The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch, offering smoother downshifts and better cornering control — ideal for experienced riders moving up from entry-level machines.

      The RR300 features a lightweight bassinet frame with aerodynamic fairing, compact handlebars, and a short windshield to reduce drag. Suspension duties are handled by 110 mm USD forks at the front and a 46 mm travel mono-shock at the rear, tuned for both street and sporty riding.

In fact, Honda came up with two EVs, QC1 and Activa e. Now, there seems to be a third EV that the company is developing. Only, this is not an electric scooter, but its first ever electric motorcycle. Let’s take a closer look.

      As per a leaked patent document, Honda seems to be working on its first ever electric commuter motorcycle. This development has surfaced right on the cusp of a new wave of electric motorcycles that are just breaking the surface. Right now, we already have Ola Roadster X, Oben Rorr EZ, Revolt RV and Pure EV EcoDryft.
      Now, Honda seems to be diving into this segment with a budget commuter, which could bear the name Shine in it. Say, Shine e, similar to what the naming strategy was with Activa e. We say this because the leaked patent design shows a budget commuter with what looks like a cradle chassis holding electric batteries and motor.
      These batteries are likely to be the same as the ones seen in Activa e, which are swappable at Honda’s swapping stations that are currently only present in Bengaluru and only cater to Activa e. If they are leveraging already established swapping stations, these battery packs are likely to be of the same capacity too, which is 1.5 kWh each, adding up to 3 kWh in total.

      Derived EV from Shine ICE?
      Interestingly, this would be the first electric vehicle to launch in India that might have a shared platform with an already existing ICE vehicle. Derived EVs, as we call them in electric 4W industry which is quite a common approach. We can see that this leaked patent carries a similar silhouette as that of a Shine.
      A long single-piece seat, commuter style headlight assembly, 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels, RSU telescopic front forks, twin shock absorbers at the rear and conventional tube-type handlebar are some of the notable features that one can deduce from these leaked patent designs.
      There may be a fully digital instrument cluster to show all parameters of an electric powertrain. Nothing fancy like a touchscreen display or anything else is expected. The company might price it at a premium when compared to the Shine 100 and Shine 125, which are currently among the best-selling commuters in India, only behind Hero MotoCorp’s Splendor. More

      Powering the Aprilia SR 125 hp.e is a 124.45 cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, SOHC, 3-valve engine. It generates 10.60 PS and 10.4 Nm of peak torque. This engine complies with the stricter OBD-2B emission norms. With its electronic fuel injection and 3-valve setup, the engine ensures smooth power delivery, optimal efficiency and reduced emissions. It suits the needs of city commuting, where frequent start and stops are quite common.

      New Aprilia SR 125 hp.e utilizes a CVT transmission, which is tuned for instant throttle response. This comes handy while overtaking and navigating tight urban spaces. Users can expect seamless acceleration across city streets and also when cruising at higher speeds on open roads. While official mileage figures are yet to be revealed, one can expect fuel efficiency of around 40 km per litre with the SR 125 hp.e.

      New Aprilia SR 125 hp.e retains the same body style as that of the older SR 125. However, it still manages to acquire a distinctive profile with the new colour options and refreshed livery. Colour options available with SR 125 hp.e include a monotone Matt Black shade and dual-tone options of Glossy Mazda Grey + Matt Black and Glossy Red + Matt Black.
      In comparison, the older SR 125 is available with four monotone and two dual-tone colour options. Refreshed graphics now feature broad lines on the shoulder panel, as compared to the big sized ‘a’ lettering seen in the older SR 125.
      There are other finer changes as well across the front apron and side body panels. Aprilia SR 125 hp.e continues with the sharp front fascia, powerful LED headlamps, sporty carbon finish detailing, split seat design, upswept exhaust, robust grab rail and youthful X-shaped tail lamp.
      Similar to the SR 175, the SR 125 hp.e also gets a full colour TFT display. It seems similar to the TFT seen with RS 457 and Tuono 457, but gets distinctive UI and layout options. Users can also personalize the graphics and adjust the backlighting, as per their specific needs and preferences. The TFT supports Bluetooth, allowing users to access calls, music and navigation. Riders can also access ride data to better understand their riding style and make adjustments if needed.

The starting price for Tesla Model Y in India is Rs 59.89 lakh (Ex-sh) for standard variant, which goes till Rs 67.89 lakh (Ex-sh) for Long Range variant. Both Standard and Long Range variants in India are RWD only and there is no dual-motor AWD version as of yet.
      Deliveries for Standard variant will start in Q3 2025 and Long Range variant in Q4 2025. Tesla will import Model Y into India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) and hence the higher price tag. Here, it will primarily rival BYD Sealion 7 and recently updated Kia EV6, both of which are offered with dual-motor AWD powertrain options, while still undercutting Tesla Model Y in terms of pricing.

      Both Standard and Long Range variants get a 4-year or 80,000 warranty prospect on the vehicle and 8-year or 1,92,000 km warranty on its electric powertrain (Battery and Drive Unit). Whichever is early, in both cases. Standard variant promises 500 km range and 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.9s, whereas Long Range variant promises 622 km range and 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.6s. Top speed is 201 km/h with both variants.
      Design & Features
      Where design is concerned, Tesla Model Y is a familiar vehicle, featuring an aerodynamic silhouette which is more for function than form. It gets flush door handles, sleek LED headlights and tail lights, connected LED DRL signature, large wheels, large glass area along with body cladding for that crossover SUV look.
      On the inside, most vehicular functions are controlled by the large 15.3-inch central infotainment screen and there’s an 8-inch rear central screen to control rear seat functions. Front seats are heated, ventilated and powered, while rear seats are heated and power folding. Even the AC vents are powered in Model Y, controlled using screens.
