2022 Nissan Rogue Sport Previewed by Global Qashqai SUV

Nissan has issued teasers for the Europe-market Qashqai that give us an indication of what the next Rogue Sport will look like.
The Rogue Sport is a subcompact crossover slotting in between the Kicks and the Rogue.
The new Rogue Sport will likely arrive in the U.S. for the 2022 model year.
The Nissan Rogue Sport is set to follow in the footsteps of its bigger sibling’s redesign, with a new version likely to arrive for the 2022 model year. We’ve now gotten our first glimpse at the new Rogue Sport thanks to Nissan’s European arm, which has begun teasing the exterior and interior of the closely related Qashqai SUV.

    Nissan

The camouflaged Qashqai prototype seen here looks like a 2021 Rogue with the seams taken in a bit, as its front end has a similar headlight arrangement and its rear end features a more tapered greenhouse. The new Rogue Sport will likely continue to reside on the larger end of the subcompact SUV segment, fitting in above the entry-level Kicks and below the compact Rogue.

2021 Nissan Kicks Arrives with More Standard Tech

Nissan is talking about the Qashqai’s e-Power and 12-volt hybrid drivetrains for the European market, but we anticipate the Rogue Sport will continue on with a more conventional gasoline engine in the U.S. Naturally aspirated 2.0-liter or 2.5-liter inline-four engines are the most likely choices, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and either front- or all-wheel drive—nothing revolutionary under the skin here.

    Nissan

The interior is likely to be a big step up, though, at least according to images that show a modern-looking dashboard with a digital instrument cluster and a large tablet-style touchscreen infotainment system. We were impressed with the nicer interior materials in the latest Rogue, too, so we’d expect a similar improvement for the Rogue Sport.
Nissan Europe seems nearly ready to reveal the full thing, but we have yet to hear from Nissan USA about the new Rogue Sport’s arrival on our shores. Look for more information to come on the new crossover sometime in the first half of 2021.

2022 Mitsubishi Outlander Looks Edgier, Will Arrive Early Next Year

Photos of the 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander have leaked on Instagram via allcarnews, and the Japanese automaker has also shared a teaser image of the next-gen SUV.
The new Outlander is rumored to share a platform with the 2021 Nissan Rogue, and Mitsubishi says it’ll also have a nicer interior.
It’ll make its debut in February and go on sale in the U.S. in the spring.
Mitsubishi has announced that the 2022 Outlander—which will be larger, slotting in between the compact crossover and mid-size SUV segment—is going to be unveiled in February. It’ll be the first vehicle in Mitsubishi’s lineup to feature the Japanese automaker’s new bold design language, and it will go on sale in the U.S. in the spring.

Photos of the new Outlander have already leaked via Instagram (pictured above), and we spied the new crossover last year. Now Mitsubishi has shared its first teaser image of the next-generation car, which gets its styling from the Engelberg Tourer concept. The front end looks similar to the current car, incorporating lots of chrome but slightly lifted, sleeker, and modernized. The same goes for the rear, which shows thinner taillights.

    Mitsubishi

The new Outlander is rumored to share its platform with the Nissan Rogue, which just got a sharp redesign as well, and it will go up against it and other popular choices such as the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V. The Outlander, like the Volkswagen Tiguan, is unusual for the segment in that it has a third row. On the Outlander, it’s standard, while on the Tiguan it’s optional on AWD and standard on FWD versions.

2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Spied Looking Big

Tested: 2021 Rogue Ratchets Up Its Visual Appeal

Mitsubishi says the new Outlander will be its “best equipped” car ever sold in the U.S., loaded with new technology and interior refinements. So we expect to see nicer materials used throughout and a larger, more responsive touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
The 2022 Outlander is also expected to share the Nissan Rogue’s 181-hp 2.5-liter inline-four paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive, though all-wheel drive will likely be optional. And, like the current-generation SUV, a PHEV model will also be available and is rumored to use a larger 2.4-liter inline-four (the current model uses a 2.0-liter unit) with an electric range of 43 miles.
We’ll know more about the next-generation Outlander in the coming months. It will make its debut via live stream in February, and it’ll go on sale in the U.S. shortly after.

Okinawa Electric Scooters With Lead Acid Battery – Discontinued

    Image for reference.
Okinawa Scooters now have five lithium-ion models with battery capacities ranging from 1.25 kWh to 3.3 kWh

Okinawa Scooters which specializes in pure electric products has announced that it has discontinued its lead-acid battery pack based models. With this move, the company’s portfolio now consists of only products equipped with detachable lithium-ion battery packs.
Lead-Acid battery packs on the decline
With lithium-ion battery packs widely considered to be superior to lead-acid units in terms of performance, more and more customers are willing to make that extra investment. All modern day scooters which are getting launched now, are powered by the advanced lithium-ion battery packs.
Moreover, with the Indian government’s FAME-II subsidy covering only lithium-ion battery pack equipped scooters, their popularity rose sharply in the recent times. So, for a major e-scooter manufacturer like Okinawa, focusing on lithium-ion models is the right way to prepare for India’s upcoming EV boom.
Okinawa Electric Scooters kick started its operations four years ago with lead-acid models and has sold over 34,000 units of them. However, since the introduction of scooters with removable lithium-ion battery packs, the customer preference inclined towards the newer models so much so that the company has now decided to pull the plug on lead-acid batteries. Below are the Okinawa electric scooters which are now on offer from 1st Dec 2020, and their prices and range.

The homegrown brand has sold over 74,000 scooters in the country so far and it aims to take this tally to 90,000 units by the end of this financial year. Speaking about the move to withdraw lead-acid battery based products, Jeetender Sharma, Founder and MD, Okinawa Scooters, stated that all future models from the brand will be equipped with detachable lithium-ion battery pack for convenient charging.
    Current product portfolio
The company currently retails both high-speed and slow-speed models equipped with lithium-ion battery packs. The high-speed portfolio is composed of i-Praise+, Praise Pro and Ridge+ which are equipped with 3.3 kWh, 2.0 kWh and 1.74 kWh removable li-ion battery packs respectively.
The low-speed family which has a top-speed of 25 kmph and requires no license or registration consists of Lite and R30. The R30 gets a 1.34 kWh pack while the Lite features a 1.24 kWh unit. The high-speed range is eligible for the FAME-II subsidy.
With a range of 139 km on a full charge, the flagship Okinawa i-Praise+ emerges as a compelling proposition. The e-scooter gets LED headlamps and DRLs, USB charging port, smartphone connectivity, digital instrument console, regenerative braking and so on.
The stylish Okinawa i-Praise+ is priced at INR 1.09 lakh (Ex-showroom). It competes with the likes of TVS iQube, Ather 450 and Bajaj Chetak. We could see more and more electric scooter brands shifting from lead-acid to lithium-ion battery technology in the foreseeable future. More

Pravaig Extinction Electric Car Founder Explains The EV – New Details

    Image – DD News
Founder of Pravaig, Siddhartha Bagri has given an extensive TV interview to DD News

With electric vehicle (EV) technology being the talk in the automotive industry globally, we have seen massive leaps in technologies in this field in the last couple of years. However, most of these technologies have been foreign which is a point of concern as it has been assured that EVs will be future solutions to mobility.
Last week, Bengaluru-based electric startup Pravaig Dynamics revealed its first EV prototype going by the name Extinction MK1. Pravaig expects the MK1 to put its name in the global EV market. It is also the first attempt by an Indian firm to build a luxury EV. Company’s founder, Siddhartha Bagri has now revealed interesting new details about their upcoming electric car, as well as future plans.
    Exterior Design
Going by looks, the futuristic-looking Extinction Mk1 does manage to grab one’s eyeballs and its overall design lends an exclusivity on roads. The prototype sports a two-door Coupe like design with a sloping roofline, however, the production-spec model is expected to be offered as a 4-door electric sedan. The prototype receives a low-slung profile with a sleek front end flaunting projector LED headlamps which are connected by a thin LED strip.
A similar LED bar of lights connects the taillamps at rear as well with side trunks indicators on fenders. It also sports ‘Pravaig’ lettering bold at rear prominently positioned between taillights. Side profile adopts a minimalist approach with a distinctive shoulder line. It rides on blacked-out multi-spoke alloy wheels.

Recently Mk1 was taken out on the roads of Bengaluru for the public to get a glimpse of it where company CEO, Siddhartha Bagri, let out some crucial details regarding the upcoming luxury EV. He revealed that the prototype has been more than 90 percent built locally with about some high-end critical components imported from overseas countries. He also added that Mk1 is likely to go into serial production by November 2021.
    Powertrain
On being asked about the car’s battery life, Bagri claimed that the current battery pack can provide a life-span of up to 10 lakh kilometers. Speaking of battery, the Mk1 is powered by an electric motor which draws its power from a 96 kWh li-ion battery pack. This powertrain generates an output of 200 bhp and claims a range of 504 km. it can clock a top speed of 196 kmph and can do a 0-100 kmph sprint in just 5.4 seconds.

If claims are proved to be correct, it could become the longest range EV in India upon its launch. Battery could be charged using a DC fast charger which can juice up the power bank from 0-80 percent in just 30 minutes. Pravaig could also introduce Mk1 in a number of variants depending on different battery pack options.
    Expected Launch
Pravaig intends to sell 250 units of Mk1 annually and will be limited to Delhi and Bengaluru initially. Sale will then be extended to other cities such as Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad. Prices of the electric sedan have not been revealed yet as the company intends to introduce it on a leasing plan, at least initially. it is expected to reach consumers by late next year or early 2022. CFMoto Zeeho Cyber Electric Scooter Concept – Likely Rival To Ather 450X

CFmoto Zeeho Cyber Electric Scooter Concept
CFMoto has announced the launch of their new sub-brand Zeeho; which will launch future ready electric two wheelers

Chinese automaker CFMoto has launched its new brand Zeeho. Under Zeeho, they have unveiled their electric scooter concept named Cyber, which is expected to enter production in 2021.
This will be the first electric scooter by CFMoto and it highlights the company’s strategy to increase focus on electric two-wheelers in the coming years. CFMoto’s current global portfolio comprises motorcycles, side-by-side utility vehicles, all-terrain vehicles and powersports engines.
CFMoto Zeeho Cyber design and features
In its concept form, Zeeho Cyber sports a futuristic look and feel. Some of the key design elements include striking LED headlamp and DRLs, sculpted bodywork with a mix of sharp cuts and smooth curves, a radical seat design, shortened tail and edgy tail lamps and turn indicators. The rear wheel is placed farther than the tail section, which seems something new for a scooter.
Talking about features, Zeeho Cyber gets an iPad like instrument panel that has GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It supports several functions such as navigation, voice controls and keyless start. Smartphone pairing is also available.

For optimal performance in varied riding conditions, users can select from the three riding modes of Eco, Street and Sport. These can be accessed via the instrument panel.
    CFMoto Zeeho Cyber powertrain
Zeeho Cyber tech specs are quite impressive and better than many of the current breed of electric scooters. It utilizes a 4 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack that sends power to a highly efficient motor with energy conversion rate of 92 percent. It is capable of generating 13.4 hp of max power, which can be sustained over longer durations without the risk of overheating or damaging the battery or motor. Available peak torque at the wheel is 213 Nm.

As per NEDC (New European Driving Cycle) standards, Zeeho Cyber has a range of more than 130 km. It can reach 0 to 50 kmph in just 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 110 kmph. This makes it a lot faster than Ather 450x – which is currently the quickest electric scooter on sale in India. Zeeho Cyber also has an higher range, as compared to Ather 450x.
One of the key strengths of Zeeho Cyber is its advanced battery pack that can work in temperature of -20° to 55°. This makes it suitable for most parts of the world. The battery can be recharged 2,500 times, which is around 8 years of lifespan or 3 lakh kilometres for the average user. The battery comes with fast charging, allowing users to load 80% in just around 30 minutes.

It is possible that CFMoto may introduce Zeeho Cyber electric in the Indian market. The lifestyle electric scooter segment has a lot of potential in the country and customers are willing to pay for a good product.
Once launched, this scooter is a potential rival to Ather 450x and the upcoming electric scooter from KTM, based on Bajaj Chetak platform. As of now, CFMoto has four motorcycles in its India portfolio – 300 NK, 650 NK, 650 MT and 650 GT. CFMoto had also teased a Zeeho electric bike, which is another product that could be considered for the Indian market. More

Jet-Powered VW Beetle Is Your Ticket to Crazytown

If you’ve spent as much time browsing the internet for cool car stuff as I have, you’ve probably seen this Beetle before. Built in the mid-2000s by Ron Patrick, a mechanical engineer with a Ph.D. from Stanford University, it retains its factory front-wheel-drive internal-combustion motor up front but also sports a General Electric T58-8F turbine engine mounted where the rear seats and trunk would normally be. Well, it’s now for sale on Craigslist for the low, low price of $550,000.
Because the car retains its standard drivetrain, it’s able to be street registered and driven around like any normal car. Switch on the 300-pound jet engine and you’re blessed with an additional 1350 horsepower. Originally designed to power helicopters, it idles at 11,000 rpm, and can spin up to 26,000. It’s controlled using a throttle lever mounted next to the car’s factory gear selector.

The highly detailed listing description points out the many ways in which Patrick modified the car for easy, reliable use. There’s a custom Kevlar fuel cell for the kerosene to power the turbine motor, and there’s a heat blanket underneath to keep the rear bumper from melting. Here’s how the engine’s mounting points work:

The force from the jet is harnessed using sandwich plates bolted to contoured aluminum billets inserted into the frame rails. The engine has rigid mounts with rubber bushings in the front and the back that are sliding. It grows as it warms up, so the engine mounts have to account for this.

The car is currently listed on Craigslist in San Francisco for $550,000. For any other Beetle, that’d be way too many zeros. For this one, though, it’s a bit more reasonable. And while you may be able to buy a new Lamborghini Aventador with that money, that doesn’t have a jet engine.
