1925 White Yellowstone Tour Bus Is Our Bring a Trailer Pick of the Day

This 1925 White Model 15-45 served as a tour bus in Yellowstone National Park, and needs to be hand-cranked to start.A 50-horsepower inline-four resides under the hood, and the bus can hold up to 11 passengers. There are six days before the Bring a Trailer auction ends, with bidding currently at $7500.Car and DriverThe vivid Kodachrome colors of the Grand Prismatic Spring. The tower of spray erupting from the Old Faithful Geyser. Herds of shaggy bison moseying across lush fields of green. Yellowstone National Park—comprising land in Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho—features some of America’s most stunning natural scenes. These days you can tour the park from the climate-controlled comfort of your car, but in the early 20th century, visitors were shepherded around the park in busses like the one you see here. This 1925 White Model 15-45 is one of 214 11-passenger buses used by the Yellowstone Park Transportation Company, and it is now up for auction on Bring a Trailer—which, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos.Bring a TrailerThe Yellowstone Park Transportation Company (YPTCo) was created in 1898, 26 years after President Ulysses S. Grant signed the congressional act protecting the land. The company initially used horse-drawn stagecoaches, but after securing the exclusive rights to transportation at the park in 1916, the YPTCo commissioned a fleet of sightseeing vehicles from the Cleveland, Ohio-based White Motor Company. (White’s early vehicles used steam power, and two sitting presidents, Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft, were owners.) The Model 15-45 joined the fleet in 1920, and White would go on to build busses for several national parks—including Yosemite and Grand Canyon—through the late 1930s, with Glacier still offering tours in its vintage people carriers. Bring a TrailerThis 1925 White 11-passenger bus is motivated by an inline-four that was rated at 50 horsepower back in the day—however many ponies are left are sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The 15-45 requires the use of a hand crank to start and rides on a front beam axle and a live rear axle with leaf springs. The driving controls appear similar to that of the Ford Model T, with three pedals, a floor-mounted shift lever, and stalks controlling the throttle and spark timing on the steering wheel.More Cool Auction CarsThe 11-passenger body, from an Ohio-based coachbuilder called the Bender Body Company, features four doors on the right side and fake doors on the left side, designed to stop passengers from disembarking into the middle of the road. A spare tire sits next to the driver’s seat and a body-colored trunk is strapped onto the rear of the bus. After its tour of duty in Yellowstone, this bus spent its years in Arizona and Montana, with the engine reportedly rebuilt in 2009 just before the seller purchased the vehicle. Under the current owner, the White Model 15-45 also received a repaint in the original YPTCo livery, a replacement canvas top, and a re-trim of the black vinyl seating. The gigantic Goodyear tires are showing signs of dry rot, and there are other signs of corrosion, but this amazing piece of history is in solid shape for a nearly 100-year-old vehicle. If you want to experience the great outdoors in style, there are six days left on the auction, with bidding currently at $7500. Just remember that there are no windows, so don’t get too close to the bison or the bears. More

2024 Chevy TrailBlazer Looks Spunkier and Gets Bigger Screens

Chevy is revising the TrailBlazer SUV for 2024 with styling and technology changes. The front- and rear-end designs are revised, and there are new colors and wheel designs. An 11.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system is new and standard across the board. The big news for Chevy’s 2024 small-SUV lineup is the arrival of a new Trax, but the similarly sized TrailBlazer is getting some revisions as well. With updated styling, new colors, and larger screens inside, the 2024 TrailBlazer gets a bit more appealing on the surface but remains the same mechanically. The base price is up by $1000, to $24,395, while the top RS and Activ models now start at $28,395.The new colors are Copper Harbor and Cacti Green, and the wheel designs are new, with the RS trim (pictured at top) getting a new 19-inch wheel to go along with its sportier design elements. The front- and rear-end designs are freshened, with different grilles, bumpers, headlights, and taillights. The Activ, as before, has its own grille design and bits of trim that are meant to make it look more rugged.ChevroletMore on Chevy SUVsInside, the driver is greeted with an 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster and a significantly larger 11.0-inch touchscreen in the center of the dash. This new screen is standard, and that’s a significant upgrade over the previous model, which had a 7.0-inch touchscreen standard and an 8.0-inch touchscreen optional on higher trims. The new screen offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 2024 TrailBlazer’s base engine is a turbocharged 1.2-liter inline-three with 137 horsepower, and this comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The upgrade choice is a turbocharged 1.3-liter inline-three with 155 horsepower that pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission and offers all-wheel drive as an option. This differentiates it from the Trax, which is less expensive but comes only with the 1.2L engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. This content is imported from poll. Honda Reveals New Details on 2024 CR-V Powered by Hydrogen

Honda’s next hydrogen-powered vehicle will be a plug-in version of the CR-V, arriving in 2024.Honda co-developed the new fuel cell system with GM and said it would cost just a third as much as the fuel cell stack in the Clarity while also being more durable.Honda will build 2000 units of its next-gen fuel cell system a year by 2025, but some will likely be used by industry partners. Honda’s next hydrogen-powered vehicle will be a version of the new CR-V with plug-in capability. The automaker started talking last year about this follow-up to the company’s previous H2 vehicle, the Clarity Fuel Cell, which was discontinued in 2021, and now the picture surrounding the powertrain is becoming a bit clearer.Honda Clarity Fuel Cell. HondaHonda announced in 2022 that its next-generation fuel cell vehicle, based on the CR-V, will go on sale in 2024 in North America and Japan. The hydrogen-powered SUV will use a fuel cell system co-developed with GM and will have two H2 tanks in the rear of the vehicle, an intelligent power unit under the seats and a fuel cell system and drive unit mounted as one under the front hood. The battery in the plug-in part of the equation won’t power the CR-V for too many miles and is apparently small enough that it didn’t merit space on Honda’s vague diagram of the upcoming vehicle. Honda said the hydrogen CR-V will also have a power export function.Who’s Going to Get This CR-V?Honda isn’t saying if the new H2 CR-V will be sold outside California, the only place where the Clarity Fuel Cell could be leased, but did say production of the fuel cell CR-V will begin in 2024 at the Performance Manufacturing Center in Ohio, including vehicles that will be exported to Japan.Honda remains coy about further details regarding the vehicle itself but did announce more information about the CR-V’s next-generation fuel system this week. Ryan Harty, senior manager and division lead of the energy solution business division at American Honda Motor Company, said that the new system is more than twice as durable and has “significantly faster” startup times at frigid temperatures (under -22 degrees F). Also, Harty said, compared to the fuel cell system found in the now-defunct Clarity, the next-gen system costs two-thirds less to build. That massive drop is thanks to changes in materials, like using “innovative materials” for electrodes and manufacturing specifications, as well as a plan to simply build more units.Honda never announced how many Clarity Fuel Cell vehicles it sold, although a spokesperson told Car and Driver that there had been 2116 total leases of that model in the U.S. Still, given that Honda sold only around 41,000 of all versions of Clarity vehicles during the five years it was available (most of them being the plug-in-hybrid version), the company will only have to increase production a little to improve the economies of scale. Honda said it plans to build around 2000 units of its next-gen fuel cell system a year by 2025 at the Fuel Cell System Manufacturing Center that Honda and GM run in Michigan. By 2030, Honda plans to build 60,000 units a year of either this unit or a further improved fuel cell system. Honda has not announced any development or manufacturing partners for the future-gen system (in other words, GM is not necessarily involved) but plans to make it even more powerful and cost-effective.Honda”Compared to the next-generation system, we set additional targets to reduce the cost by one-half and to double the durability,” Harty said. “We’re targeting to make the future-generation system to be comparable with diesel engines in terms of ease of use and total cost of ownership.” Looking to Spread This Technology AroundHonda said it sees fuel cell systems as vital players in a carbon-neutral society and doesn’t just want to put them in cars. The automaker is searching for partners to test them in commercial vehicles, stationary power stations and construction machinery. Harty said Honda is actively looking for partners in North America to work on fuel cell commercial trucks. Honda is currently testing hydrogen trucks in China with Dongfeng Motors and will start before April 2024 in Japan with Isuzu. In the mid-2020s, Honda will begin selling its fuel cell system to partners in the transportation and industry sectors.”Basically, our [message today] is really about announcing that the fuel cell power train is technically ready to step in and help not only Honda but other companies to achieve their carbon neutrality and sustainability goals,” Harty said. “To do that, together, we have to develop the business ecosystem and the hydrogen infrastructure around that in order for those customers to achieve their goals.”This content is imported from poll. BYD Seal Electric India Website Goes LIVE – 700 Km Range

In top-spec version, BYD Seal comes with 530 bhp and 670 Nm dual motor configuration capable of sprinting 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 secondsBYD Seal Electric IndiaIf there is an EV company that probably can take on Tesla, it is definitely BYD. China’s BYD (Build Your Dreams) is one of the biggest EV makers in the world today. In India, they have two electric cars on offer currently. e6 MPV and Atto 3.After the successful launch of their first two cars, BYD is now getting ready to launch their 3rd car. At the 2023 Auto Expo, BYD showcased the Seal electric sedan. Now BYD Seal electric has made its debut on the company’s official India website. Does this mean launch is right around the corner? Let’s take a look.BYD Seal India Launch PlansBYD’s Indian website now features Seal electric sedan alongside e6 MPV and Atto 3 SUV. There is no mention of a launch timeline or pricing. We hope it is a hint at an imminent launch. But nothing is official yet. The headline figures include 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and 700 km of range from a single charge and a holy grail 50:50 weight distribution. This is possible with a large battery ranging from 61.4 kWh and 82.5 kWh. Motor configurations in global markets start from 204 bhp in RWD config and can be specced all the way to 530 bhp and 670 Nm in AWD config. If priced around Rs. 60 lakh (ex-sh), BYD Seal will rival Volvo XC40 Recharge and Kia EV6 GT Line.BYD Seal Electric IndiaSpeaking about design BYD Seal seems to have taken inspiration from Porsche Taycan. This is visible in Seal’s LED headlight shape and an interesting air intake below it. In this air intake, we get LED DRLs which are in wire-frame form. Bonnet tapers down towards the front aggressively and features power bulges, lending it a chiseled look. There is air intake for battery cooling in the lower half of the front bumper. From the side, it comes off as a rather sporty 4-door coupe sedan with a sloping roofline.BYD SEAL Electric HighlightsThis sloping roofline doesn’t go all the way to the rear. Instead, it ends much earlier and lends BYD Seal a 3-box design attribute. It is a very interesting detail. Rolls-Royce adamantly swears by this 3-box design and even implemented it on Cullinan SUV. Other design features include stylish alloys and sharp creases that almost make it look German. With EV designs, it is always ‘form follows function’. This is to minimise air drag and extract as much range as possible. Speaking of air drag, BYD Seal boasts an air drag coefficient of just 0.219 Cd. It ain’t no Mercedes-Benz EQS at 0.2 Cd. But it is still impressive nonetheless. On the inside, there is minimalism of knobs and buttons.BYD Seal Electric IndiaA giant center touchscreen and a wide instrument screen dominate the interior. Seats get quilted patterns and extend to door pads as well. Windscreen and roof are separated unlike in Tesla vehicles. But BYD Seal gets a giant glass roof, which doesn’t open. BYD Seal EV features flush door handles and smart-looking LED tail lights. More

2023 Suzuki Gixxer Updated – New Colours, Bluetooth, Prices

In pricing, Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 competes with Yamaha R15 – It offers 94cc more displacement, 8 bhp more power and 8 Nm more torque2023 Suzuki Gixxer UpdatedIf there is one sub-brand in motorcycle market in India that is really underrated, it has to be Gixxer series by Suzuki. There are two body styles and two powertrain options. Permutations and combinations yield 4 different models. Gixxer and Gixxer 250 are naked street bikes, while Gixxer SF and Gixxer SF 250 are faired sport bikes. There is a combination of factors acting against Suzuki’s Gixxer brand. Primary being looks. There have been split opinions in the past, especially with SF models. For 2023, Suzuki updates the Gixxer lineup entirely with new colours and offers Bluetooth connectivity found on V-Strom 250SX. Will this turn out to be a game-changer for Suzuki? Let’s take a look.2023 Suzuki Gixxer UpdatedFor 2023, Suzuki is hoping to turn Gixxer’s sales around. Suzuki sold just 8 units of Gixxer 250 and Gixxer SF 250 combined in December 2022. Similarly priced Classic 350 probably sells more than that in 30 minutes. Even though they’re not comparable, you get the point. In contrast, the 150cc Gixxer and Gixxer SF combined sold 649 units in Nov 2022. This is nowhere opposed to 7,427 units of R15 and 6,335 units of MT-15 sold in the same month. With MY2023, Suzuki hopes to turn that around. New colours include Metallic Matte Stellar Blue, Metallic Matte Black No.2 and Metallic Sonic Silver/ Metallic Triton Blue for Gixxer SF 250.2023 Suzuki GixxerMetallic Matte Stellar Blue and Metallic Matte Black No.2 are offered for Gixxer 250 street bike. Feature addition includes Bluetooth connectivity and a fully digital instrument console. They now get incoming call, SMS and WhatsApp Alert display and missed calls along with speed exceeding warnings, phone battery level display and the estimated time of arrival (ETA). This system is compatible with both Android and Apple devices. Also offered is turn-by-turn navigation too.Prices now start from Rs. 1,40,500 for Gixxer, Rs. 1,45,500 for Gixxer SF, Rs. 1,95,000 for Gixxer 250, Rs. 2,02,000 for Gixxer SF 250 and Rs. 2,02,500 for ECSTAR Edition named Metallic Sonic Silver/Metallic Triton Blue (prices ex-sh, Delhi).2023 Suzuki Gixxer PricesSpecs & LaunchSuzuki’s baby Gixxer lineup is derived from ‘Born Of Greatness’ DNA. But it is rather surprising how looks can decide a product’s fate. Mechanically, Gixxer series is equipped with a 155cc engine making 13.41 bhp and 13.8 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.Gixxer 250 series is equipped with a 249cc engine making 26.13 bhp and 22.2 Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Price increment for 2023 lineup is Rs. 5,700 for Gixxer 150, Rs. 8,400 for Gixxer SF 150, Rs. 13,600 for Gixxer 250 and up to Rs. 10,400 for Gixxer SF 250 (all prices ex-sh, Delhi). It is yet to be seen how this impacts on newly launched Yamaha R15 and MT-15 lineup. More

2023 Yamaha R15 Gets TFT Display, LED Blinkers, New Colour

The single-cylinder 4V, liquid cooled 155cc engine with VVA making 18.4 PS and 14.2 Nm, is retained with 2023 Yamaha R152023 Yamaha R15Yamaha’s YZF-R range of motorcycles has a huge fan following globally. Yamaha neatly incorporates a single design language across the YZF-R lineup to make them look cohesive. This family DNA is especially a great draw with smaller capacity YZF-R range like R15, R125 and the likes. They come at a cost though. Despite being considerably pricier than a few similarly specced motorcycles, Yamaha has managed to attract a lot of buyers. The company strives to better this sub-quarter-liter lineup of its sporty machines. 2023 Yamaha R15 is no exception as there are now new feature additions that up the ante, and proportionately price too. Let’s take a look.2023 Yamaha R15Yamaha R15 is the company’s flagship product in India. It comes with a plethora of mechanical enhancements like variable valve actuation (VVA), liquid cooling, slipper clutch, quick shifter (only upshifts and not downshifts) and some more. Pricing for R15M goes till Rs. 1,93,400 (ex-sh).At this price point, buyers would want some features like LED turn indicators and a TFT screen. Both of these features were missing on R15. Now, 2023 Yamaha R15M V4 gets these features. However, these features are not standard. These feature additions are only for top-spec versions based on R15M. Even now, standard R15 V4 variants get halogen indicators and LCD instrument cluster like before.[embedded content][embedded content]Thanks to K2K Motovlogs, we have a walkaround video of the same. We know that Yamaha should have offered these features from day one, at least with M variants. These additions for R15 will be associated with a price hike. Expect 2023 Yamaha R15M to cost north of Rs. 2 lakh (ex-sh). Especially in top-spec R15M trim like Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition.2023 Yamaha R15 new TFT DisplayThere is improved switchgear to better control this new TFT screen with M models. This new switchgear helps navigate through the system better. This new display is likely to be around 5” in size and shows various parameters and comes with Bluetooth connectivity and a smartphone app as well. Details about turn-by-turn navigation are still mum, though. Yamaha has also launched 2023 R15 in a new matte black colour with gold accents and gold alloys.MT-15 Gets Dual-Channel ABSAlong with R15M, MT-15 gets the same LED blinkers. But Yamaha doesn’t offer a TFT display with MT-15 Ver 2.0. Sure, Yamaha has upgraded the MT-15 with dual-channel ABS. But if you want a TFT screen, you have to shell out more and go with R15 V4. As of now Yamaha MT-15 Ver 2.0 prices go till Rs. 1,66,400 (ex-sh) after a recent price hike. With these new upgrades and new editions, expect pricing to cross Rs. 1.7 lakh mark with top-spec Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition. It is yet to be seen if dual-channel ABS on MT-15 is standard or optional. Mechanically, both R15 V4 and MT-15 are identical to previous models. The same 155cc engine with 18.4 PS of power and 14.2 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox is standard. More
