Latest postponement is attributed to various battery safety-related updates set by MoRTH (Ministry of Road Transport and Highways). These guidelines for EV manufacturers come in light of multiple EV fires that took place across the country. Simple One rivals Ola S1 Pro, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, Hero Vida V1 Pro, Ather 450X and the likes. More

Hyundai's Stunning New Flagship Sedan Will Make You Say, Genesis Who?

Hyundai has revealed the Grandeur, a new sedan for Korea and other global markets. This is the evolution of Hyundai’s large sedan that was previously sold in the U.S. as the Azera. Its stunning design and posh interior look appropriate for for a Genesis luxury model.Hyundai doesn’t think that flagships should be exclusive to luxury brands, as that’s what the company is calling its seventh-generation Grandeur large sedan—and this newly redesigned model appears to have the presence to live up to the title. The Grandeur has been around in Korea for decades, but only two generations were sold in the U.S., where it was called the Azera and sold from 2006 until 2017. We don’t think it will be making its return to our market anytime soon, but the new model’s design makes us wish it was coming here.Few mechanical details are available at this point, but we assume that the Grandeur continues to use a transverse-engine, front-wheel-drive platform, surprising considering its dash-to-axle ratio and elegant proportions that look distinctly rear-wheel drive and premium. The slim, full-width headlight and taillight LED bars are reminiscent of other Hyundai models such as the Staria van and look modern and high-tech. The most interesting design element is the B-pillar treatment that incorporates a rear quarter window in a nod to the original 1980s Grandeur, which Hyundai recently celebrated with a restomod EV treatment. The interior looks to have a distinctly lounge-like feel, with cushy-looking seats and a minimally intrusive, flat dashboard that creates an airy cabin atmosphere. We’d guess that the new Grandeur will share its powertrains with the related Kia K8 large sedan, which offers a 296-hp 3.5-liter V-6 along with smaller 2.5-liter and turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four engines. All-wheel drive will likely be available. The Grandeur is not likely to come to the U.S., as the large sedan segment has all but died out here. But if Hyundai wants a competitor to the new Toyota Crown, a new Grandeur/Azera would surely find at least a few interested customers—as long as it doesn’t encroach too much on Genesis’ territory.More Large SedansThis content is imported from poll. New Renault Small Electric Car Off-Road Concept Debuts

Renault 4 EV’s doors get flush handles, windows are frameless and ORVMs are replaced with camerasNew Renault Small Electric Car2022 Paris Motor Show is jam-packed with new vehicles. Yesterday, we covered Jeep Avenger from the same event. Renault seems to have finally resurrected one of its OG models for 2022. We’re talking about the Renault 4 which is brought back in an EV form in 2022 known as 4Ever Trophy Concept. We say Renault 4 is an OG for the company, because it is the world’s first mass-produced hatchback. It is Renault’s first FWD family car as well. In its 30+ years long run, Renault 4 sold over 8 million units. Renault 4 was the successor of 4CV and after its production ceased, was succeeded by the Twingo hatchback.Even in terms of motorsports, the French company 4 has carved out a piece for itself. It participated in the Cross Elf Cup of France, Routes du Monde, Coupe De France Renault Cross Elf and more. Renault 4 Sinpar participated in the Paris-Dakar Rally and many other events and programs.New Renault Small Electric Car ConceptKeeping the OG Renault 4 aside, 4Ever Trophy Concept is a compact crossover in its DNA. The production-spec model of this vehicle will be closely related to the production-spec model of Renault 5 EV. The latter is set to go into production by 2025. Both of these are based on the CMF-B EV platform. This platform is believed to share half of its components with the existing CMF-B platform.New Renault Small Electric CarWhile Renault 5 is a subtle 2-door hatchback concept, Renault 4Ever Trophy Concept is anything but subtle. It gets a ton of crossover elements to make it stand out, especially when compared to Renault 5. For starters, Renault 4 EV gets 4 doors and is a visually larger product than Renault 5.New Renault Small Electric Car4Ever Trophy gets longer travel suspension which increases the ground clearance quite a bit when compared to Renault 5. Body claddings are chunky and lend it a very muscular stance. Body claddings get pink elements into them and look quite snazzy as well. When viewed from the side, the doors seem to be above its chunky body cladding, taking the sill height quite extreme. This is highly unlikely to make it to production. Boy-o-boy, it looks beefy. Doors get flush handles, windows are frameless and ORVMs are replaced with cameras. There is a rear quarter glass that should enhance visibility.New Renault Small Electric CarDesignFrom the front, we can see an illuminated Renault logo. It is flanked by stacked cube-design LED elements surrounded by LED brackets that double up as DRLs. Closer to the illuminated LED logo, we have 4 LED square elements that are likely to be styling elements. To enhance visual appeal, Renault 4 EV also gets a roof rack mounted spare wheel.Wheels lend a futuristic appeal with what looks like suspension components or dampers of some sort. Production-spec model won’t retain this as it would increase unsprung mass affecting performance. Powertrain details are not revealed. Production is likely to commence in 2024 with deliveries slated for 2025. More

Upcoming Royal Enfield Motorcycles 2023 – New Bullet, Himalayan, 650 Classic

Off all the upcoming Royal Enfield bikes mentioned above, Scram 650 is the only one that is not yet papped in IndiaUpcoming Royal Enfield Motorcycles – 650cc CruiserRoyal Enfield has come from strength to strength when it comes to sales. In September 2022, it absolutely dominated the 350cc and 500cc+ segments with very little of the pie left for rivals. Success like this, is always a scope to expand their portfolio to include new motorcycles across multiple segments. Let’s take a look at the known upcoming Royal Enfield Bikes.1. Bullet 350Most of Royal Enfield’s success is based on the foundation that is laid by Bullet 350. Being the OG of Royal Enfield’s endeavours in India, it is a name that doesn’t need an introduction. In fact, Bullet 350 name is more recognisable than its maker’s. Such is its fame. Bullet 350 will get a new J-Series engine, bringing it in line with other 350cc bikes in Royal Enfield stables.2023 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Render2. Scram 450Like Scram 411 is based on Himalayan, Scram 450 (rumoured) will be based on the new 450cc platform being cooked at Royal Enfield labs. This new platform is likely to spawn a host of other motorcycles if well received. In terms of tech, this will be better than 411cc platform and will supposedly feature a 6-speed gearbox and liquid cooling among others.3. Himalayan 450Just like Scram 450, Himalayan 450 will also be based on Royal Enfield’s upcoming 450cc platform. Unlike Scram 450, Himalayan 450 is papped with USD forks and other niceties. In terms of hierarchy, Himalayan 450 will sit above Scram 450. It is not yet known if Himalayan 450 will replace Himalayan 411. But it is prepping to rival Hero’s upcoming XPulse rumoured with a 400cc+ engine.2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 – Render4. Continental GT-R 650Continental GT 650 is currently Royal Enfield’s sportiest and arguably, prettiest motorcycle as well. With the Cafe Racer charm, it is a very desirable motorcycle for many. To make it more sportier, Royal Enfield is likely to offer a bikini fairing to this bike inspired by the Continental GT Cup bike. This might be in the form of an official accessory or a separate model in itself.5. Continental GT 650 FaceliftFor everyone that still wants a Continental GT 650 without a fairing, fret not. Royal Enfield is preparing a facelift for this Cafe Racer. This facelift will feature a new circular taillight and most-requested alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. This will increase convenience and reduce the old-world charm that spoke wheels offer. Hey, you get some, you lose some. Balance!6. Super Meteor 650 / Classic 650This bike inherits the spirit of the company’s Thunderbird just like Meteor does. With this offering, Royal Enfield will take Meteor’s long-leggedness and offer mile-munching ability of its 650cc platform. Automotive fraternity is calling it Super Meteor as it is a Meteor, but super. There was a leak of Thunderbird X 650 name from Royal Enfield’s service booking webpage suggesting the name of its production model. Classic 650 is also likely.Royal Enfield Classic 650cc7. Shotgun 650Another 650cc offering from Royal Enfield, Shotgun 650 is the production version of SG650 concept from the British brand. Even though the production version is not as eyeball-magnet as its concept, it is utterly pretty. This is likely to be a bobber version of Super Meteor 650 / Thunderbird X 650 with different ergonomics.8. Scram 650Off all the upcoming Royal Enfield bikes mentioned above, Scram 650 is the only one that is not yet papped in India. It was spied on in the UK. Unique to Scram 650, we have a brand-new header pipe that routes exhaust gases through a single exhaust. This gets a scrambler-ish design language with minimal body panels. Name is not yet official. One can expect Scram 650 to be the lightest of Royal Enfield’s 650cc stablemates owing to its single exhaust. More

New Ather 450X Electric Scooter With More Power Leaks – Is It Gen 4?

Gen 3 made 6.2 kW of peak power in Warp Mode, Gen 4 Ather 450X is rated to make 6.4 kW of peak power in Warp ModeAther Electric ScooterIf you thought that Gen 3 Ather 450X marked the height of Bengaluru-based company’s R&D department for some time, you’re in for a surprise. We have come across an NCT type approval for a new 450X. This shows Ather’s relentless approach toward pushing out new electric scooters. This new document shows 450X as the base model even though that is less likely as 450 Plus is their base model. There are two settings, which indicate Gen 4 Ather 450 Plus will be launched alongside Gen 4 Ather 450X. Let’s take a look at all the changes.Gen 4 Ather 450X Homologated?Gen 4 battery capacity is still 3.66 kWh (Nickel Cobalt based). Which was up from 2.6 kWh of 450X Gen 2. Ather seems to have incorporated beefed-up cooling systems over the Gen 3 model. A beefier casing is also a possibility. We say this because Gen 3 battery pack used to weigh 19 kg in total, while Gen 4 battery pack weighs 22 kg.Even though the battery chemistry or cells seems to be the same, Gen 4 Ather 450X will come with more oomph. How much more oomph? One might ask. Gen 3 made 6.2 kW of peak power in Warp Mode, Gen 4 is rated to make 6.4 kW of peak power in Warp Mode. Sport Mode makes 5.8 kW, Ride Mode is rated at 3.2 kW, Smart Eco Mode is rated at 2.3 kW and Eco Mode is rated at 1.9 kW in terms of peak power.Gen 4 Ather 450X HomologatedThere is a “Setting 2” that is mentioned in the document which is likely to be Gen 4 Ather 450 Plus. This doesn’t get Warp Mode and the power figures for the rest of the modes are similar to “Setting 1” which is Gen 4 Ather 450X. Continuous power is now 3.1 kW in Warp Mode, down from 3.3 kW. Range for Setting 1 is 146 km and 108 km for Setting 2 which are largely similar to gen 3 products.Dimension ChangesAther is reportedly working on a new affordable model to rival Ola S1. It will have a smaller battery and fewer features. This new development is unlikely to be the aforementioned affordable model. Ather calls this 450X which is the company’s top-spec vehicle till now. This is likely to be a generational change like we saw with Gen 3. Just too early in the life cycle.Gen 3 had zilch changes to its dimensions over Gen 2. That is not the case with Gen 4 Ather 450X. Length is similar at 1,837 mm. Width is now 739 mm over 734 mm in Gen 3. Overall height is now 1,114 mm, down from 1,250 mm of previous generation. With Gen 4 Ather 450X, wheelbase has gone up by 1 mm.Looking at these changes, Ather could have gone for 10” wheels instead of 12”. Or this new 450X could very well offer a sporty and committed posture too, owing to its revised height. Whatever it is, that is cooking at Ather’s labs, will break cover in the coming months. This upcoming electric scooter will rival Ola S1 Pro, Hero Vida V1 Pro, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube and the likes. More

2023 Porsche 911 Carrera T Returns to Delight Drivers Who Can't Afford a GT3 RS

The 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera T is intended to be an affordable, performance-minded model focused on driver engagement. The 911 T only comes as a rear-drive coupe with a back-seat delete, standard manual gearbox, and features not offered on the base Carrera. The 2023 Carrera T starts at $118,050, and opting for the PDK dual-clutch automatic or having the rear seat re-installed doesn’t cost extra.Just because someone’s rich enough to afford a Porsche 911 doesn’t automatically mean they have enough money in the bank to buy a nearly quarter-million-dollar track special like the GT3 RS. Of course, the folks who’d want such a wild, winged thing in the first place are likely the same driving enthusiasts who will get in line for the 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera T, which returns for the 992 generation as the most cost-effective way (relatively speaking) to get a performance-focused 911.The Price Is Righ(T)Starting at $118,050, the new 911 T’s price is right between the base ’23 Carrera ($107,550) and Carrera S ($124,450). Both of those prices are for the coupe because that’s the only body style the T is offered with; there’s no all-wheel-drive option, either. The Carrera T is rear-drive only, and its back seats are removed along with some sound insulation to reduce mass. Don’t worry, though, if you do want the 911’s mostly pointless rear jump seats, Porsche will re-install them free of charge.Remembering the Previous 911 TThe Carrera T’s other weight-saving traits include thinner glass, a smaller battery, and a standard seven-speed manual transmission, all of which Porsche says contribute to the T being 100 pounds lighter than the regular Carrera that’s only offered with the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic (PDK). As with the rear-seat delete, the PDK can be had at no extra cost. Better Parts Than the Base Car Either gearbox pairs with the same twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six that’s mounted in the rear of the regular Carrera. Both make 379 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque. Porsche estimates the 911 T will go from zero to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds (manual) or 3.8 seconds (automatic) on their way to a claimed top speed of 181 mph. We think both acceleration times are conservative, especially since we’ve seen a 2020 911 Carrera with the PDK hit 60 in just 3.2 ticks.Compared with the regular Carrera, the T has performance hardware that’s not even offered on the base coupe. For instance, every 911 T has a mechanical limited-slip differential with Porsche’s torque-vectoring system. It also comes standard with the brand’s active suspension (a.k.a. PASM) with specially tuned dampers. Another feature that’s not available on the Carrera but is optional on the T is rear-axle steering. A set of grey 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels are also inherited from the Carrera S, with the fronts wearing 245-section-width tires and the backs wearing wide 305s.Peer Inside the Purist’s 911The 911 T’s interior isn’t anything to write home about. In base form, its cabin is trimmed with a mix of dark grey, matte black, and glossy black accents (yawn). Its standard front seats only offer four basic adjustments. Thankfully, these buckets can be upgraded to add 18-way adjustments. If those are too luxurious for a car that’s committed to lightness, Porsche offers a set of carbon-fiber seats that can’t be had if you want back seats because of what we just talked about. For those who do want a fancier interior for their Carrera T, there are options to do so. They include a package that adds stitched upholstery, 911 logos on the headrests, and seat belts in Slate Gray or spicy Lizard Green; either of those colors can be applied to stripes on the seat inserts, too. There’s also an option to get grey or green logos and stitching on the floor mats as well as a leather wrap on the dash, doors, and center console. Porsche hasn’t said how much any of these extras cost, however. One other notable thing about the 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera T is that it’s the first one that can be customized with the company’s cool Paint to Sample program, which includes another 110 paint options. The coupe is slated to start hitting dealer showrooms in the U.S. in the spring of next year. This content is imported from poll. 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid Costs Less, Forfeits MPG for Power

The 2023 Toyota Corolla has a revised hybrid powertrain that now makes 134 hp (up 13) and 156 pound-feet of torque (up 51).The hybrid Corolla’s newfound power hurts its fuel economy, with combined EPA ratings that are between 5 and 7 mpg lower. While the hybrid now starts at $1250 cheaper than before, the rest of the 2023 Corolla lineup’s base prices rise by as much as $2315.It appears the 2023 Toyota Corolla hybrid has been hitting the gym. Its fuel-efficient hybrid drivetrain that uses an Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder gasoline engine has been revised to pump out a combined 134 horsepower and 156 pound-feet of torque. Those figures are still relatively puny, but they represent an extra 13 horses and a whopping 51 pound-feet more than 2022 hybrid models. Unfortunately for hypermilers, the penalty for the hybrid Coralla’s newfound power might be felt at the fuel pump.Required Corolla ReadingToyota earlier this year announced a bunch of updates to the 2023 Corolla family, including subtle visual tweaks and the debut of an optional all-wheel-drive system on hybrid models. However, the company has now revealed the hybrid Corolla’s EPA-rated fuel-economy estimates along with its official engine output, which is the same for front- and all-wheel-drive variants. What’s not the same are their mpg ratings. Let’s discuss.Powered Up but Hit at the PumpPreviously, the front-drive-only Corolla hybrid earned 53 mpg in the city and 52 mpg on the highway, netting an impressive combined EPA rating of 52 mpg. For 2023, the front-drive model now sees its combined EPA rating drop by 5 mpg to 47 mpg; its city and highway estimates also drop to 50 and 43, respectively. The new all-wheel-drive hybrid has even lower fuel-economy figures of 47 mpg city, 41 highway, and 44 combined. This means that the hybrid Corolla is expected to get between 5–7 mpg less in combined driving, per the EPA.While it’s a pity that the ’23 Corolla hybrid apparently isn’t as good at being a hybrid, at least it’s quicker, relatively speaking. We tested a hybrid 2023 Corolla SE with all-wheel drive that hit 60 mph in 9.0 seconds. That’s still slow, but it’s a notable 1.7 seconds ahead of a front-drive 2020 Corolla LE hybrid that took a comparatively glacial 10.7 ticks to get to 60. The all-wheel-drive hybrid also returned 40 mpg on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, just 1 mpg shy of its EPA estimate. Then again, the ’20 LE hybrid we put through the same test beat its highway rating by 4 with a result of 56 mpg highway.A Hybrid Discount But Mostly Higher PricesAlong with lower EPA ratings, the hybrid (offered only as a sedan) has a lower starting price for 2023. Toyota discounts the entry-level LE model by $1250, putting its base price at $23,895. That’s also $1250 less than the opening price of the 2023 Hyundai Elantra hybrid. The newly introduced Corolla SE hybrid starts at $26,295, and the XLE hybrid at $27,695. All-wheel drive is also available on the LE and SE models for another $1400. The other news for the hybrid variant is the debut of a special appearance package called the Infrared Edition. It adds dark-colored 18-inch wheels and racy red accents inside and out.New hybrid Corolla SE Infrared Edition.ToyotaWe also now have pricing details on the rest of the nonhybrid 2023 Corolla lineup, which loses the base L sedan and drops the previous 1.8-liter base engine. The more powerful 169-hp 2.0-liter inline-four is now standard across the board. As a result, the least expensive Corolla becomes the LE sedan that starts at $22,645—an $1125 increase over the L. The SE sedan now starts at $25,045 (up $1075); the hatchback version is up $1800 to $24,060. The XSE sedan now starts at $27,795 (up $375); the hatchback version is up $2315 to $27,525. The latter price gap is especially large since Toyota no longer offers a six-speed manual transmission on any Corolla. Well, except for the crazy Gazoo Racing version. This content is imported from poll.
