2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 Instrument Cluster Detailed In New Spy Shots

2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 Instrument ClusterRoyal Enfield is expected to launch the new gen Classic 350 motorcycle in coming weeks
In line with its strategy to introduce new products at regular intervals and refresh its product portfolio, Royal Enfield will be launching next-gen Classic 350 sometime in the coming weeks. The wait would be worth it, as 2021 Classic 350 comes with a range of updates including visual tweaks, additional features and new chassis and engine.
    Next-gen Classic 350 design updates
2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 continues with its signature retro profile that has remained one of its primary USPs. However, there are several smaller tweaks that give the motorcycle a distinct identity.
A rugged looking circular headlamp cluster with integrated LED DRLs is among the key design highlights at the front. Other components such as handlebar grips and switchgear have also been updated.
The instrument console has been refreshed and it comprises a display screen along with an analogue speedometer. It also gets a fuel gauge. In addition, there are trip meters, time display, Odometer as well as the mention of ECO in the display. Take a look at the latest spy video below, credit to Vicky Mallick.

Next-gen Classic 350 will also get Tripper navigation, which was introduced with Meteor 350 last year. Tripper feature comprises a small screen that displays directional arrows for the inputted destination. It works in conjunction with Royal Enfield app and Google Maps. The motorcycle in the spy video is seen in metallic green shade.
Next-gen Classic 350 seat design has been refreshed and it now comes with improved ergonomics, smoother curves and better cushioning. It is expected to provide more comfort during long-distance touring. Another change can be seen in the positioning of grab rails, which are now placed a bit higher than that of the existing model. At the rear, next-gen Classic 350 gets a sleeker round shaped LED tail lamp and new turn indicators.
    Next-gen Classic 350 engine
Powering next-gen Classic 350 will be the new engine that is already in use with Meteor 350. The 349 cc oil cooled OHC engine is capable of delivering 20.2 hp of max power and 27 Nm of max torque. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The new transmission uses fewer moving parts, which ensures smooth performance and higher reliability.
Along with the new motor, the motorcycle also gets the new J1D platform. This replaces the earlier single downtube setup. The combo of new engine and chassis are expected to significantly reduce vibrations. We have already seen this with Meteor 350. Performance and handling are also expected to be better, as compared to the current model. In terms of safety, the motorcycle will have disc brakes at both ends, integrated with dual-channel ABS as standard. It will also get alloys and tubeless tyres.
Classic 350 is currently the top selling motorcycle in 200-500 cc segment. Its market share is almost 50%. Although it has been facing competition from new rivals, none have been able to make any major dent to its popularity. The company would be hopeful that next-gen Classic 350 would continue to build upon the motorcycle’s success and wide fan following. More

Tata Nexon Electric Records 4k Sales Milestone – Threefold Increase Over FY20

Image – HemankTata Motors was among the early entrants in the nascent EV space
Launched last year in January, Tata Nexon EV has emerged as the top selling electric car in the country. It does not have any direct rival in its price range, which gives it a definitive advantage in this segment. Other EVs such as MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona are both priced above Rs 20 lakh. Nexon EV is available in three variants, priced in the range of Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 16.40 lakh (ex-showroom).
    Tough year, yet strong sales
Even when car sales were badly hit by Covid-19 lockdown and related restrictions, Nexon EV has been able to regain its momentum in the subsequent period. Cumulative sales since the time it was launched have already crossed the 4k mark.
In FY21, total sales stood at 4,219 units. This is a threefold increase, as compared to sales in FY20. In 2021, Nexon EV also created the record of highest ever monthly and quarterly sales. These were recorded in March 2021 (705 units) and Q4 FY21 (1,711 units).
If we look at 2020 numbers, Nexon EV had topped the list with sales of 2,602 units. Second bestselling EV in 2020 was MG ZS with sales of 1,243 units. Kona EV was placed at third with 183 units. Tata Tigor EV and Mahindra e-Verito had sales of 100 units and 9 units, respectively. Looking at Q4 FY21 sales numbers, it is likely that Nexon will continue to maintain its lead in 2021.
    Tata Nexon Electric
    Nexon EV features and specs
While Nexon EV’s competitive pricing is one of the key reasons for its popularity, it also scores high in terms of design, performance, range, creature comforts and safety features.
At the core of Nexon EV is the advanced Ziptron technology that is equipped with an integrated motor controller. Ziptron utilizes a liquid cooled architecture, which ensures consistent performance across varied operating temperatures. Nexon EV packs in a 30.2 kWh li-ion battery that is IP67 certified. The battery has undergone rigorous testing for more than one million kilometres.
The battery pack sends power to a 3 phase permanent magnet synchronous motor that is capable of generating 129 ps of max power and 245 Nm of peak torque. Nexon EV can reach 0 to 100 kmph in 9.9 seconds and 0 to 60 kmph in 4.6 seconds.
Nexon EV offers ARAI certified range of 312 km on a full charge. However, the actual range may vary based on variables such as traffic, use of AC, outside temperature and driver skills. To take care of range anxiety, Tata Motors has already installed charging stations at various locations across the country. Several more of these are expected to come up in the future. More

See the 'Lexus NX 4.6' Scare Drivers, Make Them Crash to Prove a Safety Point

This content is imported from YouTube. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

Lexus modified an NX SUV so that the windshield could suddenly blank out without any warning to the driver, making it impossible to see.The company didn’t do this just to torture people who thought they were going to be simply test driving a new car; it did it to point out how dangerous it is to check your phone messages while driving.People think it only takes a second or two, but the average is closer to five seconds. And more than 3000 people died in crashes that involved distracted drivers in 2019, so it’s not a harmless issue.Too many of us check our phones while we’re driving. Full stop. But simply knowing that we do this isn’t enough to get us to change our habits, apparently. This is where dramatic consumer education videos can come in handy, like the new “Driving Disrupted” clip (shown above) that Lexus released this week just in time for the start of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

Lexus wanted to highlight two truths about distracted driving with the video. First, most people think checking a text message while driving takes just a second or two. Also, the actual average time this takes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), is 4.6 seconds. In consumer-facing parts of its website, NHTSA rounds that up to five seconds, or “the length of an entire football field” if you’re driving 55 mph, but however long it actually takes you to check your phone, the point here is that you’re not as fast as you think you are.To set up the video, Lexus took a new Lexus NX—for this purpose, renamed the NX 4.6—and turned it into a not-for-sale SUV that was modified with special electrochromic film on the windshield and windows so they can instantly turn opaque and then stay that way for 4.6 seconds. Lexus then recruited people to take a test drive, conveniently omitting any mention about how the windows might blank out. This, as you might suspect, created some dramatic moments when these unwarned young people suddenly found themselves unable to see the road ahead. You can also probably guess that the many styrofoam pedestrian and bicyclist obstacles Lexus conveniently placed near the track did not survive.9 PercentWhich is the whole point of this experiment, of course. People—including you—might think they can handle checking a text message while driving, but official statistics prove we really can’t. In 2019, for example, a total of 3142 people were killed in crashes involving distracted drivers, according to NHTSA. The approximate cumulative death toll in the U.S. from 2012 and through 2019 is over 26,000 people. NHTSA also said that 9 percent of all fatal crashes in the U.S. in 2019 involved distracted drivers. In Lexus’s trickster’s test drive, the subjects all said they’re now for real finished with checking their phones from behind the wheel. It’s a powerful message, but it’s also one we’ve heard before in other, at times way more dramatic, video messages. We won’t be surprised if there will be many more before everyone thinks twice before grabbing their phone while driving.

Hero Electric Scooter Production To Increase To 10 Lakh Units Per Year

    Hero Electric Scooters
Currently, Hero Electric has thirteen models under its lineup that are categorised into two segments- city speed and comfort speed
Being extremely confident of growth in electric mobility in the two-wheeler segment in future, Hero Electric has announced that it would be investing a whopping Rs 700 crore in this segment. A large chunk of this investment would be spent on increasing the production capacity in the coming years.
In an interaction recently, Hero Electric managing director Naveen Munjal confirmed that the homegrown EV manufacturer will invest this amount over a period of next three to four years. He further informed that the current production capacity of 75,000 units annually will be ramped up to 10 lakh units per annum.
    Expansion EV market
In the first phase of expansion itself, the capacity will be enhanced to 3 lakh units. According to Munjal, at present, the industry is witnessing a doubling of market share each year and would corner at least 10% of the two-wheeler market in the next five years. Hero Electric currently commands 40 percent of the electric two-wheeler market in India and will continue to keep pace with the growth.
Munjal further went on to add that at the current rate of growth, India’s electric two-wheeler market will reach 20 lakh units in five years. Further with the help of favourable policies the industry could expand by 20 percent to around 40 lakh units per annum.
    Hero Electric Scooter – Photo
Overall market share for electric two-wheelers has risen from 40,000 units in 2017 to 1.7 lakh units in 2020-21. Out of the total sales in the electric two-wheeler segment last year, Hero Electric alone accounted for 53,500 units. In fourteen years since its inception in the Indian market, Hero Electric has so far sold 3.5 lakh electric scooters across the country.
    Hero Electric & Rivals
The current portfolio of Hero Electric comprises thirteen models in six platforms that are broadly categorised into two segments- city speed and comfort speed. There are currently no offerings in the high-speed segment from the manufacturer and the company says that it will continue to demand in this category and will formally enter only when demand has pierced into the mass market.
Even though electric mobility in India is yet to reach its full potential, competition has intensified in recent months with many new players venturing into the market, especially in the two-wheeler segment.
Players like Ather Energy have been able to set new benchmarks in this segment while many others like Revolt, Okinawa and Simple Energy have exciting offerings up their sleeves as well. Hero Electric’s direct rival would be Ola Electric in terms of large manufacturing capabilities. More

Custom Motorcycle With 3 Engines – All 3 From Honda CB750

Galaxy Custom Motorcycle With 3 Engines. Image – Bike ExifThe Galaxy has been made with the objective of participating in Land Speed Racing
Once in a while we come across an engineering marvel that makes us wipe our eyes and maybe even scratch our heads. Now, branding the latest case as a marvel would be an outstretch but it surely does make us carry out the last two acts. If you think you have witnessed insane aftermarket modifications that can’t be matched, this one might force you to rethink.
When you see a single motorcycle is powered by three engines, yes you read that right – three engines in one motorcycle, probably can be called MotorsCycle. You can easily judge for yourself the number and kind of mod jobs that would have been carried out. Named ‘The Galaxy’, this behemoth is powered by three bored-out CB750 motors which essentially makes it a 12-cylinder 2,508cc glory.
Galaxy Custom Motorcycle With 3 Engines. Image – Bike Exif
    Idea of Three Engine Motorcycle
This motorcycle is a creation of California-based custom motorcycle builder Mitsuhiro ‘Kiyo’ Kiyonaga who intends to take this monster to Land Speed Racing. Kiyonaga started his aftermarket workshop in Los Angeles in 2013 and his first project ‘Cherry Blossom’ was a custom-built stretched land speed racer that featured a turbocharged Honda CB750 engine housed in a frame built from scratch.
A few years later he followed it up with another 1970s top fuel-style bike but powered by twin motors this time and named it ‘Gekko’. Even though the Galaxy was Kiyo’s pet project which he has dreamt of since his childhood, it was seriously materialised only when his first two motorcycles were acquired by Haas Moto Museum. Work on the bike only started when owner of the museum, approved and officially commissioned the project.
Galaxy Custom Motorcycle With 3 Engines. Image – Bike Exif
    Galaxy- Powertrain specs
Coming to its specification, Galaxy draws its energy from three four-pot motors sourced from F2 large port heads. Each of these engines has been bored-out to 836cc has been completely rebuilt with balanced and lightened crankshafts, performance cams, oversized stainless steel valves and heavy-duty connecting rods. Special care was taken to ensure that each internal configuration was in line with the original spec.
Galaxy Custom Motorcycle With 3 Engines
    Hardware Spec & Design
The motors are held by a three-piece chassis that constitute a tubular upper frame, and two huge engine mounting plates that also act as a rigid swingarm. Front half of Galaxy has been integrated into the frame which hides the pump, fuel tank, battery and all other functional components under its skin.
That tail section is a hand-built aluminium piece that can hold up to 9.5 litres of gasoline for the oil-sucking engines. A tiny port found at back is essentially an outlet for the engine breather hose.
Galaxy Custom Motorcycle With 3 Engines
The alloy wheels made out of aluminium are a piece of art with holes cut out on the front wheel in order to limit the effect of crosswinds at high speeds. With stretched-out ergonomics, ‘rider triangle’ was carefully calculated that offers impressive control and grip when racing across salt tracks.
The designer claims that every component on the bike has been modified and built by hand without aid of any designing software which deserves high applause. The Galaxy now finds shelter in the same museum as Kiyo’s previous two projects. However, Kiyo is yet to tick off all boxes and that would happen only when he takes to Land Speed Racing.

Bajaj Platina, CT 100 And 110 Range Price Increased – April 2021

Image – NM ke TalksThis is the second time in 2021 that CT and Platina range have undergone price revision
As may be recalled, Bajaj had increased prices of its motorcycles earlier this year in January. Along with CT and Platina range, prices were increased for most other motorcycles such as Pulsar range, Avenger and Dominar. Now, prices have been increased once again for CT and Platina range. It is possible that other Bajaj motorcycles may also witness a price hike in the coming months.
Bajaj’s move to increase prices is in line with industry trends. Most other two-wheeler manufacturers had increased prices at the time of New Year and later as well. In most cases, the price hike has been attributed to rising input costs. It includes higher cost of raw materials as well as increased handling and transportation charges.
Bajaj CT Range – April 2021 prices
One of the most affordable commuter motorcycles in the country, Bajaj CT variants have become costlier in the range of Rs 1,356 to Rs 1,696. CT100 KS Alloy new price is Rs 49,152, as compared to Rs 47,654 earlier. CT110 ES Alloy updated price is Rs 53,498, an increase of Rs 1,696 over the earlier price. CT110 ES Alloy X new price is Rs 55,494, as compared to Rs 54,138 earlier.
CT100 is powered by a 102 cc motor that churns out 7.9 PS of max power at 7500 rpm and 8.34 Nm of peak torque at 5500 rpm. It is mated to a 4-speed gearbox. The bike has top speed of 90 kmph. CT110 utilizes a 115.45 cc motor that generates 8.6 PS at 7000 rpm and 9.81 Nm at 5000 rpm. Gearbox and top speed is same as CT100.
Bajaj Platina / CT range prices increased – April 2021
Bajaj Platina Range – April 2021 prices
Platina range starts with 100 KS Alloy variant, which will now retail at Rs 52,915. This is an increase of Rs 749 over the earlier price. Platina 100 ES Drum variant is now priced at Rs 54,669, as compared to Rs 53,920 earlier.
Platina 110 ES ABS new price is Rs 67,424, which is Rs 1,504 more than earlier. Platina ABS was launched in March at Rs 66k. It can be described as a disruptive move by Bajaj, as currently there’s no other bike in this segment to offer ABS.
Platina ABS targets users who want to have better safety in their everyday commutes. Talking about Platina 110 H-Gear Disc, the motorcycle is now cheaper, priced at Rs 63,424. The earlier price was Rs 64,301.
Revised prices for CT and Platina range look reasonable and are unlikely to adversely impact sales. Even with the increased prices, Bajaj CT and Platina range will continue to be the most affordable commuter motorcycles in the country. More

$50,000 Used Cars We'd Keep for Five Years: Window Shop with Car and Driver

The Window Shop crew went to work this week searching for used cars we’d be willing to commit to until 2026. For some of us, five years is a long time to hold on to the same car—even hypothetically. So we set the budget a little higher than usual, at $50,000, to allow for more choice. First up, contributor John Pearley Huffman presents the last body-on-frame car from GM: a 1996 Chevy Impala SS. The rest of us don’t understand why he has a soft spot for this whale of a car. Pearley claims it’ll hold its value and that he’d happily drive it every morning to Handlebar Coffee Roasters in downtown Santa Barbara, but we doubt he could ever part with his beloved Toyota Tundra. Senior editor Joey Capparella shows his true normcore colors in this challenge. He selects a third-generation Lexus LS that’s so beige and under budget that we all come around to the idea, especially after he reveals that the LS430 is a comparison-test winner. While Capparella’s choice might be a bit boring, there’d never be a dull moment in contributor Jonathon Ramsey’s 90K-mile Bentley Continental GT. The car packs a sleek 551-hp twin-turbo W-12 and comes in under budget. Ramsey assures us that the leftover $15K could be used to maintain and repair his Bentley in the coming years. (Watch our eyes roll when he claims that nothing really ever goes wrong on Continental GTs.)Deputy testing director K.C. Colwell makes a wise choice: a one-owner 15K-mile 2005 Porsche 911 (997) with a six-speed manual. His Porsche might be only $5 shy of $50,000, but it appears its owner took meticulous care of it. In the wake of that excellent Porsche, host Tony Quiroga seems less enthusiastic about his 464-hp sports sedan. Nevertheless, he manages to sell the merits of his five-year plan and rebut complaints about the engine having roots in a Chevy Impala V-6.

2021 Benelli 302R Debuts Ahead Of Launch – KTM RC 390 Rival

2021 Benelli 302RIn India, new Benelli 302R will be pitted against Kawasaki Ninja 300, TVS Apache RR 310 and the upcoming KTM RC 390
Benelli has had a busy start to 2021 with as many as three new models launched namely TRK 502, Leoncino 500 and TRK 502X. For the better part of 2020, Benelli had just one offering under its lineup in the form of Imperiale 400. However, the Chinese-owned Italian bikemaker has promised to be back with a bang with a host of new offerings for this year.
The next big launch for Benelli is most likely to be the updated 2021 302R that has been officially unveiled. The latest iteration of the fully-faired motorcycle comes with a revised styling, new features and an updated engine to satisfy the latest emission norms. Images of the entry-level faired superbike were leaked earlier last month revealing certain details of the upcoming motorcycle.
    Revised Styling
2021 302R comes with a redesigned front face which is sharper and more aggressive than its predecessor. The overall silhouette gets tweaked thanks to a slimmer and sleeker fairing and a reshaped fuel tank that certainly looks more attractive than the previous iteration with a stocky, overweight and broad front end. The front fascia features a vertically stacked LED projector headlamp that is flanked by fairing-mounted turn indicators that also double up as LED DRLs.
Changes have been made to the tail section as well with an LED taillight and new air vents under the pillion seat. Overall, body panels have improved and become smoother accentuating the bike’s aerodynamic properties.
    2021 Benelli 302R
The body also features new attractive body graphics which enhance the bike’s sporty appeal. Major ramification has been carried out on its frame which now weighs 22 kilos lighter at 182kg. This would mean a much better power to weight ratio which is expected to translate into better on-road performance.
    Engine, Hardware Specs
Speaking of performance, it is powered by an updated 300cc, parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that complies with the latest Euro-5 emission norms. This motor now kicks out 34.5 bhp at 11,000 rpm and 27 Nm of peak torque at 9,000 rpm which is marginally lower than the BS4 model. It will be coupled with a six-speed gearbox. Hardware configurations are kept intact with 41mm upside-down forks at front with preload adjustability and a mono-shock unit at rear.
    Features on offer
Braking duties will be carried out by dual discs with 4-piston calipers at front and a single disc at rear. Safety net will be provided by dual-channel ABS as standard. Among other features on offer, the new 302R will come with a revised cockpit featuring a new TFT instrument display replacing the analogue-digital instrument console.
    2021 Benelli 302R
The digital display shows readings from the speedometer, odometer, fuel level, temperature gauge and gear position indicator. It also receives new backlit switch gears that look more attractive and premium.
The updated 302R is set to go on sale in China at a price of CNY 29,800 (approximately INR 3.38 lakh). In India, it is likely to be priced around Rs 3.50-3.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon its launch, it will rival the likes of TVS Apache RR 310, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the upcoming KTM RC 390. More
