Regardless, Hero has achieved just that and is now shifting the gaze from budget commuters, to motorcycles higher up the price range. A premium dealer lineup like Maruti’s Nexa is in the pipeline as well, with more than 100 outlets planned in 2024.Collectively, Hero seems to be making a lot of efforts towards premium bikes, especially when the launch of Karizma XMR 210 is this close. The latest teaser for Karizma XMR 210 shows some design attributes and launch date, which is set on 29th August, 2023. Karizma XMR could be the embodiment of ‘Hero’s are remembered, but legends never die’.New Hero Karizma LED SignatureLatest Hero Karizma XMR TeaserThe company used #LiveTheLegend in the teaser, which is likely to be the new tagline for Karizma XMR 210. For context, OG Karizma R and Karizma ZMR had ‘Jet Set Go’ and ‘Above All’ as their taglines. Hrithik Roshan advertised for both Karizma R and Karizma ZMR. So, Hero has naturally chosen Hrithik Roshan as a promoter for Karizma XMR 210.The Bollywood star is also pushing some content on his social media handles regarding this upcoming motorcycle. This new teaser doesn’t show a lot of details. It is quite short and only highlights some of the bike’s LED headlight. Earlier we got to see its sharp and aggressive fuel tank and 3D metallic Karizma badging that indicate sophistication. The leaked image from a recent dealer showcase shows a lot more details, without any camouflage. A previous teaser reflected the same, highlighting the bike’s side profile. We can see some of the bike’s componentry. Like the front suspension setup is RSU telescopic, there are petal discs for braking with better heat dissipation, stylish alloy wheels and more. All these components will be on-board a new tubular chassis that should strike the right balance between lightness and rigidity. Trellis or diamond type, only launch will reveal. Speaking of, Hero will launch it on 29th August 2023 and will be on offer as the brand’s flagship. The best fully-faired bike of its class?Even though specs are under wraps, we can see a liquid cooling setup with this brand-new 210cc engine. Considering there are two channels going to the head in patents, we can expect a DOHC setup too. Rumour mill suggests possibility of a 6-speed gearbox. Because rivals get it, dual-channel ABS could be a possibility as well.Just like Xtreme 160R 4V, we can expect Karizma XMR 210 Pro in the future with USD forks. In recent spy shots, we can see a larger instrument screen and improved switchgear as well. Power figures could be in the range of 25 bhp and 30 Nm, pitting it against Bajaj Pulsar RS 200 and its KTM counterpart RC 200. Pricing could be below Pulsar RS 200 at around Rs. 1.6 lakh (ex-sh). Tesla Launches New Universal Wall Connector Level 2 Charger for Both J1772 and NACS Plugs

Tesla has introduced a new Universal Wall Connector with a built-in adapter for both Tesla (NACS) and J1772 plugs for EV charging. The Universal unit also allows control and monitoring of charging history and energy use via the Tesla app, a feature new to the Wall Connector. Its $595 price is slightly higher than the current Wall Connector, it’s available for order now, and Tesla says it will start shipping in October.Today Tesla announced a new Universal Wall Connector, a Level 2 EV charger that’s intended for home use as well as in Tesla’s 40,000-strong public Level 2 chargers it refers to as destination charging. This means that owners of any non-Tesla EVs will be able to use this latest Tesla charging equipment without a separate adapter. With a critical mass of automakers recently announcing that they will be switching from the J1772 plug to Tesla’s NACS receptacle in the 2025 timeframe, this isn’t a surprising move. Now Tesla stands not only to benefit from non-Tesla owners paying to charge at its Superchargers, but also will potentially sell a lot more home-charging units. Meanwhile, the other big players in home charging, such as ChargePoint, are rushing to add Tesla’s NACS plug to their offerings. What’s DifferentThe new unit looks almost identical to its third-generation Wall Connector that is currently on sale, and all the specs carry over as well, with two key differences. The first is a built-in adapter to allow seamless switching between plugging in to a vehicle with Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) plug, which is currently found only on Teslas, and the round, J1772 plug that is used to charge nearly every other EV in the U.S. This is similar to the so-called Magic Dock adapter the company has built into some of its latest Supercharger stations to be able to be able to fast charge non-Tesla EVs. The other major change is that, through the Tesla app, users will be able to schedule or stop and start charging and view charging history and energy usage for the first time. TeslaThe current Wall Connector already has Wi-Fi connectivity for firmware updates and to be able to network multiple units together to share power from the same circuit without exceeding a peak programable power draw. While Tesla owners can monitor their charging history through the car and a third-party app such as TeslaFi, there’s currently no option for non-Tesla owners to track their charging, something that has kept the Wall Connector from being our top pick in our EV charging test.TeslaTeslaCost and When You Can Get OneTesla currently sells Wall Connectors with either the NACS ($475) or J1772 ($550) plugs, while the price of the new Universal unit is up slightly, to $595. Both the current and new Universal Wall Connector have a maximum output of 11.5 kW, a 24-foot cable that is thinner than those of the competition, and come only as a hardwire option.More on ChargingThe Universal Wall Connector is available to order now, and while Tesla says the app functionality won’t launch until late August or early September, that shouldn’t matter, as the company says the new units will start shipping in October. Tesla is sending us one to try, so we’ll be back with a review soon.Director, Vehicle TestingDave VanderWerp has spent more than 20 years in the automotive industry, in varied roles from engineering to product consulting, and now leading Car and Driver’s vehicle-testing efforts. Faraday Future Finally Delivers First Production-Spec FF 91 Electric SUV

Faraday Future, an EV startup based in California, has announced that it has delivered its first FF 91 2.0 Futurist Alliance, a 1050-hp electric crossover. The automaker has had a troubled past, with years of financial challenges delaying deliveries as Faraday Future sought more funding. The company says it is “actively signing purchase agreements” with more potential customers for the $309,000 SUV.Faraday Future has faced constant struggles since unveiling its electric FF 91 crossover at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2017. There were lawsuits from suppliers and a factory in Las Vegas that never materialized, and the company’s founder filed for bankruptcy in 2019. But Faraday Future reemerged in 2021 by going public on the Nasdaq stock exchange, and the embattled startup now says it has finally delivered its first production vehicle, handing over an FF 91 2.0 Futurist Alliance at a recent event.Deliveries of the FF 91 were originally slated to begin in 2018, but financial troubles continually delayed the car. Faraday Future acquired its factory—a former Pirelli tire plant—in Hanford, California, in late 2017 and claimed to have built its first “production intent” prototype in February 2022. But the initially delivery target of late 2022 was pushed back yet again as the company sought additional funding. Now it appears that Faraday Future finally has solid footing, securing enough money earlier this month to start deliveries of road-ready FF 91s.Faraday FutureFaraday Future provided a photo of the smiling customers with their new machine and said this first owner is affiliated with Private Collection Motors, a luxury car dealership in Costa Mesa, California. However, Faraday Future’s delivery process is shrouded in marketing jargon, with the company describing itself as “the pioneer of the Ultimate Intelligent TechLuxury ultra spire market in the intelligent EV era” and referencing its prospective customers as “spire users” and “Developer Co-Creators.” First Owner or First User? The choice of the word “user” instead of “owner” in Faraday Future’s press release make us question whether this initial FF 91 was paid for or is being gifted or loaned. The so-called “Developer Co-Creator” title appears to involve turning the customers into partners to boost the value of the company, granting early access to the car in return for “consulting, branding, and other arrangements with FF in exchange for fees ranging from approximately $225,000 to $475,000,” according to the company.More EV Startup NewsThe first FF 91 to be delivered was a special edition model called the 2.0 Futurist Alliance, which costs $309,000 before the destination charge. The FF 91’s 142.0-kWh battery pack is rated for an EPA-estimated 381 miles of range and feeds three motors that churn out 1050 horsepower, rocketing the FF 91 to 60 mph in a claimed 2.3 seconds.Faraday Future says it is “actively signing purchase agreements” with more customers and says each of its “spire users” will receive “unique and unparalleled . . . customized delivery ceremonies.” We will continue to keep a close eye on Faraday Future as the automaker continues its slow rollout of the FF 91, and we hope to get our hands on an example soon. This content is imported from poll. Mahindra Thar Electric SUV Debuts – Longer Wheelbase, Increased GC

Mahindra Thar Electric SUV Debuts. Image – Auto TodayMahindra Thar electric will not be based on ladder frame platform – It will be based on Mahindra INGLO platformAfter much anticipation, Mahindra has unveiled Thar electric SUV concept today. At the same event, Mahindra has revealed the new Scopio N pikup concept. They have also announced plans to to electrify Bolero and Scorpio as well. In all, there will be a full range of Mahindra EVs – Thar.e Bolero.e, Scorpio.e, XUV.e, and lastly, BE (Born Electric Range).Except for BE products and Thar.e, rest of the range could be entirely derived from their ICE counterparts. This is to strike an effective price and expand its EV portfolio without channeling a lot of money into redesigning every single bit. Thar.e holds a special place as it is based on one of the most popular products in India right now.Mahindra Thar Electric SUV DebutsMahindra Thar.e – Makes way for success, in silenceAs of now, Thar is a ladder frame SUV with rugged off-roading credentials. Electrifying ladder-frame vehicles is very difficult. Instead of making Thar electric on the ladder frame platform, Mahindra has decided to make it on the INGLO P1 platform.Mahindra Thar.e will get both 3-door and 5-door layouts. Wheelbase will vary between 2,775 mm and 2,975 mm and the ground clearance will get a shot in the arm with up to a staggering 300 mm. This is because battery is at the floor and higher ground clearance is its greatest insurance policy. Front and rear overhangs will be kept minimal.Mahindra Thar Electric SUV DebutsMahindra Thar.e prototype at the event in Cape Town, South Africa looks like a military vehicle and reminds me of a TUV300. But in a good way. The overall boxy design screams function over form and is reminiscent of proper old-school SUV DNA. The front is squared-off and side is pretty flat too. Front fascia radiates a muscular aura with a lot of aggression.Mahindra Thar Electric SUV DebutsWindshield is still small and upright, seems like Hummer was the inspiration here. Exposed door hinges reveal a strong character. There are three LED elements in the grill, flanked by two Square LED DRL signatures. Massive wheels and aggressive pattern tyres grab attention. Spare wheel is on the rear tailgate.Thar.e concept showed, was in 5-door layout. There could be a 3-door one with production-spec version as well. This concept takes standard ICE Thar’s butchness to a whole new level. Rear tail lights mimic the LED DRL signature on the front. Roof is pretty much flat, and could allow overlanding projects that owners might venture into, given that this is a lifestyle vehicle.Mahindra Thar Electric SUV DebutsBoth 3-door and 5-door versions will share the same battery and dual motor arrangements. Launch could be much ahead in the future than we expected. We say this because Mahindra has a packed schedule and fitting all products in the timeline at once could be difficult. So, the phase-wise launch timeline includes XUV.e8 slated for December 2024, XUV.e9 for April 2025, BE.05 for October 2025 and BE.07 for April 2026. Mahindra didn’t mention launch timeline for Thar.e. So, launch could go beyond 2026 or even in 2027.Same powertrain as XUV.e8?The INGLO platform now houses Blade and Prismatic cells from BYD, instead of Volkswagen’s MEB platform. The new LFP cells from BYD seem to offer the right characteristics that Mahindra was looking for. Going with Thar’s off-road worthy name tag, Thar.e is highly likely to get 4WD setup with the help of two motors, driving each axles. The front motor will not offer the full-fat performance of rear motor.Image Source More
