iPhone 14 & 15 Can Call AAA Even If You Don’t Have Cell Service

AAA’s Roadside Assistance service is a lifesaver for enthusiasts and normal drivers alike. Being able to get a tow, jump, or splash of fuel when your car is stranded is essential, and it’s a key reason that most people on our staff keep their AAA memberships active. The only problem is that when you need it most—in a remote area, without anyone to help—you may not have cell service and end up stuck regardless. That is, unless you have an iPhone 14 or 15. In its keynote address announcing the new iPhone lineup on Tuesday, Apple announced that last year’s Emergency SOS via Satellite function is getting an upgrade. Owners of last year’s iPhone are already able to request emergency services, call search and rescue, or send their location to a friend.Apple But soon, owners of iPhone 14 and 15 models will also be able to connect to AAA via satellite. They’ll be able to message the nation’s largest roadside assistance provider and report whether they are locked out, out of fuel/charge, have a flat, are unable to start the car, or are stuck. AAA notes that it does not do off-road recovery, though, so don’t think they’ll rescue you from the backcountry trail you promised your buddy you could handle. If you’re on a road, though, the roadside assistance service will be covered by your normal plan’s terms. If you’re not a AAA member, you can pay per use of the service. Apple includes two years of Emergency SOS Via Satellite with all new iPhone 14 and 15 purchases.Reviews EditorArguably the most fickle member of the Road & Track staff, Reviews Editor Mack Hogan is likely the only person to ever cross shop an ND Miata with an Isuzu Vehicross. 2024 Nissan Frontier Hardbody Edition Starts at $42,095

Nissan has revealed the Frontier Hardbody Edition, which it teased earlier this month. The retro-inspired truck features cool 17-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, and a sport bar. The $3890 package is available on the SV Crew Cab 4×4 trim, giving the Hardbody Edition a starting price of $42,095.The 2024 Nissan Frontier Hardbody Edition arrives as a throwback-inspired model that harks back to the original Hardbody from the 1980s and ’90s. Nissan teased the truck earlier this month, and now it has revealed details and pricing. Unsurprisingly, the production version of the mid-size pickup truck looks nearly identical to the Project Hardbody concept that debuted at the 2022 Chicago auto show, though Nissan’s choice of tire has changed. The Hardbody package is only available on the SV Crew Cab 4×4 trim, which starts at $38,205. Adding the $3890 package pushes the price to $42,095. The production version of the truck is shown here with red paint like the OG version. It also has cool 17-inch wheels that mimic the originals. The hardcore BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires from the teaser are gone and have been replaced by a less aggressive set of Hankook Dynapro AT2 all-terrain tires. Apart from the tire swap, almost all of the visual alterations for the throwback edition make their way to the production model. Black overfenders, a front skid plate, and some special decals round out the visual changes. A sport bar is mounted behind the cab, but it lacks the lights seen on the concept. For 2024, Nissan also adds a new SL trim for crew-cab models. It’s a more comfort-focused trim that adds LED lighting, leather-appointed seating, and a 10-speaker Fender audio system. Pricing for the SL starts at $40,975, while the base S trim starts at a much lower $31,105.More on the HardbodyThis content is imported from poll. Android Auto Adds Zoom, Amazon Prime Video Compatibility

Updates for Android Auto include more functionality, with new apps and entertainment options.Users can improve productivity in the car with audio-only Webex and Zoom conference calls and virtual meetings while on the road, or pass the time while charging up your EV with Prime Video series or in-car web-browsing.For Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis models, there’s also a new phone-based digital key for your car.Automakers spend millions in R&D on designing their infotainment systems, but it increasingly seems like they should just leave the work to the phone companies. Case in point: Android Auto’s latest updates provide even more useful features for drivers, all packaged with the smartphone you probably already have in your pocket.GoogleOn the productivity side, new in-car apps from Webex and Zoom will make it easier to join in on conference calls while behind the wheel. A transition to virtual work untethered plenty of folks from their desks. Still, having to pull over to fumble for your phone or laptop to join in on a virtual meeting is a pain. Now, you can chime in—audio only, of course—while on the move, turning your Android Auto–equipped car into a mobile office. The latest update comes with new entertainment options for vehicles with built-in Google, and none too soon, either. As EV early adopters long ago learned, public chargers aren’t always placed next to that perfectly quaint coffee shop. Waiting around to top off your EV can bore you to tears. Rolling out for Volvo and Polestar brand vehicles (and, overseas, Renault), a new Prime Video app allows users to stream their favorite shows while the electrons trickle in. There’s also a new Vivaldi internet browser for web surfing.InfotainmentCars with Google onboard also have access to an app from the Weather Channel. When downloaded, this app allows your Honda to give you forecast updates as you drive along, something that’s ideal for road trips and day-to-day commutes. The app even offers an onboard weather radar map view of your planned trip.Lock and Unlock for Hyundai/Kia/Genesis Last, Google is expanding its rollout of digital vehicle keys, something that’s already available in some European markets. For some Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis vehicles, the use of a compatible Pixel or Samsung phone allows users to unlock and start their vehicles with just their phone. You can also send this digital key to other phones, should you lend your car to someone else. For now, most of these features are tied to certain vehicle brands, but Google says the apps will soon be more common. There are still holdouts, including Rivian, but between Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, the industry may be working toward a more standardized type of onboard infotainment. This content is imported from poll. Ducati Single Cylinder Motorcycle Spied Testing – KTM rival

Ducati single cylinder motorcycleDucati single cylinder motorcycle features Hypermotard 950’s overall design and aesthetics – With a smaller engineThe Italian marque, Ducati, has been one of the pinnacles in sensational and premium motorcycles. From the past couple of decades, Ducati has produced a multitude of multi-cylinder engine motorcycles. However, recent revelations suggest Ducati is developing a single-cylinder powered Hypermotard that could potentially take on the likes of KTM 690 SMC R.Ducati Single Cylinder Motorcycle – Hypermotard 650?Test mule was spotted abroad and featured a Ducati Hypermotord-like bike in camouflage. A keen look reveals that there is some size deficit in the engine department, while the motorcycle around it looks huge. At first glance, it looks like this test mule has the same chassis and body as the bigger Hypermotard 950, testing a new single-cylinder engine. This might be true as well because similarities in design and size with bigger Hypermotard are uncanny. However, there are changes that might be categorised as downgrades when compared to full-fat Hypermotard 950. Headlights, rear subframe, USD telescopic front forks, and rear mono-shock placement look similar. These are the elements that give it a typical Hypermotard look. On closer inspection, this particular test mule carries certain downgrades. These are a single disc setup at the front, skinnier tyres, a double-sided swingarm as opposed to single-sided on Hypermotard and a few elements more. Front beak looks thinner, but longer.Ducati Hypermotard 650 engine bayRadiator’s positioning and the cowl around it look similar to that of Hypermotard 950. Looking at the engine bay, it generally feels a lot empty on this test mule. We feel like this engine bay was designed to accommodate a much bigger engine. Like the twin-cylinder 937cc unit on Hypermotard 950.Same 659cc single-cylinder homologated by NHTSA in USA?When the recent spy shots of a single-cylinder Ducati motorcycle went viral, it sheds light on a single-cylinder powered motorcycle that Ducati registered with NHTSA. According to that registration, this single-cylinder engine will be a 659cc unit and has a 4V head. It seems to have a SOHC setup and a liquid-cooling jacket. Power may be around 75 bhp. This engine looks to the a stressed unit in the frame. Rear swingarm seems to be directly connected to the engine too. These are weight-saving measures and Ducati’s upcoming single-cylinder bike could sport impressive kerb weight numbers. Ducati might be eyeing KTM 690 SMC R with this upcoming Hypermotard 650 (name not confirmed).Ducati Hypermotard stylingConsidering that this is the first-ever sighting of this motorcycle, launch could be further in the future. India launch is less likely, though. But not completely impossible. When launched, Ducati Hypermotard 650 will mark the return of iconic Italian marque to single-cylinder space. Last known single-cylinder Ducati was race-only Supermano in 1993.Source More

2024 Jeep Gladiator Becomes a More Advanced Adventure Truck

The 2024 Jeep Gladiator gets a refresh that brings the same updates as the Wrangler. Along with a new version of the brand’s seven-slot grille, the Gladiator adds a 12.3-inch touchscreen and newly available power-adjustable front seats.Jeep’s truck also adds two top-tier models—Mojave X and Rubicon X—and there are new AEV upfit packages. The Jeep Gladiator is basically the Jeep Wrangler, just with a longer wheelbase and a cargo bed. Earlier this year, the Wrangler received a refresh that was highlighted by a new-look grille and an updated dashboard design, so it was only a matter of time until the pickup truck benefited from the same treatment.Gladiator Glow-UpThe 2024 Gladiator now sports a restyled version of Jeep’s trademark seven-slot grille. Along with being visually slimmer, its textured slots are said to help improve engine cooling. With Jeep discontinuing the optional diesel V-6, that leaves the 285-hp V-6 as the lone powerplant—at least for now, as the Gladiator is destined to get the brand’s 4xe plug-in-hybrid powertrain at some point. The Gladiator’s other exterior changes aren’t as noticeable, but they’ll likely be appreciated. For instance, the antenna is now built into the windshield unlike the old one that could get caught on branches out on the trail or damaged in hands-free carwashes. Seven new wheel designs further help freshen up the truck that’s entering its fourth model year. A new soft-top is also now standard on the entry-level Sport trim.Jeep has revised the Gladiator’s dashboard too. Not only does it now have narrow horizontal vents above the HVAC controls, but there are new soft-touch materials on the instrument panel. We all know Jeep loves Easter eggs, and the Gladiator adds them with markings on all four corners that represent the four cardinal points on a compass. On top of the dash is a bracket for mounting accessories (a feature already found on the Ford Bronco). The Mojave trim level also gets a new steering wheel with thumb contours; the seats have more bolstering too. Without further ado, the crown jewel of the Gladiator’s updated interior is the horizontal 12.3-inch touchscreen. The big display is standard on every model and replaces the previous 7.0 and 8.4-inch units. The new infotainment screen uses UConnect5 software, which comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has improved voice commands and backlight technology that’s said to make the screen easier to see in direct light—like when the Jeep’s top is inevitably dropped. As with the ’24 Wrangler, the Gladiator offers Jeep Adventure Guides that detail 62 trails via the navigation system, and there’s a “Follow Model” that provides trail information such as waypoints in real time. Plus, the subscription-based Trails Offroad add-on allows access to over 3000 trail guides.Gladiator Advancements Designed to take it slow off-road, the Gladiator still has a host of features for keeping occupants safe on the street. For 2024, every model adds side-curtain airbags in both rows. Jeep says it also made structural changes to improve side-impact performance, and the second row has outboard seatbelts. The Sport S and above also now have standard forward collision warning and adaptive cruise control.JeepJeepIt might surprise some, but the Gladiator hasn’t had power-adjustable front seats—until now. A set of 12-way power seats (Jeep says they’ve been tested for water fording) are offered for the first time. They’re included with two new models, the Mojave X and Rubicon X, which are billed as the most capable and luxurious Gladiators. They also have nappa leather to go with steel bumpers, steel rock rails for the bed corners, a full-time transfer case, and an integrated off-road camera. AEV PackagesThe 2024 Gladiator is also available with three upfit packages from American Expedition Vehicles (AEV). The Upcountry and Upcountry+ includes a 2.0-inch suspension lift and 35-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires. While both setups have unique wheels and fender flares, the “+” package gets a beefy front bumper and a non-winch cover plate.Opting for AEV’s Level II package gets more extreme, bringing 37-inch BFGs and a 2.5-inch suspension lift with Bilstein dampers. Other notable measurements include a 57-degree approach angle, a 26-degree breakover angle, and a 34-degree departure angle. The Level II kit also comes with the aforementioned front bumper, a front skid plate, and a Warn Zeon 10-S winch. The AEV upfits have to be placed through local Jeep dealers. While Jeep hasn’t yet announced pricing for the updated Gladiator, we expect slight increases across the lineup, which previously started just under $41K and eclipsed $53K for the top-tier Mojave and Rubicon models. With orders now open, 2024 Gladiators will reach dealerships at the end of the year. This content is imported from poll. 2024 GMC Acadia Grows Significantly, Approaches Yukon Proportions

The 2024 GMC Acadia is bigger than before, with its wheelbase and overall length growing by 8.4 and 10.6 inches, respectively. The Acadia’s growth spurt translates to a roomier interior, which gets ritzier with a new design that includes a standard verical 15.0-inch touchscreen.Every model now has a 328-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder and can tow 5000 pounds with either front- or all-wheel drive.Entering its third generation, the 2024 GMC Acadia becomes an even bigger three-row mid-size SUV. Not only is it longer, taller, and wider than its predecessor, but the new Acadia has a boxier exterior that makes it look more trucklike—a trend that’s echoed by new competitors as well as its corporate cousin, the recently redesigned Chevy Traverse.Inside ScoopThe new Acadia’s interior materials don’t look or feel truly luxurious—even on the deluxe Denali model—but the space is still much ritzier than before. The center console has more storage space thanks to the awkward shift buttons being moved to a column-mounted shifter, and there’s also more room underneath the console.Along with the crisply rendered 11.0-inch digital gauge cluster, the dashboard is dominated by a vertically oriented 15.0-inch touchscreen. Both features are standard, and the Google-based infotainment system includes customizable screens and available apps. The bottom of the center display also has static HVAC controls with a mix of touch functions and toggle switches.Every Acadia has a host of driver-assistance technology, and now almost all of it comes standard. Along with popular aids such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring, there are also detection systems for bicyclists and pedestrians, automated emergency braking that works at intersections, and up to nine exterior camera views. The new Acadia is available with Super Cruise too, GM’s hands-free driver-assist system, which is available on the Elevation and AT4 trims for the first time. A GMC Growth SpurtAfter growing 10.6 inches overall, the Acadia now measures 204 inches from stem to stern. That makes the mid-sizer a half-foot shorter than the full-size GMC Yukon, and now the two have an identical 120.9-inch wheelbase, after the Acadia’s was stretched by 8.6 inches. The result is a roomier interior that should better serve all passengers onboard. The base-level Elevation trim has a second-row bench seat and can fit eight passengers; the AT4 and Denali have captain’s chairs that cap seating to seven. The new Acadia’s increased size also contributes to more cargo area. GMC claims there’s now almost 80 percent more space behind the third row and roughly 36 percent more space with the rearmost seats stowed. While the company hasn’t released exact figures, we estimate the new generation will have about 23 cubic feet behind the third row and about 56 cubes behind the second row. Underneath the load floor is a large storage bin, and there’s a spare tire below that.A Turbo Four for AllPreviously, the Acadia’s engine lineup included a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a 3.6-liter V-6. The four-pot was good for 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the V-6 pumped out 310 horses and 270 pound-feet. Now, every Acadia has a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder that’s considerably mightier. It makes 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet. GMC hasn’t yet released fuel-economy estimates for the Acadia’s new powertrain. An eight-speed automatic transmission replaces the old nine-speed unit, but the Acadia still offers front- or all-wheel drive. Either configuration can tow up to 5000 pounds, which is between 1000 and 1700 pounds more than before. The off-road-oriented AT4 model also has an exclusive all-wheel-drive system with a twin-clutch rear axle. The AT4 stands about an inch taller than other Acadias, which are already 3.4 inches taller than their predecessors. Other unique AT4 hardware includes 18-inch wheels mounted on Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires and a specially tuned suspension. The most rugged Acadia can also be identified by its red front tow hooks, lower front skid plate, and plastic overfenders with orange reflectors at the top.No one will have trouble spotting the Denali version of the Acadia. Not only does it boast glossy black lower body trim and a flashy grille (now satin instead of chrome), but it can be had with big 22-inch wheels—20s were previously the biggest opton. Inside, the Acadia Denali has leather upholstery, laser-etched wood trim, chrome accents, and heated and ventilated front seats. A 12-speaker Bose stereo is standard, but a 16-speaker version is optional. The same goes for the massive panoramic sunroof and second-row heated seats. GMC hasn’t said how much the 2024 Acadia will cost, but pricing will be announced sometime before it becomes available early next year. If we had to wager a guess, we’d say the base-level Elevation will start just under $40K, with the top-of-the-line Denali cresting the $50,000 mark. This content is imported from poll. 2025 Cadillac CT5 Sedan Adds Sleek 33-Inch Screen, New Headlights

Cadillac has revealed an updated 2025 Cadillac CT5 at the Detroit auto show that will go on sale in spring 2024.The 2025 CT5’s new front end features a wider grille and more complex LED headlights, and there are also two new paint colors available.A 33-inch screen dominates the cabin, and the CT5 will also offer a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot and has Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant built in.Cadillac is trending toward a future centered around electric SUVs, revealing an electric Escalade iQ last month that will join the Lyriq EV at dealerships next summer. But the American luxury automaker is still giving its old-school gasoline-powered sedan, the CT5, one more update before its likely demise. Revealed today at the Detroit auto show, the 2025 CT5 sports a fresh new face and a more modern interior with a massive 33-inch screen.CadillacThe CT5’s new look brings it in line with the recent refresh for the XT4, Cadillac’s smallest crossover. The squinty horizontal headlights are now conjoined with the vertical LED elements. The main headlight housing is nestled in the crook of these two LED strips, and it connects with a vent below to create a triangle cutout in the bodywork. On CT5 Sport models, the trim is blacked out and the grille is fitted with black mesh. Two new colors join the palette for 2025: Deep Space Metallic and Typhoon Metallic.CadillacThe biggest change is in the cabin, where a new 33-inch LED screen spans the dash. As seen in the XT4, Lyriq, and gas-powered Escalade, the screen is bent slightly towards the driver and features touch capability on either side of the steering wheel. Keeping the 2025 CT5 up to date is an optional 5G Wi-Fi hotspot and a suite of Google applications built into the infotainment, including Google Maps and Assistant. Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant is also integrated into the system. The CT5 also gains more standard driver-assistance features for 2025, adding blind zone steering assist—designed to prevent collisions when changing lanes—and intersection automated emergency braking. Traffic sign recognition is now available, and buyers can also purchase Super Cruise, General Motors’ hands-free highway driving system.CadillacThe CT5’s powertrains carry over unchanged. The base turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder produces 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while upgrading to the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 brings 335 horsepower and 405 pound-feet. The CT5 is still rear-wheel drive as standard but offers all-wheel drive and routes power through a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 2025 CT5 will be assembled at the Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan starting in the spring of 2024. Cadillac says pricing will arrive later, and we expect the new CT5 to start just north of $40,000. Cadillac also hinted that refreshed versions of the performance-oriented CT5-V and CT5-V Blackwing will be revealed later.More New CadillacsThis content is imported from poll. Ultraviolette Opposes X440 Name Trademark By Hero MotoCorp

Harley-Davidson X 440 trademark tussle with UltravioletteThe ‘X44’ trademark by Ultraviolette Automotive was filed around two months prior to Harley-Davidson X 440 trademark filingHero MotoCorp partnered up with iconic American motorcycling giant Harley-Davidson and launched X 440. There is good reception to the bike, clocking over 25,000 bookings within weeks of launch. However, X 440 seems to have encountered a speed bump already in the form of a trademark tussle with Ultraviolette Automotive.Ultraviolette Opposes X440 Name TrademarkAccording to a recent report, Ultraviolette Automotive has raised a formal opposition against X 440 name trademark filed by Hero MotoCorp. Ultraviolette Automotive seems to be concerned over the name X 440 overlapping with one of its own name trademarks – X44.According to the report, people in the know-how have revealed that Ultraviolette has filed an opposition at the patent office against the wordmark ‘X 440’ that Hero MotoCorp used with their maiden product in partnership with Harley-Davidson. Where Ultraviolette is concerned, their opposition seems to have worked. If we take a look at Hero MotoCorp-owned X 440 trademark file, status now says ‘Opposed’. Whereas Ultraviolette’s X44 trademark file status says ‘Accepted & Advertised’. Trademark files reveal that Ultraviolette Automotive filed X44 trademark application on 27/9/22 and Hero MotoCorp filed X 440 trademark 8/11/2022.Hero MotoCorp X 440 trademark opposedWhat happens if Ultraviolette wins this legal battle? So, Ultraviolette’s trademark application is around two months older than Hero’s. If this legal tussle ends in Ultraviolette’s favour, Hero MotoCorp could lose the rights to X 440 name. Deliveries for Harley-Davidson X440 are around October 2023. Will deliveries of X 440 commence, if legalities escalate to that point by October? Only time will tell. There is a possibility of Harley-Davidson X 440 retaining its rights over X 440 word mark. This is because there is a pronounced space between the character X and 440, which Ultraviolette’s X44 trademark lacks. Also, an argument can be made by Hero regarding the fact that they already have the product on sale, whereas Ultraviolette may or may not launch a product with its trademark.Who will break the stalemate?Neither company has made any official remarks regarding this issue. It is clear that Ultraviolette had intentions of carving out a new affordable motorcycle below its F77 with the name X44 (44 is lower in value as opposed to 77). Since Ultraviolette filed its trademark before Hero MotoCorp, it might have an upper hand.Ultraviolette X44 trademarkThis incident also sheds light on Hero MotoCorp’s previous trademark tussle with Hero Electric. That was ruled in favour of Hero Electric and the issue mainly revolved around the usage of word ‘Hero’ with Hero MotoCorp’s new EV lineup. Hence ‘Vida’ brand was created.Source More
