Honda 2W sales are mostly driven by Activa here in India like clockwork with a 52.25% share of total Honda domestic salesImage for referenceHonda Motorcycles & Scooters India is one of the most valuable motorcycle companies in the world. Due to its immense volume generated from domestic sales as well as exports, Honda is just a little shy of beating Hero MotoCorp, which is revered as the highest-selling motorcycle company in India for a long time.India is one the largest 2W market in the world and is of stark importance to establish dominance. Honda sold 4,23,226 units here in India with a 21,746 unit volume gain and registered 5.42% YoY growth with 4,01,480 units sold in August 2021. Not too shabby. With Activa at the helm, Honda is able to put out a lot of volumes and drive numbers forward.Honda Activa series sold 2,21,143 units registering a solid 8.05% YoY growth with volume gain standing at 16,484 units. It commands 52.25% of total Honda sales in India. Next is CB Shine with a 28.39% share. It sold 1,20,139 units and registered a de-growth of 7.53% YoY and lost 9,787 units. Most surprising is Grazia 125 which sold 8,618 units last year.Honda Exports Breakup Aug 2022Motorcycle X scooter hybrid, Navi tops Honda’s exports. Honda exported 11,934 units of Navi while registering 114.25% YoY growth. Navi makes 30.76% of total Honda exports. Unicorn isn’t chased as much in global markets and witnesses a 9.09% drop in sales.Livo shipped 1,500 units in August 2022. Grazia and Hornet 160R are not well received globally like last year and registered a 45.12% and 57.00% drop in sales YoY. Honda has shipped 800 Aviators while it is discontinued in India. Even though Activa is a coup de grace here in India, it is not a popular product globally. With just 392 units shipped, Activa exports dropped 36.16%.Showing appearance on export charts, we have CB350 with just 1 unit shipped with a 99.88% drop YoY. In total, Honda shipped 39,307 units while registering 30.53% YoY growth with 9,193 units gained in volumes. One trend to be highlighted is that Honda budget commuters are seeing a decline steadily while Hero is lapping up aggressively. More

LML Electric Scooter, EV Bikes Revealed – Launch In 2023

LML electric two-wheelers have some truly unique features that can help them stand out in a highly competitive marketplaceNew LML Electric Scooter and Bike – Star and MoonshotWith the ongoing EV revolution, LML has got a second chance to make a comeback. It was once a popular two-wheeler brand, widely known for its sporty, high-powered scooters. It had collaborations with leading companies such as Piaggio, Benelli and Daelim Motor Company.LML will start its innings in EV space with three new products. It includes an electric scooter called Star, and two electric bikes called Moonshot and Orion. All three have been officially unveiled in concept form. Launch will take place in 2023.LML electric scooter – New StarLML electric scooter Star has beefed-up front fascia, which helps achieve a rugged, maxi-styled profile. There are some unique features such as apron-mounted headlamp and dotted LED DRLs, that can display any message you want. The scooter has muscular side panels with deep grooves, which complement the scooter’s sporty vibes. It is seen with a smartphone-type instrument panel, placed at an elevated height for improved viewability.Considering the thickness of floorboard area, LML electric scooter seems to have the battery pack placed beneath the floorboard. Being centrally placed at the lowest point, it should ensure optimal control and handling for the scooter. Placement of the battery also suggests that it could be a non-removable unit.LML Star Electric ScooterOther key features include step-up seat, flat side panels and thick grab rails. In terms of hardware, the scooter has telescopic front forks and rear monoshock suspension. It gets disc brakes at both ends. Powertrain possibilities include a mid-mounted electric motor, connecting the rear wheel via a chain drive. A hub mounted motor is also possible.LML Star Electric ScooterLML electric scooter will be launched as ‘LML Star’, a name that was in use earlier for one of the company’s 150cc two-stroke scooter. There are trademark applications for other names also such as LML Orion, LML Stella, LML Bella Donna and LML Via Toscana. LML electric scooter will rival the likes of Ather, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube and upcoming Hero Vida.LML electric bikes – Orion and MoonshotLML electric bike Moonshot has a radical design, featuring a trellis frame and pedals. Both of these features have not been seen in electric two-wheeler segment. The trellis frame helps achieve a sportier profile and should enhance the bike’s ride dynamics. Battery pack is placed on the frame. Its relatively small size indicates that range will be on the lower side. Presence of pedals is another indicator that this bike is not a long ranger.LML Moonshot Electric BikeAs compared to a conventional petrol bike, LML electric bike will weigh a lot less. This will allow users to utilize the pedals in an effective manner. The pedals could be used in combination with the electric motor or manual mode when the battery is entirely drained out.In terms of design, LML electric bike seems to derive inspiration from KTM bikes. Some key features include angular headlamp, front beak, bench-style flat seat, upright handlebar, sleek turn signals, USD front forks, monoshock rear suspension and belt final drive system.LML EV launch plansSome storage space will be available inside the faux fuel tank. Speaking about the LML Orion, it is a battery powered cycle. Official specs of battery and range details have not been revealed. They are likely to be revealed near launch date next year. More

2023 Tata Tiago EV Vs Petrol Hatchbacks – i20, Baleno

When looked at a distance of 1,00,000 km, EVs come out to be significantly economical even before no-maintenance advantages kick inGasoline Cars Vs Electric Cars Under Rs. 10 LakhTata has pulled off quite a feat when it comes to 2023 Tiago EV. At Rs. 8.5 lakh (ex-sh), Tiago EV is likely to be the torch bearer for affordable EVs to follow in the future. As far as competition is concerned, Tiago EV is unrivaled. Until the Citroen C3 electric makes its appearance known.Mahindra has set its interests in electric SUVs with its EV portfolio starting from XUV400. MG is the only other possible entrant in the near future in this affordable EV space after Citroen. We have seen Air EV test mules on Indian soil too. However, it begs the question of how economical 2023 Tiago EV can be over petrol-powered hatchbacks like i20 and Baleno? With a Rs. 10 lakh budget, should you buy a Tiago EV? Or should you just buy a Baleno or an i20 instead? Let’s take a closer look.2023 Tiago EVFor starters, Tiago EV’s Rs. 8.5 lakh sticker price is introductory and is for base XE trim and goes till 11.79 lakh for XZ Plus Tech LUX Long Range Fast Charger. While Baleno starts from Rs. 6.42 lakh and goes till Rs. 9.60 lakh. i20 steers towards the pricey end of hatchback spectrum with prices starting from Rs. 7.07 lakh and goes till Rs. 11.62 lakh (all prices ex-sh).But for the sake of this comparo, we are taking automatic variants only as Tiago EV is also an automatic. Fair game! Right from the get-go, 2023 Tiago EV saves bucks as it is not subjected to RTO taxes. While the other two are. In effect, Tiago EV on-road pricing starts at around Rs. 9 lakh, Baleno’s cheapest automatic variant around Rs. 9.4 lakh and i20’s cheapest automatic is around Rs. 10.7 lakh.Tata Tiago EV PricesAlso, Tiago EV borrows 4-star crash safety from petrol Tiago, i20 gets a 3-star crash safety while Baleno is still not tested. Previous generation Baleno scored 0-star crash rating when tested by Latin NCAP. Disclaimer: On-road prices are for Karnataka state, which has among the highest RTO taxes in the country.Economy of EV vs Gasoline2023 Tata Tiago EV is offered in two battery pack options. A 19.2 kWh pack and a larger 24 kWh pack. Also, i20 is offered with a diesel option. To keep the comparo sportive, we will take a medium range Tiago EV and only petrol i20 which fit into the economics of a sub Rs. 10 lakh car which is likely to be most customers’ first-ever buy.Maruti Suzuki Baleno Delta AGS is powered by a 1.2L 4-cylinder engine that promises 22.9 km/l. Hyundai i20 Sportz 1.0 Turbo iMT gets a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo unit that promises 20.2 km/l. Tiago EV XE Medium Range promises 250 km from its 19.2 kWh battery. If we take best case scenario, Baleno consumes 4,366 litres of petrol to cover 1,00,000 km. While i20 consumes 4,950 litres of petrol.Coming to Tiago EV, it takes 400 charge cycles to cover 1,00,000 km. In Karnataka, a unit (1 kWh) costs Rs. 4.05 for the first 50 units, Rs. 5.55 for the next 50 units, Rs. 7.1 for the next 100 units and Rs. 8.15 over 200 units consumed. On average, it can be taken for Rs. 6.21 per unit consumed. 2023 Tiago EV consumes 7,680 units from the wall to travel 1,00,000 km.When translated to running costs, 2023 Tiago EV costs Rs. 47,692 to cover 1,00,000 km. Baleno costs Rs. 4,47,471 and i20 costs Rs. 5,07,325 to cover the same distance (Petrol price – Rs. 102.49, Karnataka, 29th September, 2022). Not to mention, Tiago EV only needs wear and tear parts like tyres, brake pads, discs, AC filters and a few others while Baleno and i20 need oil change, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, clutch kits, timing kits periodically on top of Tiago EV’s maintenance parts.Electric Car Or Petrol Car?If you drive 10,000 km a year, and own a car for 10 years accounting to 1,00,000 kms, 2023 Tiago EV may turn out more economical than gasoline-powered Baleno and i20. Total ownership cost (vehicle cost on road + running cost) excluding maintenance for 1,00,000 km for Tiago EV XE Medium Range turns out to be around Rs. 9.5 lakh. While for Baleno Delta AGS, it is around Rs. 13.9 lakh and for i20 Sportz 1.0 Turbo iMT, it is around Rs. 15.8 lakh. These numbers are derived from taking the manufacturer’s best-case scenario numbers and might vary in real life. Also, Baleno and i20 come with manual transmission options that come at a lower price point. If factored in maintenance costs associated with gasoline-powered cars, EVs deliver a very attractive proposition for a select segment of buyers. But there is one big gripe with EVs, especially in India. Which is the lack of robust charging infrastructure. Gasoline-powered cars can be refueled in a minute which almost feels like magic, in comparison. More

'No Time to Die' Aston Martin DB5 Raises $3.2 Million at Auction

One of the eight Aston Martin DB5 stunt cars built for the 2021 James Bond film No Time to Die sold on September 28 for more than $3 million. The sale headlined a Christie’s charity auction held in honor of 60 years of James Bond films. The proceeds of the DB5 sale go to the Prince’s Trust and the Prince of Wales Charitable Fund’s support of charities in the U.K.It may have taken the bank account of a Bond villain, but every penny of the the $3,209,773.17 spent on this Aston Martin DB5 prop car is going to charity. Aston Martin built eight prop versions of the DB5 for the 2021 Bond film No Time to Die, with each serving a specific purpose in bringing the film to life. Each prop car is uniquely modified, with this particular car featuring rotating license plates, retractable headlights, pop-out machine guns, and firing prop bomblets. Aston MartinWe had the chance to drive some of the No Time to Die stunt cars around Britain’s famous Silverstone Circuit before the movie was released. The conclusion? Like most illegal things, non-regulated movie prop cars are joyous fun as well as being fantastic to drive—even if they aren’t street legal. All proceeds from the DB5 sale were donated to the Prince’s Trust charity, which helps young people in Britain between the ages of 11 and 30, as well as the Prince of Wales Charitable Fund to support of former employees of British Intelligence Agencies and Special Forces. The DB5 may have fetched the highest bid of the evening, but it was not the only Bond car sold. A total of three Astons were sold at auction, all having been used in No Time to Die. Also sold was Timothy Dalton’s 007 car of choice: a 1981 Aston Martin V8 Vantage much like the car used in the 1987 Bond film The Living Daylights was brought back in Vantage form in the newest film and brought $692,046 at auction. The money generated from the V8;s auction was donated to the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees). Aston MartinThe third Aston sold was one of 25 DBS Superleggera 007 Editions, created by Aston to celebrate the inclusion of the Superleggera into the iconic franchise. The DBS features a plaque complete with etched signatures from actress Lashana Lynch who drove the car in the film, as well as from producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli. The DBS Superleggera 007 edition sold for $442,909 with all proceeds going to the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales. This content is imported from poll. 2023 Lamborghini Urus S Slots below Performante but Packs the Same Power

After revealing the Urus Performante earlier this year, Lamborghini has now shown the new S model. While the S is the entry-level Urus, it still makes 657 hp from its 4.0-liter V-8, the same amount as the track-focused Performante. The S also rides on an air suspension, instead of the steel springs fitted to the Performante.Lamborghini is turning the Urus SUV up to eleven for 2023 with the new Performante model, which debuted last month sporting aggressive styling and packing a more powerful V-8 engine and revised suspension. Now Lamborghini has revealed the 2023 Urus S, which replaces the standard Urus but arrives with the same 657 horsepower as the more dialed-in Performante. That represents a 16 horsepower boost over the outgoing base Urus, and the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 also spits out 627 pound-feet of torque. Lamborghini says the Urus S will hit 62 mph in 3.5 seconds, 0.2 second behind its claim for the lighter Performante. 124 mph is said to arrive in 12.5 seconds, one second adrift of the Performante but still blisteringly quick for a vehicle weighing nearly 5000 pounds. Top speed is a claimed 190 mph, and Lamborghini says the Urus S can brake from 62 mph down to a stop in around 110 feet. While the Performante rides on steel springs, the Urus S uses an air suspension, which can be set to street, track, and off-road modes. The Urus S gets a revised front bumper with horizontal grille elements replacing the hexagonal design of the outgoing model, and a new matte-black stainless steel skidplate protects the underside of the car. The hood is made from carbon fiber and features the same thin air vents as the Performante, which can be optioned in gloss black, body color, or carbon fiber. The Urus can also be specced with a carbon fiber roof, and the rear bumper adopts the sharper styling seen on the Performante, although the S lacks the small rear spoiler. More Lamborghini NewsLamborghini says the exhaust has been retuned, and the standard 21-inch wheels are joined by 22-inch and 23-inch options. The cabin also gets new color and trim options. While pricing for the U.S. market has yet to be announced, we expect the updated 2023 Urus to be a bit more expensive than the outgoing model, which starts at $229,495, when it goes on sale stateside. This content is imported from poll. 2023 BMW Lineup Overview: New 7-Series, XM, and More

A redesigned 7-series flagship sails forth with larger dimensions and gas or electric powertrains. In other large-BMW news, the iX electric SUV gains a 610-hp M60 variant, which has an EPA range of up to 288 miles and a base price of $109,895. The i4 adds an eDrive35 entry-level model with a single motor making 281 horsepower and a smaller 66.0-kWh battery good for 260 miles. At $52,395, it’s $4500 less than the eDrive40.2023 BMW i7BMW2023 BMW 7-seriesBMWChanges to the 2-series coupe are limited to updated infotainment. However, a redesigned M2 arrives in the spring, with its chassis and drivetrain borrowing heavily from the M3/M4. Details are limited, but a twin-turbo inline-six with around 450 horses drives the rear wheels via either an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual.New BMW CarsThe 3-series lineup (330i, 330e, and M340i) receives a light freshening, with crisper exterior styling and BMW’s curved infotainment display coming to all variants, including the largely carried-over M3. Prices open at$43,295. Updates to the 4-series center on the top M4 Competition model, which adds a track-focused CSL variant with 40 more horsepower (now 543), a 240-pound weight reduction, and a $140,895 price. Production is capped at 1000 worldwide. The 8-series, the M8 Competition, and the 612-hp Alpina B8 receive a modest refresh, notably an illuminated front grille and a larger touchscreen. Carbon bucket seats are available in the 617-hp M8. Art collectors can empty their pockets chasing one of the 99 special-edition Jeff Koons–designed M850i Gran Coupes that went for $350,995.The updated Z4 roadster has minor styling tweaks but unfortunately it does not follow its Toyota Supra platform-mate in offering the option of a manual transmission.BMW M goes big with the new XM SUV, which adopts the polarizing design of the similarly named concept. It squares off against the Bentley Bentayga and the Lamborghini Urus early next year with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 plug-in-hybrid powertrain producing 644 horsepower, or up to 735 hp in the forthcoming Label Red version. Close in size to the three-row X7, the two-row XM will feature a spacious back seat and a ride-and-handling balance geared more toward grand touring than track days. We’ve sampled a prototype, and despite its roughly 6000-pound weight, we found it more entertaining to drive than a few of BMW’s smaller, sportier cars. And if there’s an M on the bumper, you can bet your sweet roundel there will be a Competition version too.New BMW SUVsThe big X7 also gets a refresh with an i7-inspired front end and the curved infotainment display. The xDrive40i’s turbo inline-six is up 40 horses to 375, while the M50i model becomes the M60i, with its 523-hp twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 gaining 48-volt hybrid assistance. Prices kick off at $78,845 and range up to around $145,000 for the updated Alpina XB7, which has 630 ponies. At the opposite end of the lineup, a redesigned X1 offers a more spacious cabin. At launch, there’s only an xDrive28i, motivated by a Miller-cycle 2.0-liter inline-four good for 241 horsepower, a gain of 13. A seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox replaces the previous eight-speed automatic. Prices start at $39,595. A redesigned X2 with a sleeker hatchback shape should follow in a year or so. But for now, only the 228-hp s- and xDrive28i models continue, as the 302-hp M35i variant is on hiatus. The X3, X4, X5, and X6 SUVs, along with the 5-series sedan, see only minor changes. This content is imported from OpenWeb.
