It is a modular and scalable EV platform outsourced to OEMs for procuring under a license.This platform is found in Audi’s Q4 e-tron, Q4 Sportback e-tron, and Q5 e-tron. Cupra’s Born, upcoming Urban Rebel and Tavascan. Skoda’s Enyaq iV and Enyaq Coupe iV. Ford’s two upcoming EVs for Europe. Volkswagen’s ID.3, ID.4, ID.5, ID.6, ID. Buzz, and ID. Buzz Cargo as well. Part of electric drive is VW’s proprietary APP310 PMDC motor which MEB platform supports. The number 310 means it will have 310 Nm of peak torque. APP310 motor weighs only 90 kg and is mated to a 1-speed gearbox. Mahindra has revealed INGLO platform will feature LFP cells which are likely to be prismatic ones.BEV LineupBE is abbreviated to Born Electric and signifies that it doesn’t share its body with other ICE-based vehicles. XUV.e lineup gets ICE spinoffs and vice-versa. When Mahindra said GLO-bal in standards, the company means it as this platform is also found in global cars. Battery will range between 60 kWh to 80 kWh in capacity. RWD setup will feature 170 kW (228 bhp) and AWD setup will feature 250 kW (335 bhp). Reports from UK states Mahindra’s INGLO platform is range tested too.Range is around 675 km in Indian testing cycles and 430 km in WLTP cycle. These figures are not specified in relation to battery capacity and respective vehicles in the model range. Speaking of model range, Mahindra’s electric SUVs come in two lineups. BE and XUV.e. BE lineup includes BE.05, BE.07 and BE.09, while XUV.e lineup includes XUV.e8 and XUV.e9.This is the first time these electric SUVs will be setting foot in India. These are introductory, ex-sh prices which are only valid for first 5,000 bookings.Based on the XUV300, the new XUV400 will borrow some features from the former while it gets an increase in length and wheelbase. It is quite remarkable, as negotiating inclines at high altitudes is a challenging task for any vehicle. XUV400 can be seen smoothly accelerating and overtaking other cars without any jerky motions. This makes it the fastest passenger vehicle to be produced in India, excluding the non-luxury segment. XUV400 has a top speed of 150 kmph, which is applicable in both laden and unladen conditions. Dimensionally, XUV400 is 4,200 mm long, 1,821 mm wide, 1,634 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. These numbers are higher than XUV300, although both SUVs are based on the same platform. In comparison, Nexon EV Max has a certified range of 437 km (ARAI). It was expected to be launched in 2020, but plans got delayed due to the pandemic. Now with the EV segment gaining momentum, Mahindra is gearing up to launch Atom EV. It will be India’s first electric quadricycle.Ahead of its launch, details about Mahindra Atom have been revealed via Type Approval Certificate. While the earlier certificate was issued under ‘Non Transport’ category, the latest certificate has been issued under ‘Transport’ category.Mahindra Atom variants, rangeThere will be a total of four variants of Mahindra Atom – K1, K2, K3 and K4. While K1 and K2 will have 7.4 kWh, 144 Ah battery pack, Atom K3 and K4 come with 11.1 kWh, 216 Ah battery pack. The smaller battery pack weighs 98 kg, whereas the larger unit is heavier by 47 kg.Battery technology is Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4 or LFP), which offers a range of benefits. Key among them are longer lifespan, lightweight, safe operations, ability to endure high temperatures, minimal maintenance and improved discharge and charge efficiency.Mahindra ATOM Electric 4 seater vehicleMax motor power of Mahindra Atom is rated at 8 kW at 3,950 rpm. Electrical energy consumption as per AIS-039 standards is 90 Wh per km for K1 and K2 and 106 Wh per km for K3 and K4. Range is expected to be around 80 km for K1 and K2 and approx. 100 km for K3 and K4. In terms of features, K1 and K3 do not come with air conditioning. This will limit their scope, especially at hot, humid locations. However, non-AC variants will be able to cover more miles on a full charge.Mahindra Atom features, specsVisually, Mahindra Atom has a cute profile with a unique grille design, prominent headlamps, large windscreen and windows and blacked-out central pillars. It utilizes a monocoque chassis and has an upright, boxy design. The wheels are placed at extreme ends, which ensures a futuristic look and feel for the quadricycle. On the inside, Atom will focus on utilitarian features. It will have 4G connectivity for faster processing of bookings and payments when used for fleet operations.Dimensionally, Mahindra Atom is 2,728 mm long, 1,452 mm wide and 1,576 mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 1,885 mm. Despite its compact size, Mahindra Atom will have spacious interiors.
