports YoY domestic sales and exports growth in May 2022, MoM sales decline marginallyImage – SouRik MotoworldSuzuki 2W sales for May 2022 are in the green. Both, domestic sales, and exports improved YoY. A sales comparison would be disparate owing to low base sales a year earlier. Back in May 2021, a severe Covid-19 wave brought things to a standstill in a desperate effort to contain pandemic spread and fatalities.Suzuki reports domestic sales in May 2022 at 60,518 units. Up from 12,513 units, volume gain is reported at 48k units. Exports stood at just over 11k units, up from 6,688 units. Volume gain stands at 4,320 units. Total sales rose to 71,526 units, up from 19,201 units. Volume gain is at over 52k units. Last month, Suzuki Motorcycle India began deliveries of V-Strom SX, a 250cc sports adventure tourer.Suzuki Motorcycle India exportsMoM total sales decline is marginal at under a percent. Total sales fell from 71,987 units. Volume loss stands at 461 units. Domestic sales are up 11 percent from 54,327 units. Volume gain is up at 6,191 units. Exports fell from 17,660 units. Sales decline is reported at 37.67 percent at volume loss of 6,652 units.Suzuki Motorcycle India is important to the brand’s global presence. In this two prong strategy, sales growth in the domestic market adds to the company’s overall sales. The manufacturer is also keen on improving on exports from India. This will benefit from a concerted effort to boost exports from India. This pertains to small capacity bikes (125cc – 300cc).Suzuki Sales May 2022 Sales growth targetSteady domestic sales over a period has seen Suzuki monthly sales edge over Yamaha and Royal Enfield on a monthly basis. The company had previously targeted yearly sales of a million units by 2020.However, 2020 took the world by surprise. And sales targets were thrown off track. Uncertainties related to the pandemic continued to raise its head in phases through 2021. In comparison, 2022 has gotten off to a stronger start. However, Covid-19 related uncertainties exist. And in recent months, supply shortage of chips and semiconductors has continued to affect manufacturing. Of course manufacturing processes are wiser for the same, but their effects continue to be felt.Supply-chain crisisCommenting on the sales performance, Mr Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd. said, “The two-wheeler industry continues to maneuver through the challenges presented by the pandemic and supply-chain crisis. Despite these testing circumstances, Suzuki Motorcycle India has witnessed a satisfactory demand, both from the domestic and overseas markets. In May 2022, we registered overall sales of 71,526 units. Meanwhile, in May, we also commenced the deliveries of our highly anticipated 250cc sports adventure tourer, V-Strom SX. We are happy to announce that this motorcycle has garnered encouraging reviews so far. It is also being appreciated for its performance on daily basis, touring capabilities and features, adding to the overall riding experience. We are thankful to all our customers, dealer partners and staff members for their continuous support and belief in the brand, Suzuki” More

Benelli Keeway 250cc Cruiser Price Likely To Be More Than RE Classic 350

Keeway K-Lite 250V offers a unique proposition of a low-slung cruiser with a V-Twin engine and a belt driveBenelli Keeway 250cc Cruiser. Image – ThrustzoneKeeway is a Hungarian brand that Chinese motorcycle manufacturer QJ Motors now own. The brand recently debuted in India with two premium scooters Sixties 300i and Vieste 300. Keeway is expected to launch K-Lite 250V in India soon and pricing for the cruiser is leaked at dealer level. The cruiser motorcycle was expected to be priced around the ballpark of Royal Enfield Meteor 350. But recent leaks reveal that prices of the upcoming cruiser by Keeway are around that of Royal Enfield’s 650 twins. Even though more mature and established products like the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 seem to crush Keeway on paper, the story is quite different in reality.Benelli Keeway 250cc CruiserKeeway in Europe is known for making motorcycles that resemble Harley-Davidson products. K-Lite 250V seems to take the same route. It has a lot of bits and parts that easily resemble Harley-Davidson’s sporty motorcycles. Despite being a typical cruiser, it gets little to negligible chrome on body, making it look new-age and sporty. The motorcycle looks like the company’s own K-Lite 125, but on steroids. It gets a chunkier seat, USD forks, fuel tank and tyres. Despite a low seat height of 715 mm, it has a decent 160 mm of ground clearance which will appeal a lot to Indians. The seat is a single-piece unit with a stepped layout. The pillion also gets a backrest.Benelli Keeway 250cc CruiserThe front suspension gets USD forks and a twin-shock setup at the rear. On the front, tyre size is a fat 120/80 wrapped around a 16” alloy wheel. At the back, it gets a 140/70 tyre wrapped around a 16” alloy wheel. Keeway K-Lite 250V also gets a single disc setup at both ends with the safety net of dual-channel ABS. In terms of features, K-Lite 250V gets LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs, LED indicators mounted on the flat handlebar, a digital instrument cluster mounted on the tank, a large 20L fuel tank and a bash plate for engine protection.Speaking of the engine, this will be the main concern for potential customers. It is a long-stroke V-twin, 249 cc, air-cooled engine that makes only 18.7 bhp @8500 RPM and 19 Nm @5500 RPM. The engine sits on a double cradle chassis and powers the rear wheel via a belt drive. In isolation, performance figures aren’t that bad. But if we bring price and competition into the equation, K-Lite 250V is blown out of the water.Benelli Keeway 250cc Cruiser PricesThe rumoured prices start from Rs. 3.5 lakh in Delhi, Rs. 3.65 lakh in Chennai, Rs. 3.7 lakh in Pune, Rs. 3.8 lakh in Bengaluru and Rs. 3.92 lakh in Hyderabad (all prices on-road). This lands Keeway K-Lite 250V straight into Royal Enfield 650 twin’s ballpark. Both Royal Enfield motorcycles make more than double the power and torque figures that Keeway’s upcoming cruiser makes.Benelli Keeway 250cc CruiserBut that’s not the whole picture. Keeway is all about providing a quintessential cruiser bike feel to the masses. It offers a V-twin engine unlike a parallel-twin engine offered by the competition. V-twin engines are more expensive and complicated to manufacture and they provide a feel and sound that parallel-twin engines can’t. Typical cruiser bikes like Harley-Davidson and Indian use V-twins for that very reason. It also gets a belt drive which has low maintenance and offers a silky-smooth ride aiding its cruising credentials. K-Lite 250V is light on its feet at 179 kg, unlike the competition. Given its low 249 cc displacement, it is expected to be frugal and if we couple this fact with the 20L fuel tank, it will have a very impressive tank range.Specs on paper fail to explain how a motorcycle feels. After all, a motorcycle is all about the feeling it invokes in the rider’s heart. For a quintessential cruiser bike feel, we think that the premium Keeway is probably worth it. Sales will be taken care by Benelli India dealer network, which is also where the Keeway motorcycles and scooters are on display.Source More

Honda Sales May 2022 – Activa, Dio, CB350, Unicorn, Shine

Honda has registered growth in domestic and exports with a 507 percent YoY increase in two wheeler sales in May 2022Image for reference.Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has seen outstanding growth in May 2022. This was volume growth of 2,95,020 units. The company will also be focusing on developing flex-fuel technologies along with fully electric two-wheelers for the Indian market.Once launched, Honda will be the second two wheeler maker in India after TVS to introduce Flex Fuel bikes. These bikes run on both petrol and ethanol. Honda does have its flex-fuel motorcycle CG150 TITAN MIX and NXR 150 Bros Mix and BIZ 125 Flex but these are not on sale in India as they are exclusive to Brazilian markets. In April 2022, Honda Two Wheeler also introduced the Gold Wing Tour bike in India. The company undertook a road safety awareness campaign in Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh) and Bongaigaon (Assam) and ran a road safety camp for children in the age groups of 8-14 in Hyderabad along with the local Traffic Police.
