Honda Unveils 3 New Electric SUVs – Larger Than HRV

Both e:NS2 and e:NP2 are likely to get a spec bump over e:NS1 and e:NP1 respectively – More performance and larger battery are likelyNew Honda e:NS2 Electric SUV Concept
Honda has showcased four different electric concepts at Shanghai Auto Show. These are e:N GT, e:N SUV, e:NS2 and e:NP2. Out of the four Honda concepts, e:N GT is a recurring concept vehicle, first showcased a year ago. It is a futuristic four-door electric sedan. There are no visible changes with it when compared to last year’s showcase.
e:N SUV is larger than HR-V based e:NS2 and e:NP2 electric compact SUVs. It is likely to be China-only. And could spawn into a production-spec version by the end of 2024. Production-spec versions of Honda e:NS2 and e:NP2 concept vehicles are the logical successors of e:NS1 and e:NP1 electric SUVs launched last year.
    Honda e:N GT Concept
The Two Musketeers Based On HR-V
Before diving into e:NS2 and e:NP2, we have to understand Honda’s compact SUV lineup for China. Just like there are two different CR-Vs sold in China, there are two different HR-Vs too. Unlike the two CR-Vs, both HR-Vs are not HR-V. Guangqi Honda sells North American spec HR-V as ZR-V in China. It doesn’t get any EV versions.
Then there is global HR-V, sold in China as HR-V by Dongfeng Honda. It spawns two different electric versions called e:NS1 and e:NP1 sold by Dongfeng Honda and Guangqi Honda respectively. Also, both these eSUVs are unrelated to Honda Prologue SUV for North America. Phew! Also, whatever happened to car manufacturers using words as names, huh?
Honda e:N Lineup Showcased At Shanghai Auto Show
Primary difference between the two HR-V based EVs is that e:NS1 gets body coloured front charging port cap and e:NP1 gets a gloss black finish. Both of them feature Porsche inspired tail light designs and Mustang Mach-e inspired interior layout. There is a need for design distinctions between the two and Honda is doing just that. e:NS2 and e:NP2 concepts showcased by Honda take different design paths.
When Can We Expect New Honda Electric SUVs To Launch?
e:NS2 gets arrow-like LED elements at the front reminiscent of Peugeots. e:NP2 takes a more sober approach and draws inspiration from US-spec Civic sedan. Both e:NS2 and e:NP2 are likely to get a spec bump as opposed to outgoing e:NS1 and e:NP1. Both eSUVs packed a 53.6 kWh battery in lower variants and a 68.8 kWh battery in top variants.
The 53.6 kWh battery-equipped variants got a 182 bhp and 300 Nm motor and promised a CLTC range of 420 km, while the 68.8 kWh versions got 204 bhp and 310 Nm, a range of 510 km. With both models, battery looked like it was suspended from the platform, which received criticism.
    Honda e:N SUV Concept
e:N SUV is larger than both aforementioned eSUVs. Thorough data is not yet available. Both e:N SUV and e:N GT are likely to get production-spec versions by 2025. e:N GT is not likely related to Afeela sub-brand developed by Honda-Sony JV. India launch is not likely to happen anytime soon. More

Harley Davidson X500 Launch Price 44k Yuan (Rs 5.3 L) – American Italian

The 500cc parallel-twin DOHC 8V motor on Harley-Davidson X500 is similar to Benelli Leoncino 500 with 46.8 bhp and 46 NmHarley Davidson X500
Harley-Davidson X500 has been launched in China. This comes after the launch of X350 and teaser of HD-4XX for Indian market. New X350 and X500 are China-specific for now and will likely ship to other markets in the future. Both are manufactured by China’s QJ motorcycle brand.
These are not likely to hit our shores. Harley-Davidson is strategically partnering up with local manufacturers for better market penetration. For China, it is QJ and for India, it is Hero MotoCorp. There are three colours to choose from, Dazzling Black, Vibrant Orange and Bright Silver. It costs 44,388 Yuan (approx Rs. 5.29 lakh).
Harley-Davidson X500 – The American Cousin For Chinese-Owned Italian Bike
Underneath all the American styling, Harley-Davidson X500 is a Benelli Leoncino 500. Benelli is now part of QJ. Harley X500 is an extensive badge engineering exercise between QJ and Harley-Davidson. One look at the spec sheet is enough to say that both Harley-Davidson X500 and Benelli Leoncino 500 share a lot of components.
Speaking of spec sheets, both X500 and Leoncino 500 get the same 500cc parallel twin engine. It has 4V per cylinder, a DOHC setup and a liquid-cooled architecture. This engine is capable of generating 46.8 bhp of power at 8500 RPM and 46 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. There are slight differences in dimensions, lean angles and wheelbase.
    Harley Davidson X500
Most of the componentry is similar to. Harley-Davidson X500 dons 50mm USD front forks with 124 mm travel. It even supports rebound adjustment. There is a flatter rear subframe than Leoncino 500. It is suspended by the same mono-shock unit with 112 mm travel. It gets preload and rebound adjustments. (Suspension travel is from Leoncino 500).
Engine crankcase is identical, but gets Harley-Davidson branding. Fuel tank shape is almost identical to Leoncino 500 and can hold 13L of fuel. Alloy wheels, dual barrel exhaust canister, dual 320 mm rotors with 4-piston caliper front and single 260 mm rotor with single-piston caliper rear brake setup are identical too. Switchable dual-channel ABS is present as well.
    Harley X500 Features And Specs
X500 gets a different circular LED headlight with illuminated Harley-Davidson lettering and circular turn indicators doubling as brake lights. Harley-Davidson has installed Maxxis Supermaxx tyres measuring 120/70-R17 at the front and 160/60-R17 at the rear. Fatter rubber would lend an even muscular stance.
    Harley Davidson X500 vs X350
There is a part-digital instrument console as well which looks relatively modern. Footpegs look center set, enabling an upright riding posture and neutral stance. All these are mounted on a trellis frame that looks identical to that of Leoncino 500. Harley-Davidson X500 weighs 208 kg wet. And is just a kilo heavier than its QJ-Benelli counterpart.
At Rs. 5.29 lakh, X500 would be a good addition to Harley’s Indian lineup. But we will witness the Hero-Harley HD-4XX instead. It will bear a single-cylinder engine and launch at a much lower price tag. More

2024 Lexus LM Looks Like the Ultimate Uber Americans Won’t Get

The 2024 Lexus LM debuts as the latest version of the brand’s luxury van, but it’s only sold overseas. The new LM wears snazzier sheetmetal, features a stiffer structure, and boasts an even ritzier interior.Inside, the LM offers seating for up to seven, but the four-seat option includes lounge-like chairs facing a 48-inch screen.Imagine it’s late and you’ve had one too many adult beverages. So you open the Uber app, summon a ride, and soon after a 2024 Lexus LM luxury van rolls up outside the Taco Bell where you just crushed an entire taco party pack. The LM’s sliding side door opens to reveal a palatial interior complete with a pair of lounge-like chairs facing a 48-inch screen on a partition that separates passengers in the back from those in the front. All you have to do is raise the privacy glass, sink into the comfy-looking seats with their body-temperature-sensing tech, raise the ottoman that’s been redesigned for more range, and likely fall asleep as the new van’s quieter cabin cocoons you from the outside world. Not Coming to AmericaUnfortunately, for those of us who live in America, luxuriating in the new second-generation Lexus LM that debuted at the Shanghai auto show can only be done in our imagination. While the U.S. has ultra-luxurious sedans like the Mercedes-Benz S-class and extravagant SUVs such as the Bentley Bentayga, in this country we don’t have their van equivalents like the LM.Lexus is even expanding availability of the new LM by launching it in over 60 countries, which for the first time includes Europe and Japan. Those lucky folks can enjoy the myriad improvements that accompany the van’s second generation, including a structure that’s said to be 50 percent stiffer and a new suspension designed to make the ride more comfortable and reduce vibrations. There’s also a new drive mode dedicated to rear-seat comfort by altering the dampening forces and limiting sensations caused by accelerating and braking. To help keep the LM’s cabin as serene as possible, Lexus says it prioritized quietness by reducing various noise sources—namely those caused by the road and the wind. Along with beefing up the sound deadening, the available engines and their mounts were tuned to limit noise and vibrations. Those engines are both hybrids, with one using a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and the other presumably offering more power thanks to its 2.4-liter turbo-four gas engine.Unlike Any Influencer’s VanThere’s no mistaking the LM for anything but a Lexus. The company made sure of that with what looks like one of the wildest interpretations yet of its spindle grille. Instead of outlining the shape with a defined border, Lexus lets the body color spill into the grille while also reducing the gaps between different elements. Overall, the LM measures 201.8 inches long, 74.4 inches wide, and about 77 inches high. While all of those dimensions are bigger than before, the wheelbase remains 118.1 inches. No one has to bust out the tape measure to see that the Lexus LM is a big van, and that size contributes to a similarly large interior, with considerably more space for activities than any Mercedes or Bentley. While business executives and other rich types who like to be chauffeured will want the four-seat option, the LM also offers seating for six to seven passengers.Whether basking in the glow of the van’s myriad ambient lighting themes or manipulating the climate and sunshades with one of the two available touchscreen controllers, the 2024 Lexus LM looks to provide an experience Americans won’t get to enjoy and something this country’s obnoxious influencers can’t replicate with an obligatory #vanlife. Instead, we’ll just have to settle for fantasizing about the luxurious van and its potential to be the ultimate Uber.Read About Other Forbidden VansThis content is imported from poll. MG Honors Its Heritage with Cyberster Electric Roadster for Europe

MG has revealed a new electric roadster called the Cyberster that will hit the streets of Europe in the summer of 2024.The Cyberster’s curvy design is fairly similar to that of the eponymous 2021 concept car, even keeping the wild scissor doors.Leaked Chinese government documents revealed that the Cyberster is a bit larger than a BMW Z4, and will have a top speed of 124 mph.The octagonal MG badge used to be synonymous with small, grin-inducing roadsters, from the T-Type of the ’30s and ’40s to the MGB of the ’60s and ’70s and even into the ’90s with the MG F. Now the brand—under the control of Chinese state-owned automaker SAIC since 2007—is looking to return to its roots with the new Cyberster, an electric roadster that goes on sale in Europe next summer.MGFirst previewed by a concept in 2021, the production Cyberster revealed this week at the Shanghai auto show hews closely to the concept’s design, albeit with toned-down proportions. The bodywork is sleek, with a sharply sloped front end and crisp creases that run into squared-off taillights with arrow-shaped LED elements pointing outwards. The power-folding soft-top covers a stylish interior swathed in red leather, and the production roadster retains the fantastical scissor doors from the concept.MG hasn’t officially shared detailed specifications on the Cyberster, but some information was uncovered in a filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology last week. The document listed the Cyberster as measuring 178.5 inches long, 75.3 inches wide, and 52.3 inches tall, which is about 8.0 inches longer than a BMW Z4, nearly 2.0 inches wider, and almost one inch taller. The electric powertrain, however, results in a hefty 4376-pound curb weight, versus the 3535 pounds for the gas-powered BMW. MGMore Sporty Two-Door CarsThe Cyberster will feature two electric motors, with a peak output of 201 hp from the front motor and 335 hp from the rear unit. The document also listed the top speed at 124 mph. No other performance metrics were available, but we expect a pretty quick sprint to 60 mph given the Cyberster’s power output. More details about the electric roadster will come before its launch in 2024, but unfortunately there is virtually zero chance that the Cyberster ever reaches American shores. This content is imported from poll. 2024 Hyundai Elantra N Adopts a Clean New Look

Hyundai has revealed the first photos of the refreshed 2024 Elantra N.It features the same new front end as the standard Elantra, but with some unique flourishes. We expect the updated Elantra to arrive in the U.S. later this year.It was only a matter of time before the 2024 Hyundai Elantra’s new look ported over to the sporty N model, and now we have the first official photos of the performance-oriented Elantra with its refreshed front end. We’re still waiting on mechanical details, but we’re thinking the Elantra N will keep its powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four and hopefully its choice between a manual and a dual-clutch automatic transmission.HyundaiThe new look features the same slimmer headlight shape and revised grille up front, with the N-specific red trim and larger air intakes enhancing the aggressive stance. The “H” logo on the hood is now black, and there are two new 19-inch wheel options shown in these images: one black 10-spoke design and another silver five-spoke set with a circular motif. Hyundai hasn’t released any photos of the interior, but the Elantra N may offer some infotainment upgrades and new trim options.More on the ElantraThe current Elantra N is powered by a 276-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four, and we don’t think that engine will change much for 2024. We’re hoping it’ll still offer a six-speed manual transmission as standard, with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic sticking around as an option.HyundaiHyundaiStay tuned for Hyundai to release more details on the 2024 Elantra N’s U.S. details and specs. It’ll likely go on sale on our shores later this year with a starting price a bit higher than the current model’s $34,015 entry fee. This content is imported from poll.
