New Tata Tiago Electric Launch Confirmed On World EV Day 2022

Tata Motors has chalked out an aggressive EV strategy and has already revealed its 3rd gen electric platform AVINYA2022 Tata Tiago ElectricLooking to strengthen its presence in EV segment, Tata Motors has planned to launch at least 10 new EVs in the coming years. They are currently the leading EV makers in India, with a market share of 88%. On the 2022 World EV Day, Tata Motors has confirmed the launch of a new EV – Tiago Electric.Upon launch, it will be the most affordable electric car from Tata Motors, sitting below the Tigor EV and Nexon EV in the company lineup. It is likely to get a similar battery pack as seen on the existing Tigor EV.New Tata Tiago Electric LaunchIn its current form, Tigor EV is offered with a 26 kWh battery pack. Nexon EV fares slightly better with a 30.2 kWh battery pack. Certified range is 306 km for Tigor EV and 312 km for Nexon EV. Tata Tiago Electric range is also expected to be about 300 kms on a full charge.Tigor and Nexon EV utilize the Ziptron platform, which comprises liquid cooling tech, IP67 rated battery pack and highly efficient permanent magnet synchronous motor. The cars have advanced electronics that ensure optimal efficiency and performance across varying temperatures. Upcoming Tata Tiago electric will also get similar features.[embedded content][embedded content]Onboard Tigor EV, the powertrain generates 74 bhp of max power and 170 Nm of peak torque. Nexon EV numbers are higher at 127 bhp and 245 Nm. Power and torque output of Tiago EV could be similar to Tigor. It is likely to deliver more range than Tigor, as it is smaller in size. There are unlikely to be any major changes to the styling and features of Tiago Electric. It will get similar styling as we have seen on existing Tata electric cars.Tata Tiago EV Launch PlansWill Tata Tiago Electric also get a long range version like Nexon EV Max? Well, it may not be feasible to equip the long-range version with the new Tiago electric. But if demand is there, Tata Motors may launch a long range version as well. Range of an EV can depend on various factors such as driver skills, outside temperature, traffic conditions, use of AC, etc. With the long-range versions of EVs, users can expect a higher true range.Tigor EV and Nexon EV are currently one of the most affordable electric cars in the country. This is a major factor that has made them popular. Soon, Tiago EV will be added to the list, and help boost EV sales of Tata Motors.Tigor EV current model is available at a starting price of Rs 12.49 lakh. Nexon EV prices start at Rs 14.99 lakh. Prices of the Tiago Electric could start from under Rs 12 lakh. Tata Motors has also got plans to launch Altroz Electric in the future. More

Ford BlueCruise Adds Automatic Lane Changing, Starting with Mustang Mach-E

Ford will launch version 1.2 of its hands-free driving system this fall. It will first appear on the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E before rolling out to other models. The system—called BlueCruise on Ford models and ActiveGlide on Lincolns—gains lane-changing assist, predictive speed assist, and in-lane repositioning features.Ford says the newly added features won’t be available to older vehicles via an over-the-air update, at least not yet.Ford’s hands-free cruise control technology is set to take a step forward this fall when the company adds three new features to its roster. Set to launch first on the 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E electric SUV this fall, version 1.2 of the system brings three new features, including one that aids in lane change maneuvers. Called BlueCruise on Ford models and Active Glide on Lincoln ones, the system relies on cameras, sensors, and software and allows the driver to remove their hands from the wheel while the system handles physical piloting duties. Like other hands-free driving systems available from rivals such as General Motors and BMW, the system isn’t entirely self-driving as it requires the driver to remain alert and ready to take control of the vehicle. FordThe more advanced features included in version 1.2 will require the driver to take over less often though. For example, using the new lane-change assist feature allows the driver to remain in hands-free mode by having the car maneuver to an adjacent lane simply by tapping the turn signal stalk. Ford claims the vehicle will even suggest a lane change to the driver if it detects that traffic in an adjacent lane is moving quicker than the one it’s in.The other two features are designed with driver comfort in mind. Predictive-speed assist will automatically slow the vehicle’s speed when encountering a sharp turn on the highway similar to how a human driver might and an in-lane repositioning feature tells the system to move the vehicle from the center of the lane to closer to the outside edge of the lane when passing a semi-truck.Hands-Free Ford and Lincoln ReviewsBlueCruise and ActiveGlide have worked fairly well on the few occasions we’ve sampled them, but their driving nature doesn’t feel as natural as the GM Super Cruise system. Ford says other enhancements to the system in version 1.2 have been made to improve the driver and passenger experience, and we’re looking forward to evaluating how BlueCruise has evolved. The software still only works on pre-qualified roads and highways, but Ford says over 130,000 miles of roadway in North America have now been mapped thanks to the 75,000 Ford and Lincoln owners who have been using the system since its launch. Those current owners, however, will have to wait for version 1.2. A Ford spokesman told Car and Driver that the updated features will not be pushed to older vehicles via an over-the-air update just yet. This content is imported from poll. Mahindra XUV400 Electric Debuts – Range 456 Kms, Launch Jan 2023

Mahindra seems to have one-upped Tata with a promised range of 456 km on a single chargeMahindra XUV400 Electric SUVMahindra XUV400 Electric is the company’s answer to Nexon EV range which is currently the highest-selling electric 4W in the country. Before you ask, XUV400 is not based on the INGLO platform that will underpin Mahindra’s BE and XUV.e range of electric SUVs that were unveiled on August 15th in Britain. In July 2022, 3,295 electric 4W sold in India out of which Nexon EV bagged 2,878 units with 87.34% market share. Mahindra being the OG EV adapter in India, is now stepping back into the EV ring with Tata Motors to take on this segment. In that regard, Mahindra has unveiled the XUV400 Electric today.Mahindra XUV400 Electric SUVMahindra XUV400 ElectricIn terms of design, It resembles ICE-powered XUV300. But gets a unique design of its own. Headlight units are identical to XUV300’s, but the lower bumper is different. Curves of XUV300 give way to angular and straighter cuts and creases.Like other EVs, XUV400 also gets a closed-off grille which tells that it is an EV. The main highlight is the copper coloured X patterns and roof. More copper trims have been played with and contrast really well with the blue colour of the exterior. Available in five exciting colours: Arctic Blue, Everest White, Galaxy Grey, Napoli Black and Infinity Blue with dual tone roof option in Satin Copper finishMahindra XUV400 Electric SUVMahindra seems to have taken a page from Tata’s designs and has introduced an X pattern like Tata’s tri-arrow pattern. This X pattern adorns the front closed-off grille and other parts of the SUV.Mahindra XUV400 Electric SUVWhen it comes to interiors, much of what was seen with XUV300, is retained. Which is a good thing as it was feature loaded, to begin with. Sunroof, dual zone climate control, large touchscreen with smartphone connectivity suite, adjustable steering weight, 7 airbags and a lot more.Specs & FeaturesSince Mahindra hasn’t chopped up the rear to fit sub 4m length, XUV400 looks proportionate and handsome. Boot space is improved as well which was XUV300’s Achilles heel. XUV400 measures 4.2m now and has a 2,600mm wheelbase and promises a large 368 litres boot space as well. Which is a lot better than XUV300.Mahindra XUV400 Electric SUV vs Tata NexonThe battery is IP67 water and dust protection. It has 39.4 kW worth of juice in its floor pan. It makes 310 Nm torque and the power has not been revealed by the company. Mahindra XUV400 Electric can cover 456 km on a single charge as claimed by Mahindra. It also allows single pedal technology and gets three drive modes Fun, Fast and Fearless. Coming to acceleration, it can reach a 100 km/h speed in just 8.3 seconds. Top speed is 150 kmph.Talking about competition, Nexon EV Max has an ARAI-certified range of 437 km on one full charge. It also boasts 0% to 80% charge in just around 56 minutes with a 50 kW DC fast charger. It takes only 50 minutes to complete 80% charging with the 50kW DC fast charger. When charged via a 7.2 kW/32A outlet, it takes 6 hours 30 minutes for 0-100% charge and the same is achieved in 13 hours while using a standard 3.3 kW/16A domestic socket. It gets Smartwatch connectivity with 60+ connected car features.Mahindra XUV400 Electric – Key HighlightsOn the reveal of Mahindra’s first electric SUV, Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd. said, “The Mahindra Group is committed to becoming Carbon Neutral by 2040 and our EV game plan is at the core of this mission. Dodge announced today that it is bringing out a set of Charger and Challenger limited-edition cars with the “Swinger” name.Like the Shakedown and Super Bee limited editions announced earlier, the Swingers will be Scat Pack versions of the cars with special-edition liveries and options. All Scat Pack Swingers will come in the Widebody style and can be had in F8 Green, Sublime Green, or White Knuckle exterior paint. It is likely no longer news to you that the current-generation Challenger and Charger are coming to an end. Dodge is going out with a bang with seven “Last Call” special editions of the vehicles. The 2023 Swinger Challenger and Swinger Charger are the third and fourth announced, following the previously announced Challenger Shakedown and Charger Super Bee models. The Swinger name dates all the way back to the 1969 Dodge Dart. Both Swinger models will come in the Widebody variant and with Dodge’s Scat Pack, which features a 485-hp 6.4-liter V-8. Only 1000 of each will be made. StellantisFrom Here to EternityBut this is primarily an appearance package. Much of the charm of these models comes from the 1970s-era design touches, including green-on-green exterior colors with gold accents and green stitching on the seats, dash, center console, and steering wheel. Exterior paint options are F8 Green, Sublime Green, or White Knuckle, and special “Gold School” badging will feature on the exterior along with a retro graphic on the rear fender. 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV Aims at the Heart of the Market

Chevy says the entry-level Equinox EV will start at “around” $30,000 and have an estimated 250 miles of range.Other trim levels will offer 280 to 300 miles of range and hands-free driver assistance. The Equinox EV goes on sale in fall 2023.Following the Silverado EV and Blazer EV, the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV continues to fill out the automaker’s ranks with all-electric alternatives. For the Equinox EV, that means a compact SUV that Chevy says will be priced starting at around $30,000. More expensive trim levels offer GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving, 300 miles of range, and a 19.2-kW onboard charger. The Equinox EV offers two battery sizes. Chevy hasn’t said the capacity of either, but only the entry-level 1LT trim comes with the small battery, hence its estimated range of 250 miles. Chevy estimates the large battery that powers all other trim levels to offer 300 miles of range for front-drive Equinox EVs and 280 miles when equipped with all-wheel drive. Front-drive models have 210 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque, while all-wheel drive versions offer 290 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque. The Equinox EV is built on a similar platform as the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Cadillac Lyriq, though the Equinox EV is smaller than those vehicles. Versus the gas-powered Equinox, the EV has a longer wheelbase and overall length. Its wheels are pushed close to the front and rear bumpers, creating shorter overhangs that generally make for generous interior space and more attractive exteriors. Alas, the only Equinox EV’s lower roofline impacts cargo volume. At 57 cubic feet with the rear seats folded, it has a little less space on paper than its gasoline counterpart, though we look forward to loading it with our standard size carry-ons to see if the difference is meaningful. One highlight is that the cargo floor has two height settings, like the Honda CR-V. Unlike some other electric vehicles, the Equinox EV does not have a storage area under the hood. Chevy reps said frunks are both costly to implement and don’t test well with its focus groups. Inside, all Equinox EVs come with an 11.0-inch digital gauge cluster, and an impressive 17.7-inch center touchscreen is available on most trim levels. It’s the same screen as you’ll see in the Blazer EV and Silverado EV, and while the screens in the car we sat in weren’t interactive, the graphics appeared crisp and easily readable. Interior storage options appear to be numerous and well thought out. The center console has a generously sized opening under the cupholders and the tray where you set your phone, proving enough room for a large handbag. All manner of Chevy driving assistance will be available, from adaptive cruise control to a head-up display to a rear-view camera, and so on. Most impressive though is GM’s hands-free Super Cruise system, which is available on all trim levels except for the base. As for charging, most Equinox EV models have an 11.5-kW Level 2 onboard charger, which Chevy estimates can add 34 miles of range per hour. The priciest RS trim level offers a 19.2-kW charger, increasing Chevy’s estimate to 51 miles of range per hour. All Equinox EVs support 150-kW DC fast-charging. The Equinox EV goes on sale in the fall of 2023. This content is imported from OpenWeb. 2024 Jeep Recon, Mid-Size Wagoneer S Are Brand's First U.S.-Bound EVs

The 2024 Jeep Recon and Wagoneer S are two new EV models and the brand’s first for the U.S. market. The Recon shares traits with the Wrangler, and the mid-size Wagoneer EV is different than the full-size, gas-fed Wagoneers.Jeep also revealed the Avenger, an electric subcompact SUV that won’t be sold in America.Jeep is venturing deeper into uncharted territory as it transitions into the EV era. It started with the plug-in-hybrid Wrangler 4xe and was followed by a 4xe version of the Grand Cherokee. Now, the company is introducing two new fully electric models that are set to arrive in the U.S. in 2024. Enter the Jeep Recon and Wagoneer S.Jeep’s Going ElectricRecon Inspired by WranglerJeep says the mid-size Recon inherits characteristics from the Wrangler. Not only does it have removable doors and glass but, the company says, it has “impressive” approach, departure, and break-over angles. The Recon also shares the Wrangler’s boxy shape and rear-mounted spare tire, but its square headlights and traditional fenders are obvious differences. While Jeep hasn’t revealed any specific powertrain details or exterior dimensions, it did say the 2024 Recon will have electronic locking diffs, off-road-rated tires, and underbody protection. We fully expect it to have dual electric motors, too, providing all-wheel drive. Based on the photos, we can see its retractable roof and tan-colored interior.JeepJeepA New Mid-Size Electric WagoneerWhile the electric Wagoneer S shares a nameplate with the full-size, gasoline-powered Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer, it actually has smaller dimensions that Jeep says make it a mid-size model. That makes us think it’s more like an electric Grand Cherokee. The S is also merely a placeholder until the company presumably decides on a permanent name. As with the Recon, we didn’t get many specific details about the Wagoneer EV other than claims that it’ll have 600 horsepower and an estimated range of 400 miles. One thing we can say for sure is that its exterior styling is much prettier than the full-size Wagoneers, with an illuminated seven-slot grille, sleek bodywork, and rear spoiler that’s nicely integrated into the design. Judging by the photos, it looks like the Wagoneer S will only have two-row seating.Jeep Avenger Isn’t for AmericansEarlier this year, Jeep announced it was going to introduce its first EV, which at the time we thought would be a small SUV the size of the compact Compass based on images of a little yellow ute. As it turns out, that model is the brand’s first EV, and it’s called the Avenger, but it won’t be sold in America. The Jeep Avenger is also smaller than we realized. In fact, the company says it’s smaller than the subcompact Renegade.JeepWhile the Avenger will be built in Poland and is expected to hit the streets overseas sometime early next year, the Recon and Wagoneer EV will both be built in America. However, they’ll also be sold in Europe and other markets around the world. Jeep says orders for the 2024 Recon and 2024 Wagoneer S will open early next year, with production expected to start sometime in 2024.This content is imported from poll. Ather is an electric scooter and does not need to possess PUC certificate, but still this incident took placeAther electric scooter owner gets fined for not having a PUC certificateThis is not the first time we have seen illogical challans and fines from Police department. All automobiles that are subjected to travel on roads, can be fined by Police as a part of enforcing laws. We get it. It’s their job and is much needed to keep road users in check. But when things like this pop-up, it begs the question of how enforcing should the enforcers be?Ather 450X is currently in its 3rd gen avatar. It is one of the best premium electric scooters out there to be bought. It offers a reasonable range, good performance and is consistent. Icing on the cake is that it is also one of the safer electric scooters with no history of fire hazards. Now, one Ather user recently got fined for not possessing a PUC certificate. Yeah! It is bizarre. But it happened. Let’s take a look.Ather Electric Scooter Owner FinedAn Ather Energy product is a fully electric scooter with no IC engine to combust hydrocarbons to cause pollution. That means it does not emit any gases. No Carbon Monoxide, no Carbon Dioxide, no NOX emissions and no carbon soot either.PUC certificate means ‘Pollution Under Check’. Which is proof for ICE-powered vehicles that they are not emitting any pollutants over the permissible limit set for the class of vehicle that it lays in. This limit is set by concerned authorities in collaboration with various departments and boards.Ather electric scooter owner gets fined for not having a PUC certificateYet, an Ather 450X owner from Kerala has been fined Rs. 250 for not producing a PUC certificate when demanded. Offence committed according to the challan is, “Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) not produced on demand”. Ather owner has been fined under Section 213(5)(e) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.Ather CEO ReactsThe photo has now gone viral on social media. When a twitter user tagged Ather CEO, he responded with a “Sigh”. Another user, Rohan Khare had an interesting reply – Similar incident happened with me a year ago when Ather was still not very popular in Mumbai. I replied with, “Show me the exhaust pipe on my scooter and then I will show you the PUC record that you require”. He went home without paying any fine. This is not the first time that something hilarious like this has been done by the Police. There have been cases where a car driver has been fined for not wearing a helmet. A few weeks back, a guy in Kerala was fined for not having sufficient fuel in his motorcycle. This incident was later rectified by Kerala Police. They said that the fine was not for having low fuel, but for something else. Maybe the Ather electric scooter above is yet another case of being fined for incorrect reasons.Ather CEO reacts to the viral photoThere is some confusion as to whether Policemen should be allowed to stop citizens for random checks for documentation.
