New Bajaj Pulsar 400Despite Pulsar NS400Z being the most affordable of this bunch, it is not the best-selling offering among the Bajaj 400cc Sales
The premium single-cylinder motorcycle segment has seen a lot of action in India lately. This is a segment where Royal Enfield is very active with its 350cc and 450cc portfolio. However, Bajaj aims to counter these offerings with their standalone products and partner products through Triumph, KTM and Husqvarna.
Together, Bajaj has a slew of 400cc offerings that aim to cater to a wider audience. These vehicles are across Bajaj’s own Pulsar and Dominar brands along with partner brands like KTM’s Duke, Adventure and RC lineups, Triumph’s Speed and Scrambler lineups and Husqvarna’s Svartpilen lineup.
    Bajaj 400cc Sales September 2024
Together, these motorcycles accounted for a total of 7,059 units sold in September 2024. When compared to 6,296 units sold in September 2023 and 7,306 units sold in August 2024, Bajaj’s 400cc portfolio witnessed a 12.12% YoY growth with 763 units gained in volume and a 3.38% MoM decline losing 247 units in volume.
Despite being the most affordable of this bunch, Pulsar NS400Z is not the best-selling 400cc offering from the house of Bajaj. This could be a clear indication that not a lot of people liked the bike’s design, which garnered mixed opinions at launch and with the leaked spy shots before launch.
    Bajaj 400cc Sales September 2024 – YoY
The best-seller, however, is the Triumph 400 family with 3,411 units sold and accounts for almost half of Bajaj’s 400cc empire. 48.32% to be precise. With 4,508 units sold last year and 3,328 units sold a month before, Triumph 400 witnessed a 24.33% YoY decline losing 1,097 units in volume and a 2.49% MoM growth gaining 83 units in volume.
    Bajaj 400cc Sales September 2024 – MoM
Triumph Speed T4 was launched halfway into September 2024 and the reception of that more affordable motorcycle will be reflected in next month’s sales charts. In 2nd place, we have the Pulsar NS400Z with 2,122 units clocked and contributing 30.06% of Bajaj’s total 400cc sales. There was a 15.66% MoM decline with 394 units lost in volume.
Dominar registered YoY and MoM growth
Bajaj’s Dominar lineup took 3rd place with 794 units and is the only vehicle on this list to register both YoY and MoM growth of 18.15% and 12.94% respectively. Volume growth stood at 122 units YoY and 91 units MoM.
With 695 units sold, we have KTM’s 390 lineup in 4th place. When compared to 1,116 units sold last year and 711 units sold a month before, KTM 390 witnessed a severe 37.22% YoY decline and 2.25% MoM decline, losing 421 and 16 units in volume respectively. Lastly, we have Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 which sold 37 units, down from 48 units sold in August 2024 resulting in 22.92% MoM decline. More

Royal Enfield Electric Motorcycle Spied For The First Time Before Launch

Royal Enfield Electric Motorcycle SpiedRoyal Enfield will officially reveal their first electric motorcycle on 4th Nov 2024 – Launch expected in 2025
India’s best selling brand in the middleweight motorcycle segment, Royal Enfield is now looking to achieve something similar in the EV space. There aren’t any CC limitations for electric two-wheelers. And brands have full freedom to create truly unique products that suit their target audience. Royal Enfield will unveil its first electric motorcycle on 4th November, 2024.
Royal Enfield electric motorcycle – What to expect?
Ahead of that, the first spy shots of this new motorcycle have now leaked online. Based on these images, it is likely that Royal Enfield’s first electric bike will be based on the Electrik 01 concept. An image of the prototype was first released in 2022. As it is seen being tested on the road, that means it is no longer a concept and is in near-production ready form.
    Royal Enfield Electric Motorcycle
Royal Enfield has added an exclusive section on its website for its electric motorcycles. Teasers reveal a bike being dropped from the skies using a parachute. This hints at the possibility that the upcoming electric motorcycle could borrow its name from the Flying Flea, a motorcycle that was used during World War II. The shape of the parachute is an exact match with the sketches of the air-dropped Flying Flea motorcycles, released during World War II.
    Focus on urban mobility
While such talks may be speculative, it is interesting to note that Royal Enfield had registered the ‘Royal Enfield Flying Flea’ trademark in 2020. On its website, Royal Enfield mentions that its new range of electric two-wheelers will hit the road soon and are designed for urban mobility. They will have agile characteristics, something that applies to the Flying Flea as well. However, for the 21st century, Royal Enfield electric motorcycles will offer the full range of connectivity and hi-tech features.
    Royal Enfield Electric Motorcycle Spied
Leaked spy images reveal a retro profile, with circular headlamps and rear-view mirrors. The LED headlamp unit is similar to the other RE motorcycles. There’s a circular instrument cluster as well. It could be the same as or a derivative of the one in use with Himalayan 450. Features such as the classic tear-drop fuel tank design, Girder forks, rider-only seat and semi-circular rear fender are quite similar to that of the Flying Flea. The skinny wheels and tyres are another common feature. For an EV, such components can help reduce air drag and optimize range.
    Royal Enfield Electric Motorcycle Spied
On 4th November, Royal Enfield is likely to provide some more information about its first electric motorcycle. In terms of performance, the first Royal Enfield electric motorcycle can be comparable to the brand’s popular 350 cc ICE motorcycles. Those with range anxiety may get some estimates on that as well.
    Himalayan 450 Electric
Royal Enfield is also working on the electric version of Himalayan 450. As of now, extensive tests are underway to determine the platform’s capabilities. When ready, the Himalayan 450 electric platform will spawn a new range of electric two-wheelers.

New Electric Scooter Spied Testing – To Rival Chetak, Vida, iQube?

New Electric Scooter Spied from Jitendra EVThe new electric scooter spied has premium elements like LED lighting, stylish design, 12-inch alloy wheels and disc brakes at both ends
With automotive market booming, more buyers are looking into electric vehicles today, than ever before. This effect is compounded in the electric scooter segment, where acceptance is high and the market trends project decent growth. Among the OEMs present in this segment, is Jitendra EV and is coming up with their flagship product, as suggested by spy shots.
    New Electric Scooter Spied
A new set of spy shots emerged from the internet recently, showing what looks like a premium electric scooter on testing. At first glance, this test mule had fake pretend number plates in a green shade, establishing that it is an electric vehicle. Where design is concerned, this test mule looked like it came out of a Vespa’s factory.
    Jitendra EV New Scooter
However, this new electric scooter spied testing recently, is not from Vespa. The logo in the front, gives away the fact that it is from Jitendra EV, one of India’s leading electric mobility solutions providers. The company currently offers two lineups or sub-brands – JMT (JMT 1000 HS 26, JMT 1000 3K, JMT 1000 HS) and Primo (Primo, Primo S, Primo Plus).
Unlike the JMT and Primo lineups, the upcoming electric scooter from Jitendra EV looks a league apart. We would reckon that the company will position this unnamed electric scooter as it flagship offering when launched.
    Jitendra EV New Scooter
This upcoming electric scooter from Jitendra EV looks very premium and set to take on other established rivals like Ather Rizta, TVS iQube, Ola S1, Hero Vida and Bajaj Chetak. Even in terms of componentry, the new electric scooter spied, is a league above than what Jitendra EV is currently offering.
    How does it look?
As seen in the spy shots, we can see round ORVMs in chrome finish. Headlights are round as too and are LEDs and it also looks like it has integrated LED DRLs. The front apron has a spine-like element with Jitendra EV logo on it. This is flanked by LED turn indicators. Front mudguard is large and seems to be engulfing 12-inch alloy wheels.
    Jitendra EV New Scooter
There seems to be a flat floorboard along with a swooping and curvaceous side profile. Grab rail is of retro-type complementing the overall aesthetics of this new electric scooter. Seat is single-piece with a slight step for pillion. There are strong character lines on side body panels and there is a very interesting LED tail light unit.
    Jitendra EV New Scooter
Battery specs are still under wraps, but we can expect it to provide around 100+ km of range on a single charge. There is a hub motor at the rear wheel that also looks aesthetically pleasing. Other notable elements include front and rear disc brakes. The bike looks close to production and launch could happen soon. More details might be revealed in the future.

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Rally Version Spied Testing – Launch Soon?

Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Rally VersionWith Himalayan 450 Rally Version spied testing, Royal Enfield can target buyers looking for more off-road-worthy hardware with their bike
With the launch of Himalayan 411, Royal Enfield forayed into the adventure off-roader genre for the first time. The company has been a staple name with off-road community in India and abroad. Now, Royal Enfield is carving out a more serious off-road machine based on Himalayan 450 as suggested by recent spy shots. Let’s take a look.
    Himalayan 450 Rally Version Spied
As seen with the recent spy shots, Royal Enfield is testing a new version of Himalayan 450 and is set up for off-roading. The most obvious give-away is the Rally lettering on rear subframe body panels suggesting that it is more special than standard Himalayan 450.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Rally Version
By offering Himalayan 450 Rally version, Royal Enfield aims to cater to off-road fanatics who looked at standard bike as more of a tourer. These off-road enthusiasts crave more off-road-worthy hardware in their motorcycles helping them go places they couldn’t before, in reasonable comfort.
The recent spy shots show a new exhaust setup, which is more substantial than standard bike. Also, this new exhaust is up-swept in design, which should allow for better water-wading ability than the stock bike’s exhaust unit. Front and rear tyres seem to be different than the Ceat ones offered with stock bike.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Rally Version
Other than these changes, we can’t see anything else from what these limited spy shots show. But we can expect Royal Enfield to incorporate fully adjustable front and rear suspension setup, handlebar risers and knuckle guards, as part of its Rally package.
We couldn’t help but compare the newly spied vehicle in India with the motorcycle that did runs in Swank Rally Di Sardegna piloted by Salvatore Di Benedetto. Especially with the rear subframe panel with Rally lettering and shape of exhaust canister are concerned. With Himalayan 450 Rally version, we can expect more performance or re-worked engine mapping.
Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 – Salvatore Di Benedetto
    What to expect?
With the launch of Himalayan 450, Royal Enfield laid more emphasis on touring rather than off-roading. It is heavier than Himalayan 411 and has a lot more tech and features catering to touring needs. It has tank cage, subframe mounts and a rear luggage mount which is beneficial for touring.
For off-roading, one would want a lighter machine with fully adjustable suspension at the front and rear and an up-swept exhaust for better water-wading ability. Royal Enfield might be trying out this formula. The 452cc liquid-cooled engine with 40 bhp and 40 Nm, 6-speed gearbox, 5-inch TFT Tripper Dash and other attributes will remain identical.
