Royal Enfield Classic 350 New Colours – Orange Ember, Metallo Silver Launched

Royal Enfield Classic 350 New Colours
Royal Enfield motorcycles and the ease and convenience of custom-made two-wheelers

Royal Enfield motorcycles have an unprecedented fan following that hasn’t ebbed over time. If anything, curiosity around new motorcycles and old are a tell tale sign of the level of interest Royal Enfield generates time and again. In fact, Royal Enfield is already busy trying to make the ensuing decade a strong one.
One of its core strategies will be a number of new launches for its domestic market where sales is strongest, and launches for international markets as the manufacturer is keen on gaining market share as a global mid segment bike manufacturer. The mid segment ranges from 250cc to 750 cc, and Royal Enfield already has a strong presence here. In recent times, the segment is getting a slight push from 350cc cruisers, which is turn will help build the segment, a space where Royal Enfield continues to dominate, and has for the longest time been a lone wolf in the market.
Royal Enfield Make It Yours platform
The current quarter saw Royal Enfield Meteor being launched in the 350cc segment, again a strong suit for the manufacturer. In increasing its overall appeal, Royal Enfield has never shied away from the availability of colours and accessories. The approach works well as buyers are keen to customise bikes as per personal choice.
This is further helped by Royal Enfield Make It Yours platform. The initiative lets one personalise the bike right from the word go. Such flexibility and wide range availability means takin the bike home from the dealership is a one time job rather than incorporate a personal touch as and when something becomes available.

MiY helps build custom-made motorcycles as per consumer specs in 24 to 48 hours at the Chennai plant. Royal Enfield will ensure MiY is available for all its bikes at all dealerships over time. For new motorcycles, the option will be available from the beginning itself.
    Royal Enfield Classic 350 MiY
When introduced in October 2020, the app-based, 3D Configurator was introduced to combine colours, trims, graphics, and accessories at the time of booking. At the time, the config choice was limited to its 650 Twin Motorcycles – the Interceptor 650, and Continental GT 650. Accessory warranty stands for two-years.
Now, Royal Enfield Classic 350 can be gotten in a new Orange Ember shade, as also a Metallo Silver colour option. Bookings for the same open this week.
Available at a price of Rs. 1,83,164 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the new offerings are part of Royal Enfield Make It Yours – MiY – initiative. As announced earlier, it’ll only be a matter of time until the initiative is available for the entire RE lineup right at the time of booking. More

Royal Enfield Meteor 350 First Service Cost vs Honda CB350

    Image – Techno Rahil
First service details of Royal Enfield Meteor 350 are out and it is one more thing for RE fanboys to cheer about

Royal Enfield recently launched ints Meteor 350 and the cruiser seems to have lived up to everybody’s expectation. Such has been its craze as per our last update within the first ten days, the Chennai-based bikemaker has received over 8000 bookings for the new generation cruiser.
Since its launch, there have been lots of content available online which have been dissecting Meteor 350’s every attribute against Honda H’Ness CB350 which is also relatively new in the market. Another major aspect of both the bikes which needs to be scrutinised are the service costs of the two retro bikes.
We have already discussed H’Ness CB350’s first service cost details in our previous report. Now, we have details of the first service of Royal Enfield Meteor 350 which might give us an insight which motorcycle is easier and less expensive to maintain and repair. In a video uploaded by Abhinav Bhatt on YouTube, he discusses each and every little detail of all the procedures and costs incurred at Meteor’s first servicing.
    Meteor 350 Service Schedules
Royal Enfield had earlier claimed that Meteor 350 will be much easier and cheaper to maintain as compared to the older generation bikes. The service schedule of Meteor is similar to that of Interceptor 650. The first service is scheduled at 500 km or 6 months whoever comes earlier. The second and third services are scheduled at 5000 km or 6 months and at 10000 km or next 6 months respectively whichever comes earlier.
    [embedded content]
    Procedures Involved
In its first service, Royal Enfield replaces the engine oil. The company also recommends the owner to get his/her tappings adjusted. However, due to shortage of time, the vlogger in this video chooses to skip it.
The second service is just a normal check-up where the engine-oil is refilled in case it has been burnt up. The third one is a full service where the air filter and engine oil are replaced. Hence the engine oil and air filter are replaced every one year which helps in bringing down the cost.
One thing to point out is that Royal Enfield only dry washes the motorcycles in Delhi whereas Honda’s Big Wing’s service station does a wet wash. Interestingly, RE did not monitor the tyre pressure in the first service whereas Honda did in the case of CB350. The engine oil used by Royal Enfield is a semi-synthetic one from Liquid Gun made by Total for RE and its grade is 10W50 whereas Honda uses a semi-synthetic engine oil.
    Cost of Services
Coming to service costs, since this was a free service there was no labour charge involved, however, it does cost you for the change in engine oil, air filter and other replacements. RE offers four such free services for Meteor 350 whereas Honda is offering only three for CB350. The cost of labour in Royal Enfield is Rs 850 while for Honda it is Rs 700.
The cost of Royal Enfield’s semi-synthetic engine oil for 1.7-litre capacity is Rs 576. The air filter and oil filter cost Rs 150 and Rs 95 respectively. Finally, there is the cost of the lube/cleaning kit which is Rs. 232. The service team also cleans the air filter, spark plug chain and lube the chain also.
Thus total service cost for Meteor 350 turns out to be Rs 904 excluding the labour charge. This is substantially less than CB350’s first service cost of Rs 1,469 excluding labour. On comparison of the service costs for the first two years, CB350 is much more expensive at Rs 6,607 than Meteor’s Rs 2,424 thanks to an extra free service. Therefore, we can see for ourselves that Meteor 350 is a much cheaper bike to maintain. More

Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Wins Immortality as Hot Wheels Legends Car

A Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am was totally reimagined into something far cooler, and the judges of the Hot Wheels Legends Tour were convinced it was the winner.
Builder Riley Stair worked on it for almost two years.
Now that the 1970 Firebird is the third Legends Car winner, it will be built in 1:64 scale and sold worldwide.
Riley Stair spent 20 months in a lean-to in his parents’ side yard building what is now generally acknowledged as the greatest Pontiac Firebird ever made. And now Hot Wheels and the judges of the Hot Wheels Legends Tour have agreed with that general assessment, naming it the third car to gain status as a 1:64-scale Hot Wheels Legends car, meaning it will be manufactured into a little toy car and sold around the world. Your own kid might be playing with it on your kitchen floor come 2021.
“Yeah, so, it’s a bit wider than stock,” Stair told Hoonigan last year. “It’s a single layer of Pontiac, the rest is all tube chassis.”
Indeed, the car is seven feet wide, a stat that seems to have fascinated almost everyone who has seen it and fully everyone who has written about it in the two years since its debut. The flares are 18-gauge steel sheet he made himself. It has inboard pushrod suspension. The 400-cubic-inch LSV8 revs to 10,000 rpm. The exhaust oozes forward of the engine block like Play-Doh extruded from a Play-Doh press.
“Everything but the paint and powder was done in the side yard of the house,” Stair said.

Clearly, Stair is an artist. Let’s hope he is still working on cars. If there’s ever another SEMA show, let’s hope he is there with his next build.

Hot Wheels Legends Tour: How to Enter

In the Minds of Hot Wheels Collectors

    Great Toys for Car-Loving Kids

As for the Hot Wheels Legends Tour, the Tour started as an actual worldwide multi-city tour that included stops in Europe, Latin America, Asia and North America. More than 110,000 people stopped in on the tour to see the cars. There were almost 5000 cars entered. The last winner was a Nash, a car you might have a hard time seeing as cool, but check it out.
This year, with the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic, the tour went virtual. Our Road & Track brethren teamed with the iconic company and became a virtual stop on the tour. The final stop was live-streamed from Jay Leno’s Garage, co-hosted by auto media personality Jarod DeAnda and Leno himself on Leno’s YouTube page and the Hot Wheels Facebook page. The judges included Leno, Snoop Dogg, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, and Brionna Lynch. Special guests included 007 driver Ben Collins, Paxton Booth, and Tony Stewart. That panel then whittled down the choices from thousands of cars to one. So far only two other cars have made it to miniaturization; Stair’s is the third.

“By going virtual, the third year of the Hot Wheels Legends Tour demonstrated tremendous growth, engaging over 10 million fans from around the world,” said Ted Wu, vice president, global head of design for vehicles at Mattel. “With more vehicle entries this year than ever before, we know we found a special build that embodies the Hot Wheels challenger spirit with the ’70 Pontiac Trans Am. You see the vehicle and instantly know it is meant to be a Hot Wheels with the unique frame, engine, and purpose-driven build.”
“To have my car immortalized as a Hot Wheels die-cast for car lovers of all ages to enjoy means the world to me,” said Legends Tour Winner Riley Stair. “To think that my car in a 1:64 scale could make a lasting impression for a young kid who loves cars, as Hot Wheels have for so many of us, is a dream come true. I can’t wait to see my nephew Noah pushing my car around the living room!”
Looking forward to having one for the desk.

Rolls-Royce Black Badge Models Get Limited-Run Neon Nights Paint

Rolls-Royce’s Black Badge versions of the Wraith, Dawn, and Cullinan are being offered in three limited-run Neon Nights paint colors.
Rolls-Royce said that the colors were inspired by nature, including a tree frog and the flower from an evergreen tree.
There will be just three more examples of each color available for commission, the British automaker said.
If the Rolls-Royce Black Badge models weren’t already eye-catching enough, the British automaker is making sure that a select few draw the attention of anyone in their presence with the “Neon Nights” paint jobs. There are three nature-inspired colors—in the words of Rolls-Royce—in this series which will be available on a limited number of Cullinan, Wraith, and Dawn Black Badge models.
The three colors include a Lime Rock Green, Eagle Rock Red, and Mirabeau Blue. In addition to the three models shown in the photos, Rolls-Royce said that there will be just three more examples of each color available for commission.

The Lime Rock Green sported on the Wraith is inspired by the Australian green tree frog; the interior of the sedan comes with Scivaro Grey leather along with green accents. The Dawn is shown in the Eagle Rock Red, a color which was inspired by the flower of an evergreen tree native to Hawaii and has a leather interior in Selby Grey. And the Cullinan’s Mirabeau Blue comes from a butterfly native to Central and South America which is contrasted by the Arctic White leather interior.

Graco Child Seats Are 40 Percent Off at Walmart for Black Friday

Every vehicle that transports kids needs a child safety seat, but they can be pricey.
For this Black Friday there are some great deals on Graco’s already popularly priced models at Walmart.
Among the models available are infant, convertible, and boosters for kids from newborns to 100 pounds.
While you’re shopping around—probably online this year—for good deals, look beyond the flat-screen TVs and electronic devices and check out an impressive sale on child car seats. Every family with kids has these, and as you know, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recommends using newer models that are the right size for your child.
Here are several from the already reasonably priced Graco lineup that you can get at Walmart. Check NHTSA for its ease-of-use ratings before you buy.

    Graco SnugRide SnugLock 35 Elite
    walmart.com
    $153.99

The Graco SnugRide SnugLock 35 Elite infant car seat puts babies and young toddlers up to 35 pounds where they belong in the car: facing backward for safety. This seat comes on an adjustable base with a choice of four reclining positions. The “SnugLock” part of the name refers to the claimed “one-second connection” to secure it into the car, with a reassuring loud click when it’s correctly installed.

    Graco Extend2Fit Convertible Car Seat
    walmart.com
    $119.99

Graco’s Extend2Fit convertible car seat is billed as allowing the child to ride in the more secure rear-facing position for longer because it gets longer, stretching out the leg rests by five inches to accommodate kids up to 50 pounds before it has to turn forward. However, it can work forward facing for 22 to 65 pounds.

    Graco TrioGrow SnugLock 3-in-1
    walmart.com
    $159.00

The TrioGrow SnugLock three-in-one car seat is billed as being usable for kids from five pounds to 100 pounds. Keep the Cheerios picked up and the seat tidy, and it just might last you that long. It has a rear-facing harness position up to 40 pounds, can be forward facing from 22 pounds to 65 pounds, and works as a highback booster for kids from 40 up to 100 pounds.

    Graco TurboBooster Highback Booster Seat
    walmart.com
    $39.98

The TurboBooster high-back booster seat is intended to keep kids safe who weigh from 40 to 100 pounds. This is an age when a lot of kids hope they are allowed to stop using a car seat at all, but this one could change their minds. It’s got its own cupholders and six height-adjustable head positions to grow with your older child.

Tesla Is Working on 620-Mile Range for Future Cars, Upcoming Semi

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, interviewed as part of the European Battery Conference, said the automaker is working on achieving 621 miles of range for future vehicles, including the Semi.
His goal, he said, is making it possible for everyone to afford to buy an EV.
Tesla could also design and manufacture a small EV in Europe, Musk said, and it could be a hatchback.
Range is still important to potential EV buyers. At least Tesla seems to thank so. During an interview as part of the European Battery Conference, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that some of the vehicles in the company’s current lineup could hit more than 430 miles of range and that the company is working on a 621-mile-range vehicle.

Tesla Will Cut Battery Cost, Make $25K Car in 2023

Researcher Finds Flaw Allowing Tesla Model X Theft

Tesla Model 3 Gets Design Changes, Increased Range

“We even have some under development that could do 1000 kilometers [621 miles],” Musk said during a video call about the company’s plans which was focused on the Europe market. The CEO followed up that information by saying that the priority is on bringing down costs of these vehicles. That includes increasing energy density in packs, “so that everyone can afford to buy an electric car.”
The CEO said that the long-term goal would be to bring down the battery pack’s cost per kilowatt-hour. Experts believe that getting battery pack costs down to $100 per kWh would bring the cost of EVs down to gas-powered vehicles’ levels. Tesla also builds its own powertrain, which could give it a leg up over automakers that use off-the-shelf components from suppliers.
Musk has previously talked about bringing a $25,000 EV to market. Making a smaller vehicle is also something the company is thinking about for the Europe market. The Tesla CEO noted how difficult it is to find parking for the Model X in Berlin because of its size.
“In Europe, it would make sense to do a compact car, perhaps a hatchback,” Musk said. While that doesn’t mean a hatchback is definitely coming to Europe, it is a possibility and maybe, just maybe, the United States could get a hot EV hatch from the automaker if enough people hassle Musk on Twitter.

    Great Expectations for Semi
As for the Tesla Semi, Musk said that the company sees “a path over time to 1000 kilometers [621 miles] for a heavy-duty truck.” Musk said that achieving 800 km (427 miles) would be easy to achieve. The trucks are expected to haul 40 tons. “We think this will be compelling to trucking companies,” he said.

    Tesla

Like all of these pieces of news, the range relies on high-density battery packs. Of course, to achieve this you need a larger battery, which adds weight. Musk noted that the trucks will initially have to haul approximately an additional ton to achieve their target range. “You are able to carry basically the same cargo as a diesel truck. We think that maybe there’s a one-ton penalty. Maybe. At this point, we think that we can have less than one-ton cargo reduction, and we think long term it’s going to be zero cargo reduction for electric trucks.”
