Tata Harrier EV Rock Climb Challenge – Off-Road Features Revealed

Tata Harrier EV Elephant Rock ClimbTata Motors is all set to launch Harrier EV tomorrow on 3 June, 2025. Ahead of the launch, Tata Motors has just posted a jaw-dropping video of Harrier EV climbing the formidable Elephant Rock in Kerala which poses great challenges with tricky terrains and even a 34-degree incline. This is a stellar accomplishment and many would even regard it as an impossible task.
The same video also teases some of Harrier EV’s off-road features, which helped it traverse this tricky and dangerous stunt and come out on top victorious. Let’s take a look at these off-road features along with Tata’s new QWD (Quad Wheel Drive) setup and the new sophisticated suspension in action.
    Tata Harrier EV Off-Road
Tata Harrier EV Elephant Rock Climb
In a chilling video, Tata Motors has demonstrated the off-road capability of its upcoming Harrier EV flagship electric SUV. The company seems to have taken marketing cues from its subsidiary brand, Land Rover, that has demonstrated off-road capabilities through impossible challenges. Tata Harrier EV Elephant Rock climb is no different.
    Tata Harrier EV Off-Road
Located in Kerala state, this Elephant Rock has a peak elevation of 3937 ft above sea level and it poses a formidable terrain that is impossible for a car to scale. For it is a tough trail for human trekking and an unforgivable nightmare for a vehicle. Even a minor slip would redeem dangerous as the vehicle would roll down into the abyss.
    Tata Harrier EV Off-Road
This trail is loosely categorised into three stages – Minefield, Ridge and Beast. Minefield is riddled with jagged rocks and loose boulders and the test driver of Harrier EV turns on ‘Off Road Assist’ feature. Harrier EV also comes with a Transparent Mode where cameras under the vehicle stitch together a feed into the large infotainment screen lending uninterrupted underbody view.

    Off-road prowess!
Ridge stage posed different challenges as it brought craters and inclinations into the equation. This is where the Rock Crawl Mode on its updated Terrain Response system comes into action. In the video, we can see a few heroic shots of Harrier EV traversing through these tricky terrains with wheels in the air in some cases.
    Tata Harrier EV Off-Road
Beast stage of this challenge is trickier still as there is a steep 34-degrees incline for Harrier EV to tackle. Which it impressively tackles with the help of Boost Mode which seems to unlock all of Harrier EV’s performance. Harrier EV’s dual-motor QWD (Quad Wheel Drive) system comes into its own offering four-wheel traction which is paramount in situations like these.

    Range expectations
The video Tata Motors posted of Harrier EV scaling an Elephant Rock in Kerala also gives us insight into the powertrain related aspects. Particularly the range, where Harrier EV’s instrument cluster shows 560 km range with 90% SOC (State Of Charge). 550 km range with 88% SOC and 525 km range with 85% SOC can also be seen. This could indicate a claimed 600 km range on full charge. More details will be revealed at launch on June 3, 2025.

Mahindra BE Rall-E Spied Testing Again – More Rugged BE 6 SUV

Mahindra BE Rall-E Spied TestingIt has been almost a year since the Mahindra BE Rall-E test mules have been spotted in India. Showed as a concept vehicle in February 2023 on the stage with Bollywood actors Vicky Kaushal and Disha Patani, Mahindra BE Rall-E is likely to launch in the country with almost the same design as its concept. Let’s take a closer look.
Mahindra BE Rall-E Spied Testing Again
BE 6 has already emerged as the sportiest and the wildest mainstream electric SUV ever launched in India. But what’s wilder than an already wild BE 6, is BE Rall-E, which is a more rugged and off-road-y version. It was showcased as a concept in February 2023 and it has been spied testing multiple times, hinting at a possible launch.
    Mahindra BE Rall-E Spied Testing
What we see, we like. That’s because it is not just a cosmetic nip-and-tuck job, but is a lot more comprehensive than that. BE Rall-E gets its own identity with a new fascia and single-piece LED eyebrow-like DRLs. Below these DRLs, we have circular LED projector headlights and what looks like a real bash plate, instead of a faux skid plate.
    Mahindra BE.Rall-E Concept Luggage Rack
Fortifying its off-road-y appearance, we have better approach angle and higher ground clearance on BE Rall-E than BE 6. Wheels on BE Rall-E are steelies which look like they could be 17-inchers and are wrapped with all-terrain tyres. The main unmistakable design distinction with BE Rall-E is the sturdy-looking roof-carrier that grabs a lot of attention as it screams lifestyle.
Upcoming Cars Around Auto Expo 2025 – Mahindra BE.Rall-E
These spy shots also show Mahindra BE Rall-E’s rear for the first time, which has different LED tail lights than BE 6. These LED signature mimics the eyebrow-like LED DRLs seen on the front, which is similar to what concept version had. As BE Rall-E is based on BE 6, it shares the same charging port which is located on rear left quarter panel.
    Mahindra BE.Rall-E Concept
Will it get dual-motor AWD config?
On the inside, BE Rall-E might carry forward the same interior as BE 6 and that is likely to be the case with its powertrains. But because Mahindra BE Rall-E is an off-road-y version, we hope it gets a dual-motor AWD setup that INGLO platform supports. So, more power and torque than already bonkers BE 6 is a possibility.
Mahindra Rall-E Electric SUV Concept Global Debut. From L-R; Pratap Bose, R Velusamy, Rajesh Jejurikar, Anish Shah, Vicky Kaushal, Anand Mahindra, Veejay Nakra
When Mahindra BE Rall-E will launch, is not yet known. The company is yet to launch XUV3XO EV (XUV400 facelift), XEV 7e (electrified XUV700) and other vehicles. The company had put BE Rall-E in ‘Products’ section on their website and not ‘Concept’ section, suggesting that it could be in the pipeline.

As part of that multi-pronged strategy, Ola has announced there will be a delay in the deliveries of its affordable S1 Z and Gig models. For now, the focus will be on the Roadster electric motorcycle. Let’s analyse these developments in more detail.
Ola S1 Z and Gig deliveries delayed
During an investor meeting, Ola Electric founder, Chairman and MD Bhavish Aggarwal said that the company will be delaying the S1 Z, Gig/Gig+. Some of the upcoming new models will also be delayed. These will be introduced at a later date, when the timing is just right in terms of getting the desired response from customers. Bhavish further stated that Ola’s current focus is on the Roadster platform that has spawned the Roadster X, Roadster X Plus, Roadster and Roadster Pro electric motorcycles. Ola Arrowhead is also scheduled for launch this year.
    Ola S1 Z
As may be recalled, Ola had announced the Gig electric scooter for the B2B segment in November last year. The S1 Z was also announced, positioned as an affordable EV for urban commuters. As per the original plan, deliveries of both the Gig and S1 Z were to commence from April-May 2025. However, this has now been delayed. It is not known when exactly deliveries of these scooters will commence.
Interestingly, even the deliveries of Roadster motorcycles were delayed. As per the initial plan, deliveries of Roadster motorcycles were to commence from March, later shifted to April. Deliveries for the Roadster motorcycle finally commenced from May 21. Roadster X is the most affordable, starting at Rs 99,999. Bhavish Aggarwal said that Ola is focusing on increasing production and boosting sales. The company is also actively looking to increase the sales per store. These measures will be continued till the next couple of quarters to ensure the best outcomes, especially for the Roadster motorcycle.
    Ola Gig
Ola Electric needs a major boost after facing multiple challenges in recent times. As of May 26, Ola had slipped to the third spot in the list of best selling electric scooter brands. Its market share more than halved from 49.2% in May 2024 to 20% in May 2025. TVS Motor currently leads the electric two-wheeler segment, with a market share of 25%. Bajaj is second with a market share of 22.6%.
