    China’s Chery Exeed Platforms to Power Future Jaguar Land Rover Electric Cars

The company claims it will be the quietest Range Rover ever made, owing to the obvious advantages of an electric powertrain. Now, it is revealed that, JLR’s (Jaguar Land Rover) future EVs will be based on platforms sourced from Chinese carmaker Chery.Jaguar Land Rover And Chery – The long-standing partnershipIt is a known fact that JLR and Chery have a long and fruitful partnership, mainly in the Chinese market. Both brands entered a partnership in 2012 and have been co-producing vehicles. The two companies even share a car manufacturing facility in China that has been manufacturing cars from 2014.Super Hybrid Platform By Chery To Be Used On Jaguar Land Rover CarsIn a major move by Tata Motors owned JLR and Chery Group owned Exeed, the joint venture is now extended where JLR will use two of the potent platforms developed by Exeed for their future vehicles. As confirmed by Yin Tongyao, president of Chery Group, JLR will be their new platform recipient. JLR will source Exeed’s M3X and E0X platforms.As per the agreement, JLR will be able to freely use both platforms on their next-gen vehicles that could be launched under Range Rover, Discovery and Defender umbrellas. M3X is locally also called T2X and it supports both traditional ICE powertrains and even PHEV (Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle) powertrains.Electric Range RoverWhat are these platforms capable of?This very platform, touted as ‘Super Hybrid’ in a few Chery cars like Exeed RX PHEV, Chery Fulwin T9 and others, is capable of achieving nine operating modes, 11 gear combinations, over 1000-km range, and a thermal efficiency of 44.5%. All this, with the help of an IC engine and two electric motors paired to the world’s first gearbox to adopt two electric motors.The other modular platform that JLR is sourcing from Chery Group owned Exeed is the E0X, which was co-developed with Huawei. This platform is suitable for both EVs and EREV (Extended Range EVs) hybrids and incorporates an 800V architecture. With 12 kWh/100 km consumption rating, air suspension, advanced autonomous driving and attributes, it is fit for high-end vehicles with range extenders.Currently, E0X platform underpins Chery Group vehicles like Exlantix ES, Exlantix ET, Luxeed S7, and Luxeed R7. These platforms could fill in the blanks where JLR is currently lacking, which is new energy vehicles.JLR’s move to source Chinese platforms might prove shocking to many.       Even as the electric vehicle space in India is still in its nascent state, there are many automakers both Indian and Global set to add new models to this segment. Tesla is one such global automaker planning launch of their electric cars this year, while Jaguar Land Rover has announced the launch of I-Pace electric SUV today.
      Jaguar I-Pace was opened for bookings in November 2020 with deliveries to commence from March 2021. The luxury electric car has been the recipient of over 80 awards among which is 2019 World Car of the Year, World Car Design of the Year and World Green Car. The I-Pace has been well received in global markets.

      New I-PACE electric SUV will be offered in three variants that include S, SE, and the top of the line HSE variant. Highlights on the outside include Atlas Grey grille, LED lighting all around, 19 inch alloy wheels and a luxurious Bright Pack option offered on all three variants of the I-Pace. Buyers are also offered the option to select from a body coloured or a panoramic glass roof. A flap hides the charging port located on the front left fender.
      The interiors boast of a novel feature. It receives cabin air ionization with PM 2.5 filteration to capture ultrafine air borne particles and allergens and this can be done even before the journey begins.

      The cabin itself is loaded with features such as head up display, Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a multifunction steering wheel and a 12.3 inch HD interactive instrument cluster. The windscreen and front windows come in with acoustic laminated glass so as to reduce outside noise from filtering into the cabin.

      Jaguar I-PACE is fitted with a 90 kWh lithium ion battery pack producing 294 kW power and 696 Nm torque. This translates into acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. It offers a claimed range of 480 kms.
      The battery can be charged upto 80 percent in just 40 minutes via a DC fast charger. The battery comes in with an 8 year/1,60,000 km warranty and owners are offered a complimentary 5 year service pack along with 5 year Jaguar roadside assistance. Charging can be carried out via a 47.4 kW AC wall mounted charger.

      Priced from Rs 1.06 crore for the base variant (ex-sh), the new Jaguar I-Pace will compete with the Mercedes Benz EQC luxury electric SUV, which is also priced in a similar range.

      Jaguar Electric SUV Bookings Open – Ties Up With Tata Power For EV Charging Network

      Jaguar Land Rover, the British luxury carmaker owned by India’s Tata Motors plans to launch the new i-Pace electric SUV in India. With launch date scheduled for sometime early next year and deliveries to commence from March 2021, the company has opened bookings of its first all electric SUV from today.
      Jaguar i-Pace will be presented in three variants of S, SE and HSE in India. It will come in powered by a 90 kWh lithium ion battery that offers 400 hp power via its twin electric motors. The setup allows the I-Pace to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 200 kmph.
      These batteries can be charged via a 7.4 kW AC wall charger and the company is offering a 5 year service package along with 5 year road side assistance along with the standard 8 years or 1,60,000 km battery warranty.
      For charging facilities, Jaguar has entered into a partnership with Tata Power to offer home/office charging facilities to its I-Pace customers. Customers will also be able to charge the I-Pace via the Tata Power network comprising 200+ charging points across 23 cities in India.

      The Jaguar I-Pace sets off the company’s electric journey in India but has received much attention in global markets. It has been the winner of over 80 global awards among which were the 2019 World Car of the Year, World Car Design of the Year and World Green Car. The Jaguar I-Pace was also the first recipient of all three World Car titles simultaneously.
      The Jaguar I-Pace is already listed on the company’s India website. Onboard features include LED headlamps and tail lamps, In-Control connected car technology and 19 inch diamond cut alloy wheels. Jaguar I-Pace S will see a Pivi Pro infotainment system with 12 speakers, 380 W Meridian sound system and dual touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Its interiors will sport semi powered front seats, screen based dials and dual zone climate controls along with connected car features, standard driver assistance with 3D surround camera and cruise control.
      Jaguar I-Pace SE variant will receive advanced projector LED headlamps, DRLs and interiors with 12 way power adjustable, heated sports seats with memory function and done up in leather upholstery. This variant also receives power folding mirrors with memory.
      The top of the line Jaguar I-Pace HSE will receive Matrix LED headlamps, 16 way power adjustable sports seats done up in Windsor leather, hands free boot release and head up display system. In terms of infotainment, it will get a 16 speaker 825W Meridian sound system while safety features will include adaptive cruise control.
      Once launched in India, the Jaguar I-Pace will compete against the Mercedes-Benz EQC and Audi e-tron and is likely to carry a price tag of over Rs.1 crore, ex-sh. More
