Yamaha India limited by low sales volume
For Yamaha India, monthly sales of upward of 50k units is a positive shift. For long the brand has been relegated to being a low sales volume entity here. Even though Yamaha motor reported more than 50 percent growth last month, it still finds itself last on the list of big brand manufacturers when it comes to sales volume.
Among the big 7, Yamaha has a lot of ground to cover. Together, the two wheeler industry appears to be in the green last month, only if just. For the bulk of it’s sales, Yamaha India depends on the FZ series, and its Ray and Fascino scooters.

2022 Nissan Frontier, Pathfinder Kick Up Dust in Pre-Reveal Teasers

Nissan has given us a glimpse of what to expect with the new 2022 Frontier and 2022 Pathfinder ahead of their unveiling this Thursday.
The new Frontier will be completing its redesign which started last year with a new powertrain, while the Pathfinder will be wholly redesigned this year.
The reveal will be streamed live at 1 p.m. Eastern time on February 4 on the Nissan website.
Nissan is set to reveal the 2022 Frontier and the 2022 Pathfinder this Thursday, February 4, and ahead of those debuts, the automaker has teased both of the vehicles, giving us a glimpse of what to expect. The Frontier, which got a new powertrain last year, is completing its redesign this year with a new look. Meanwhile, the Pathfinder will be entirely new for the 2022 model year.

2020 Nissan Frontier: New Engine, Same Old Truck

2021 Nissan Armada Gets a New Look, Updated Tech

Tested: 2020 Nissan Frontier Is a Resto Rod

Both teasers show the vehicles darting down unpaved, sandy roads, suggesting for at least the Pathfinder—which currently doesn’t offer any sort of off-road trim—could gain some off-road attributes. The teaser of the Frontier PRO-4x shows an upright, aggressive-looking grille which matches the direction other small pickups have gone. The Pathfinder clip shows a quick shot of the rear of the car, showing that the Pathfinder name is written across the rear trunk, as on the new Armada. It’s difficult to tell from the teaser, but the Pathfinder may also be regaining its more upright and trucklike stance that disappeared in the last generational changeover in 2013.

Nissan started changes to the Frontier last year when it introduced a new 310-hp 3.8-liter V-6 to the pickup. With that change, the manual transmission was discontinued, and the Frontier now comes standard with a nine-speed automatic. The Pathfinder could also see some changes to its powertrain including dropping the standard continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

Ford Performance Rolls Out Three Custom Bronco 4400 Rally Trucks

Ford Performance has created a trio of Bronco 4400 rally trucks racing this weekend in the King of the Hammers race in California.
The purpose-built Bronco SUVs have custom tubular chassis along with long-travel suspensions to handle the mix of rock crawling and high-speed desert rally driving seen through the race.
This Wednesday, Ford will also be revealing a “never-before-seen” Bronco model live.
This weekend, in the form of the Bronco 4400 custom-built rally truck, the Ford Bronco name will be darting across the California desert in the grueling King of the Hammers off-road race. The three Bronco 4400s, which will race in the Ultra4 4400 unlimited class, have custom tubular chassis along with huge off-road tires attached to long-travel suspensions. These trucks were purpose-built to overcome the mix of rock crawling and high-speed desert rally driving which the King of the Hammers race is known for.

Here’s the Real 2020 Ford Bronco in Racing Form

All of the Off-Road Goodies on the New Ford Bronco

2021 Ford Bronco’s Six Trim Levels Explained

The Bronco 4400s will be tested in the King of the Hammers race. In last year’s rally, there were 105 entrants who started the race, and of those, 44 finished. The winner of that race took the podium with a time of just over seven hours; the last racer to complete the race finished roughly seven hours after the winner.
Ford Performance didn’t release many details on the powertrain going into the Bronco 4400s but said that they’ll be powered by high-powered engines and will also get custom 4×4 systems which build on the GOAT driving modes seen in the production Ford Bronco. The custom Broncos are much different than the Bronco R raced in the Baja 1000, a truck which took many of the components from the yet-to-be-revealed Bronco.

Perhaps most exciting, Ford said that it will reveal a “never-before-seen” Bronco model live on February 3, the qualifying day for the race. We’re unsure what the automaker has in store, but we’ll be checking that live stream to see what it will be.

TVS Motor Sales Jan 2021 – Apache, Jupiter, NTorq, Radeon

    Image – The Bengal Rider
The company is expected to maintain its sales momentum in the coming months as well despite no significant product launch activities

Buoyed by the market recovery, TVS Motor Co registered impressive year-on-year growth in the domestic market in the month of January 2021. The company’s motorcycle portfolio led the growth momentum.
    TVS Sales – January 2021
Last month, TVS dispatched 307,149 units (domestic and export volume for both two and three wheelers) as against January 2020’s tally of 234,920 units at a YoY growth of 31%. Overall two wheeler sales stood at 294,596 units last month, presenting a growth of 33.64%.
In the domestic two wheeler market, TVS clocked 205,216 units, achieving nearly 26% growth. Motorcycles alone accounted for 136,790 units, 45% more than what it was in January 2020. Domestic scooter sales figure stood at 98,319 units with a YoY growth of 35.83%.
    Three wheeler sales
The only chink in TVS’ armor is the three-wheeler division which posted negative growth of 13.31% at 12,553 units (domestic and exports). Both passenger and cargo three-wheeler segment in India has been struggling for quite a while now and the pandemic crisis amplified the already difficult situation.
    TVS Motor Sales Jan 2021
    Exports
TVS Motor Co’s export surpassed the 1 lakh unit mark last month with 100,926 units shipped. This accounts for a positive year-on-year growth of nearly 43%. As many as 89,380 TVS two wheelers were shipped overseas in January 2021 which is 55% higher than January 2020’s figure.
    Outlook
TVS has managed to achieve an impressive sales growth without any significant product launch activities in the recent past. The company has been introducing special editions and updates for its existing products at regular intervals and this approach is evidently paying off.
While the Hosur-based two wheeler major is expected to augment its eclectic product portfolio this year, we don’t expect to witness any big ticket launches except for a possible variant extension of the flagship Apache RR310. While no details are out in the open, the new motorcycle is set to set to be the second TVS product to be born out of its partnership with BMW.
If we have to bet, we would put our money on a sharply styled street fighter or a retro-classic roadster or cruiser to take on the likes of Honda CB350. The trademark registration of Zepplin R adds gravity to this claim.
For the uninitiated, the TVS Zeppelin (yes, the concept name had an extra ‘e’) is a design concept which was unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo. The study previewed a low-slung power cruiser which could plug the gaping void in the brand’s portfolio. If the concept is anything to go by, one can expect the production model to be equipped with LED headlamps, digital instrument console, inverted telescopic front fork, meaty tyres and a sporty styling. TVS may also throw in state-of-the-art connectivity features. More

Hero MotoCorp 10 crore production milestone
Hero MotoCorp has had a great run through January 2021. On January 21, 2021 the company announced it had reached cumulative production milestone of 100 million (10 crore) units to date. The 100 millionth unit to rollout was deemed to be a Xtreme 160R unit from the manufacturer’s Haridwar plant.
The milestone was marked by the introduction of six celebration edition models. They include Splendor+, Xtreme 160R, Passion Pro and Glamour; and two scooters – Destini 125 and Maestro Edge 110. Sales for these celebratory edition begins in February 2021. More

Royal Enfield Jan 2021 Sales – Classic, Meteor, Himalayan, 650 Twins

    Royal Enfield 650
Royal Enfield reports growth in domestic sales and exports in January 2020

Royal Enfield has reported 5 percent YoY growth for total sales in January 2021. Sales is up at 68,887 units, up from 63,520 units at volume gain of 5,367 units. FY21 YTD sales is reported at 4,76,633 units at 20 percent decline from 5,96,609 units for the comparable 10 months in FY20. Volume loss stood at 1,19,976 units.
While Royal Enfield’s dominance in the 350cc segment in the domestic market is largely unchallenged, theres’s been some recent competition. Honda CB 350 was launched in recent months, and the brand is likely to launch a CB 350 based cafe racer in the next fortnight.
Royal Enfield exports in January 2021
For January 2021, exports account for 4,515 units, up at 103 percent from 2,228 units at volume gain of 2,287 units. Export volumes more than doubling last month is good news for the manufacturer.
In recent months, the brand has refocused its export goals, and is on a quest to be recognised as a top business house in the mid-size segment (250cc -750cc). FY21 YTD exports is down 17 percent at 28,192 units from 33,776 units at volume loss of 5,584 units.
    Royal Enfield Sales Jan 2021
On the export front, Royal Enfield has open its maiden store in Japan last month. Having appointed PCI Co as its distributor, the manufacturer now sells five of its motorcycles – Bullet 500; Classic 500; Himalayan (411cc); Int 650; and Continental GT 650 from its Suginami store in Tokyo. On this front too Honda is likely to put forward strong competition. Honda recently launched the CB350 in Japan.
Royal Enfield domestic sales YTD FY21
Domestic sales last month stood at 64,372 units at 5 percent growth from 61,292 units. Volume gain stood at 3,080 units. Of total sales, domestic sales accounted for 93.45 percent, and exports at 6.55 percent. MoM domestic sales fell by 1.71 percent. Volume loss stood at 1,120 units, down from 65,492 units.
MoM exports grew by 28.89 percent. Up at 1,012 units from 3,503 units exported in December 2020. MoM decline is marginal at .16 percent at loss of about 100 units, down from 68,995 units. YTD FY21 domestic sales decline is reported at 20 percent, down at 4,48,441 percent, down from 5,62,833 units. Volume loss stood at 1,14,392 units.
Of this, it’s the 350cc segment offerings that contribute to a lion’s share of domestic sales. The segment has in recent weeks benefited from the introduction of its Meteor motorcycle.
This isn’t the only 350cc segment offering the manufacturer has been readying over months. There’s the likelihood of what’s now commonly known as the Hunter roadster to be launched soon. More
