TVS iQube Base Model In The Works?

Image for reference onlyAther 450S, Ola S1 Air, TVS iQube: Clash of the Affordable Electric Scooters – Battery Size, Features2W EV space is currently in a conundrum with the recent FAME II subsidy scheme revisions. The safety net of FAME II subsidy for EV makers to reach out to potential buyers with attractive pricing is now history. Manufacturers are now striving to make available more affordable models with smaller batteries to counter this.Ather and Ola are already onboard with launching less expensive variants. Now, recent reports suggest that TVS seems to be buying a ticket to board this train. A more affordable variant with fewer features seems to be the agenda. We should see similar design as iQube, with less of, well, everything. Let’s take a look.TVS iQube Pocket-Friendly Surprise: What to ExpectRevisions in FAME II subsidy include a reduction in subsidy per kWh from Rs. 15,000 to Rs. 10,000. Also, this revision brings a 15% cap for subsidies with respect to their ex-sh prices. This was pegged at 40% earlier. And is a primary reason why manufacturers are turning towards less expensive electric scooters.TVS iQube electric scooter is currently the second-largest seller in 2W EV space. TVS sold 5,253 units in June 2023, which is 15,143 units down from 20,396 units sold in May 2023, just a month before. With sales plunging dramatically, a less expensive model with the right specs should prove beneficial.TVS iQube Base Model Specs: Cloak and Dagger, Stay Intrigued! As of now, specs aren’t available. TVS currently sells two variants of its popular iQube scooter. The base Standard iQube variant and mid-spec iQube S variant. The top-spec iQube ST is still not on sale despite being announced alongside the other two. Only the top-spec iQube ST has a 4.56 kWh battery. Both variants currently available on sale feature a 3.04 kWh battery. So, if TVS is carving out a less expensive model, it will boast a battery smaller than 3 kWh. The TFT screen is non-touch with base iQube Standard. The soon likely to be base model might feature an LCD unit like on its ICE range of scooters. We hope range is not less than around 80 km in real-world use.Pricing is likely to be around Rs. 1.2 lakh (ex-sh). Base iQube Standard costs Rs. 1.55 lakh (ex-sh) and mid-spec iQube S costs Rs. 1.62 lakh (ex-sh).The Rise of the Affordable EV: TVS iQube Joins the Race – Expected rivalsTVS’ upcoming base model for iQube line will rival the likes of upcoming Ather 450S and Ola S1 Air. Ather 450S will cost Rs. 1.3 lakh (ex-sh) and Ola S1 Air starts from Rs. 85,000 with a 2 kWh battery. Price increases upto Rs 1.1 lakh for the 4 kWh battery option. Not only is Ola offering a larger 4 kWh battery with its least expensive model, but it is offering most of the techy gizmos seen in S1 Pro.Source More

Raptee Electric Bike Design Patent – Ultrviolette F77 Rival

Raptee electric bikeIn terms of performance numbers and overall expected product, Raptee electric bike will target Ultraviolette F772W EV space has seen growth in recent years. Most of this growth is in the electric scooter space. Electric motorcycles have seen fewer entrants. Raptee Electric Motorcycles intend to change that with a new offering. The brand first made its appearance at 2020 Auto Expo.Later on, we saw Raptee’s first set of prototypes trundling on the roads. Raptee’s design patent reveals what the motorcycle will look like in production-spec guise. At first sight, Ultraviolette F77 is its main intended rival. Let’s take a look.A Fusion of Styles: Street-Naked, Sportsbike Appeal – Raptee Electric Bike design patentRaptee design patent reveals a mix of a street naked and a sports machine. Akin to Ultraviolette F77. The headlight is that of a street naked motorcycle, while lower body features a fairing like a sportsbike. For the first time, Raptee electric bike headlight can be seen.It features an interesting LED DRL signature that has horizontal elements. Said fairing will get sleek LED turn indicators and by the looks of it, they double up as DRLs. Conventional LED turn indicators are visible at their conventional spots. Fairing is muscular, yet angular in design, and screams a lot of aggression.Raptee electric bike design patentFront fairing is open and this is where the radiator will sit for optimum battery cooling. Instrument screen will double up as a faux fly screen. There are no clip-on handlebars and ORVMs are run of the mill. There are split seats, and split grab rails. Prototypes were seen with chain drive and custom aluminium swingarms.Production version might retain them. The concept, and patent feature USD telescopic front forks, while first set of prototypes had RSU front forks. Single disc setup is present at both ends.Performance on Point: Accelerating 0-60 km/h in Under 3.5 Seconds – What will it pack?Electric motorcycle space is still young, unlike electric scooter space. At the entry level end, we have Pure EV ecoDryft, Odysse Vader and the likes. At mid level, we have Tork Kratos, Matter Aera, HOP OXO and the upcoming Oben Rorr. But there is a premium upper tier electric motorcycle segment where Ultraviolette F77 is currently moving along as a sole offering. This is the party that Raptee will crash, accompanied by Magron Novus. Raptee electric bike features a battery large enough to cover 150 km of real world range. Top speed is 135 km/h and acceleration figures include 0 – 60 km/h in under 3.5 seconds. 0 – 80% charge comes in to 85% (promised) with a CCS2 charging socket. All of these numbers point towards Ultraviolette F77. We hope Raptee tackle Ultraviolette in terms of pricing. As of now, F77 costs between Rs. 3.8 lakh and 5.5 lakh (ex-sh). More

2024 Ford Maverick Towing Capacity and Configurations Detailed

Small truck, big goals. The 2024 Ford Maverick can tow up to 4000 pounds when properly equipped, and people are taking advantage of the compact pickup’s power on this front. The problem is that most Maverick configurations can tow only 2000 pounds, as you need AWD and Ford’s 4K Tow package to really load up the trailer.Competitors can do more—the Hyundai Santa Cruz can tow up to 5000 pounds—but we don’t need another towing arms race on this front. Let small trucks be small trucks.Ford had an unsurprising hit when it released the more right-sized Maverick pickup in late 2021 as part of the welcome compact-truck revival trend. Despite these vehicles’ smaller sizes, small-truck owners still want to do big-truck stuff sometimes, and the Maverick appears to be delivering. When we first took a 2022 Maverick through its paces, we found it to be just enough truck. The unibody design, also seen in the Hyundai Santa Cruz, provided a workable balance between size and capability. The 2023 model added an optional Tremor Off-Road package, among other minor updates like different exterior paint colors. Engine choices are a hybrid with a 191-hp 2.5-liter engine and a 250-hp 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo. For 2024, the 2.0-liter becomes the standard engine choice, with the hybrid becoming a $1500 option. The 2024 Maverick can tow up to 4000 pounds, but most configurations can only tow 2000 pounds. The Tremor package, for example, is limited to 2000 pounds. In fact, any Maverick with the newly optional 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain is stuck at the lower capacity, but even the 2.0-liter engine is only rated at the higher capacity with the optional 4000-pound Tow package ($745) and all-wheel drive ($2220). So while the Maverick technically starts at $24,995 for the XL, to get a truck capable of towing 4000 pounds means you’ll have to shell out at least $27,690.More DetailsThe Tow package changes a few details in the powertrain, including lower axle gear ratios (from 3.63:1 to 3.81:1), a transmission oil cooler, a higher-capacity radiator, and an upgraded cooling fan. The package can only be applied to the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims, meaning it’s excluded from the Tremor. Of course, the maximum 4000-pound level is the headline number here. It’s a decent number that can be used to sell some trucks—the Maverick can tow 500 more pounds than the Ford Escape, for example—but it’s not at the same level as the Santa Cruz or the bigger Honda Ridgeline (both of which can tow up to 5000 pounds). To tow that much in a Maverick, as mentioned, you need to have all-wheel drive, which reduces fuel economy to, at best, 24 mpg without a trailer. Every vehicle is a collection of compromises, but when you read what people are doing with their Mavericks, there’s a lot to be said for this specific way of threading the needle. This content is imported from poll. 80,000 Nissan Leaf EVs Recalled over Risk of Unintended Acceleration

Nissan is recalling more than 80,000 Leaf EVs in the U.S. to fix a problem with the vehicle control module software. As reported by Bloomberg News, the problem could cause sudden acceleration after exiting cruise control or could cause the electric motor to stop functioning during driving. The recall affects several Nissan models and nearly a million total vehicles in countries outside the U.S., but in this country only the 2018 through 2022 model Leaf is affected, Nissan said.Nissan will be recalling 2018 through 2022 Leaf EVs to fix a problem with the vehicle control module. Reportedly the problem can cause a short circuit that could make an electric motor stop while the vehicle is being driven or could cause sudden vehicle acceleration after exiting cruise control.A Nissan spokesperson described the issue to Car and Driver this way: “When certain actions are taken immediately after turning off the cruise control (including Intelligent Cruise Control and Pro-PILOT), some e-POWER and electric vehicles may experience unintended acceleration.” The spokesperson did not elaborate on what the “certain actions” were other than to say: “These actions were discovered in internal vehicle testing and are not normally performed in the real world. Nissan has not received any reports of issues or accidents.” Worldwide, several Nissan models produced between 2017 and 2023, totaling nearly a million vehicles, are included in the recall, but in the U.S. only the Leaf is affected. Nissan said the recall will include 80,952 U.S. Leaf EVs from model years 2018 through 2023. A Nissan spokesperson told Car and Driver that the company will install updated vehicle control module software, which will require owners to bring the vehicles to a dealer. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not yet published documentation on the recall, but owners of potentially affected Leaf EVs can check the Nissan recall website or the NHTSA recall site to see if their vehicle is affected. Honda Revo X Facelift in India – Patent Perfection

Honda Revo X facelift patented in IndiaWhile Supra GTR 150 is a more tech-laden and performant offering, Honda Revo X Facelift is a no-frills mid-range underbone scooterFollowing the launch of the MY23 Dio 125, it now appears that Honda India has patented a new scooter. India is one of the largest motorcycle and scooter markets in India. And its logical that Honda will aspire for a scooter portfolio that’s updated and in keeping with current trends. The patent is for the Honda Revo X Facelift underbone scooter. While it could launch in the Asian subcontinent, or Honda is routinely protecting its IP (intellectual property) in the world’s largest 2W market? Let’s take a look.Honda Revo X Facelift scooter Inside the Patent VaultSupra range comprises underbone scooters that the company sells in ASEAN markets like Indonesia. There is a 150cc model, Supra GTR 150, and a 125cc model, Supra X 125. Revo X scooter too, which sits below Supra range. The one Honda patented in India looks like it is a slightly re-designed version of outgoing Honda Revo X . There are slight differences in body panels in the new patent as opposed to outgoing model. It is a proper underbone scooter with a spine in its floorboard and has 17” alloy wheels.Honda Revo X facelift patent detailsHero Honda tried their luck in this segment with Street 100. Most don’t recall the Street 100 anymore as it never struck teh right chord. As of now, Okinawa Okhi-90 is the only underbone-type scooter. But it has a flat floorboard and boasts 16” alloy wheels. In India, scooters are popularly used as unisex vehicles. Underbone scooter design slightly hinders usability for saree-clad users. Honda is highly unlikely to launch Revo X Facelift in India. Underbone scooters can be generalized as motorcycles with under-seat storage. This sort of vehicle was never popular in India. What does it pack – Supra, GTR, and Revo X in a Single Honda ScooterMaybe because Supra GTR 150 has both Supra and GTR in its name, it is more tech-laden. It has a DOHC setup with a 4V per cylinder configuration and a 6-speed gearbox as well. This liquid-cooled engine displaces 149.16cc and it generates around 16 bhp and 14.2 Nm of torque.Honda Supra X 125 only has Supra in its name. The 124.89cc engine that generates around 10 bhp of power and 9.3 Nm of torque. It lacks fancy equipment and packs a 4-speed gearbox. It seems that Supra X 125 is not GTR enough. But Revo X is a step below that and packs a 109.17cc engine with 8.8 bhp and 8.7 Nm, mated to a 4-speed gearbox. This powertrain is likely to remain with facelifted model as well.Honda Revo X facelift vs outgoing modelDid you ever dream of buying a Toyota Supra? One with a 2JZ-GTE twin-turbo setup? Or even buy a Nissan GT-R? Well, you can buy both Supra and GTR in one scooter which ironically, Honda sells. Kudos to the clever name trademarking strategy by Honda Indonesia. Good job! More
