Exports remained stable at 74,074 units as against 74,060 units in November 2019. Two-wheeler exports grew 10 percent, up at 63,730 units in November 2020 from 58,128 units YoY. TVS three-wheeler sales
Three-wheeler sales fell to 11,190 units at 35.06 percent decline from 17,232 units in November 2019. Three wheeler sales have been hit hard in the aftermath of nationwide lockdown. With emphasis on maintaining safe physical distance during daily commute, reliance on three-wheeler commute, especially for last mile needs stands debated.
A growing trend to foster a sense of safety and self preservation has meant, now more than ever before, more folks are considering a personal vehicle. And what better than a two-wheeler. In fact, current sales trends reflect much activity in the two-wheeler market with a large number of positive domestic sales reports. Shared transport, once considered a boon is now viewed as suspect under the overarching Covid-19 pandemic.
TVS ARIVE app and Intellicar acquisition
To support and improve the two-wheeler experience, TVS Motors has introduced its ARIVE app. Based on augmented reality (AR), it’s now available for TVS Apache RR310 and Apache RTR 200 4V motorcycles for in-depth product exploration and purchase experience.
The customer engagement approach will in time be rolled out for all its vehicles. An independent module will be available for all vehicles in the following format – Place to explore (AR-based), Scan a real bike (AR based), and the 3D mode (for non-AR compatible devices). An aerial view is available by using the camera option.
TVS Motor Company is also acquiring Bengaluru-based Intellicar Telematics Private Ltd for an estimated Rs 15 crore. The start-up works with integrated IoT (Internet of Things) solutions for fleet tracking and predictive maintenance solutions for a range of vehicles. The all cash deal will let TVS acquire 100 per cent stake. Its IoT solutions, analytics and data management abilities fits right in with TVS’ digital initiatives to enhance customer experience. More

Yamaha’s marketing team gave it a fancy pseudonym as ‘lord of the streets’ which it carried very well with its road presence thanks to its unique design. With its stylish looks and comfortable ride, it found places in many consumers’ garages. Come 2020, the naked roadster is in its second generation and still a very potent buy.

Mahindra e2o Electric Modified – Now Faster Than Tata Nexon EV

    Image – Hemank Dabhade
Mahindra e2o is no longer on sale and has been officially discontinued by the company

Known for its expertise in transforming fossil fuel cars into pure electric vehicles, Northway Motorsport has created the fastest electric car in the country. This is something new because when talking about entry-level electric cars, the focus is usually on range and charging time. The automotive firm also specializes in carrying out tweaks that enhance the range of existing electric cars.
For this project, an old Mahindra e2o has been used. As may be recalled, the e2o was discontinued and replaced with the larger e2o Plus in 2016. The automotive firm has also given a new name to its modified car by adding ‘Type-R’ suffix.
Mahindra e2o Type-R by Hemank Dabhade
Speed comparison with other electric cars
Although the exact details of the modification have not been revealed, the firm has claimed that its Mahindra e2o Type-R custom car can achieve top speed of 160 kmph. This is double the speed of existing Mahindra e2o Plus that has top speed of 80 kmph.
e2o Type-R also beats other electric cars in India such as Mahindra eVerito (86 kmph), Tata Tigor EV (80 kmph), and Tata Nexon EV (120 kmph). e2o Type-R is also faster than MG ZS EV (140 kmph) and Hyundai Kona Electric (155 kmph), which are imported as CKDs and assembled in India. Effectively making this the fastest electric car in India.

Modified e2o Type-R delivers 750 Nm of torque at wheels and has been equipped with 4-speed semi-automatic gearbox. Even when the vehicle has been redesigned for speed, it is still cost effective at just Rs 1 per kilometre.
Northway Motorsport has also said that most of the components used in this modification project have been sourced from within the country. The modified car meets OEM standards in terms of quality of parts and fitment.

    Key upgrades
Some of the key hardware changes include 6 pot brakes, drilled and slotted rotors, adjustable suspension, 9J forged wheels, and stretch fit low profile tyres. The car has also been equipped with internet connected smart features that can be accessed via an app or voice controls.
Mahindra e2o Type-R also gets a stylish makeover with changes such as black mesh grille and eye-catchy fluorescent yellow strips at top of the grille and on front bumper. On the inside, upgrades include a large floating touchscreen infotainment system and bucket seats.

This modification project is non-commercial and has been carried out purely for research and development purposes. So, if you own an e2o and want similar results, it’s unlikely that such modifications would be road legal. Just like its other project vehicles, e2o Type-R was tested on private tracks in a controlled environment.

Bentley Adds Scottish Tweed to Continental GT, Flying Spur, Bentayga

The Bentley Continental GT, Flying Spur, and Bentayga are all available to order with tweed interior trim from Mulliner, the British automaker’s bespoke division.
Four colors are available: a plaid pattern, dark blue, tan, or green.
The tweed fabric is sourced from the Lovat Mill in Scotland.
Bentley, much like Ivy League college professors, has a thing for tweed. The Bentley Continental GT convertible can be ordered with a tweed fabric top supplied from New England, and the Equestrian Edition features diamond quilted tweed fabrics. The Mulliner Bacalar also uses the fabric. Now the British automaker is adding tweed interior trim to other vehicles in its lineup, including the Continental GT, Flying Spur sedan, and Bentayga SUV. Only this time it’s from Scotland, and it’s available through Mulliner, Bentley’s bespoke commissioning division. Sophisticated.

There are four tweed patterns available: Glen Plaid–Tolsta Beach (pictured above), with a bold check pattern; Charcoal, a dark bluish color; Cheltenham, a countryside green; and Sand Herringbone, a tan color. The patterns adorn the interior door trim and blend well with the leather interior on the three grand tourers.

The tweed fabrics are sourced from the Lovat Mill in Hawick, Scotland, which uses no harmful chemicals in the production of its fabrics and takes 90 percent of its electricity from renewable sources. Partnering with the Lovat Mill is part of Bentley’s Beyond 100 strategy, which is a plan for the British automaker to become the worldwide leader in “sustainable luxury mobility.” Its lineup will consist entirely of plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles by 2026.

FCA Recalls 2014–2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee with EcoDiesel Engine

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has issued a recall for 29,884 of its 2014–2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs with the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine.
The problem is with the exhaust-gas recirculation (EGR) cooler, which could crack and result in a fire.
Owners of the affected Grand Cherokees will be notified beginning on December 31, 2020.
FCA has issued a recall for 28,884 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs from model years 2014 to 2019 equipped with the 3.0-liter EcoDiesel engine. The recall is due to the potential for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler to crack because of “thermal fatigue,” which could lead to vaporized coolant entering the intake manifold and potentially resulting in a fire, according to a filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
FCA said that it is unaware of any injuries or accidents as a result and said it will fix this issue by replacing that part with one not susceptible to cracking. The automaker will begin notifying the owners of the affected vehicles beginning on December 31.
Jeep owners can check the NHTSA website or NHTSA’s new recall app to see if their vehicle is involved in the recall.
