BYD Seal Electric India Website Goes LIVE – 700 Km Range

In top-spec version, BYD Seal comes with 530 bhp and 670 Nm dual motor configuration capable of sprinting 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 secondsBYD Seal Electric IndiaIf there is an EV company that probably can take on Tesla, it is definitely BYD. China’s BYD (Build Your Dreams) is one of the biggest EV makers in the world today. In India, they have two electric cars on offer currently. e6 MPV and Atto 3.After the successful launch of their first two cars, BYD is now getting ready to launch their 3rd car. At the 2023 Auto Expo, BYD showcased the Seal electric sedan. Now BYD Seal electric has made its debut on the company’s official India website. Does this mean launch is right around the corner? Let’s take a look.BYD Seal India Launch PlansBYD’s Indian website now features Seal electric sedan alongside e6 MPV and Atto 3 SUV. There is no mention of a launch timeline or pricing. We hope it is a hint at an imminent launch. But nothing is official yet. The headline figures include 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and 700 km of range from a single charge and a holy grail 50:50 weight distribution. This is possible with a large battery ranging from 61.4 kWh and 82.5 kWh. Motor configurations in global markets start from 204 bhp in RWD config and can be specced all the way to 530 bhp and 670 Nm in AWD config. If priced around Rs. 60 lakh (ex-sh), BYD Seal will rival Volvo XC40 Recharge and Kia EV6 GT Line.BYD Seal Electric IndiaSpeaking about design BYD Seal seems to have taken inspiration from Porsche Taycan. This is visible in Seal’s LED headlight shape and an interesting air intake below it. In this air intake, we get LED DRLs which are in wire-frame form. Bonnet tapers down towards the front aggressively and features power bulges, lending it a chiseled look. There is air intake for battery cooling in the lower half of the front bumper. From the side, it comes off as a rather sporty 4-door coupe sedan with a sloping roofline.BYD SEAL Electric HighlightsThis sloping roofline doesn’t go all the way to the rear. Instead, it ends much earlier and lends BYD Seal a 3-box design attribute. It is a very interesting detail. Rolls-Royce adamantly swears by this 3-box design and even implemented it on Cullinan SUV. Other design features include stylish alloys and sharp creases that almost make it look German. With EV designs, it is always ‘form follows function’. This is to minimise air drag and extract as much range as possible. Speaking of air drag, BYD Seal boasts an air drag coefficient of just 0.219 Cd. It ain’t no Mercedes-Benz EQS at 0.2 Cd. But it is still impressive nonetheless. On the inside, there is minimalism of knobs and buttons.BYD Seal Electric IndiaA giant center touchscreen and a wide instrument screen dominate the interior. Seats get quilted patterns and extend to door pads as well. Windscreen and roof are separated unlike in Tesla vehicles. But BYD Seal gets a giant glass roof, which doesn’t open. BYD Seal EV features flush door handles and smart-looking LED tail lights. More

2023 Suzuki Gixxer Updated – New Colours, Bluetooth, Prices

In pricing, Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 competes with Yamaha R15 – It offers 94cc more displacement, 8 bhp more power and 8 Nm more torque2023 Suzuki Gixxer UpdatedIf there is one sub-brand in motorcycle market in India that is really underrated, it has to be Gixxer series by Suzuki. There are two body styles and two powertrain options. Permutations and combinations yield 4 different models. Gixxer and Gixxer 250 are naked street bikes, while Gixxer SF and Gixxer SF 250 are faired sport bikes. There is a combination of factors acting against Suzuki’s Gixxer brand. Primary being looks. There have been split opinions in the past, especially with SF models. For 2023, Suzuki updates the Gixxer lineup entirely with new colours and offers Bluetooth connectivity found on V-Strom 250SX. Will this turn out to be a game-changer for Suzuki? Let’s take a look.2023 Suzuki Gixxer UpdatedFor 2023, Suzuki is hoping to turn Gixxer’s sales around. Suzuki sold just 8 units of Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 combined in December 2022. Similarly priced Classic 350 probably sells more than that in 30 minutes. Even though they’re not comparable, you get the point. In contrast, the 150cc Gixxer and Gixxer SF combined sold 649 units in Nov 2022. This is nowhere opposed to 7,427 units of R15 and 6,335 units of MT-15 sold in the same month. With MY2023, Suzuki hopes to turn that around. New colours include Metallic Matte Stellar Blue, Metallic Matte Black No.2 and Metallic Sonic Silver/ Metallic Triton Blue for Gixxer SF 250.2023 Suzuki GixxerMetallic Matte Stellar Blue and Metallic Matte Black No.2 are offered for Gixxer 250 street bike. Both 150cc Gixxer and Gixxer SF get Metallic Sonic Silver/ Pearl Blaze Orange, Metallic Triton Blue and Glass Sparkle Black options. Feature addition includes Bluetooth connectivity and a fully digital instrument console. They now get incoming call, SMS and WhatsApp Alert display and missed calls along with speed exceeding warnings, phone battery level display and the estimated time of arrival (ETA). This system is compatible with both Android and Apple devices. Also offered is turn-by-turn navigation too.Prices now start from Rs. 1,40,500 for Gixxer, Rs. 1,45,500 for Gixxer SF, Rs. 1,95,000 for Gixxer 250, Rs. 2,02,000 for Gixxer SF 250 and Rs. 2,02,500 for ECSTAR Edition named Metallic Sonic Silver/Metallic Triton Blue (prices ex-sh, Delhi).2023 Suzuki Gixxer PricesSpecs & LaunchSuzuki’s baby Gixxer lineup is derived from ‘Born Of Greatness’ DNA. But it is rather surprising how looks can decide a product’s fate. Mechanically, Gixxer series is equipped with a 155cc engine making 13.41 bhp and 13.8 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.Gixxer 250 series is equipped with a 249cc engine making 26.13 bhp and 22.2 Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Price increment for 2023 lineup is Rs. 5,700 for Gixxer 150, Rs. 8,400 for Gixxer SF 150, Rs. 13,600 for Gixxer 250 and up to Rs. 10,400 for Gixxer SF 250 (all prices ex-sh, Delhi). It is yet to be seen how this impacts on newly launched Yamaha R15 and MT-15 lineup. More

2023 Yamaha R15 Gets TFT Display, LED Blinkers, New Colour

The single-cylinder 4V, liquid cooled 155cc engine with VVA making 18.4 PS and 14.2 Nm, is retained with 2023 Yamaha R152023 Yamaha R15Yamaha’s YZF-R range of motorcycles has a huge fan following globally. Yamaha neatly incorporates a single design language across the YZF-R lineup to make them look cohesive. This family DNA is especially a great draw with smaller capacity YZF-R range like R15, R125 and the likes. They come at a cost though. Despite being considerably pricier than a few similarly specced motorcycles, Yamaha has managed to attract a lot of buyers. The company strives to better this sub-quarter-liter lineup of its sporty machines. 2023 Yamaha R15 is no exception as there are now new feature additions that up the ante, and proportionately price too. Let’s take a look.2023 Yamaha R15Yamaha R15 is the company’s flagship product in India. It comes with a plethora of mechanical enhancements like variable valve actuation (VVA), liquid cooling, slipper clutch, quick shifter (only upshifts and not downshifts) and some more. Pricing for R15M goes till Rs. 1,93,400 (ex-sh).At this price point, buyers would want some features like LED turn indicators and a TFT screen. Both of these features were missing on R15. Now, 2023 Yamaha R15M V4 gets these features. However, these features are not standard. These feature additions are only for top-spec versions based on R15M. Even now, standard R15 V4 variants get halogen indicators and LCD instrument cluster like before.[embedded content][embedded content]Thanks to K2K Motovlogs, we have a walkaround video of the same. We know that Yamaha should have offered these features from day one, at least with M variants. These additions for R15 will be associated with a price hike. Expect 2023 Yamaha R15M to cost north of Rs. 2 lakh (ex-sh). Especially in top-spec R15M trim like Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition.2023 Yamaha R15 new TFT DisplayThere is improved switchgear to better control this new TFT screen with M models. This new switchgear helps navigate through the system better. This new display is likely to be around 5” in size and shows various parameters and comes with Bluetooth connectivity and a smartphone app as well. Details about turn-by-turn navigation are still mum, though. Yamaha has also launched 2023 R15 in a new matte black colour with gold accents and gold alloys.MT-15 Gets Dual-Channel ABSAlong with R15M, MT-15 gets the same LED blinkers. But Yamaha doesn’t offer a TFT display with MT-15 Ver 2.0. Sure, Yamaha has upgraded the MT-15 with dual-channel ABS. But if you want a TFT screen, you have to shell out more and go with R15 V4. As of now Yamaha MT-15 Ver 2.0 prices go till Rs. 1,66,400 (ex-sh) after a recent price hike. With these new upgrades and new editions, expect pricing to cross Rs. 1.7 lakh mark with top-spec Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition. It is yet to be seen if dual-channel ABS on MT-15 is standard or optional. Mechanically, both R15 V4 and MT-15 are identical to previous models. The same 155cc engine with 18.4 PS of power and 14.2 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox is standard. More

2023 Yamaha MT15 Dual ABS At Dealer – First Look Walkaround

Yamaha has been able to keep its portfolio refreshed by introducing cosmetic and functional updates at regular intervals2023 Yamaha MT15 Dual ABS2023 models of Yamaha’s popular bikes such as R15, MT-15 and FZ-X have started arriving at select dealerships. It indicates that these bikes will be launched soon.Visual updates are evident in the form of new colour options and other minor touch-ups. Functional updates include dual-channel ABS for FZ-X. 2023 models of R15, MT-15 and FZ-X will also be OBD-2 compliant. With the updates, these bikes are expected to be launched at a slightly higher pricing.2023 Yamaha MT15 WalkaroundExcluding OBD-2 compliance, the focus is primarily on cosmetic enhancements in case of R15 V4 and MT-15. 2023 Yamaha R15 gets a new matte black/gold colour theme. It’s a mix of black and light grey, with contrasting golden highlights. The bike has golden USD forks and golden coloured wheels. Existing colour options for R15 V4 include metallic red, dark knight and racing blue.Yamaha MT-15 gets a new colour theme of gloss black and red. Both wheels get the red shade, whereas the golden USD forks create an exciting contrast against the largely black colour scheme. Existing colour options for MT-15 include metallic black, ice fluo-vermillion, cyan storm, racing blue and Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition. K2K Motovlogs has shared a detailed first look walkaround of new 2023 MT15 dual ABS.[embedded content][embedded content]Yamaha FZ-X gets a new matte blue colour, which seems familiar to the one used on existing YZF-R15 V4. The blue shade has been used predominantly on the fuel tank and front fender. Much of the bike has a blacked-out look including the headlamp cowl, engine, exhaust and grab rail. The bike also gets golden coloured wheels. Existing colour options for FZ-X include matte copper, matte black and metallic blue.2023 Yamaha FZ-X also gets dual-channel ABS. It is possible that Yamaha may have two versions of FZ-X, going forward. One could be similar to the existing model, whereas the other could have an updated scrambler-like profile. The latter could get features such as new windscreen, high mounted front fender and tubular steel casing for the headlight. It is not certain if both variants of FZ-X will be getting dual-channel ABS.All three bikes are expected to be OBD-2 compliant. The deadline for the same is March 31, 2022. OBD-2 primarily enforces stricter emission norms via real-time monitoring of exhaust gases. On-board diagnostics systems can detect any variations from mandated emission norms. No performance tweaksMuch of the hardware will be the same for 2023 versions of R15, MT-15 and FZ-X. R15 and MT-15 share the same 155cc, liquid cooled, SOHC, 4-valve engine. It generates 18.4 PS of max power and 14.2 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission. Yamaha FZ-X is equipped with a 149cc, air cooled, SOHC, 2-valve engine that churns out 12.4 PS and 13.3 Nm. It is mated to a 5-speed transmission. More

2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Spied – 2 Test Mules, New Details

With improved performance numbers and new features, Himalayan 450 will be a better match against rivals like BMW G310GS, KTM 390 ADV and upcoming Hero Xpulse 3002023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450Spied on road tests, Himalayan 450 is expected to debut at the EICMA 2023 that will be held in November this year. Launch in India is likely to take place next year. With the latest iteration of Himalayan, the focus is on overcoming limitations associated with the smaller capacity Himalayan 411. Furthermore, new features such as USD front forks will ensure tangible improvements in ride dynamics. Two test mules of the new 2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 have now been spied. Thanks to these, we now have a closer look at the upcoming Himalayan 450. As compared to the current model, Himalayan 450 comes across as an evolved machine. It has a contemporary design with a largely rounded appearance that’s more pleasing to the eyes. Some of the retro flavour has been retained, as evident in features such as round headlamp, rear view mirrors and instrument dial.2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 New Spy ShotsDimensionally, Himalayan 450 will be quite close in comparison to current Himalayan. Things like seat height are expected to be around 800 mm, which is kind of a sweet spot in terms of achieving optimal balance and handling. Current Himalayan is 2,190 mm long, 840 mm wide and has ground clearance of 220 mm.Riding comfort seems just right, made possible with centrally mounted footpegs and ergonomically placed handlebar. Scooped-up rider seat should be able to provide adequate lumbar support. Just like other Royal Enfield bikes, customization options will be available for Himalayan 450. Apart from USD forks, other updates could include ride modes, GPS navigation, assist and slipper clutch and ride-by-wire system.2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 SpiedIt will get a fully digital instrument cluster, a first for RE. While Himalayan 450 will be a better equipped machine, Royal Enfield will ensure that it continues to offer the price advantage. Competitive pricing has always been an USP for the company and it will be available with Himalayan 450.2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 SpiedAs compared to current Himalayan that retails at a starting price of around Rs 2.2 lakh, Himalayan 450 is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 2.60 lakh to Rs 2.70 lakh. At this price point, it will work out cheaper than most other rivals including 390 Adventure that starts at Rs 3.04 lakh. All prices Ex-sh.Himalayan 450 performance, specsWhile current Himalayan is among the popular choices in its segment, enthusiasts have often found its 24.3 bhp and 32 Nm output a bit lacking at times. It’s especially true when negotiating steep inclines combined with loose gravel or muddy conditions. Himalayan 450 can do much better, as it is expected to generate around 30 bhp and 40 Nm.2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 SpiedIt may not be possible for Himalayan 450 to match each and every feature available with rivals. For example, KTM 390 Adventure comes with features such as state-of-the-art 5-inch full colour TFT display, WP APEX suspension, offroad mode, offroad ABS, cornering ABS and traction control system. However, Himalayan 450 will definitely narrow the performance gap. Combined with competitive pricing, Himalayan 450 could emerge as another bestseller for Royal Enfield. More

2024 BMW X5 and X6 Facelift Brings Extra Power, Better Efficiency

BMW has updated the X5 and X6 for the 2024 model year, with narrower headlights and redesigned front bumpers on both SUVs.A new turbocharged inline-six boosts the base 40i models to 375 horsepower and 398 pound-feet of torque, and, along with the M60i’s 4.4-liter V-8, BMW adds a 48-volt hybrid system. The plug-in hybrid X5 xDrive 50e’s output jumps nearly 100 horsepower and should increase its electric driving range by around 10 miles. The mid-size X5 SUV was the best-selling BMW in 2022, and it now receives a host of updates for the 2024 model year, with redesigned front and rear ends, a more modern interior with a curved digital display, and a more powerful inline-six engine. The sloped-roof X6—a niche, fashion-conscious alternative to the X5—benefits from the same upgrades as its more sensible sibling, including the 48-volt hybrid system that improves the efficiency of both the inline-six and V-8 motors. We were certain that the 2024 BMW X5 and X6 would be getting the X7’s controversial split-headlight design, but BMW appears to have reversed course, opting for a more conventional look. The slimmer one-piece headlights sit either side of a revised kidney grille that looks relatively small next to the M3’s flared nostrils or the i7’s huge shield. The X5’s wider, rectangular lower intake is sandwiched by vertical vents that coax air around the fenders, boosting efficiency and giving the SUV a planted look. The X5’s taillights feature a more intricate design and the X5 now offers an illuminated grille on the 40i and 50e models. An optional M Sport package on the X5 adds a racier look with more black trim and an octagonal black lower bumper. This package is standard on the X6, and upgrading to the M60i models on both SUVs bring unique details like quad exhaust pipes, black trim, and a small rear spoiler on the X6. Inside, the dashboard looks more chiseled, with thin air vents and a simplified center console that ditches the traditional gear lever for a small toggle switch. Atop the dash is BMW’s new curved display that includes a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen on one long piece of glass, running the latest version of BMW’s iDrive operating system. A new ambient light bar glows in front of the passenger seat, and BMW also added a puddle light and pulsating welcome lights in the door opening for a little pizzazz as you enter the vehicles. The seats are now wrapped in a vegan leather-like material called Sensafin. The biggest news is more power for all of the X5 and X6’s powertrain choices. The base 40i has a new turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with increased horsepower and torque for new totals of 375 hp and 398 pound-feet of torque. The twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 in the M60i models is a new unit but makes the same 523 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque as the previous V-8-powered M50i. Both of these engines have 48-volt hybrid systems with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed automatic transmissions. xDrive all-wheel drive remains standard on all but the X5’s base sDrive40i model, which has rear-wheel drive.BMW also updated the X5’s plug-in-hybrid model to produce more power and offer greater electric range. It’s now called xDrive50e, compared with last year’s xDrive45e, and has a total output of 483 hp—nearly 100 hp more than before. This is thanks to a revised turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six gasoline engine that now uses the Miller cycle and a significantly more powerful electric motor. The battery now offers 25.7 kWh of usable capacity and BMW estimates the hybrid X5 will have an EPA range figure of around 40 miles, compared with 31 miles previously. The adaptive M suspension with adjustable dampers comes standard on both X6 models and the X5 M60i, and is optional on the X5 40i variants. The xDrive50e, meanwhile, comes standard with air suspension that is optional on other models. The M60i models come with standard rear-wheel steering, and all X5s and X6s come with 20-inch wheels, with the choice of upgrading to 21- or 22-inch wheels with performance tires. There is also an optional new Highway Assistant feature that allows for hands-free driving on highways, as long as the driver stays focused on the road and cars around them. The 2024 X5 sDrive40i’s $66,195 base price increases over the 2023 model by $3600, with all-wheel drive costing an additional $2300. The plug-in-hybrid xDrive50e will open at $73,495, about $7000 more expensive than the outgoing PHEV, while the M60i’s $90,295 starting price represents a nearly $4000 hike. The simpler X6 range sees similar increases, with the xDrive40i starting at $74,895 and the M60i going for $94,595. We don’t yet have details on the performance-oriented X5 M and X6 M versions, but they are likely to receive similar visual updates and possible powertrain enhancements. Production of the standard 2024 X5 and X6 models will begin in April of this year, and we expect to learn more about the full-fledged M models in the coming months. This content is imported from poll. Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Sets New Lightning Lap LL3 Class Record

Since we started Lightning Lap back in 2006, the LL3 pricing class has always been the sweet spot of performance, the best bang for the buck. LL2 often has more contestants, but it doesn’t quite have the firepower of LL3: German, Japanese, and American cars that seat two, four, or five. Coupes. SUVs. Sedans. LL3 has it all. And LL3 now has a new high mark in the form of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and its 2:38.6 lap.Lots More DetailWe say the best bang for the buck because European and Japanese cars have to compete with the American metal that almost always undercuts the overseas competition. Corvettes compete with Camaros, Ford Mustang GT500s, Cadillac Vs, some AMG 63s, BMW Ms, and more. We adjusted the class breakdowns this year, so LL3 now covers cars with a base price between $75,000 and $139,999. And no, we didn’t set that upper limit based on the Z06’s pricing. (Reminder, when we discuss base price in Lightning Lap stories, that price includes performance-enhancing options.)An American has always held the crown of LL3 champ. A C6 Z06 was the first (2006 model) and second (2007 model) LL3 champ, with times at Lightning Lap 1 and 2 of 3:01.1 and 2:58.6, respectively. Next to hold the belt was a Dodge Viper SRT10 in a one-off test where it dropped the LL3 time by 1.2 seconds. But then came the third Lightning Lap installment. If you aren’t familiar, check it out. There were some heavy hitters at that one, including the Nissan GT-R (LL3), Ferrari 430 Scuderia (LL5), Mosler MT900S (LL5), and the second-generation Cadillac CTS-V (LL2). Also in the group was the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR (LL3) that turned a 2:48.6, a 10.0-second improvement in LL3 cars. A sub 2:50 at that time was pretty nuts and the only thing faster was the Mosler (2:45.9). In part because that was such a big jump, the ACR remained the LL3 target until the ninth Lightning Lap, where the 650-hp Corvette Z06 (a C7) turned a 2:44.6. At Lightning Lap 14, a Mustang Shelby GT500 would exactly match it. Which brings us back to the incredible lap laid down by the new Corvette Z06. The Corvette went to a mid-engine layout so it could perform better on racetracks. Its 2:38.6 isn’t only a new LL3 record, it is the fastest lap by a car with a naturally aspirated engine and the fifth fastest in Lightning Lap history. Everything else faster is in the LL5 class and costs at least twice as much. That alone is enough for celebration. More
