      New KTM RC125, RC200 Detailed Before Launch – Orange, White, Black Colours

      New generation KTM RC390 got leaked yesterday. Now, the remaining two motorcycles in the RC range – RC125 and RC200 have also leaked. Once again, credit to Yadu Krishnan.
      All three RC motorcycles are expected to make debut this month. Unofficial bookings have already opened at select dealers. Apart from new design and colours, the new gen KTM RC range is expected to offer better riding performance.
      Refreshed Chassis, Redesigned Headlamp
      2022 KTM RC125 and RC200 will sit on a new chassis with a bolt on sub-frame. These will receive larger fairings and new body panels as compared to their outgoing counterparts. The two bikes will also see feature changes in the form of re-designed headlamp, new alloy wheels and a taller windscreen along with stepped up seating and muscular fuel tanks.
      While the RC125, RC200 gets a halogen headlamp and LED tail lamp, the RC390 is set apart with full LED lighting at the front and rear. As per the leaked photos, the RC200 gets digital instrument cluster, as seen in the new RC390. It is not clear if the RC125 also gets the same. Another question to ask is will India-spec RC range get the same, or not.
      New KTM RC200
      Other notable change is lower set handlebars, which offer the rider a more relaxed position while riding. Foot pegs are also rearranged for a more ergonomic riding triangle. 2022 RC125 colour options include Black with Orange highlight and White with Orange highlight. 2022 RC200 colours include White / Orange and Black / Orange. The Blue / Orange shade seems to be limited to the RC390 only.
      2022 KTM RC125 gets side mounted exhaust while RC200 is seen with under-belly exhaust. Safety of the riders are also enhanced with the 2021 KTM RC125 and RC200 receiving disc brakes on front and rear wheels. It also gets dual channel ABS for better braking performance. The bikes will see suspension duties handled by inverted forks in the front and mono-shock unit at the rear.
      BS6 Compliant Engine Lineup
      The new 2022 KTM RC200 will be powered by the same engine as current RC200. This will include a 199.5cc, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine offering 24.6 hp power and 19.2 Nm torque. RC125 gets 124.7cc single cylinder unit generating 14.5 hp and 12 Nm torque. The RC390 will receive a 373.3cc, single cylinder engine generating 43 hp power and 36 Nm torque. Transmission on all three is via 6 speed gearbox.
      KTM RC125 is currently priced at 1.8 lakh, ex-sh. RC200 costs 2.08 lakh and RC390 costs 2.77 lakh. All prices are ex-sh. With the new generation update, expect the introductory prices of KTM RC series to be in the similar range. But they will soon be increased in the coming months post launch.       KTM is in the process of updating its RC range including RC 125, 200 and 390. RC390 could be the first to be launched in its new-gen avatar. Photos of the 2022 KTM RC 390 have now leaked via official website.
      Earlier today, KTM seems to have made the new gen RC390 website LIVE by mistake. It was soon taken down. But not before automotive enthusiast Yadu Krishnan managed to save the same. Thanks to this, we now have detailed photos of the new gen 2022 KTM RC 390.
      New KTM RC390 design and styling
      Seen in a dual tone livery of Blue and Orange shade, new RC390 could gets a single LED headlamp in place of the existing twin projector headlights at the front. The new unit could be similar to the one currently in use with 390 Duke. Trendy DRLs are also expected to enhance the overall look and feel of the front fascia. The fuel tank looks larger on new RC390, which means lesser stops at fuel stations. The current model can carry max 9.5 litres of fuel.
      Another key change can be seen in the riding position of the updated bike. New RC390 appears to have relaxed ergonomics, something similar to what you would expect from a sports-tourer. This is evident in the slightly higher-up handlebars and more forward-set foot pegs. Pillion comfort also seems to have been improved with new RC390. The height of pillion seat is just right and foot pegs are forward set, as compared to that of current model.

      The fairing has undergone a major refresh, although it carries on with the core theme of double-layer design. Whether it’s better than the current version is a subjective matter, better left to user interpretations.
      2022 KTM RC390 engine and specs
      Engine will be same as earlier, a 373cc single cylinder, liquid cooled unit that is capable of generating 43 hp of max power and 35 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The only possibility is that a few tweaks could be introduced to achieve improved reliability. This engine has been in use since around a decade now. KTM has consistently improved it over the years, including changes that were required to meet new emission norms.
      Chassis appears to be updated; a bolt-on sub-frame in place of the welded-on design of current model. Suspension system seems to be same as earlier – USD forks at the front and a monoshock unit at the rear with braced alloy swingarm. However, KTM could introduce tweaks that would make the rides more comfortable.

      Wheels and braking setup has also been updated on new RC390. The bike could get some advanced features such as traction control, lean angle-sensitive ABS and bi-directional quickshifter. These features are currently available with 390 Adventure. New RC390 could also get a new Bluetooth-enabled colour TFT instrument console.
      It is likely that new KTM RC390 could be launched in the coming weeks, most likely this month. However, considering the unpredictability surrounding Covid pandemic, things could get delayed. When launched, new RC390 is expected to be around costlier than the current version. The current model retails at a starting price of Rs 2.77 lakh, after the price hike last month. More

      KTM RC 200 Modified With Custom Kit, New Colour – For Rs 52k

      KTM is one of the most sought-after motorcycle brands in the aftermarket industry in India. The robust structure of the bikes gives tonnes of options to customisers to play with. We have another case of an RC 200 being modified into a custom bike which has been built for the purpose of taking it to the race tracks.
      The images are credited to biking enthusiast Adarsh Suresh and this particular MY2019 RC 200 is his personal possession. This custom motorcycle gets a complete styling overhaul by replacing the stock body panels with aftermarket panels. These aftermarket units have been sourced from Autologue Design, a customisation workshop based out of Pune.
      Modified Design
      The entire front fairing has been replaced by aftermarket fairing panels which are lighter and more aerodynamically enhanced. Front end of the bike wears an aftermarket wind visor which is larger than the stock unit.
      The stock dual-pod headlamp setup has been carried forward in the custom motorcycle. It gets a completely revised tail section with a rounded cowl and could now accommodate a single-seater saddle which can only accommodate a rider.
      KTM RC 200 Modified
      Like the stock RC 200, this modified bike also gets an underbelly exhaust. Even the front fender is attached to the front suspension forks. The underbelly engine used in this custom unit looks different and more sporty than the regular unit.
      The overall bike feels more sporty and aggressive thanks to aftermarket livery and body decals. The dual-tone colour scheme of red and grey is unique and would surely stand apart in a crowd.
      The exposed rear frame, subframe and alloys have been painted in black and not traditional KTM orange which goes well with the modified theme of the faired sports bike. Minor changes might have been done to its swingarm as well as its handlebar. Kit cost is Rs 35k (including KTM powerpart visor). Painting and graphics cost is Rs 17k. Total cost is Rs 52k.

      Mechanical Specs & Features
      This means, mechanically this bike is identical to the stock RC 200 and with no change in configurations. The trellis frame sits on inverted forks up front and a mono-shock at rear. On the other hand, braking duties are handled by single disc brakes at both ends assisted by a dual-channel ABS as standard.
      The entry-level superbike is propelled by a 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which pumps out 25.4 bhp and a peak torque of 19.5 Nm. This unit is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.       KTM 390 Duke Modified Into A Scrambler With 3D Printed Parts

      While aftermarket modifications of automobiles are not very uncommon in India (although it is not legal), only seldom do we come across a custom-built motorcycle that has been created using a 3D printer. This example of a KTM 390 Duke turned into a scrambler is one of those rarities.
      Interestingly, the project of building this custom bike has not been carried out by some experienced aftermarket workshop but by a Mumbai-based couple. Akash Das, a graphic designer in the advertising industry, and his wife Garima, also a designer, are responsible for creating something new out of a Duke 390.
      KTM Duke 390 Modified
      The couple designed the custom parts using 3D software and then 3D printed the prototype parts before outsourcing the machined bits. The Duke 390 used here is a 2018 model and a personal possession of Akash. In order to convert a naked streetfighter into a neo-retro scrambler meant that there needed to be structural modifications and not just cosmetic updates.

      Hence, a new subframe was designed which was bolted onto the existing mounting points but with a shorter and flatter layout. This gave the motorcycle a stubbier rear section along with a short rear fender and a new LED taillight providing it with a completely different look at rear. The rear fender also houses a custom luggage rack. All final machined components are made of aluminium.
      KTM Duke 390 Modified
      Further, the seat foam was designed in-house, then outsourced to be wrapped in synthetic leather. Upfront, the motorcycle features a JW Speaker-sourced LED headlight with a custom surround. The unit was first 3D printed and then the final part was machined from CNC 6061 T6 billet aluminum. Other components such as front sprocket cover, a taillight surround, a custom cowl and a fuel tank cover have been created from a similar process.

      The motorcycle now runs on 17-inch Akront spoked rims instead of alloy wheels which are shod by block pattern dual-purpose tyres from Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR. This gives the bike some off-roading characteristics. The front braking setup now features a petal rotor from Galfer, though the ABS system remains stock.
      More Details
      Akash has used a custom handlebar that is more upright and a radiator coolant overflow tank. Other custom-made parts include a front sprocket guard, a radiator guard, a bash plate and a sump guard that protects the engine while off-roading. The custom-built fuel tank was the trickiest of them all which required Akash to fabricate the entire piece in wood first before shaping the metal onto it.

      It took two years and lot of patience for Akash and Garima to complete this prototype. From learning of new design softwares to actually executing the same. The cost of the project is not shared. KTM currently retails Duke 390 at a price of Rs 2.82 lakh (ex-showroom). A new-gen model of the naked streetfighter is expected to make its debut in the coming months.

      KTM Sales, Exports June 2021 – Duke, RC 125, 200, 250, 390 ADV

      Every major two wheeler maker in India has reported YoY sales growth for June 2021 over sales of June 2020. KTM India also saw increased sales in domestic market while its exports suffered de-growth.
      The company has recently released a fresh price list across all variants valid from 1st July 2021. This is the latest third price revision this year and is not going to be the last. The new price hike is attributed to rising input costs in view of high inflation of markets.
      KTM YoY Domestic Sales and Exports
      In domestic markets, sales of KTM 200, 125, 250 and 390 accounted for 3,224 units in June 2021. This was a 66.36 percent YoY increase over 1,932 units sold in June 2020. Of the portfolio, it was the KTM 200 that noted highest sales in domestic markets. Sales stood at 1,404 units in June 2021, up 140.41 percent over 584 units sold in June 2020. The KTM 200 (Duke + RC) currently commands a 43.55 percent share.
      Next up was the KTM 125 (Duke + RC) with YoY de-growth at 852 units in June 2021, down 86 units over 938 units sold in June 2020. The KTM 250 (Duke + ADV) saw 536 units sold last month, up 78.67 percent over 300 units sold in June 2020.

      Earlier this month, KTM announced that it has reduced price of the 250 Adventure by around Rs 25,000 for a limited period. This bike will carry a price tag of Rs 2.3 lakh valid from July 14 to August 31, 2021 and is sure to attract much attention from biking enthusiasts during this period.
      KTM 390 (RC + Duke + ADV) domestic sales last month were at 432 units, up from 116 units sold in June 2020, an increase of 272.41 percent. KTM India is actively testing the 2022 KTM RC 390 that has been seen with new body panels, colour options and graphics. Dealerships have also stated accepting bookings for this upcoming model which could means that launch date is imminent.
      Taking YoY exports into account, KTM 390 and 125 suffered de-growth while 200 and 250 sales increased with a total of 8,524 units shipped in the past month. This was an 11.51 percent lower as against shipments of 9,633 units in June 2020.

      Domestic sales increased 241.89 percent MoM to 3,224 units in June 2021 up from 943 units sold in May 2021. However, exports dipped 8.25 percent MoM to 8,524 units in June 2021, down from 9,290 units exported in May 2021. It may be recalled that 2nd wave of the pandemic situation was just about abating during the month of May and buyers were still apprehensive of rushing into new purchases.
      KTM 200 found most buyers in domestic markets with 1,404 units sold in June 2021, up 274.40 percent over 375 units sold in May 2021. KTM 125, 250 and 390 also saw increased domestic numbers in June 2021, while it was only the KTM 200 that noted positive growth in terms of exports in June 2021 over that of May 2021.
      KTM 200 shipments increased 12.40 percent MoM from 2,290 units in May 2021 to 2,574 units in the past month. KTM has been extensively testing the 2021 KTM RC 200 in Pune, and this is the biggest update for the KTM RC 200 since it was introduced in 2014. The current KTM RC 200 is priced at Rs 2,08,602 with the updated model is likely to command a premium of Rs 10,000 over the current price. More

      We know that KTM will be upgrading its RC lineup of motorcycles in the coming future. It will mostly likely be the RC 390 which will receive a new generation model first. The upcoming fully-faired motorcycle has been spotted testing on numerous occasions in recent months.
      Earlier reports mentioned that certain KTM dealerships in India have started accepting pre-bookings for the new RC 390 indicating its imminent launch. As we keep on anticipating its official launch, test mules of the upcoming superbike continue to be spotted regularly.
      The latest set of spy shots are credited to Santosh Balgude and have been clicked near Bajaj Auto’s manufacturing plant in Chakan near Pune, Maharashtra where all KTM models are assembled.
      Dealers are charging a booking amount between Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,000, while some dealers are quoting amounts as high as Rs 10,000. The bookings have been made against the current-gen RC 390 and can be transferred once the new generation model arrives.

      Updated Design
      As we all know, RC 390 is essentially a fully clothed version of the naked 390 Duke which has undergone a radical update in its latest iteration. The new RC 390 wears a completely different look which has left KTM fans polarised.
      The bike gets a completely redesigned front end with a new single-piece LED headlight and a larger windshield. Other styling updates include redesigned fairing, a larger fuel tank, new body graphics and a raised tail section.
      The makers have attempted to make the new RC 390 more aerodynamic hence have gone for a wider front fairing which also supports new boomerang-styled LED turn indicators. Aerodynamic qualities are further enhanced with inclusion of air vents on the side panels which ensure optimized airflow.

      Mechanical Updates
      The fully-faired KTM has also undergone structural changes in its upcoming avatar. It features a new rear subframe that will offer more comfortable rides for taller riders. Additionally, the new motorcycle will be offered with stronger brakes with greater stopping power. Revision to the bike’s frame, handlebar and alloy wheels will hopefully make the motorcycle more ergonomically pliant.
      2022 RC 390 is expected to be powered by the same BS6 compliant 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that pumps out 44 bhp and 35 Nm of peak torque. This unit will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch at least. Its official launch is expected to take place in August and is likely to be priced between near the Rs 3 lakh mark (ex-showroom). More

      Bajaj is on a mission, to reduce the prices of their 250 cc motorcycles by a huge margin. And this too at a time when everyone else is increasing prices. Including Bajaj, who has increased prices of all their motorcycles – except for the Dominar 250 and now KTM 250 ADV.
      Dominar 250 got a massive price cut of Rs 17k last week. And now, KTM 250 ADV price cut has been announced. Price of KTM 250 ADV was Rs 2.55 lakh, ex-sh. This has been its price since the time it was launched late last year. Now, around 9 months post launch, prices have been lowered to an all time low. Price of 2021 KTM 250 ADV now starts at Rs 2.3 lakh, ex-sh.
      Who Are Eligible For New Price
      All customers who buy KTM 250 ADV before 31st August 2021, will be eligible for the new price. Those who have already bought the KTM 250 ADV at older / higher price – will not get any benefit or offer to compensate the price cut.
      For now, KTM 250 ADV and Duke 250 are almost similarly priced. This is a massive 9.8% price cut. In comparison, prices of other KTM motorcycles on offer in India have been increased by up to 12k or 6.4%. Below is the detailed price of all KTM motorcycles on sale in India.
      KTM India Price List – July 2021
      KTM 250 Adventure design & features
      250 Adventure borrows most of the design and styling features from KTM 390 Adventure. Some of the key features include sleek headlamp, matte finished fuel tank, glossy side panels, dual-purpose tyres, upswept exhaust and short tail.
      However, one key change is the halogen headlamp, an obvious move to cut costs. If we compare to 250 Duke and 390 Adventure, both are equipped with LED headlamp. Excluding the headlamp, 250 Adventure has an all-LED setup including DRLs, front and rear turn indicators and rear tail light.
      In comparison to its bigger sibling that has full-colour console, 250 Adventure comes with black & white instrument panel. The display unit has a premium look and feel and it shows a range of information such as speedometer, fuel gauge, rpm, gear indicator, and odometer. KTM 250 Adventure is designed for comfortable rides, made possible with its tapered handlebar, wide seat, wide footpegs with rubber inserts, and adjustable windshield.
      KTM 250 Adventure engine
      Engine option for 250 Adventure will be the same as currently in use with 250 Duke. The 249 cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder engine can generate max power of 29.6 bhp at 9,000 rpm and peak torque of 24 Nm at 7500 rpm. The bike will have a 6-speed gearbox.
      KTM 250 Adventure will ride on steel-trellis frame, suspended on 43mm WP Apex forks at the front and WP Apex mono-shock suspension system at the rear. Front suspension offers 170 mm of travel and rear units come with pre-load adjustability function.
      Talking about the rubber, 250 Adventure has MRF Mogrip Meteor FM2 tubeless tyres. Braking duties are performed by 320 mm front disc and 230 mm rear disc. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard. KTM 250 Adventure is equipped with a 14.5 litre fuel tank.
      In the company’s line-up, 250 Adventure sits above KTM 250 Duke. It is expected to be priced at around Rs 2.4 lakh. KTM 250 Adventure will rival the likes of Hero Xpulse 200 and BMW G 310 GS. Being around 1 lakh cheaper than 390 Adventure, KTM 250 Adventure is expected to generate higher sale volumes. More

      KTM 790 Adventure Spied Inside Bajaj Auto Pune Plant – Launch Soon

      KTM 790 Adventure made its maiden appearance in our country back in October 2019 during India Bike Week. Back then the Austrian bikemaker announced that the premium adventure motorcycle will be launched in India by the end of 2020. However, since then, the world has turned heels over its head which meant that we couldn’t catch a glimpse of the upcoming bike yet.
      Things finally seem to be falling in place as the first unit of 790 Adventure has landed in India and is spotted in Bajaj Auto’s Chakan manufacturing facility near Pune. It is here that KTM manufactures their motorcycles for local market as well as exports. Spy images of the upcoming ADV have been doing the rounds on social media, credit to IamaBiker.
      More Details
      In the spy shots, you can notice there are other Bajaj and KTM motorcycles in the background. The company is yet to announce the premium KTM’s prospective launch or expansion of its lineup in India. The premium segment of bikes comprising 790 Duke, 790 ADV and others are expected to be launched in India. For now, these will be sold as CKDs.
      Bajaj Auto has already signed an MoU with the Maharashtra government to construct a new factory. This new factory is expected to become operational by 2023 and is likely to cater to premium models from Bajaj, KTM and Husqvarna. In future, some of these premium motorcycles may also be locally manufactured in India.
      KTM 790 Adv spied in India
      The latest set of spy shots reveal a full production-spec 790 Adventure donning the signature orange paint scheme. It flaunts a typical V-shaped split headlamp cluster along with a 5.0-inch fully digital TFT instrument display. The motorcycle wears a rugged attire of an adventure motorcycle with 790 imprinted on its fuel tank shrouds. However, the bike isn’t accessorized and is missing a pair of rearview mirrors and a tall windscreen.
      Features & Specs on offer
      In terms of features, the bike comes with an all-LED lighting setup and a host of electronic aids which are governed by Bosch 9.1 MP. These include features such as controls cornering and off-road ABS which are switchable, multiple riding modes (Street, Rain, Off-road and an optional extra – Rally), lean-sensitive traction control and more.
      The main highlight of the mid-displacement adventure bike lies underneath its chassis containing a 799cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled motor which has a very strong low- and mid-range to suit the off-road characteristics of the bike. This engine pumps out 94 bhp and 88 Nm of peak torque and is linked with a six-speed gearbox. Hardware configurations consist of WP APEX 43mm USD forks up front and a mono-shock at rear with both ends offering travel of 200mm each.
      KTM 790 Adv spied in India
      While its launch is yet to be confirmed by KTM, we expect 790 Adventure to hit showrooms in India in the coming weeks. Even if KTM achieves a reasonable level of localization, prices are still expected to hover northwards of Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). More details are expected to surface in coming weeks.
