The new-gen KTM Rc 390 will feature major design overhauls including new body panels, graphics and paint schemes
We know that KTM will be upgrading its RC lineup of motorcycles in the coming future. It will mostly likely be the RC 390 which will receive a new generation model first. The upcoming fully-faired motorcycle has been spotted testing on numerous occasions in recent months.
Earlier reports mentioned that certain KTM dealerships in India have started accepting pre-bookings for the new RC 390 indicating its imminent launch. As we keep on anticipating its official launch, test mules of the upcoming superbike continue to be spotted regularly.
The latest set of spy shots are credited to Santosh Balgude and have been clicked near Bajaj Auto’s manufacturing plant in Chakan near Pune, Maharashtra where all KTM models are assembled.
Dealers are charging a booking amount between Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,000, while some dealers are quoting amounts as high as Rs 10,000. The bookings have been made against the current-gen RC 390 and can be transferred once the new generation model arrives.

    Updated Design
As we all know, RC 390 is essentially a fully clothed version of the naked 390 Duke which has undergone a radical update in its latest iteration. The new RC 390 wears a completely different look which has left KTM fans polarised.
The bike gets a completely redesigned front end with a new single-piece LED headlight and a larger windshield. Other styling updates include redesigned fairing, a larger fuel tank, new body graphics and a raised tail section.
The makers have attempted to make the new RC 390 more aerodynamic hence have gone for a wider front fairing which also supports new boomerang-styled LED turn indicators. Aerodynamic qualities are further enhanced with inclusion of air vents on the side panels which ensure optimized airflow.

Additionally, the new motorcycle will be offered with stronger brakes with greater stopping power. Revision to the bike’s frame, handlebar and alloy wheels will hopefully make the motorcycle more ergonomically pliant.
2022 RC 390 is expected to be powered by the same BS6 compliant 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that pumps out 44 bhp and 35 Nm of peak torque. However, one key change is the halogen headlamp, an obvious move to cut costs. If we compare to 250 Duke and 390 Adventure, both are equipped with LED headlamp. Excluding the headlamp, 250 Adventure has an all-LED setup including DRLs, front and rear turn indicators and rear tail light.
In comparison to its bigger sibling that has full-colour console, 250 Adventure comes with black & white instrument panel. The display unit has a premium look and feel and it shows a range of information such as speedometer, fuel gauge, rpm, gear indicator, and odometer. KTM 250 Adventure is designed for comfortable rides, made possible with its tapered handlebar, wide seat, wide footpegs with rubber inserts, and adjustable windshield.
    KTM 250 Adventure engine
Engine option for 250 Adventure will be the same as currently in use with 250 Duke. The 249 cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder engine can generate max power of 29.6 bhp at 9,000 rpm and peak torque of 24 Nm at 7500 rpm. The bike will have a 6-speed gearbox.
KTM 250 Adventure will ride on steel-trellis frame, suspended on 43mm WP Apex forks at the front and WP Apex mono-shock suspension system at the rear. Front suspension offers 170 mm of travel and rear units come with pre-load adjustability function.

In the company’s line-up, 250 Adventure sits above KTM 250 Duke. It is expected to be priced at around Rs 2.4 lakh. KTM 250 Adventure will rival the likes of Hero Xpulse 200 and BMW G 310 GS. Being around 1 lakh cheaper than 390 Adventure, KTM 250 Adventure is expected to generate higher sale volumes. More

Image – IamaBikerKTM 790 Adventure will be offered as a CKD model in India to keep price aggressive
KTM 790 Adventure made its maiden appearance in our country back in October 2019 during India Bike Week. Back then the Austrian bikemaker announced that the premium adventure motorcycle will be launched in India by the end of 2020. However, since then, the world has turned heels over its head which meant that we couldn’t catch a glimpse of the upcoming bike yet.
Things finally seem to be falling in place as the first unit of 790 Adventure has landed in India and is spotted in Bajaj Auto’s Chakan manufacturing facility near Pune. It is here that KTM manufactures their motorcycles for local market as well as exports. Spy images of the upcoming ADV have been doing the rounds on social media, credit to IamaBiker.
    More Details
In the spy shots, you can notice there are other Bajaj and KTM motorcycles in the background. The company is yet to announce the premium KTM’s prospective launch or expansion of its lineup in India. The premium segment of bikes comprising 790 Duke, 790 ADV and others are expected to be launched in India. For now, these will be sold as CKDs.
Bajaj Auto has already signed an MoU with the Maharashtra government to construct a new factory. This new factory is expected to become operational by 2023 and is likely to cater to premium models from Bajaj, KTM and Husqvarna. In future, some of these premium motorcycles may also be locally manufactured in India.
KTM 790 Adv spied in India
The latest set of spy shots reveal a full production-spec 790 Adventure donning the signature orange paint scheme. It flaunts a typical V-shaped split headlamp cluster along with a 5.0-inch fully digital TFT instrument display. The motorcycle wears a rugged attire of an adventure motorcycle with 790 imprinted on its fuel tank shrouds. However, the bike isn’t accessorized and is missing a pair of rearview mirrors and a tall windscreen.
    Features & Specs on offer
In terms of features, the bike comes with an all-LED lighting setup and a host of electronic aids which are governed by Bosch 9.1 MP. These include features such as controls cornering and off-road ABS which are switchable, multiple riding modes (Street, Rain, Off-road and an optional extra – Rally), lean-sensitive traction control and more.
The main highlight of the mid-displacement adventure bike lies underneath its chassis containing a 799cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled motor which has a very strong low- and mid-range to suit the off-road characteristics of the bike. This engine pumps out 94 bhp and 88 Nm of peak torque and is linked with a six-speed gearbox. Hardware configurations consist of WP APEX 43mm USD forks up front and a mono-shock at rear with both ends offering travel of 200mm each.
KTM 790 Adv spied in India
While its launch is yet to be confirmed by KTM, we expect 790 Adventure to hit showrooms in India in the coming weeks. Bajaj Auto’s alliance partner KTM has hiked prices for all models under its own brand and Husqvarna brand by a considerable amount. The latest price revision is the third instance this year and certainly not going to be the last.
The hike in prices is attributed to rising input costs caused due to high inflation of the market. This might affect the prospects of new consumers wanting to own a new automobile. Meanwhile, the latest price hike from KTM and Husqvarna ranges from Rs 2,022 to Rs 11,685. Other than revision of prices, there is no update on any motorcycle on any level. KTM will now offer Duke 250 at a price of Rs 2,28,736 after a hike of Rs 7,104. Earlier it was priced at Rs 2,21,632. Duke 250 is the only bike in the KTM range which hasn’t received any substantial price hike and only received a hike of Rs 256 due to an increase in freight charges. It continues to be priced at Rs. 2.55 lakh. Both models are propelled 249cc 4-valve DOHC engine which develops 30 bhp at 9000 rpm and a peak torque of 24 Nm at 7500rpm.

KTM IndiaKTM range of motorcycles under 400cc are locally manufactured by Bajaj Auto at their facility in Chakan near Pune
With most states across the country under full or partial lockdowns for a major part of last month, automotive sales took a serious beating. KTM also had to bear the same brunt with both domestic sales and exports plummeting drastically due to disruptions caused due to the pandemic in production as well as sales.
    Domestic Sales
KTM was able to sell only 943 units of its motorcycles in the domestic market in May this year, in comparison to 4,522 units sold in April. This translates to a drop in MoM growth by 79.15 percent. The list was headed by the 200 series of KTM bikes which registered 375 units in May as opposed to 1,410 units sold the previous month.
This resulted in MoM degrowth of 73.40 percent. The company retails Duke and RC branded bikes in the 200 series in India. This was followed by the 125 series which accounted for 28.74 percent of total KTM domestic sales in May. The company sold 271 units of 125cc motorcycles last month which included Duke 125 and RC 125 as opposed to 1,172 units sold in April this year. This translated to a negative MoM growth of 76.88 percent.
The 250 series comprises Duke and Adventure range of bikes and recorded sales of 168 units last month. In comparison, the Austrian brand sold 1,089 units in April which resulted in a decline of MoM sales by 84.57 percent.
KTM India Sales and Exports April 2021
The bikemaker sold 129 units of its 390 series motorcycles in May as compared to 851 units in April this year thus translating to a negative MoM growth of 84.84 percent. The 390 series in India comprises all three models- Duke, Adventure and RC.
    Export Figures Low As Well
Numbers weren’t encouraging in the exports section as well, however, they did outnumber the domestic figure. KTM shipped a total of 9,290 units of its motorcycles from India to overseas markets in May. This is still less in comparison to 12,477 units exported the previous month. This resulted in a drop in MoM sales figures by 25.54 percent.
At 3,888 units, the 390 series accounted for the most exports last month. In comparison, KTM shipped 5,563 units of the 390 series abroad in April this year which translates to an MoM decline of 30.11 percent. The company exported 2,290 units of the 200cc bikes as compared to 3,685 units shipped in April this year. This translates to an MoM decline of 37.86 percent.
KTM India exported 1,978 units of the entry-level 125cc bikes in May 2021 as compared to 2,316 units shipped previous month. This accounted for an MoM degrowth of 14.59 percent. The 250 series was the only range that witnessed a positive MoM growth of 24.21 percent last month. KTM dispatched 1,134 units of the quarter-litre motorcycles in May and 913 units in April this year. More

New KTM RC 200, RC 390 Unofficial Bookings Start – Launch By Aug 2021

2021 KTM RC 390 render by Kobeyo CustomsBoth supersport faired motorcycles are expected to make their debut together around July or August later this year
There has been great excitement built around the arrival of new generation KTM models. Recently, an image of what appeared to be a full production version of RC 390 went trending on the internet. Earlier pre-production prototypes of RC 200 were also caught on camera conducting test trials.
Select dealerships of the Austrian bikemaker in India, have unofficially started accepting bookings for the upcoming new-gen models of RC 200 and RC 390. Dealers are charging a booking amount in between Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,000, while some dealers quoting amounts as high as Rs 10,000.
The bookings have been made against the current-gen RC range of models and can be transferred once the new generation models arrive. The booking could also be cancelled and the token amount will be refunded in case the bikes are not up to the customer’s expectations. The launch date of both entry-level supersport bikes are expected to take place around July or August this year.
    RC 390- Updated Design
The new RC 390 will be visibly a lot bigger than its 200cc sibling. The design gets a radical update over the outgoing model which frankly has left enthusiasts polarised. Some of the notable updates include a completely redesigned front end with a new single-piece LED headlight, redesigned fairing, new body graphics, a larger fuel tank and a redesigned tail section. Revisions are also noticed in the frame, handlebar, frame and alloy wheels.
    2021 KTM RC 200
The front fairing appears wider and more aerodynamic in design and it also supports the new boomerang-styled LED turn indicators. Another key update is inclusion of air vents on the side panels which will ensure optimized airflow and in turn enhance its aerodynamic qualities.
The motorcycle will be underpinned by a new rear subframe that will offer more comfortable rides for taller riders. The most impressive addition to RC 390 is the new TF display for the instrument console. In addition, the sportbike also gets improved brakes and a quick-shifter.
    RC 200- Updated Design
On the other hand, the new RC 200 will also receive a completely overhauled styling which is in line with the new RC 390. However, unlike its bigger sibling, RC 200 will most likely receive an underbelly exhaust instead of the side-slung unit seen in the new-gen RC 390. It will continue to employ the current model’s LCD instrument console and will feature new body graphics and decals.
    Specs on both models
Moving to specs, both motorcycles are likely to be powered by the same BS6 units in the current models. RC 200 will be powered by the same 199.5cc liquid-cooled mill that pushes out 25 hp and 19.2 Nm of torque. RC 390 will be powered by a 373cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that dishes out 44 bhp and 35 Nm of peak torque. While RC 200 is expected to be priced between Rs 2.10 to Rs 2.15 lakh mark and the bigger superbike would be priced in between Rs 2.65 lakh to Rs. 2.80 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). More

2022 KTM RC 390 Side View Revealed Via Undisguised Spy Shot

New gen KTM RC 390. Image – Albin Antony / Rushlane SpylaneKTM is in the process of upgrading their Duke as well as the RC range of motorcycles globally
It has been a couple of months, since the spy shots of new gen KTM RC and Duke range have started appearing on the internet. Of the two, it is the RC range which will be upgraded first, while the Duke range update is expected sometime next year.
Global debut of the new gen KTM RC 125, 200 and 390 is expected later this year. Ahead of that, thanks to leaked spy shots via test mules as well as via from company plant, reveals the design language of the updated KTM RC range in quite detail.
    Latest spy shot – 2022 RC 390
The RC 390 is essentially the faired version of the 390 Duke naked sports motorcycle. Even though the 390 Duke model available in India is updated to the brand’s global specifications, the RC 390 still lags behind a bit especially in terms of equipment such as the TFT instrument console.
The RC 390 test mule you see here, looks like a production ready variant. The image is credit to automotive enthusiast Albin Antony, who has posted the spy shot in Rushlane Spylane. It is also to be noted here that KTM has removed the current RC390 from their official website – indicating launch could be around the corner.
    2021 KTM RC 125 / RC 200
Overall design of the new RC range is similar, as it is today. Expect the differences to be in the form of decals and colour options. Other difference one can note, is the presence of underbelly exhaust in the 125 and 200 range while the 390 range gets conventional exhaust, quite similar to the Duke 390.
Changes expected are updated chassis, new alloys, reworked suspension in the front as well as the rear, bigger disc brakes, new ECU, improved cooling system. Also on offer will be a digital instrument cluster from the Duke range.
    Engine specs
In its current BS6 format, the KTM RC 390 makes 43bhp and 35Nm of torque from its liquid-cooled 373.2cc single-cylinder engine, mated to a 6-speed transmission via a slipper clutch. The same engine is expected to continue in the new gen version. Once launched, it will continue to rival the likes of the TVS Apache RR 310.
Thanks to the updates, price of new gen KTM RC 390 is expected to get a significant increase. Even then, it will continue to offer a decent value for money package in the price segment. More

Image – Motor MurahKTM India domestic sales dipped while exports reported growth in April 2021
Two-wheeler sales in India during the month of April 2021 were badly affected by second wave of COVID-19 pandemic. The second wave swept the nation and lockdowns and plants being shut threw production and sales into complete turmoil. The situation is set to get worse in May 21 with every two wheeler maker reporting lower footfalls as a result of the lockdown.
KTM India sales figures for April 2021 are now available. While we cannot compare sales with that of April 2020 when sales were nil, we do compare it to sales in March 21, the month in which two wheeler sales had shown some semblance of improvement.
    KTM India Domestic Sales
KTM India has reported de-growth in terms of domestic sales to the extent of 27.26 percent. Sales which had stood at 6,217 units in March 21 dipped to 4,522 units in April 21. The company’s 200cc range posted the highest sales with 1,410 units sold in April 21, down by 36.66 percent as against 2,226 units sold in March 21.
KTM’s 200cc range commands a 31.81 percent share and does contribute reasonable numbers each month even as it is one of the costliest 200cc bikes in India, with a starting price of Rs 1.82 lakh.
KTM India Sales and Exports April 2021
KTM 125cc range also saw lower MoM sales at 1,172 units sold in April 21 as against 1,719 units sold in March 21. KTM India has been actively testing the updated 125 Duke and 250 Duke, both of which have been noted with new overall designs and revised engines, frames, sub-frames, swing-arms.
Sales of the KTM 250 and 390 also fell substantially to 1,089 units and 851 units in April 21 respectively. This was against 1,249 units and 1,023 units sold in March 21. KTM 390 is also set to get a major overhaul for 2022 with complete overhaul of its design, hardware and electronic package, and will hit road across India early next year. The old bike has been taken off the shelf to make place for the new bike.
    KTM India Exports
KTM India noted a 161.90 percent growth in exports in April 21 to 12,477 units, up from 4,764 units exported in March 21, a volume gain of 7,713 units. The KTM 390 was most in demand in global markets with 5,563 units shipped in the past month, up from 2,392 units exported in March 21.
The KTM 200cc noted the most percentage growth at 458.33 percent to 3,685 units, up from 660 units exported in March 21. Export growth was also noted in the case of the KTM 125 and 250, growing 83.81 percent and 101.99 percent to 2,316 units and 913 units respectively. These lower domestic sales but higher exports took total KTM sales in April 2021 to 16,999 units, up 54.80 percent over 10,981 units sold in March 21. More
