It is possible that launch was delayed due to the pandemic. Now, a new product is scheduled to be unveiled on August 23, 2023. Based on teasers, it is expected to be the production version of Creon concept electric scooter.TVS has released a new teaser that gives hints about the scooter’s front fascia. It appears to be a lot sportier in comparison to existing iQube. With words like ‘thrill’, TVS could be hinting at a performance-oriented premium lifestyle product. If that’s the case, TVS new electric scooter will take on rivals such as Ola S1 Pro, Ather 450X and Simple One.TVS Creon-based electric scooter – new detailsUpcoming new electric scooter from TVS will have a vertically positioned headlamp. As may be recalled, Creon concept e-scooter had a similar setup. The scooter will have a dominating street presence, similar to that of maxi-scooters. In the teaser, one can also get hints of the sporty apron, DRLs and indicators. More details will be revealed in the coming days.It remains to be seen how much of the original Creon concept is retained in the production version. There are likely to be some changes, keeping in mind the practicalities of everyday riding. But one thing is certain that TVS new scooter will be a real head turner on the streets. Test mules spotted on road tests have revealed that the scooter has beefed-up proportions.New TVS Electric scooter headlampFiner details of TVS new electric scooter are hard to decipher due to the full camouflage of test mules. As revealed at the 2018 Auto Expo, Creon e-scooter had sharp panelling, wide handlebar, blacked-out headlamp casing, sporty graphics, dual-tone colour and sleek tail section. The scooter has thick, comfy seat, which should ensure optimal comfort for both rider and pillion.New TVS Electric scooter digital colour screen showing 105 – Is 105 kmph top speed?Another teaser reveals state of the art features, including an all new digital colour screen. But a lot has changed in the last five years.New TVS Electric scooter – Remote lock / unlockFor example, Ola S1 Pro takes just 4.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 kmph. Similar performance is achievable with Simple One as well. Assuming that TVS is looking to raise the bar with its new electric scooter, things like acceleration, top speed and range will have to be among the best in segment.Talking about top speed, Ola S1 Pro can reach 116 kmph in Warp mode. Simple One and Ather 450X have top speed of 105 kmph and 90 kmph, respectively. In terms of range, Simple One leads the pack with 212 km. Ola S1 Pro is next with 181 km. TVS King Electric, King Kargo Electric Trademarks Registered

Image for reference onlyWheels of Change: TVS Aims to Electrify the 3W Market. TVS King Electric, King Kargo Electric likely to feature the same powertrainBajaj and TVS are some of the leading 3W manufacturers but aren’t present in the top Electric Three Wheeler manufacturers list. Bajaj has developed and launched electric 3Ws, CV and electric Rickshaw (tuk tuk) in India already. So, it is obvious that TVS would want to sell e3Ws. Two electric 3W CVs from TVS are in development.TVS currently sells King Rickshaw and King Kargo 3W CV in India. Both without an electric variant. However, TVS King Electric and King Kargo Electric are trademarked as seen in the images below. Status for said trademarks state ‘Formality Chk pass’ and is likely to go live soon.TVS King Electric trademarkTVS King Electric, King Kargo ElectricOf the traditional name brands, Mahindra is the leading name in electric 3W segment with 18,608 units sold in FY 2023. Bajaj has launched Bajaj RE E-TEC 9.0 electric rickshaw and Maxima Kargo E-TEC 9.0 electric 3W CV in India with an 8.9 kWh battery. Also, Maxima XL Kargo E-TEC 12.0 with an 11.8 kWh battery.Mahindra is fortifying its 3W EV portfolio too with recently launched e-Alpha Super along with e-Alpha, Treo and Zor Grand, e-Alpha Cargo range. If TVS eyes the electric rickshaw and electric 3W CV segment, it would go up against these mainstream 3W EV manufacturers, and an ocean of startups.TVS King Kargo Electric trademarkConsidering the primary rivals, we would wager that TVS will have to compete at the highest level to make an impact in this space. For example, Bajaj’s E-TEC 9.0 range gets an 8.9 kWh battery, a 2-speed automatic gearbox for enhanced range and an onboard charger for convenience.Speaking of range, E-TEC 9.0 platform promises 178 km of range from a single charge, while E-TEC 12.0 platform promises 183 km of range on a single charge. Mahindra’s products are much more modest with range between 80 km and 130 km from a single charge.TVS Charges Up: Expected range, features and pricingAnticipate the TVS King Electric and King Kargo Electric to showcase a practical range tailored for intracity last-mile mobility tasks. Potentially up to 150 km—coupled with the inclusion of an onboard charger. Availability of a choice between a soft top or a hard top for the King Electric rickshaw are expected.Additional attributes such as high-profile tubeless tyres, weather-proofing, comfortable seat cushioning, decent instrumentation could feature. Potentially a handful of rudimentary telematics features for remote powertrain monitoring.Load capacity ranging from approximately 300 kg to 500 kg for the King Kargo Electric would be logical. As for pricing, it could be introduced at a starting point of around Rs. 1.5 lakh for a variant with a smaller battery and limited features, while a version equipped with an ample battery and more features might be positioned around Rs. 3 lakh. The anticipated timeline places the launch in the year 2024. More

BYD Seagull Electric Car (Tiago EV Rival) – Trademarked In India

BYD SeagullBYD Seagull comes with a 38 kWh battery pack with a claimed 405 km of range – It is likely to be priced in the Rs 10 lakh rangeBYD is the leading electric car manufacturer in the world. Not only their electric cars are in demand, but their Blade Battery cells are also in equally high demand. Mahindra has revealed that their upcoming range of electric SUVs will be powered by BYD’s Blade battery. BYD is a Chinese car brand which sells Atto 3 electric SUV in India. They have plans to launch new electric cars in India. In a previous post, we have covered BYD Sea Lion trademarked in India. In this post, we will take a look at another BYD product that the company has trademarked in India. Of course we’re talking about BYD Seagull that is currently making a lot of noise globally, for the VFM (value for money) quotient that it brings to the EV segment.BYD Seagull trademarkedBYD Seagull TrademarkedIn China, BYD has priced it between CNY 78,000 and CNY 95,800 at launch. This roughly translates to around Rs. 9.4 lakh and Rs. 11.4 lakh respectively. But considering price wars in the Chinese EV market, they usually retail for much less. Price seems to be alright. However, it will lend new perspectives as soon as we bring powertrain numbers into the equation. It gets a 38 kWh battery that is good enough for a claimed 405 km of range. There is a 70 kW motor (94 bhp) and the top speed is 130 km/h. Unlike MG Comet (rebadged Wuling Air EV), BYD Seagull is a proper practical EV with five-door layout and genuine space in rear seats.BYD Seagull interiorBYD Seagull measures 3780 mm long, 1715 mm wide, 1540 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2500 mm. This puts it directly in line against India’s best selling electric car – Tata Tiago EV’s dimensions. Unlike the Tiago EV, BYD offers a tonne of flash value as well. There are projector headlights, connected LED tail lights, and stylish alloy wheels with rear disc brakes too.[embedded content]On the inside, BYD Seagull is a tech fest with a 5-inch instrument console and a 12.8-inch main infotainment screen. Features include a flat-bottom steering wheel with audio controls, a smart layered dashboard, a powered driver’s seat, a neatly integrated wireless charging pad and more. Will it launch in India?Just because BYD has trademarked it in India, it is not confirmation that we will see Seagull on our roads soon. If that was the case, Honda should have had a robust 2W lineup in India. But we are optimistic for the world’s largest EV maker to see India as a future potential market and launch more affordable vehicles to fortify its grounds.BYD Seagull is a part of the company’s Ocean Series consisting of Sea Lion SUV (recently trademarked), Dolphin and Seal sedan (showcased in India). Seagull gets BYD’s e-platform 3.0 skateboard and if launched in India, we can expect more products with this platform in the future. More

2023 Pebble Beach and Monterey Car Week Live Blog

It is Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance time again, when the most expensive cars in the world migrate to the coastal town of Monterey, California, accompanied by their owners, and followed by those who dream of owning them. The week leading up to the concours is a rush of themed shows, from little tiny autos to powerful racetrack legends. Flitting about like the monarchs the area is famous for are streams of classics and exotics sporting one-of-a-kind bodywork and rare engine options. It is, without a doubt, the most jaw-dropping car-spotting of the year. Michael Simari|Car and DriverWe’ve sent a few of our lucky editors to brave the traffic and the funny-colored trousers to bring you the best of Monterey Car Week. Check back from now through the weekend for updates leading up to the Concours d’Elegance on Sunday, August 20.Michael Simari|Car and DriverWednesday: The ArrivalsThursday tends to be the busiest day on the highway from Los Angeles to Monterey, but we set out in the wee hours this Wednesday morning in order to make it to a few of the earlier events. On the way up you can always tell who, as Lenny Kravitz says, is gonna go your way. Car and DriverElana Scherr|Car and DriverThe Little Car ShowMonterey Car Week is all about big numbers, from auction results to hotel room tabs, but the festivities start off small, at the Pacific Grove Little Car Show. Pacific Grove neighbors Monterey, but it’s more suburban, with a charming main drag that’s perfect for lining up wee machines and taking a sunny stroll. 2023 marks the 13th year of the Little Car Show (with one year off during 2020), and there were so many itty-bitty cars that the show spilled out into the surrounding streets, with Peels, Messerschmitts, and MGs parked all over the neighborhood. If you’re curious as to how little a little car has to be, it’s really a little engine show, with a recently raised cap of 1800 cc (that’s almost two soda bottles’ worth of power, pals). “We considered doing it by wheelbase,” an organizer told me, “But nobody knows their car’s wheelbase.” I suggested taking a page out of the airline carry-on book and having a “Car Must Fit in This Space” template that participants must drive through. So maybe that will be next year. I’ll report back, as I’m hoping to sneak my 2.0L Opel GT in despite its cheater engine.Follow Along from Home More

Danish Automaker Zenvo’s Latest Supercar Is the V-12 Hybrid Aurora

Zenvo, a small Danish supercar builder, has revealed a new model featuring a hybrid V-12 powertrain called the Aurora at Monterey Car Week. Two hybrid setups are available—one pairs the V-12 with a single motor for 1450 hp while the other adds two additional electric motors on the front axle for 1850 hp.The Agil variant is more focused on lap times, sporting aggressive aerodynamics, while the Tur is designed more for eating up on-road miles.Since 2009, a small Danish firm called Zenvo has assembled a series of dramatic-looking mid-engined supercars powered by massive V-8 engines in extremely limited quantities, including the TSR-S and its bonkers rear wing that pivots both up and down as well as side to side. Now Zenvo has revealed its latest creation at Monterey Car Week, a V-12 hybrid hypercar called the Aurora.Zenvo AutomotiveZenvo says the Aurora—named for the aurora borealis natural light phenomenon—is the lightest and most powerful road car they’ve built, built around a carbon fiber monocoque chassis with a claimed dry weight under 3197 pounds. Behind the cabin sits a quad-turbocharged 6.6-liter V-12 that revs to 9800 rpm and churns out 1250 horsepower. Developed by Mahle Powertrain, 90-degree V-12 uses a “hot-V” configuration with the turbochargers placed between the cylinder banks. The Aurora will be sold in two versions—a tamer, road-focused Tur model and a more aggressive Agil variant—which each pair the V-12 to a different hybrid system. The Agil is rear-wheel drive and uses a single 200-hp electric motor to bump total output to 1450 hp, while the Tur comes with all-wheel drive courtesy of two more 200-hp electric motors at each front wheel. This 1850-hp setup is also offered on the Agil and produces a combined 1254 pound-feet of torque versus the rear-drive setup’s 1033 pound-foot total. Zenvo AutomotiveThe power flows through a seven-speed gearbox that incorporates the rear-mounted electric motor and is controlled by paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. The Tur is tuned for smoother gearshifts while the Agil’s gear changes are said to be more “mechanical.” The transmission also incorporates an electronic differential, while the front electric motors act as a torque-vectoring system. The two models sport distinct looks—the Tur is sleek and streamlined while the Agil is adorned with all manner of aerodynamic doodads. Zenvo says that the Agil, which comes in at 2866 pounds, can rip to 62 mph in an estimated 2.5 seconds and can reach 186 mph in just 10 second en route to a 227 mph top speed. Although the Tur is less focused on track performance and features a richer interior, its slipperier profile helps it hit 60 mph in 2.3 seconds and shave a second off of the sprint to 186 mph, with a claimed top speed of 280 mph.Zenvo AutomotiveThe Agil’s straight-line performance is likely held back by the substantial rear wing that can shift forward to act as an air brake and apply even more downforce when slowing for a corner. Zenvo claims the the Agil’s splitter, diffuser, and wing combine for 1940 pounds of downforce at 155 mph. Inside, the Agil is far more spartan than the Tur, with lightweight upholstery for the seats and doors and glimpses of the carbon-fiber chassis peeking through. The Tur’s cabin looks far more finished and additional sound proofing should help it feel more like a grand tourer than a track toy. Zenvo will build only 50 units for each Aurora model, with production kicking off in 2025 and the first Auroras being delivered to their owners in 2026. There’s no word on price, but the Aurora certainly won’t be cheap given that the 2019 TSR-S cost a cool $1.6 million.More Obscure SupercarsThis content is imported from poll.
