Fancy Bowlus Travel Trailer Makes Neiman Marcus's Fantasy Gift List

Neiman Marcus’s 94th annual Christmas Book launched today, and the legendary Fantasy Gifts list this year includes a bespoke luxury travel trailer from Bowlus Road Chief.
Based on the Endless Highways Performance Edition of the company’s bright silver trailer, the custom camper will be personalized for one lucky recipient by Geneva Long, CEO of Bowlus.
The shiny trailer carries a $255,000 price tag, but $10,000 of that will go to charity.
A customized trailer from luxury travel-trailer manufacturer Bowlus Road Chief has made Neiman Marcus’s Fantasy Gifts list in the 94th edition of the retailer’s annual Christmas Book. A single trailer will be offered for sale with an eye-watering price of $255,000. For that price, Bowlus Road Chief CEO Geneva Long will consult one on one with the lucky recipient to create a truly personalized design for the trailer’s interior.

The Neiman Marcus trailer is based on Bowlus’s Endless Highways Performance Edition model, which measures 26 feet and can sleep up to four adults. If the trailer’s shimmering polished-aluminum exterior presents an Airstream-like appearance, that’s because this company’s history and design stretch back to the 1930s and inspired copycat travel trailers including those manufactured by Airstream today.
Custom elements of the Neiman Marcus trailer include carefully selected kitchen and table linens, a dinner service for four, coordinated interior accessories, and a pair of outdoor chairs. The company will let the buyer choose among more than 35 bedding options, 40-plus flooring options, more than 100 different awnings, and more than 400 interior seating choices. In all, there are at least 56 million possible unique combinations.

    Bowlus Road Chief

Modern-day Bowlus models take a high-tech approach to luxury over-the-road travel and use lithium-ion battery packs similar to those found in electric vehicles to provide enough energy for an entire week of off-grid camping. The trailers are handmade in California and $10,000 from the purchase price of the Neiman Marcus model will go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

Other items on this year’s Fantasy Gift list include a custom-designed home library with hand-chosen books and furniture from Assouline, a year of wellness and self-improvement coaching via Canyon Ranch Resort and Spa in Arizona, a Jonathan Adler–designed custom game room, a set of six exotic-gemstone rings by high-end jeweler Oscar Heyman, and beef for a year from the Perini Ranch in Texas, which includes an in-person excursion to the ranch.

Harley Davidson XR338 Street Tracker Concept Based On Benelli 300cc

Harley Davidson XR338 Street Tracker. Images – BikeExif
The XR338 is a concept Harley Davidson 338R; which could influence the its street tracker version

With global sales getting affected due to pandemic and closure of business operations in emerging markets such as India, the American manufacturer has not had a pleasant 2020. However, the brand has a very rich legacy over many years and it is confident about its resurgence in future.
A couple of months ago the 338R from Harley was the talk of the town as several spied images and patent sketches had leaked on the internet giving us an idea of what the company’s future could look like. Termed as the ‘baby Harley’, this bike looked nothing like a typical Harley Davidson.

Atypical because neither does the bike belong to a cruiser segment nor does it feature a big displacement powertrain. The motorcycle adopts a flat-track racer body style. Even though flat trackers aren’t quite the big thing these days, an Italian industrial design house has seen potential in this segment and therefore created its own concept prototype. Just like teased patent images of 338R, the XR338 too is based on Benelli 302S.
    Brief about Engines Engineering
Founded by Alberto Strazzari in 1979, Engines Engineering (EE) specializes in motorcycle design and development and have worked previously with OEMs like Yamaha, Ducati, Honda, Benelli, Suzuki and many more.

It has also provided its services for designing purposes for local Italian manufacturers. However, this is the first time it has attempted something like this on an existing model and turned it into something completely different.
    Design of XR338
Dubbed as XR338, this naked street tracker is aimed primarily at the younger consumers of the US market. Design-wise, EE has admitted that the XR338 draws major inspirations from Harley-Davidson XR750. The iconic flat tracker is celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year. EE claims that the prototype is fully functional and 70 percent ready for production.

Although most of Benelli’s components are intact, it gets its own modified frame with the stock 302S trellis structure making way for a more flowing affair. EE has also added its own body, fuel system, LED lighting, instrumentation and a new pair of 18-inch custom wheels. Suspension has also been tweaked slightly in accordance with the new wheels and bike’s revised mass. It also receives a new exhaust muffler and ECU unit.
EE has designed the XR338 keeping in mind the latest emission norms including Euro 5 standards, US DOT, and even CARB requirements thus removing most hurdles before production. EE claims to have built this prototype in 120 days and it would take another six months to complete the last 30 percent remaining for it to be production ready.

    Powertrain Utilised
Benelli 302S is powered by a 300 cc twin-cylinder which pushes out 37.5 bhp and 25.6 Nm of peak torque. Even though XR338 will share its underpinnings with Qianjiang QJ350 and Benelli 302S, it is said to carry its own American heart and soul. Speculations are rife that the 338R will be powered by a 338cc parallel-twin engine which will produce 43 bhp. It is expected to be paired with a 6-speed transmission unit.
Whether the XR338 draws some inspiration for folks at Harley Davidson is yet to be seen but its design is definitely a head-turner. Also, the future of 338R in India hangs in balance since Harley Davidson relinquishing its duties in the country and handing it over to Hero MotoCorp.

Meteor 350 Development Process Explained By Royal Enfield

Royal Enfield Meteor 350 tested across India, Spain and the UK.
The video describes what changes and improvements have been made on Meteor 350 over the older Thunderbird 350

Biking enthusiasts, especially Royal Enfield fans had been waiting for Meteor 350 with bated breath and its launch earlier last week sent the automotive industry into a frenzy. The cruiser replaces the outgoing Thunderbird model from Royal Enfield’s portfolio and has generally received a positive response from across the industry.
While everyone is singing praises for the new bike, it is important for readers to know what went into development of the mid-segment cruiser. A team of leading technicians and engineers explain in a video released by Royal Enfield on its official Youtube channel, the development process and special attributes of Meteor 350.
    Updates on Meteor 350
Meteor 350 has rightly been described as a progression and evolution from the outgoing Thunderbird as the Royal Enfield team had the exact thing in mind while developing the Meteor 350. Essentially Meteor 350 is the next generation of Thunderbird 350 with a brand new engine, chassis and subtle updates to design. This fact can also be established when one rides the Meteor and Thunderbird back to back.
The development team consists of technicians, engineers and designers from various countries, with the new bike jointly developed and tested in Spain, the United Kingdom and India. Take a look at the video below.
    [embedded content]
The video features inputs from following people;– Mark Wells, Head, Product Strategy & Development– Simon Warburton, Head, Product Strategy & Development– Chittaranjan Gogoi, Industrial Design– Anuj Dua, Product Strategy– James Young, Engine Development– Takashi Yamamoto, Head, Electronic Management System– Martin Neczaj, Chassis Design– S Sivakumar, Head, Industrial Design– Matthew Cardenas, Product Manager, Tripper Navigation
    Improvements made
Even though most of its components are brand new and designed from scratch, it still retains most of Royal Enfield’s signature elements such as its characteristic exhaust thump and its road presence. The new engine though slightly low on torque than the previous generation 350cc engine has a wider torque band of 1000 rpm which makes it provides the essential low-end and mid-range thrust thus providing a comfortable ride in city as well as highway conditions.
What the extra 1000 rpm of peak torque also does is reduce vibrations on the bike considerably which makes it easier to cruise at slightly higher speeds. The rake angle incorporated is optimised both for city commute as well as long-distance cruising.
For the first time, Royal Enfield is also providing mass customisation for its customers through the brand’s ‘Make It Yours’ program from where the owners can choose from thousands of components and accessories to make their Meteor look exclusive.
    Other Details
Royal Meteor 350 is the first bike from the retro classic motorcycle brand to be based on an all-new J platform which is set to underpin future models as well. The company also incorporated a brand new 349cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, long-stroke engine which makes 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm of peak torque. It is available in three variants namely- Fireball, Stellar and Supernova and is offered at a starting price of Rs 1.75 lakh (ex-showroom). More

VW Wants to Turn a Greek Island into an Electric-Car Utopia

Volkswagen and Greece have agreed to replace internal-combustion-powered vehicles with EVs on the island of Astypalea to create a “smart green island.”
In addition to EVs, the island will also have electric scooters and bikes and a charging infrastructure installed.
The project is expected to last six years and will be powered by wind and solar energy.
The transition from internal-combustion engines to electric vehicles will take decades. Even if automakers overnight switched to building more EVs than gasoline-powered vehicles, the petrol-powered legacy will survive for years. It certainly seems that the only way to make the transportation system substantially greener is to switch out the gas cars for electric ones, and that’s what Volkswagen and Greece are doing with the island of Astypalea.

Toyota Will Build a Creepy Private City in Japan

All about VW’s MEB Electric Platform

Future EVs: Every Electric Vehicle Coming Soon

The German automaker and the Greek government have come to an agreement to make Astypalea a “smart green island.” The plan is to transition the current transportation to EVs and mobility services and implement renewable power generation. The plan includes replacing 1500 gas-powered vehicles with 1000 EVs, installing charging stations, bringing in e-scooters and e-bikes, and replacing the current bus system with ride-sharing and car-sharing solutions.

    Volkswagen

In addition to private vehicles, police, emergency services, and fleet vehicles will transition to EVs. The energy needed to power all of this for the 38.6-square-mile Mediterranean island will be provided by local solar and wind energy.
While the island itself has only approximately 1300 residents, it’s visited by 72,000 tourists each year. VW and Greece haven’t named a date when this transition will take place, but the project is expected to run for six years.

TVS Retron Name Registered – Creon Based Electric Scooter To Rival Ather?

    TVS Creon Concept
TVS is on aggressive mode as the brand has filed multiple trademarks recently

TVS Motor Company has recently filed a few trademarks which suggest that the Hosur-based automaker might be bringing in new products in the near future. Reports of the company registering trademarks of Zepplin R and Fiero have already been shared by us.
Now, details of another trademark filed by the brand for the name TVS Retron have been leaked. It is not exactly known as to which product will carry this name in future. As of now, there could be many possibilities which we could think of.
    An Electric Scooter
Narrowing down, we have come to three probabilities where the ‘Retron’ name might be utilized. The first scenario is of a retro electric scooter. This e-scooter might be positioned above iQube and would be pitted against the likes of Ather 450X and Bajaj Chetak Electric.
The company had earlier previewed TVS Creon electric scooter as a concept at the AutoExpo 2018. The model was powered by a pack of three Lithium-ion batteries which gave out 12 kW of instant power.
TVS Retron Name Registered On 2nd Nov 2020.
This TVS electric scooter claimed a single-charge range of 80 km and an impressive performance of 0-60 kmph in just 5.1 seconds. The battery could be recharged via a fast charger which could juice up the battery to 80 percent in just 60 minutes.
A Retro Motorcycle Based on Apache
Second possibility is that TVS could utilise Apache’s platform to build an entry-level retro motorcycle. There is no such bike in the 150-160cc space and TVS could very well make use of this void and gain a first-mover advantage.
If this plan does materialize, TVS might position it just slightly below Apache RTR 160 and it will appeal to a wider section of classic motorcycle lovers. The new bike is expected to feature classic elements such as a round headlight and taillight, a retro fuel tank and a flat seat.
    A bigger version of Radeon
Third possibility lies in a bigger version of the classically styled Radeon since the two names sound similar. Utilizing the 110cc motor for this bike seems unlikely since the brand already has two motorcycles using 110cc units and the upcoming Victor BS6 too will employ the same motor. A 125cc mill makes more sense and the Retron name could very well justify it.
Hero MotoCorp did a same thing with Splendor when they launched a classic version of it called Splendor Pro Classic. It sported a cafe-racer style seat with a pillion cowl, club man-style handlebars, chrome embellished fenders and mirrors; and spoked wheels.
It will be interesting to see what TVS has in its mind but currently, there are not many details to speculate further. Only time and TVS can tell what it is planning ahead. However, one thing is for sure that with all the new trademarks we can expect interesting stuff from the bikemaker in the coming future. More

Lego ECTO-1 Offers a Deluxe Ghostbusters Build Experience

Set to launch in the middle of the month, this new $200 Lego set blends nostalgia for the 1984 film with play features from the new Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie, due in mid-2021.
Polish up your “Who you gonna call?” lines as you put together the latest version of the 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor hearse.
This is the third official ECTO-1 Lego set, but the others had around 500 pieces, compared to the 2000-plus here.
While we wait for the new Ghostbusters movie to escape COVID quarantine (Ghostbusters: Afterlife was supposed to open in July but has now been pushed back to June 2021), Lego can’t wait to give us something to do with our time: build a deluxe version of the ECTO-1.
Based on a converted 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor hearse, the original ECTO-1 from the classic 1984 movie made our list of Coolest Movie Cars of All Time, where we called it a “classic for an entire generation.” Even though this new Lego set is based on the version in the upcoming movie, we’re not at all surprised that the new Lego set feeds adult nostalgia while also being current with the upcoming movie.

2021 Ford Bronco Looks Great as Lego Model

Awesome Real-Life Cars You Can Buy in Lego Form

Lego Launches Replica of Fast and Furious Charger

One of the main benefits of Lego is the fact that you can use the pieces to build the ECTO-1 you want, but the new ECTO-1 set includes features including a Remote Trap Vehicle that firmly connect it to the upcoming movie. There are also plenty of moving features such as doors (obviously) and a roof-mounted T. U. Antenna that rotates when the rear wheels move. Lego fan sites are mostly enjoying the new set, with The Brothers Brick Lego fan site saying it is a “superb rendition of the ECTO-1” and that it “looks spot-on from all sides.”

    Lego

This is the third official ECTO-1 set Lego has made, and it’s much larger and more complicated than the previous versions. The first ECTO-1, from 2014, had 508 pieces, while a 2016 edition had 556 pieces. This new version, which looks like (but isn’t, technically) part of Lego’s adult-focused Ultimate Collector Series, contains 2352 pieces.

    Lego

Lego has also sold a deluxe Ghostbusters firehouse set, a Brickheads pack featuring Peter Venkman and Slimer, and two small packs for its short-lived Dimensions video game.

10 of the Coolest Movie Cars of All Time

Lego is dealing with other delayed movies in the same way as it’s tackling Ghostbusters, selling sets based on both Wonder Woman 1984 and Black Widow, even though neither movie is yet available in theaters or on demand. At least we know when the new ECTO-1 will arrive: The Lego Ghostbusters ECTO-1 set costs $199.99 and will be available November 15.
