Mercedes-Benz EQC Electric SUV Is Not Coming to U.S. after All

Mercedes-Benz said today, as reported by Autoblog, that the 2021 EQC will not be offered in the United States “for now.”
The EQC had previously been announced as the first Mercedes EV coming to the U.S., but it was delayed last year.
The first U.S.-market Mercedes EV instead will be the 2022 EQS, an electric version of the S-class, coming this summer.
The Mercedes-Benz 2021 EQC electric SUV was originally slated to land in U.S. showrooms in early 2020. The German automaker then delayed the delivery of the vehicle to the U.S. market by a year, with an updated launch expected for early 2021. Now, according to a report by Autoblog, Mercedes has decided the EQC will “not be offered in the United States for now” due to “market developments.”

Brabus Adds Attitude to Mercedes EQC EV

    2020 Mercedes-Benz EQC Priced Just under $69,000

The Electric Mercedes EQC400 Is No Tesla

The Mercedes-Benz EQC400 4Matic mid-size electric SUV is intended to compete with the Audi e-tron, Jaguar I-Pace, and Tesla Model X. The vehicle’s specs and price, starting at $68,895, had been announced for the U.S. market as early as 2019, providing the luxury experience buyers expect from the brand in an EV package.

Due to the original delay of the 2021 EQC, the upcoming 2022 EQS electric sedan had already become the first electric Mercedes slated to arrive in the U.S. market. It will be unveiled this spring and arrive in U.S. dealerships this summer.
As for the future of the EQC, the “for now” portion of Mercedes’s statement did leave the automaker some wiggle room in potentially bringing it here eventually. Car and Driver has reached out to the automaker for comment.

2022 Kia Carnival Will Make Its U.S. Debut February 23

Kia has confirmed that the next generation of its Sedona minivan will be called Carnival in the U.S.
The Carnival name has previously been used for the global version of this van.
The 2022 Kia Carnival will make its U.S. debut February 23.
The Sedona is dead, long live the Carnival. Kia has confirmed that its new minivan will get a name change, adopting the global Carnival moniker and dropping the Sedona nameplate that’s been in use in the U.S. for the previous three generations of this van.
We’ve already seen the global version of the new 2022 Kia Carnival, and we’ll get full U.S. details on February 23, when the 2022 Carnival makes its official debut on our shores via livestream. A teaser image shows that it looks very similar to the version we’ve already seen, and the darkened grille suggests that this could be the first Kia model in the U.S. with the company’s new logo.
A filing on the EPA site shows that the 2022 Carnival will come with a single powertrain in the U.S., a 3.5-liter V-6 and an eight-speed automatic. That means it will likely offer more power than the outgoing Sedona, which has a 3.3-liter V-6. Its fuel economy also improves from 21 mpg combined to 22 mpg combined.

Kia Sedona Could Be Renamed Carnival for 2022

2022 Kia Sedona Full Details Revealed

Kia Shows New Ultra-Luxury Minivan with Curtains

The 2022 Kia Carnival also looks to have a far more modern interior with a larger touchscreen infotainment system and nicer materials. It’s likely that the available second-row lounge seats will make their way to the U.S. version, although we don’t think we’ll see anything like the ultra-luxury Korea-market model with curtains and an air purifier on our shores.
Look for more details to come next week as we learn more about the U.S. specs and information about the 2022 Carnival. It should go on sale here later this year.

New Indian Chief Motorcycles India Launch Confirmed For Q2 2021

    New Indian Chief Bobber
New Indian Chief motorcycles are offered with common features such as an LED headlamp, LED taillight, a USB port, and keyless ignition as standard

Exactly a century back Indian Motorcycles rolled out its premiere Chief line of motorcycles. To mark the centenary of the iconic bobbers, the American bikemaker has revealed the updated Chief range of motorcycles. The new lineup of Chief bikes will consist of three models- Chief Dark Horse, Chief Bobber Dark Horse and Super Chief Limited with different variants in each of them.
All three models are based on the same platform which utilises a steel-tube frame although all three present a different exterior appeal. Another major commonality is their similar powertrain setup which uses a Euro-5 compliant 1890cc V-Twin Thunderstroke 116 engine which kicks out a torque of 162 Nm.
In terms of features, all three motorcycles are equipped with the brand’s Ride Command system. This system provides riders turn-by-turn navigation and allows them to toggle and access their motorcycle’s ride information along and also connect their smartphone to the bike’s instrument console and access media functions.
While Chief Dark Horse and Chief Bobber Dark Horse adopt a blacked-out theme with gloss finished panels, Super Chief Limited comes with elements laced in chrome. Another point of difference is that the former two come with a single-piece seat as standard, while the latter comes with a pillion seat as well.
    New Indian Chief Dark Horse
    Chief Dark Horse
Starting with Chief Dark Horse, unlike its outgoing predecessor, has ditched its old-school looks for a modern attire. This is mainly due to its stripped-down look with a new slim headlight bucket, drag handlebars, exposed rear suspension unit, absence of a front fork sleeve and mid-set footpegs. It rides on 19-inch front and 16-inch rear cast alloy wheels along with a solo bobber seat.
Chief Dark Horse comes in three paint schemes- Stealth Gray, Black Smoke and Alumina Jade Smoke. Like the other two models, Chief Dark Horse also comes with features such as cruise control, ABS, rear-cylinder deactivation and throttle-by-wire as standard. It has been priced at USD at $16,999 (equivalent to INR 12.38 lakh).
    Chief Bobber Dark Horse
Chief Bobber Dark Horse like its sibling wears a dark exterior with several blacked-out components. However, unlike Chief, the Chief Bobber gets a mini-ape hanger, forward-set foot controls and rides on 16-inch spoke wheels.
New Indian Chief Bobber Dark Horse
In addition, its front and rear suspension units are covered to give them a chunky look and a bigger bucket headlight than Chief Dark Horse. Colour schemes offered in this model are Black Smoke, Titanium Smoke, and Sagebrush Smoke. It is offered at a price of $18,999 (equivalent to INR 13.83 lakh).
    Super Chief, Super Chief Limited
Coming to Super Chief, it is a new addition to Indian Motorcycles’ lineup. It is more of an urban tourer as it is evident from its design which features a wide cruiser handlebar, broad footboards, a quick-release windscreen and leather saddlebags. Other design highlights include fork covers, a premium chrome exhaust system and 16-inch spoke wheels.
    New Indian Chief Super Limited
It is offered in three colour options including Maroon Metallic, Black Metallic and Blue Slate Metallic. While Super Chief is offered at a price of USD 18,499 (Rs 13.47 lakh), the Super Chief Limited will burn one’s pockets by USD 20,999 (Rs 15.29 lakh).
All three motorcycles will be launched in India by June 2021. Mr. Lalit Sharma, Country Manager, Polaris India Pvt. Ltd. said, “We are looking forward to bringing in the new lineup of motorcycle for the Indian bike lovers. We are very positive that the new lineup will be a huge success for our Indian range of motorcycles.” The brand recently launched the updated 2021 lineup for the Indian market. More

Royal Enfield 650cc Continental GT Modified Into A Racing Machine

Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Modified by Goblin Works. Images – Bike Exif
The modified Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 gets carbon fiber panels, a bigbore kit and a lot more

With their simple mechanical and electronic architectures, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 have quickly established themselves as modifiers’ delight. Since their global debut we have come across numerous tastefully modified RE 650s but this one, executed by UK-based Partridge Design, is one of the sharpest we have seen.
Modified Royal Enfield Continental GT 650
Conceived and executed by Anthony Partridge who co-hosts Goblin Works Garage show on Discovery Channel, this modified Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 came with a simple brief from RE’s head of industrial design Adrian Sellers – “to build a thoroughbred racer”. That is exactly what Anthony set out to build.
The end result is a sharp looking racing equipment swathed in exotic carbon fiber elements which hardly has anything in common with the stock Continental GT 650. However, the modified bodykit is designed with the help of 3D printing technology to be able to fit a stock motorcycle quickly and easily. So, it is not just a one-off project for a TV show but it is also a commercially available kit any Conti 650 owner could purchase.
    Custom parts
Forming the centerpiece of the race bike’s styling is its carbon-fiber fuel tank which was custom made by GIA Engineering. The Racefit fuel filler cap is an art in itself. The custom swing arm was also GIA’s handwork. The custom motorcycle is suspended by premium Ohlins FGR300 inverted telescopic forks at the front and Ohlins TTX GP Pro monoshock at the rear.
Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 Modified
The modified Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 boasts of Moto GP-like quick-release axles which hold BST carbon fiber wheels. The tyres are Dunlop Sportmax GPA units. Braking is taken care of by Galfer discs with nickel plated Brembo calipers, Venhill brake lines and Magura front master cylinder. Magura also supplied the racer’s hydraulic clutch system.
The motorcycle also gets a new rear sub-frame, complete with a fresh carbon fiber tailpiece. Some tweaks were made to the frame so as to accommodate wider rear wheel. Other noteworthy items on the motorcycle include Motogadget electronic elements, Rizoma clip-on handlebar, foot pegs, mirrors and turn indicators, Highsider LED headlamp, Reese Racing switch gear and Antigravity lithium-ion battery.
    The engine
Powering this modified Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 is a modified 750 cc engine with S&S Cycle bigbore kit with custom power commander, foam filter and a hand-made exhaust system. Power and torque figures are not being discussed but it is definitely well over the stock motorcycle’s hp and Nm respectively.
Partridge Design pitted its creation against the stock motorcycle on a test track under icy conditions. Not surprisingly, it was observed that the custom GT 650 was much faster, sharper and more fun to ride than what rolls off RE’s assembly line.

Honda CB350RS Scrambler Rendered In 4 New Colours – Black, Red, Yellow, Blue

    2021 Honda CB350RS Black – Render
Honda BigWing might expand this range of India-made classic motorcycles with different engine configurations in future

Honda teased the upcoming iteration of Honda H’Ness CB350. This version of CB350 will likely be called CB350RS. It is likely to be a scrambler derivative based on CB350 classic roadster. This bike is slated to be launched on February 16 and ahead of its launch, a digital rendering of the same has been created by Pratyush Rout.
This digitally rendered image of CB350RS as a scrambler gives an idea of what this upcoming bike could look like. It has been imagined in four production-spec colours of Black, Red, Yellow and Blue. A bit of the inspiration has been carried forward from the CB1100RS as well as the officially revealed teasers by the company.
    Design Highlights
Other parts of it have been curated very realistically. This includes a slimmer seat at rear for the pillion just as revealed in the teaser. Apart from this, other design highlights from this digitally imagined render include a chopped off fender at front, a horizontal tail section, engine assembly cowl and a clip-on handlebar.
Rest of the details are very similar to the current retro-styled classic roadster. Since it is expected to be a sportier version of H’Ness CB350, it is expected to feature an aggressive seating position thanks to clip-on handlebars. USD forks in the front and rear-set footpegs as shown in this rendered image.

In the final production model, we could expect it to receive a black treatment instead of chrome accents. Instead of a single-piece of grab rails, it gets side bolted pillion grab rails. The teasers show a new cantilevered tailpiece with a compact LED taillight and mudguard mounted license plate and indicators.
    Engine Specs & Features
Mechanically, this iteration of CB350 will be identical to its classic roadster sibling although suspension setup might be slightly tweaked for sportier performance. It will be powered by a 348cc unit single-cylinder, air-cooled unit which cranks out 21 bhp and 30 Nm of peak torque.
This unit will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch. It will be built on a half-duplex cradle frame suspended on a telescopic front fork and twin rear shock absorbers.

In terms of features as well, this bike is expected to offer the same equipment as offered in H;Ness CB350. This includes an all-LED lighting setup, a semi-digital instrument cluster, USB charging, Bluetooth connectivity, Navigation, dual-channel ABS and a first-in-segment Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC).
We expect prices of the new CB350RS roadster to hover around Rs 2.00 lakh (ex-showroom) and will exclusively be sold through the brand’s BigWing dealerships. Honda 2Wheelers India is currently looking to expand its BigWing network in the country and we expect to see an expansion of the India-made BigWing lineup of motorcycles in the near future.
